Ponies React

“Twilight,” Spike whines, “Why are we staying in the library today? It’s sunny outside.” Twilight and Spike are at the library inside Twilights room. Twilight is currently looking over some new books she got yesterday. It is currently around 1:00 for them.

“Spike, I told you this a thousand times,” Twilight chides her assistant. “We are waiting for a very important package to arrive.” Twilight levitates a book and examines it. “This book seems interesting.”

“And what is SO important about this package Twilight,” Spike said with a little bit annoyed at the idea of waiting for a package.

“Well we are getting…”Twilight starts until somepony knocks on the door. “IT’S HERE!” Twilight rushes down from her room to the first floor. Spike tries to keep up with her caretaker as fast as his stubby little legs can take him.

Twilight opens the door with her magic as she ran. At the door is the local mailmare, Ditzy Doo. “I have a package for Miss Twilight Sparkle.” She said, trying to be professional. Her eyes are askew as usual.

“Right here Ditzy,” Twilight tells the mailmare. Ditzy takes out the package and gives it Twilight who envelops it in her magical grip. “Thank you for delivering it.”

“No problem. It’s what I do.” Ditzy replies modestly. She then flies away…and hits her head in the closest tree branch. “I’m okay.” She answers to no one in particular and flies off to continue her job.

Twilight brings the package back up to her room and sets it on the table. Then she opens it wildly like a foal getting presents on their birthday. Spike just stares as she opens the box and taking out some objects in it.

“Twilight, you still didn’t tell me what you got.” Spike points out. He sees twilight take out a big rectangular box that has a reflective screen on it.

“I got us a brand new computer!” She cheers. Spike didn’t share her enthusiasm.

“And what so important about a computer.” Spike then sees her take out another rectangular device that has buttons on it.

“Well this invention was created at the Canterlot University just recently.” Twilight informs him. “They are still in the testing phases and it hasn’t been released to the public. I manage to get a hold of one with my connections and be considered to be a “beta tester” for it.” Twilight takes out some cords and wires out of the box and places with the ever growing pile of objects. “With the computer, I can go on the Ponynet and access some information that has been stored on it.” Twilight takes out the last set of objects from the box. “Only a couple dozen ponies have it and most of them are scholars and scientists who post their findings online for others to see.”

Spike yawns at the load of information she just told him. “Okay…but what does this have to do with me.”

“Well that’s easy,” Twilight starts to look at the directions that came in the box. “You have to help me put it together.”

Spike groans, “Ugg, why do I have to help you Twilight?”

Twilight starts to levitate other objects around her trying to set up the device. “Because Spike, you are my number one assistant.”

“Fine…I’ll help,” he grumbles. “Dumb ego.”

*Two hours later.*

“Finally, we are finished.” Twilight sighed with relief.

“Yea…” Spike pauses to yawn. “We are finish with it.”

They look at their brand new computer on Twilight’s desk.

Twilight turns to Spike. “Since you were very helpful, how about I give you some bits and you can have some food at Sugercube Corner.”

Spike runs over and hugs Twilight. “Thank you Twilight!” He takes the bits she levitated towards him and runs down the stairs. He stops and calls over to Twilight, “Twilight, are you coming with me?”

She replies, “Not now. I have to try out this computer to see if it is in working order.”

Spike just shrugs, “Alright I will be back before dinner time.” With that he leaves the library to satisfy his sweet tooth.

Twilight grabs a chair and sits down on it. She examines the computer and all of its advance parts. There is a computer hard drive on the desk. Next to it is a 15” and a keyboard that was designed to accompany hooves. Lastly there was a mouse attach to the keyboard. “Let me see if I have this right.” She levitates a book called computer setup for eggheads. “Hmm…” she ponders. “Press the power button on the computer to start it up.” Twilight pushes the power button on it.

“Next is to wait for the computer to turn on and allow for it to set up.” She did that as the screen runs the codes for set up. “Wow…fascinating.” Twilight says in awe. The computer finishes up the loading and brings it to the log in screen.

“Alright time to create my account.”  Twilight creates her account on the computer and inputs her password. The computer brings her to the desktop screen. “Now…according to the book, the ponynet should already be installed into the computer.” She reads out loud. “If I want to open it, I just need to click on the ponynet icon on the desktop.”

Twilight uses her hooves to drag the mouse over and click on the icon and wait for it to load. “I can’t believe that I get to go on the ponynet and look at all this vast information!” Twilight exclaims as her nerdy dreams to come true. The webpage opens and Twilight enters the URL for the Fillydelphia library system. “Now all I have to do is wait for it.”

20 minutes later

“C’MON!” Twilight yells impatiently. “LOAD!”

Twilight looks at the book and rereads everything in it. “I did what the book told me…all I had to do was wait but it is still trying to load the page.” Then, Twilight came up with an idea. “I can use my magic to speed it up.”

Twilight uses her magic and zaps her computer. The screen goes starts to light up purple but then dies out. “Aw…I thought it would work…” Then the screen glows a bright purple temporary blinding Twilight. As a reflex, she covers her eyes from the light until it the light dies down.

When she opens her eyes, Twilight notices that her internet is working but instead was at a different webpage. “Well the internet is working for me but what is YouTube?” She is confused as to what happened but her curiosity tells her to click a video to find out more.

*a couple hours later*

Spike comes back to the library after spending some time at Sugarcube Corner and with the Cutie Mark Crusaders. “Well that was fun.” Spike cheerfully says. “I got to have some delicious ruby pie and get to play a while with the CMC.” Spike starts to head up the stairs. “Twilight I am back from Sugarcube Corner.”

When he gets up the stairs, he sees twilight glued to the computer screen. “Uhh…Twilight. What are you doing?” the young dragon asks. Twilight doesn’t respond. Spike walks over to the computer desk and sees Twilight watching a video…about cats.

Spike being unsure of what is going on asks Twilight “Why are you watching cats on your brand new computer.” Twilight doesn’t respond. Spike decides to grab Twilight and shake her to get out of her dazed stupor.

“Oh hey Spike. I didn’t hear you get back. How was your day?” Twilight asks as if she wasn’t glued to the screen.

“Twilight you were staring at the screen. What were you doing?” Spike repeats his question.

“Well…my ponynet wasn’t working so I used magic to get it working.” Twilight starts. “After using my magic the computer screen changed to something called YouTube. On it, I started watching different videos that had these weird creatures that walked on two legs. The creatures were shown doing different things like dancing and playing music. Then I went around looking at other things in general. Also DO you know what this means.”

“That you spent the past two hours looking at some weird creatures making fools of themselves.” Spike deadpans

“Not that,” Twilight ignores Spike’s remark. “I have discovered another group of species and an extension to the internet! Think of what we can do!”

“Umm…I am guessing that you will need me to help you with the project.” Spike sadly says as he didn’t want to do more work for the day.

“Actually I found someone else to help you with that.” Twilight opens up a web page. On it states Yuki Harima Productions.

Yuki was sitting around at his home doing nothing but catching up on the latest videos he was behind on. He combs his black hair and adjusts his glasses.

“God…I need work now. How else am I going to pay for these bills?” He says. “No one needs help making videos anymore or creating new content. Hell…people can just get a camera and call them a producer.”

A bing goes off on his computer. “Hun?” he existed out of the website and went to check on the email. “I got an e-mail from a Twilight Sparkle?” He told himself. “I guess the person really likes those books.” He clicks on the e-mail and reads it to himself.

Dear Yuki Harima,

I saw an ad on your website stating that you help produce and record material. I will need your assistance in helping me record my findings on a new breed of species I discovered. I will pay for you and your expenses for your help and we would supply room and board. You will also need to come to the research area to record the specimens I am observing. If you want the job please reply back to the e-mail

“Well this Twilight chick is paying me to help her record some undiscovered species. She probably wants me to make a video of them and put them on the web or at least her company’s web page. And I really need the money to help keep me fed and for gas for the car. Then again I might be far away from my house…” He talks to himself. He thinks the pros and cons of having a job in a different place and came to a conclusion.

“I am going to accept the researching job. I can use the money for new equipment and I need to pay the rent.” Yuki replies to the e-mail

Dear Ms. Sparkle,

I am accepting the job request and looking forward to working with you. Are you sending me a ride to come pick me up and my equipment?

Yuki clicks send the e-mail. Immediately after, he gets a reply back.

Dear Yuki Harima,

Thank you for accepting the job and I look forward to working with you. I will be supplying the means of transportation for you. Please be ready within one hour.

“Well that seems simple…I just need to go get my equipment and just wait for the pickup.” Yuki says.

1Hour Later

“Well I got everything I need for the job. I got my video camera, my boom microphone, my laptop which has my recording software on it, and my solar powered charger station.” He examines his equipment. He looks at his watch. “I got all of my clothes as well and my other traveling needs. My ride should be here any…” All of a sudden, a blinding light surrounds Yuki and his equipment making it hard to see. Yuki recoils and covers his eyes from the light.

A couple minutes later the light dies down and disappears entirely. Yuki still couldn’t see what is going on because he was still blinded by the light.

“It worked! Spike! The spell worked!” a feminine voice shouts in glee.

Yuki stumbles around the room and accidentally knocks a book shelf on him.

“Ow…my head.” He grunts in pain.

“Oh my…are you alright” The voice in a caring tone says.

Yuki vision is starting to clear, as he replies, “Yea I just got blinded temporarily. I don’t know what…”Yuki stops talking once his vision cleared. “I think I hit my head too hard on the bookcase, because now I am seeing a purple unicorn.”

“Here let me help you,” the unicorn offers and levitates the bookshelf off of Yuki.

“Yep…defiantly hallucinating.” Yuki thinks. Then he is wrapped in a purple aura which helped him stand on his two feet. “I don’t think hallucination can do that…” Yuki started to sweat at the possibility the unicorn can do to him.

“Wow! A human!” Twilight enthusiastically says and head over to her desk to grab her notebook. “I never thought of meeting something like you before and now that you are here…” Twilight was interrupted by a loud thump. She turns around to see Yuki fainted on the ground. Spike comes down the hall to see what the loud noise was.

“Twilight what did you do?” Spike asked.

“I think he fainted because according to the research I have been doing, there are no magical creatures in his world and that seeing one might have caused his mind to shut down.” Twilight concurred. Spike just gives her a dumbfounded look.

Twilight sighs, “We don’t exist in his world. So he fainted from shock.”

“Oh…well, what do we do with him?”

“When he wakes up I will have to explain the situation.” Twilight goes over and levitates Yuki’s bags. “In the mean time I will put these in the guest room upstairs. I will also need to send the princess a letter about what I plan to do with him and my future project.

When evening came to Ponyville, Yuki manages to get up from his fainted stupor. At first he started to panic and cause a ruckus in Twilights library which caused a huge mess of the place. After calming him down by knocking him out with a frying pan. Twilight informed him of where he is over a cup of tea.

“So let me see if I got this right.” Yuki starts, “I am in a world called Equestria which is inhabited by multiple mythological species like manticore, minotaurs, and griffins.”

“Yes,” Twilight confirms.

“And I am in a town called Ponyville which consist of unicorns, pegasus, and regular earth ponies.” Yuki continues.

“Pegasi” Twilight corrects him and takes a sip of her tea.

Yuki raises his hand to his head to soothe the incoming headache. “Right…and you want my help…to record your findings on what you discovered on the human internet.”

“Yes,” Twilight innocently smiles at Yuki, hoping he would take the job.

Yuki ponders over with what Twilight offered him for a job. After a few minutes of thinking, he came to a conclusion. “I’ll do it but I want to change your approach to your idea.”

“Wait…what is wrong with my idea?” Twilight confusedly asks.

“Well…it’s boring.” Yuki bluntly said. “No one would want to watch it.”

“Well then what do you think about it.”

Yuki tells Twilight his plan and a smile start to form.

“That’s a great idea!” Twilight agrees. “This will be better and I will be able to include my friends in it.”

Twilight and Yuki spent the rest of the night going over their plan for their future project.

“Twilight can you tell me why you need me here?” Rainbow Dash impatiently asks

Late in the night, Twilight and Yuki sent letters to Twilight and her friends as well as other ponies they knew. Those who showed up were Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

“Yea Twilight,” Applejack chimes in. “Y’all sounded urgent we you said you need our help with somethin’ special and we have been waitin’ here for the past 20 minutes. I have apples to buck.”

“Yes dear,” Rarity said in a dignified tone. “I have to go back and work on my orders. I don’t want to fall behind. After all, a mare like moi needs her beauty sleep.”

“Well we are waiting on three more ponies to come so I can tell you all what we are doing. Also my director is getting his gear set up for us to start.”

“Director? When did you get a director?” Rainbow questions Twilight while slightly raising her voice.

“Rarity what’s a director?” Sweetie Belle asks.

“Well it is a pony whose job is to take charge of leading a group of people like a movie or a play.” Rarity answers.

The CMC got together and Scootaloo whispers, “I think we found our new talent to try out.”

Then there is a knock of the door. “Finally another pony arrived.” Rainbow Dash said with relief and walk to the door. She opens and much to her dismay sees the last pony any of them would want to see.

“TRIXIE!” Rainbow angrily shouts. “What are you doing here!?” Rarity and Applejack after having a terrible past experience with the showmare were a little angry to see her again.

Trixie scoffs at Rainbow Dash’s attitude, “Humph, well if you must know. Trixie was invited by Twilight to help her with this research of hers.” She walks into the library and ignores the other ponies in the room.

“Twilight is that true.” Applejack asks, not taking her eyes off of Trixie.

“Yes it is. We need more ponies with Trixie’s attitude to give us a diverse answer.” Twilight replies while looking over her notes. “So I would recommend that you guys get along when working together.” She then turns to Trixie, “The same goes for you. If you cause the other pony problems then you won’t be a part of the research group.”

“Fine” they all mumble.

Twilight looks at her list. “Now we need two more ponies who said that they would be here soon…” A blinding light shines the entire library causing all the ponies in the room to cover their eyes. When the light dies they see Princess Celestia and Princess Luna in their regal manor.”

“Princess Celestia and Princess Luna” Everypony said stunned and bowed, wondering as to why their princess were here.

“Arise,” Princess Celestia kindly said to her fellow subjects.

“Princess Celestia Princess Luna, you came!” Twilight gleefully cheers.

“Why of course I did,” Princess Celestia smiles. “Since you told me about your plan in advance I made sure that my sister and I are able to help you.”

“Well now that you all are here we can get started.” A mysterious voice spoke from up the stair case. All the ponies turn their head to see a bipedal creature walking down the stairs. They notice that he is a pretty tall fellow but is around a foot shorter than the princesses. The creature has blond hair and wears glasses. He wore a red tee-shirt and a pair of jeans.

“Everypony, this is Yuki Harima. He is a human from a different world who will help me with my project”

“Hi everypony nice to meet you,” He friendly says. After an exchange of greetings from all the ponies in the room and a couple of awkward questions later, Rainbow Dash impatiently asks again, “Can we finally get told on why we are here today!”

“Why of course,” Yuki responds and then turns to talk to all of them at once. “Twilight here managed to connect her computer to the human internet. In it, she discovered humans and their culture. She got an idea to record her findings and post them to the internet. That is when she found my ad and teleported me here. Originally Twilight was going to have me record her findings and have her post it to the ponynet, but it was too boring and nopony would watch it, so I came up with a better idea.”

Twilight continues, “He told me that human want an honest opinion on the subject as it would appeal to people and ponies of all ages and that they can relate to it as well. So that is why I have gathered you all here. Each of you has a diverse view on different subjects and will help us with our research.”

“So to sum it up, we will show you a popular video and you will be reacting to it. I will be recording them and putting them on the ponynet, and the human internet for others to see. The ponies will learn some things about humans while the humans get a form of entertainment out of it.” Yuki sums the plan. “So, will you do it?”

There room became silent as the ponies in the group thought over the idea of watching these videos in the name of science. A few minutes later, one pony spoke up.

“Well sure Twilight, that sounds like a great idea.” Rarity answers.

“It sounds like super-duper fun!” Pinkie Pie bounces at the ideas of watching fun videos.

“Umm…it sounds like fun.” Fluttershy shyly answers. Soon all of the ponies agreed, even the two princesses agreed to the concept of watching these videos that humans made.

“Well now that everyone is on board, why don’t we go upstairs.  I got all of my gear set up.” Yuki told the group. One by one, they all go up to the library’s spare room which has Twilight’s computer in it. Also, there is a green screen being held up, a video camera is set up along with the boom mike.  Yuki’s own laptop is on another desk that is hooked up to the video camera.

“Now let’s get started.” Yuki smiles and goes to his camera.
