The Nine
Chapter Nine
Previous ChapterNext ChapterIt was a fairly normal day for me. As normal as it could get, what with Him in my ear all the time. Right now, he was telling me to look at the sky. But, I didn’t want to look at the sky. In fact, I couldn’t. Who looks at the sky when you’re raving, anyway? It didn’t matter. I was having way too much fun feeling Vinyl’s beats flow through me. A lot of the bronies had made songs in her honor, and there were plenty of techno songs on Earth, but none of them compared to Vinyl’s. When she got on the stand, before she even started mixing, you could feel the music. And then, when she did start, you could watch the windows thump and vibrate in time. Of course, when the windows shattered, you knew something was wrong. Then, a meteor came crashing through the roof. I finally got a chance to see the sky. It was raining fire.
“I told you to look, but no. Instead you listen to this noise” He said, sounding very grumpy.
“Can it, you. I know that if you had it your way, everything would be a cappella. But, we can’t have that because not everyone likes a cappella.”
“I don’t see why no one likes it. Also, you should, I dunno, save these people or something.”
“Boy, someone really wants me to save lives” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm as much as His dripped with boredom.
“Just do it.”
“Fine” I spoke the words to save all of Equestria, but nothing happened. “Shit, that sucks.”
Just then, Twilight burst in.
“Kiqo! The sky is raining fire and my language no longer works. Also, I can’t go into soul form.”
Rainbow and Ace were not far behind with similar news. Then, a roaring caught all our attentions. We looked up, right into a gigantic flaming ball of space rock.
“I think I’ll name this meteor ‘The Nail’” I said, looking at my doom with no fear.
“The Nail?” the others asked.
“The final nail in our coffin.”
“So you’re saying” Twilight started.
“Yep, we’re doomed.”
I woke up, groggy and feeling as if I were hungover. I looked up, and found myself looking right at the back of another male who was just getting up. Then I became aware of the sounds of chains and the presence of chains on my back.
“Where am I?” the stallion asked in a voice that sounded oddly familiar.
“Fuck if I know, dude” I replied, still trying to clear up my headache.
“Wait a minute, I know that voice” he turned around, and I found myself looking right back at V. “Kiqo, you nutjob!” he made to hug me, but the chains stopped him. “Well, looks like that isn’t happening. By the way, why are you a dog?”
“I got bored of being a pony.”
“I get bored of it too. Oh well, I guess only you unicorns get the privilege of shape shifting.”
“Yeah. I don’t think so anymore, though. I just tried to remove these chains, and my magic fizzled.”
“That’s hilarious, because now the pegasi can’t fly, and the unicorns don’t have magic. Now, everyone is an earth pony.”
“I don’t think it’s funny” Twilight said from another line of prisoners.
“Well, your talent is magic, so I could definitely see that, but for most it would be pretty damn funny.”
They continued to bicker, and I took in my surroundings. We were outside, though neither the moon or the sun hung in the sky. It seemed that every intelligent life form was chained up, and the lines of prisoners counted higher than a million, and the prisoners in each line were roughly a thousand.
I became aware of another sound, one more distant than the omnipresent rattle of chains. It was the sound of trees falling. I looked towards the sound, and saw the shapes of beasts tearing through the woods. I saw a manticore, a hydra, an ursa major and her two cubs, and they were all chained together, just like we were, except they were actually doing something. Figuring that I would be forced awake when something happened, I drifted off to sleep, letting V and Twilight’s argument lull me to slumber.
Ace
Free, I wanted to be free. I struggled and tugged on the binding chains, but all I got were complaining ponies. I tried speaking my way out, I tried flying, it was all for nought. I eventually gave up and lay down. I eventually let the complaints of ponies lull me to sleep.
Rainbow Dash
I could see Ace from where I was. He was a little farther back, and a few rows over. I could also see up the line, to where Kiqo was napping and Twilight was arguing with V. Eventually, V got mad enough and socked Twilight right in the mouth. She fell over, unconscious, and I struggled to help her. I wound up getting slingshotted back down, since the mares in front of and behind me were rather fat. I joined the other three in deep slumber, having all consciousness knocked out of me by rather hard ground.
