What a fright!

The following footage is archive film of an early Nightmare Night.

It is the only known footage of the Candymare in existence and was severely damaged during the recovery.

The government of Canterlot has uncensored the footage for reasons of transparency.

The film opens with static, before suddenly cutting to an image of a mare in the forest late at night. Her eyes have a saddened look to them.

The mare has a straight mane and tail. Her Cutie Mark resembles a beignet with two candy corns pointing at it like arrows, in a shape of a candy wrap. Her coat is a darker pink color, and her mane and tail are both red.

She glances up at, and then directly addresses, the camera.

"My name is Beignet Sweets. I was one of the best salesponies in all of equestria. Everypony liked, no.. LOVED the sweets I made.

"My husband is a scientist. I have a wagon that Is as big as a house. He made some robotic ponies to make the wagon move to wherever we want. We were well off, until my life was changed by a virus I was infected with. To tell you the truth, I know what the virus is, but my husband did not. But... He was trying to find a cure for it.

"How did I get infected? Well it all started when my wagon was taking us to saddle Arabia for us to sell our sweets. Until one of my husband's robots stoped working for whatever reason. My husband was looking for the problem with his robot charior.

"Well.. He found it. He said there was a fault with the system that made the robots move. But as a Unicorn, he was unable to get the hatch open.

"I decided to open the hatch myself, and this black smoke exploded into my face. It scared him nearly to death, what happened. He decided I needed some rest, and set about seeing if anything was wrong.

"He scanned me with a medical device, but, before he could upload it to the computer, there was a really hard knock at the door. My husband came to the door, and it was one of his bullies from his school. He called him names, beat him up, and said my husband is a disgrace of an AAAAAAAAHH!"

The camera suddenly flies away from the speaker, before being reset.

"S-Sorry about that. I'm cool, I'm cool, I'm fine. Where was I?...

"He upload the info of the virus into the computer, and what he had found was a virus that was created. It was known, but the cure was not.

"He set about looking for one, but he didn't get very far.

The footage abruptly sticks, before picking up again.

"He searched for 10 days, and still didn't find the cure. I had still been sick since 10 days. Eventually, I found what the virus was on the internet. Only it wasn't a virus at all.

It's the equinox plague!

It was created by Celestia's mother, Queen Black Hole, back in the dark ages, as a form of punishment on those who did not obey her.

The plague amplified the negative traits of the sufferer beyond imagining, and gave them supernatural abilities.

Now that I know about the plague. I realized that the only thing to protect my husband... Is..."

Her speech is suddenly interrupted, before resuming. The footage jams again, before correcting itself.

"I did what had to be done, please... what ever you do, if you see me, run. Run and never look back.

"Please Don't look for me! Just don't I'm going to be a monster once I freak out!

"Please do not-"

The angle of the camera suddenly changes to look a nearby bush. A light is clearly visible in the distance.

The camera suddenly starts moving, the jerky motion causing purple bars to appear at the top and bottom of the screen.

The camera suddenly swings around, to show Beignet looked out through the bushes and describing what she sees.

"its... its the very 1st Nightmare Night party. They did not have costumes to wear, but they have food! And... they have an invitation list; there's Sunflower Shine, Smithing Blade, Bread Sweets with her children, and..."

She suddenly stops, and looks shocked.

"They...They did not invite me!? All because I had spread poisoned candy!? But, but.." she runs backward, away from the camera, and starts laughing hysterically.

"THAT'S NOT TRUE!!!! I WORKED SO HARD FOR THIS BUISNESS! I WAS ONLY TRYING TO HELP EVERYPONY! And they lied! THEY LIED ABOUT ME! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET A JOB! HOW IN TARTARUS!!.... AAAAAAHH MY BACK!!!"

Beignet stops speaking, and shifts abruptly. Blood begins to leak from her hooves.

She suddenly begins moving away from the camera, but stops just as suddenly.

The camera then hits the floor, and is leaning sideways.

The next sequence is impossible to describe, as the footage distorts badly and jams constantly. However, small snippets that were recovered include what appears to be the subject shedding a layer of skin, and losing all organic components.

The camera is suddenly grabbed by a layer of mane, apparently made from liquorice. The resulting creature is a monstrosity from nightmare. Made entirely of candy, not a trace of organic material can be seen on the creature. Were it not for the preceeding sequence, it would be impossible to tell they were the same being as the mare from earlier.

Tears leak from the monster's eyes, made of a dark brown substance. Voices are audible in the background, although the words are impossible to make out.

The camera zooms in on the creature's face. It begins to sing.

"Hehe nightmare night...

Whahahat a fright.

Give us..

Something...

Sweet....

To bite.....

Ha ha ha. Haha Haha! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

The camera flies through the air and hits a tree, lying on its side.

Screams echo through the air, as does the sound of torn flesh. Blood droplets fly through the air, one hitting the lens.

"Hehehehe fresh meat. Tastes sweet."

Then the camera runs out of film.
