Among the Living Once Again
Chapter Nine: Nothing is Easy
Previous ChapterNext ChapterDawn breaks in the land of Equestria has Celestia wakes.
A loud knocking could be heard on the door. As a mare's voice soon hollered out to Stanley. Rolling over in the bed, forcing his eyes open now, he laid stiff like a board as he looked up at the ceiling. With a yawn, his feet touched the floor while stretching out his arms. Sitting up right in the bed, he noticed their was a mirror. Looking at his own reflection, he could only smile back.
"Hurry up! Don't you dare keep our majesty waiting!" A voice recanted.
Man she is already getting annoying. Better get dressed fast, wouldn't want to keep Celestia waiting, for all I know she could have less patience then Luna.
"Yes, yes...I'm coming, let me get presentable now. I'll be out in a minute." Stan replied.
Gathering up his armor he soon strapped it on accordingly. Almost finished, he thought it was of best interest to leave his helmet and shield behind. There was no need to wear them, especially his helmet, it'd be rather disrespectful after all. Heading toward the door Stanley was ready to face another day in Equestria. Before he could even get his hand on the door knob, the door flung open with a mare standing on the other side.
"FINALLY....ugh" The mare said. Her attire looked to be that of a french maid. Beside her were two guards, like Stanley guessed the night before. Her muzzle looked to be very agitated, as she turned away, prompting Stanley to follow her.
"Lets go, you look ready to me. The princess is very busy today, and doesn't have time to dilly dally around." The maid spoke, her tone sounded stressed.
Maybe she got into trouble or something. Either way, lets get this over with. I hope, my speech works just as well with Celestia as it did with Luna.
As Stanley left the doorway, the two guards began to march behind him. Following the maid, once again he was lead through a labyrinth of corridors. Now just as lost as the first time, Stanley spoke up, to help break up the monotony of the walk.
"Cleaning this place must take ages, I'm sure you have lots of help but, still." Stanley spoke, in a friendly manner.
"Oh you couldn't even imagine, and sorry about before. A bunch of new staff recently were hired and they are preforming less then optimal." The maid answered with a voice that was sincere, giving Stanley a smile as she looked back at him. After a few more minutes of walking, Stanley was finally lead to the large doors of the throne room. It looked to be the front entrance, as it was overly grand and decorated. More guards were standing outside, looking like stone statues. The guards this time around, wore a light colored armor. Which had a yellow tint, and gleamed outward as the sun hit it. Just like the nighttime guards, they wore a sigil but this time of the sun. Besides this, the fur of each guard was a uniform white, besides one unicorn, who had distinctively grey fur. The gender of any of the guards was ambiguous, as their appearance looked all the same.
Do all guards look the same here? Or are they using magic to disguise themselves?
"Here we are Mr.....?" The maid said, stopping herself.
"Mr. Mayer." He answered. Looking at the maid, with a warm smile. The two guards behind him, dispersed after they had stopped.
"Well Mr. Mayer, you may now head inside, Celestia is waiting." She spoke, stepping to the side.
With his feet firmly planted on the ground, Stanley stared up at the large monstrosities before him. They were straight up massive slabs of decorated metal. Gulping a bit, with a step forward he let out his hands. Placing them both on each side of the large structure. With the palms of his hands, a glossy metal was felt as he pushed forward. Much to his surprised they didn't weight as much as they looked. His push already starting to swing open both sides of the double door. At one point it felt like they were moving on their own. Now entering the room, Stanley stopped. Just like the night before, when with Luna, he got a good look at the throne room once again.
A few things were changed, as Luna and Celestia would switch from day to night. But nothing too noticeable besides maybe a few banners being changed. The throne room was bright due to all the windows plastered about. Looking forward he saw Celestia herself as she sat idle, ready for him. With a step, and soon another he made his way to the front of the throne. The throne chair stood above the floor by a multitude of steps. Making sure to bow, while in front of Celestia, Stanley looked up at the princess. With butterflies in his chest he waited for her to speak first.
If I said I wasn't nervous I'd be lying to myself. All I can do is try my best!
"Greetings, Mr. Mayer. I had already read the report prepared by my sister in regards to you. I'm happy you decided to come quietly." Celestia spoke. Her voice was definitely that of royalty. It sounded very mature.
"It was in my best interest, fighting half of Equestria wouldn't be." Stanley replied still on one knee.
"So lets hear your story, once again. My sister left out quite a few bits. After you've finished, I have a few questions I wanted to ask." Her voice tingling with interested as she stared intently at him.
Now that I'm up this close to the Celestia, she is just as majestic as her sister. Just in many opposite ways, for the first time it looks like this equine was taller then me. Not to mention she fit her picture exactly just like the others. One thing that concerns me is, I can't gauge her power, maybe she's suppressing it, like me. All I know is, She's got that 'Don't fuck with me' vibe.
Clearing his voice, ready to speak. Stanley began telling his story. Mentioning every detail on his awakening to every action he had made sense then. During which the alicorn only smiled, amused by his little tale. After around ten minutes he finished his speech and waited for her to speak.
"An Ancient being huh? My, my, well you might just be older then me now." Celestia said, following it up with a laugh.
"You could say that. I don't even know how long it's been." Stan replied.
"Well thats a shame now, Isn't Princess Twilight beginning research on estimating your age?" Celestia went on.
"Yes, she is, your highness" Stanley spoke, feeling a bit more at ease as she looks to be pleased, with him so far.
"I hope my former student will provide us the results we so desire. Now Stanley, I want to know more about your past. I want to know your life before coming to Equestria. I'm a bit intrigued."
"So you wanna know about my life on Earth, it's not a thriller compared to my life here. But, I'll explain it best I can." Stanley replied. Clearing his throat once for another small explanation.
"On earth, which is where I hail from. I lived an average life in a middle class family inside the United States. My family originally immigrated from Germany in 1919, right after the first world war. Germany and the United States are one of many countries in my world. I was born much later in the year 1983. At this current point, I think I'm around 35 years old, discrediting how long I've been in stasis. I grew up like any other kid, who had many friends, and dreams. As I got older, I headed to higher education after graduating high school. There I got a bachelors degree of science in electrical engineering. As most do, I got a job right out of college and began to make a living. I would later, just one year before appearing in Equestria, start my masters degree. I was going to specialize in RF antenna design regarding micro-strip antenna's and their various applications. Education was very important to me, as 2018 looked to be a turning point for many technologies."
As Stanley summarized his life in the human word. Celestia's eyes lit up a few times when he mentioned certain parts. She looked to be confused when regarding his engineering terms. He was probably talking gibberish to her, as even most people in the human world would have lost him by now. Celestia later asked details on certain things, but soon shot out a question that caught Stanley off guard.
"What about your marital status, were you married?" She spoke, as she was still piecing other details together.
"I was single and had not fathered any children. I never even dated, as I never found the need for it." Stan spoke honestly.
Relationships like that were never a big deal to me. My family surely pushed it on me later, after I got my degree. They wanted me to settle down finally, but I told them it wasn't for me. Since my parents were understanding people they dropped the argument. They still had my two other brothers, so it was no big deal. I surely miss them thats for sure. I never did get an answer by the alicorns, on if time past equally here along with my world. If so, my family is most likely ancient history by now. But I accepted this fact long time ago.
"Very well, well I hope you can settle down here in Equestria or at least in this era" She said, finishing her sentence in a joking voice. "Speaking of which, how long do humans live exactly" Celestia continued, as she got up from the throne.
"We live around 70 to 90 years depending on many factors. I couldn't tell you an exact age." Stan said looking up at Celestia who began to move. She started, trotting down the stairs carefully toward him. In the next moment she was next to him, giving a smile.
"Please rise now, no need to kneel Mr. Mayer." Celestia spoke in a soft reassuring tone. Rising to his feet he was now able to gauge the alicorns height exactly. She was about a half foot taller then he was when standing. At his eye level, for the first time he didn't have to tint his head downwards when talking. Gazing at her horn, he almost snickered out loud.
Damn that horn is huge! She could easily shish-kabob me with that pointing spike of death.....
"So humans live near the age that most ponies do. Interesting. Well Mr. Mayer, do you have any questions yourself. I'm sure you must." Celestia spoke as she stepped toward him breaking him from his goofy thoughts. She was a bit too close for his comfort, As her big eyes met linked his. Her fine tuned perfume could be smelt easily now, as it filled Stanley nostrils. It was a bit intoxicating, but worked when in complimenting her beauty.
"I have a few, but none that should concern you. They are a bit trivial after all." Stanley said stepping back. Being this close to Celestia was making him a bit tense.
"Very well, so now what will I ever do with you Mr. Mayer. You did after all, cause quiet a commotion in Equestria not a few weeks ago." Her tone more serious now, as she looked away from his face. For a second, silence filled the room before she spoke again.
"I think a month of community service would be fair. Since my subjects in Ponyville had already heard your tale, that is where you shall repay this debt. After all, I want you to speak to Twilight regarding your past also. I'm sure she'd love to make use of your skills. It's rare to find beings educated in mathematics and science after all. Under her care you'll rapidly become acquainted with the land."
"You let me off, easy. And for that I thank you." Stanley spoke, his tone relaxed.
Good idea surrendering when I did. If I had fought Luna, I wouldn't be getting off this easy. It would have been jail time or even possibly other forms of punishment. Celestia, seems understanding. After all she has seen, I wouldn't doubt it. Celestia's wisdom is sage like, from what the books described.
"You didn't mortally harm anypony, or preform heinous acts. So this punishment is fair, my sister recommended something around these lines also." Celestia said, walking a bit away from him, as she looked up at a painting of her sister.
"What was with the large bounty on me then?" Stanley added.
"Well, think. A strange creature from a land we're hostile with, just emerges out of nowhere. With reports later stating, it possessed dangerous magic, wore strange armor, while simultaneously avoiding a whole towns guard force." Her tone harsh as she snapped back at his stupid remark. Celestia really did have high concern for her people. After all the villains that have come and gone, could any pony blame her?
"Understandable, I mean. I am strange in every regard. I wish I could have sorted this out earlier." Stanley replied, turning toward Celestia, who was gazing at her guards by the entrance of the throne room.
"I do have many more questions for you Stanley, But I have a council meeting very soon. I'll have Twilight write to me, about your progress. In time, I hope we can become friends. Until then, I wish the best of luck to you in Ponyville. You may go now." Celestia said, turning around to Stanley, giving a warm smile. Turning to a small door to the right of the throne room, she left.
That sounds dreadful, I would hate to have such a busy schedule, but thats being a ruler for you. So I'm stuck at Ponyville aye? Oh well. I will make due, as best I can. Maybe once living in civilization for a while I can finally understand whats going on in this new era of Equestria.
Heading back to the entrance he came in from. Two guards were waiting for him outside the door. With a gesture, they soon lead him back to the guest room. The guards didn't speak a word, as Stanley came to the door. Opening it quickly, he carefully gathered his belongings, heading back out. Each guard waited outside the door side by side only moving when he walked out. For the first time one of them spoke.
"We shall lead you, outside the castle now. Here." A guard spoke, as a sack of coins was thrown toward Stanley. Stanley reacting fast, caught it with his right hand. Stuffing the coin pouch into right pocket, patting it once with his hand.
"The queen gave you a small allowance able to cover the train ticket to Ponyville, along with a bit of spending money." The voice monotone, showing not a shred of emotion or character.
The guards are really serious, about their jobs. They sorta of remind me of the England's queens guard, from videos I've seen.
After being lead through the castle, he soon finally made his way outside into the common area of Canterlot. It was a vast city filled with large houses, that seemed to fizzle down near the edges of his view. The city was separated, by the rich, middle class, and poor. It was nothing new to Stanley. The one thing that really hit him was the mountain side, this castle had rested on. It was an engineering marvel, in his eyes. Beside those details, he didn't think much of Canterlot, sure it probably had many attractions he was missing. It will be explored in due time, he thought.
One of the guards gave him a map of the city, in order to find the train station. Now he just had to find his way through the twisting streets which weren't marked so clearly on the map. It shouldn't take him more then hour to find his way, shitty map or not. With it being nearly dawn still, he had tons of time.
I wonder what kind of community service I will be doing. Celestia didn't specify, exactly. I should just asked her oh well. I'm sure Twilight will know what I have to do. I just hope they removed that wanted poster of me around the land. I wouldn't want some heroic pony trying to fight me now.
Alone once again, Stanley navigated the streets of Canterlot best he could. He was stopped time to time by colts and fillies barraging him with questions. Few adults would even look at him, and when in the much more rich areas of city. He was given nasty glares by it's residents who were mostly nobility or wealthy business owners . At least the middle class section of town were much more chipper as they smiled and waved time to time. While the poorer section, was filled with run down buildings and such. All in all it looked like an average city to Stanley. Just an alien city, inhabited by talking ponies which he'd come to terms with.
"Here we are, the train station finally. I think I can spot the ticket booth now." Stanley said, stopping at a road junction where the train station should be.
Making his way to the booth to get in line. As he waited, he looked out toward the train yard. Various trains were moving in the distance. Large puffs of black smoke in the sky, as they left each trains smokestack. They looked to be early engine models of the 1800's, which was indication that Equestria must be in the early industrial era or something close to it. With magic around it most likely prevented technology from developing in this world, but it would come nonetheless. As Stanley observed the trains in the distance, he was soon at the front of the line where he was greeted by a teller.
"Hello Sir, How may I help you today?" A light brown mare wearing a hat spoke. The hat was a grey color presenting some logo of sorts. Probably the companies if Stanley had to guess.
"One ticket to Ponyville please." Stanley replied, looking at the board with ticket prices. It was only 35 bits for a ride to Ponyville with an estimated time of just a few hours.
"Very well, that will be 35 bits. Your train should be to be boarded in the next 15 minutes. It's interesting to see such a umm.."
"Strange Creature? Don't worry I'm not offended." Finishing her sentence now as Stanley looked her dead in the eyes. Laughing as he pulled out his coin pouch, placing the bits onto the counter.
"T-thank you. Have a good day now." The mares voice now skittish, as her cheeks turned a bit red. With a movement of her hoof she placed his ticket on to the counter. Taking the ticket Stanley left the line, finding a bench to sit on while inside the main hub.
She looked fluster now, not everyday a human shows up I'm sure. I'll be getting this for a while, just like when I was first summoned here. At least today has been uneventful, boring even. Well it's about time to board the train.
Looking up at a crystal on one of the many beam supports inside the hub. It shinned a mint green color, as a train began to slow down on the track. As the main engine rolled on through making a mild sound as it halted, One of the many train conductors stepped out checking people tickets. Standing over every pony in the crowd, he felt awkward. Handing his ticket to one of the conductors now, he was shot with a spectrum of looks by the many ponies near him. Casting away the stares Stanley boarded the train, finding a set of seats that were open, he sat down. Surprised he could even fit in such a seat designed for ponies, Stanley was impressed by the fancy cab. The seats were a dark blue color and were soft, with arms rests, well hoof rests in this regard. As Stanley got himself comfortable a strange pony was staring him down.
A mare with magenta fur was gawking at him. Her mane and tail were an orange color which didn't match to well. She was in the section of seating ahead of him, but across from him. Looking at her now, he met her orange eyes. Now getting a better look at her, he noticed she had a set of wings.
Why does she keep staring at me. I know, I'm a big goofy freak, probably to most ponies, but she is staring like a little foal....it's creeping me out.
Before he could think a second longer, he was jolted backward a tiny bit into his seat, as the train started moving. The next two hours went by fast, as Stanley found a few different magazines to read as he waited. Every while or so he'd look back over at the mare. He caught her staring every now and then. Each time he'd catch her, her eyes would dart to the window. Acting like she did nothing wrong. Stanley was about to say something to her, but was before he could, the exact same mare got up from her seat and headed toward one of the doors, probably to bathroom. As she walked by, she brushed her tail up against his leg. A sudden chill went down his spine.
What in the hell is wrong with this pegasus. This train ride can't end soon enough, no one else seems to concerned with me, so why her?
Lifting his magazine back up, he began to read again, before he could really get into it. An abrupt hoof tapped on his side. One of the conductors, now at his side spoke to him softly.
"Sir, may I ask you to come with me, I have a certain concern regarding your ticket." The conductor pony said, with a genuine concern that could be heard in the voice.
"Sure, I hope I didn't purchase the wrong ticket now." Stanley answered, putting his magazine down. Now being lead through the same door as the creepy mare from earlier, Stanley felt a bit on edge for some reason.
What is it now.....Can't I have an easy day for once!
As a solid door with no windows opened before him. It looked to be a small room, that separated each cab from each other. Inside the small room, an array of cabinets laid against the wall, along with two other doors with a stallion and mare symbol above them. As the conductor, squeezed by Stanley, back toward the direction they came from. Stan could hear a lock being pressed now.
"Whats going on here? Why are you locking that?" Stanley said as he looked at the conductor, with a strange face. His helmet wasn't on, as he left it over at his seat. He felt wearing it in public had no merit.
"Finally found you....." a voice hissed at him, as one of the bathroom doors flung open. As the strange mare from before stood on all four hooves, with a deranged smile.
"W-what?!" Stanley said in surprise, as he almost jumped back. Looking behind his back, Stanley noticed the small room, was starting to turn resonate with a strange green tint. The conductor pony, who was an unicorn, seemed to be the caster. Before he could even turn around, A pair of hooves pressed against his chest, as the mare sprung at him from the bathroom.
It happened so fast, Stanley could barely react, as he his hands moved to grab the pair of hooves on his chest. Looking at the mares face, he saw a pair of......solid.........yellow.........eyes......
Oh fuck it can't be......
Mellow, now face to face with Stanley let out a smile, as she licked her lips a bit. Her comrade, now revealed themselves as another changeling but this time, one with a horn. A twisted horn that is, filled with holes as it was emitting this green magic that filled the room. Stanley immediately felt his body becoming weak, as he tried to push Mellow off.
This room, it's draining my energy much to fast, this is no ordinary magic....I need to get out of here pronto! Maybe If I yell for help.
Letting out a yell now, Stanley hoped somepony would come to his aid, as he felt his grip loosen on Mellow.
"He's an idiot, just like you told me Mellow" The strange changeling casting the magic bellowed, as she let out a giggle.
"See, I told you, And the hive doubted me." Mellow uttered looking to her changeling comrade with a smile.
Did they sound proof the room too! What kind of magic is this!
Turning his head he got a good look at the other changeling. This one sounded like a female also, as her voice was almost like Mellow's. Unlike Mellow, her eyes were a solid purple, as her body was a black color with a pair of blue bug wings. She had a horn unlike the many changelings he saw before. This one was different, and a lot stronger.
"H-how did you find me! AGAIN!?" Stanley spit out, as he was looking at Mellow with a confused face, who only giggled enjoying what she saw. Her solid yellow eyes, made him squirm a bit as they gaze deeply at him. Using more force, Mellow pushed him against the wall now.
"It wasn't too hard, from the wanted posters, to an informant inside Canterlot, we had you tracked for a while." Mellow said, before leaning into Stanley licking his right cheek. Her rough tongue making him shiver, as it was a coarse texture identical to a cats.
"Come on Mellow, can't you wait a bit. Don't hog him now!" The other changeling spoke, sounding jealous.
"Oh hush, were only here to deliver a message Zell! That's right "Stanley', only a message so don't fret now!" Mellow hollered, as she said his name in an odd manner. Almost in a way to mock him. At this point Stanley was blushing a bit, at the sudden lick, but equally disturbed. This little changeling wasn't so small anymore, when standing on her hind legs pressing Stanley up against this wall.
First, this nasty slobber of a lick. And now they say, it's message they want to give me!?
"A message? Is it to surrender? Because if it is, you can fuck off right now before I get angry" Stanley said, in harsh tone.
"No silly, after your escape from the lands, the hive queens came to a decision." Mellow said. Scooting over a bit, the other changeling named Zell stood on her hide legs leaning against him also. Her horn was still lit up, as the green magic poured into the room. With in the next second he felt more of his energy begin to drained as Zell pressed close up against him. Without warning Zell began to lick his neck. The same coarse tongue could be felt as it slid up and down. Going from the base of his neck almost up to his ear. With each motion of her lick, his fatigued kept getting worse, as he began to sweat.
Am I really being molested in a train car right now!? I've lost too much energy..I.....I......have.....to....
Stanley, with his back against the wall, began slide down the wall, as his legs gave out. Both changelings only giggled as the stepped back. Against the wall he looked up at both of them, almost out of it. His vision got blurry, as each changeling looked like a fuzzy black shape now.
"A-and wha....kind...of decision would....that be?" Forcing out what words now he could, as Stanley's voice was just whisper.
"You'll find out soon enough." Mellow yelped, with one of her front hooves connecting against his jaw, knocking Stanley out cold.
"Ugh, Mellow did you really have to do that! He was going to faint anyways." Zell spoke, in objection with her compatriots action. Zell now looked over Stanley as she backed away leaning, against the wall with one hoof.
"Hmpf" Mellow let out, turning her back to Stanley and Zell.
"I wanted to play with him a little longer! His emotions tasted delicious!" Zell still angry, as she walked past Stanley touching Mellow's back leg.
"Hey, face me when I talk to you!" Zell said, in a harsh tone. As Mellow turned the two began to argue a bit. Not even a minute after his black out, his eyes began to open. Only to be greeted with a changelings hind quarters in his face. With a full face of Zell's goodies just a few inches away, he only blinked in shock. A smell of Zell's musk, entered his nose from being up so close. As his vision steadied, he noticed more detail. She was oddly moist from the scarce amount of green liquid, that dripped out of her entrance. Her entrance had a purple glow emitting outwards, as her flank shook side to side. Her puffy vulva, made her entrance look like a perfect slit as it laid between her skinny thighs. Above her entranced was her small puckered plot, followed by a small tail too tiny to hide anything. At this point she had nothing left to hide, at least for Stanley to see.
"Oh look, he's coming to, We should really get going now Zell." Mellow snickered, as Zell blushed, now realizing the pair of eyes gazing at her exposed flank.
With a sudden flash, the two changelings disappeared as soon as they had arrived. The room went back to normal, besides the lighting, which was gone. Sitting on the floor trying to figure out what just happened Stanley shook his head in disbelief.
I really didn't need to see that...after waking up....My head is pounding now and I feel so weak still....Those damn fiends. Why did I let my guard down! I'm worry about what this message, or 'decision' meant.
As Stanley sat in the dark, the train had soon come to a stop. Crawling on his hands and knees he barely made it to the door. Just barely in time, he was able to look up he, saw it swing open. One of the conductors looking down at him in bewilderment.
"What happened? Are you ok!?" The voice exclaimed.
"No........." Stanley uttered, before dropping to the ground again too weak to move.
