Among the Living Once Again
Chapter Eleven: Mr. Community Service
Previous ChapterNext ChapterAuthor's Note
This chapter contains, serious info regarding the mare to stallion issue in Equestria. It's better explained finally. Thanks for the comments regarding what Stanley should do.
I reformatted a tad bit, No more triple spaces on all lines. Yeah it took me long enough. I plan on doing an editing purge on the earlier chapters, to help improved my terrible sentence structure, flow, word usage, etc.
Just an FYI, later down the road, there will be clop. I'll make sure to put some warnings just in case your not looking for that sorta 'action'. I never wrote smut before, so bare with me when it happens 😆. Sorry if my quality on the last two chapters was lacking. When writing Chapter 9, I had a lot of trouble.
**This chapter was going to have a Luna Dream Sequence, but I decided to hold off on it for now. MAGIC IS TOO OP BTW! #NERF STANLEY
Hope you Enjoy, Til' next time.
Chapter Eleven: Mr. Community Service
In the middle of Twilight's Castle, Stanley was lead to a comfy room. A place he'd be calling home for the next month. The room was on one of the top floors inside the castle. Evidently in the same hallway as Spike's room. Inside this room, laid a generously long bed, with an accompanying nightstand. On the ceiling, a mounted crystal was present, which could be activated using the light switch next to the door. A large window with pulled back blue curtains was positioned in the middle of the room. It was facing toward the front of the castle, allowing ample view of Ponyville. The bright sun, poured into the room, lighting up even the darkest crevices. Besides that, a trunk laid at the end of the bed. Since ponies usually wore no cloths, a dresser wasn't a common piece of furniture leaving the room barren feeling.
"So, how does this room look?" Twilight said, looking to Stanley for his input.
"It's marvelous, A bit bare in terms of character, but that will change with me here. Thank you Princess Twilight." Stanley replied. His tone soft, and relaxed.
Heading over to the bed, he let himself fall backwards, landing on the soft mattress. The comforter was white with several swirling lines of blue which converged into a strange pattern. Underneath the comforter, he presumed there to be white sheets like in any other bed. Looking up at the ceiling while resting on the bed, he smirked.
"I'm happy to see you already getting comfortable, I'll let you unwind for a few minutes, but please meet me downstairs at my study." Twilight said, as she gazed at Stanley laying on top of the bed.
Stanley made sure to nod, letting her know, he heard her.
"Oh yeah, make sure to say 'hi' to Spike when you see him. Tell him you'll be staying here for a while." Twilight finished as she closed the door with her magic.
Life is good sometimes. I have a room to myself, inside a Princess's Castle. Although I'll be doing community service, I still made out in the end. This was about the same size room, I had back then...30000 years ago. How could they have left me like that after all I.......It's not important now is it. I'm here now thats all that matters. Lets get this armor off. This stuff has been sapping my magic all day, not that the changelings helped any. When they sucked the utter life out of me on that train.
Lifting himself off the bed, he slowly undid the straps of his armor. Setting down each piece neatly onto the floor. In just grey pants, his boots, along with his newly exposed tanned skin, Stanley stood in the middle of the room. Moving over to the trunk at the base of the bed, he opened it. It had nothing inside, besides a small cloud of dust welcoming him, only for him to sneeze. Picking up his pieces of armor he placed them inside the trunk, and closed it. They all just barely fit.
"Finally I got that armor off. I feel so much more nibble without it." Stanley spoke, as he jumped up into the air, before dropping down to do a quick push up. Expressing himself.
"Free of that armor, wish they left me a set of leather armor instead. But being frozen in a crystal doesn't give one much room to argue. That reminds me."
Pulling out the coin pouch from his one pocket. He placed it on the nightstand next to the bed. Counting the bits out, he still had around 500. Celestia was generous, this was a good chunk of spending money, or at least he thought. The pricing of goods in this world were fair, nothing too expensive, but he could still understand why some ponies were poor. Putting the bits back inside the pouch, he put it in his back pocket this time.
"I'll have to see someone about getting some new cloths. I'm sure someone in this town works with textiles, as the sheets for this bed, and every other bed in Ponyville just didn't pop out of thin air." Stanley spoke again, alone inside the room.
Lets see Twilight now. I'm sure she'll be surprised to see me without any armor. She only saw me briefly, and that was just without my chest plate only.
Heading to the door of his room, he opened it. Sliding outside into the hallway, he saw no one. Trying to figure out where Twilight's study was neigh on impossible. Stanley finally gave up, and asked a guard to show him. Now being lead to the study, he opened the door, seeing Twilight with a clipboard and pen at her desk. The study was sorta like a managers office, it was probably where she did most of her paper work.
"I won't lie. I sorta got lost on my way here, thankfully one of your guards helped me out." Stanley spoke, as he entered into the room. Twilight's eyes, opened a bit wider then usually, as she looked at him. Her eyes going up and down his body.
"It's fine, and thats what you look like without your armor. Interesting. You know. Your anatomy is somewhat close to a minotaurs." Twilight said, finishing her inspection of his body.
"I got that a lot when I was first summoned here. I have feet unlike a minotaur. On my feet I have these things called toes. Which are small appendages, sorta like my fingers on my hands. " Taking off his one boot, he lifted his leg up to show Twilight as he wiggled his toes a bit. She only giggled at him, as she wrote something down on the clipboard. Putting his boot back on he stood silent.
"So, on this clipboard I prepared, I have a few questions I wanted to ask you."
"Go ahead. I have nothing to hide. Well......actually. Princess Twilight, I wasn't going to say anything, since I didn't want to worry you, but." Stanley spoke hesitantly. Twilight's eyes narrowed at him.
"but, earlier during my train ride here, I was ambushed by a pair of changelings." Stanley finished now.
Twilight, almost falling out of seat, put the clipboard down on the desk, looking at him with serious intent.
"Thank you for informing me. This is pretty serious Stanley. No changeling has been spotted around these parts for a while, looks like they are on the move again." Twilight said depressed now, as she looked out toward her small window, revealing a view of Ponyville.
"On the move again?" Stanley said, interested.
"The Equestria Empire, along with our ally the Crystal Empire, have been at odds with the changelings ever since they unified the hives. Before then they've been mostly quiet, but activity on our border has increased to alarming levels. That is why Luna and Celestia might not have been the most friendly, when they meet you. At this moment, Celestia has a lot on her plate, as more problems pile up by the day."
Twilight sounding serious, as her more political side was showing. Twilight herself, having faced dire odds before, could only imagine what her former teacher dealt with over the millennia. With only a small frown resting on her face now. Stanley was not surprised by her words, as no matter the era, there is always conflict. He looked to her with a smile, trying to reassure her of something.
"Princess Twilight, with you on her side, I'm sure Celestia will be fine, You and your friends have dealt with so much already. I read about some of your deeds in a book. Back when I first had a chance to gather information on this era. You are an Element of Harmony, bearer of magic! It didn't choose you out of chance. You've dealt with Tirek, Discord, Nightmare Moon, and so many more!" Stanley spoke, a bit loudly near the end, trying to comfort the distressed alicorn.
Stanley didn't mean to start worrying her, from his mention of the changelings. They were only after him from the way they talked. For this reason, thats why he wanted to avoid telling her. But why keep secrets at this point.
"Thank you Stanley, you just got here, and you are already providing that community service with your kind words." Twilight seemed to cheer up, as her face lightened up. Her face was even a bit red, with a blush surfacing from the flattery she just received.
"Don't mention it. We all need a pat on the back once and while. After seeing how many books you have, your laboratory just a bit ago, and with how quickly you dated my sword. I'd say your doing every you can. No need to stress." Holding his smile, he looked to Twilight. Both their eyes met, with equally large smiles. The atmosphere in the room improved.
"On to the questions then, My Princess." Stanley said now, bowing in a cutesy way, trying to make her laugh.
"Very well." Twilight said, picking her clipboard back up using some magic as her horn lit up.
Twilight asked a multitude of questions regarding his life on earth. How he performed magic, and so-and-so. Answering each question best he could, he waited near the end to ask her a question.
"I was wondering, what is up with the strange ratio of mare to stallions. I've seen it like this everywhere." Stanley said, walking a bit closer to Twilight's desk, looking at her with a lost face.
"Well, that is a hard one to answer. This will take a while so, get comfortable now." Twilight said, as she got up off her chair to look out the window.
" It has always been like this for as long as I remember. Celestia told me it was an issue, even when she was a little foal. And that isn't something to be said lightly seeing how old she is. For every stallion born, there are nearly three to four mares being born. Making it around 70 to 80% mares to stallions at any given time. Due to this issue, mares have taken up most of the primary jobs, as stallions usually keep safe at home. Some mares even call stallions sissies for this reason, but not all stallions are locked in this life. As you've seen before, my head guard is a strong and noble stallion, who serves just as well as any mare." Twilight finished, taking a breath from her long speech. As she thought of her brother, Shinning Armor who was served the Crystal Empire, as Princess Cadence's husband.
"Before you even ask, Even 30000 years ago, this issue was starting to plague the alicorn kingdom I served. It wasn't as severe, but still. Also, I'm sure this issue has had grave consequences, as competition for stallions is high. Not to mention with your estrous cycle, it must only make things even more complicated." Stanley added. Looking to Twilight. She only stared back at him, with a satisfied look, seeing how he somewhat understands. Opening her mouth she continued on.
"What you said is somewhat much true. We have adopted a herd based system to counter the issue. Birthrates have only been steadily getting higher within the kingdom. Lately Celestia has been encouraging mares to have more foals which could be the reason for this. That is why you might see one stallion with many mares around him. Either they will be, fawning over him, or fighting over him. Most stallions are a bit meek at times, causing some mares to be, more 'aggressive' in order to get a mate. During estrous cycle, it's recommend for most stallions to hide. There is medicine for mares can to decrease the side effects of the cycle, but its expensive. Luckily the cycle only lasts 3 to 7 days. Since were both adults here, I'm sure you can understand this matter." Twilight with a smile on her face again, as she saw what looked to be Rainbow Dash zooming by in the distance.
"I do, whole hearted-ly. Human females in my world don't have such a cycle, but have a whole another issue. I won't get into it right now. Back in my world our ratio was actually 52% males, to 48% females on average globally. A stark opposite compared to here, but I can still sympathizes with you ponies." Stanley said, moving toward Twilight to see what got her smiling. He too saw a streak of a rainbow in the distance. It didn't make him smile tho.
Rainbow Dash...ugh.
"You, know Stanley, you should be more careful. Many of us mares don't mind, spending time with other species in order to get our fix, when the urge arises. Once you fit in more, you'll have some admirers in no time." Twilight said playfully as she nudged Stanley's side.
"Thanks for the advice. I'll hold it dearly." Stanley now laughed, being a tad bit embarrassed. Looking away to hide his blush.
Back ten years ago, I did have a few run in's with alicorns....but since I was away most of the time. I never really had to deal with pushy sensual mares. From how it sounds, that is a good thing.
"And to finish this little conversation. Due to all this, you'll sometimes see griffins and other species heading over to Equestria looking for some 'fun' during the estrous cycle period. To just clarify with you Stanley, I do not use my head guard for any other reasons besides guarding, so don't get any funny ideas now." Twilight uttered, looking at him with an exasperated tone as she pointed her hoof at him trying to make her point clear.
Ha! I'm sure others have accused her of using her Princess statues, for some easy action. As I'm sure, only the most wealthy or prestigious of mares could have multiple stallions.
"Don't worry, even if you did, your secret would be safe with me 'Princess'." Stanley chuckled a bit, as Twilight's face lit up with frustration, as she found his remark, in bad taste.
"Are you done?" Twilight spoke, her hooves crossed. Her tone filled with minor annoyance at his chuckle.
"Yeah, I had my fun. Sorry." Stanley replied, walking back to the center of the room.
"So was this all you wanted from me, as of right now?"
"At this this very moment, yes." Twilight said answering him back.
"Very well then, I'll be on my way Princess Twilight, I'm sure you have lots of work to finish. Also can I say this. You have bags under your eyes, get some sleep." Stanley remarked, his voice filled with concern regarding Twilight's health.
"I will, given when I get all my duties finished. It was nice spending time with you Stanley. Your always free to find me, for more conversation." Twilight spoke, her voice now soothingly soft, filled with a sincere tone.
Closing the door behind him, Stanley left the alicorn alone now. As he walked through the hallway. He stopping to looked outside from window to his left. It looked to be just a little over noon now or maybe later, he couldn't really tell by the position of the sun.
What should I do for the rest of today. Maybe I'll snoop around Ponyville to hunt down a seamstress who could make me a pair of new cloths. After that it will be dinner time, I'll make sure to join Twilight. Then I'll get some early shut eye, in order to face tomorrow. Which will be the start of my community service.
Heading out of Twilight's Castle, Stanley stood at the entrance.
"Where shall I start? Wish I had map like in Canterlot." Stanley remarked.
"I can show you around." A voice spoke, making Stanley's ears perk up. It sounded close.
Looking around Stanley couldn't spot anyone.
"Down here." The voice said again.
Looking down Stanley spotted that small purple dragon from before.
"Oh sorry about that. You really know how to sneak up on someone."
"I get that sometimes." Spike said letting out a tiny laugh.
"So whats a young dragon like you doing here alone, and in these parts?"
"It's a long story, but I was hatched by Twilight, and have lived here since." Spike replied.
"Interesting, I hope they will be able to handle you when you're fully grown." Stanley said continuing on.
"I encountered your kind, all too often. But that was eons ago. Compared to dragons of the past, you seem much more friendly."
"I am, but don't get on my bad side, or I'll prank you." Spike said, looking a bit mischievous.
"I wouldn't want to get 'pranked' on by my neighbor anyways." Stanley said, giving Spike a smirk.
"Neighbor?" Spike said now sounding confused. With a strange face he looked up at Stanley.
"Yeah, Twilight gave me a room to stay in. While I complete my community service in Ponyville. You see, I was a bad little human, and needed to get punished." Stanley said jokingly at Spike. With the last part, sounding overtly sexual.
It is sorta nice to be talking to another dude for once. I missed Longbeak, even now, even if I knew him for a short time.
"That works out for me, maybe I'll have some back up now. Twilight still baby's me too much." Spike said, sounding a bit annoyed while he thought of Twilight.
"Don't worry bro, I have your back." Stanley said giving Spike a smile. Looking away from the dragon, various ponies were staring at the two of them. They did sorta stick out like a sore thumb, a human and a purple little dragon. It wasn't a common sight in Equestria.
"So, Spike. I'm looking for an individual that could make me set of new cloths. Humans, don't do well without being clothed."
"Oh, that is easy. Rarity could help you out." Spike said, a bit excited. He'll have a convincing reason for paying her a visit this time around. Spike had a major crush on the fashionista, and would take any opportunity to see her.
"Her? She is the one with the purple mane, lavish eyelashes, and blues eyes if my memory serves me right. She also is sporting three gem like prints on her side, right?" Stanley describing her best he could.
"Yes, thats her! She is one of the Elements, that being Generosity and is simply........." Spike held his breath now. As his tail flung side to side in glee. Blushing now, Spike thought about Rarity in all her beauty, and maybe in a bit more of a naughty manner.
"Umm...ok then. So lets go and find her" Stanley said, looking down at the little dragon, who seemed in his own little world right now.
Snapping out of it Spike spoke. "She runs the Carousel Boutique in Ponyville, there you can order anything you wish, as long as it involves fabric."
"Nice, Lets get a move on then. I really appreciate the help Spike. Sorry again about the ruckus from last night, I wasn't myself." Stanley spoke, sounding a bit sad, remembering his recent actions.
"Don't worry about it, you didn't hurt anypony, besides Rainbow Dash's pride. That is." Spike said, with a humorous tone near the part regarding Rainbow Dash.
It wasn't even five minutes before Rarity saw a familiar face enter the Carousel Boutique.
"Hey Spike, what brings you here, dear?" Rarity spoke, with delight in her voice.
"I brought a friend who wanted to see you." Spike replied smiling at Rarity. Right at that moment Stanley entered the room.
"I see why, What sorta outfit is that!? Its completely hideous." Rarity said, commenting the moment she saw Stanley's bland outfit. They were just a pair of ugly worn out grey pants after all.
"I deserved that." Stanley spoke, laughing at her comment.
"So, you are back form Canterlot already? Celestia must have let you off easy." Rarity spoke, as she stepped out from behind the counter, moving to pat Spike on the head.
"You could say that. I was given a month of community service, for my 'punishment.' "
"Easy." Rarity spoke, as she gave Stanley a smirk. Spike just sat quietly, as he happily accepted the pats graced by Rarity's gentle touch.
"I was wondering, if you could maybe make me a new outfit. As you already know, this pair of pants won't last me forever." Stanley spoke, as he stood idle at the front of the shop.
"Nonsense, all first time customers get a free outfit. Let me take your measurements, and I'll be off." Rarity spoke.
"Are yo...."
Before Stanley could finish Rarity spoke again. "Yes, I'm sure." Rarity's voice had a hint of eloquence with each word spoke.
Man, even after what I did last night. The elements seem to have no hard feelings. Which is a nice change for once. In the past, no such mercy was given.
Stanley in the next instant, was led to a room. Inside this room, Rarity measured his limbs, as she moved on to a new body part after each was recorded. Spike just sat on a stool waiting for the two of them to finish. It was mostly quiet, with Spike occasionally trying to spark awkward conversation with Rarity. It was a bit cringy, as Stanley almost face palmed after hearing Spike last try. Trying keep still for Rarity, he stopped himself. In under ten minutes, Rarity finished.
"Your measurement are alike in regards to few special customers of mine. It shouldn't take me more then a day for your outfit. I suggest that you find me during the afternoon tomorrow, It should be finished by then." Rarity spoke, confident in herself. Having already envisioned the perfect outfit for him.
"Thank you for your kindness, and generosity, but....." Stanley said now stopping himself. Reaching into his back pocket fifteenth bits were present. With one had he offered them up to Rarity.
"Here, It's your tip." Stanley said, smiling at her.
Rarity looked a bit dumbfounded by his actions. "Tip? I usually don't...."
"Please take it, I would feel bad, I mean I'm getting a free outfit from you already. It's the least I could do, you need to keep a business after all." Stanley spoke, urging her to accept.
"Only if you insist..." Rarity said. Hesitantly taking, the bits into her hoof. From the body language of the white mare, he could see her very uneasy, about taking the bits. Due to being a courteous mare, she had to accept.
Leaving the Carousel Bontique, Spike and Stanley were on the street once again.
"That went better then I expected." Stanley commented, as he began to walk.
"Maybe for you." Spike said looking down, a bit disappointed.
"Cheer up buckeroo, you'll get her next time." Stanley said, trying to mess with Spike. It was far too obvious that he liked the mare. Spike was fawning over her like a little kid in love for the first time. He was still a young dragon after all, so no need to bust his balls.
"If you say so...wait! I don't like her, I was just trying to start conversation, it's boring having to wait." Spike said, a bit defensive, with red cheeks on both sides of his face. This looked quite comical to Stanley, generating a laugh once again.
"What ever you say. hahaha."
"Just shut up already, before I reconsider our pact on no pranks." Spike replied, hearing Stanley's stupid laugh.
"Ok,ok" With one last laugh Stanley stopped. " I'm done. You guys are too easy sometimes." Stanley remarked, thinking of how easily he riled up Rainbow Dash. Oddly the way she responded, was a bit more brash.
Back toward the entrance of the castle, both Stanley and Spike split off as they entered. Stanley, slowly exploring the castle, as he found the large library that Twilight possessed. Always looking for more knowledge, Stanley gathered a few interesting topics. One on the 'Villains of Equestria', with another on the 'Dragon Species'. Sitting at a desk within the library he began to read, until it was dinner time. At the table, he sat near both Spike and Twilight as they greeted him. Twilight having already found out, about Stanley's special diet. After all her questions were thorough. In time she mentioned that possible replacements could be made to fill his needs.
Dinner went smooth, with conversation on the bland side. This was mostly likely due to Twilight's exhaustion. Finishing, Stanley left the dinner table after having permission from Twilight. Heading toward his room, with his mind else where, he did noticed something peculiar. During his walk,a few more guards were around inside the castle. With a few even wearing the Sun-Guard uniform from Canterlot. Looks like Twilight called for reinforcements, after what Stanley told her about the changelings. Opening up the door to his room, a window could be seen open.
"Odd, this was shut when I left. Who came into my room?" Stanley spoke aloud, heading over to close it. Wind from outside was blowing into the room. With the curtains wildly swinging everywhere. The tip of the sun could be seen outside the window. As it was nearly gone, over the horizon. Darkness was now setting in.
Looking over to his bed, he saw a note, placed on top of the nightstand.
"Either this is one of my admirers that Twilight warned me about, or it's some sorta of threat. I'll bet my 475 bits on the ladder."
Picking up the crude note, he braced himself for what ever was written on it.
Dear,
Stanley Mayer
You have seven days to enter the Everfree forest alone.
Don't even think to bring any friends, or try to pass this information to anyone.
We have eyes and ears everywhere.
If you violate any of these terms.
You'll regret it dearly.
The writing was a bit alien to him. He could barely make out some of the words. While his eyes went top to bottom a few times, making sure it read it right. Knowing what the letter said, Stanley made a decision to burn it. Holding it in his one hand, he poured magic onto the piece of paper. With a quick burn, of blue flames, the page was now gone. Nothing but a pile of ash on the floor next to his boots.
Cute. It wouldn't take a brain surgeon to figure out wrote this. So those changelings want to play this game. I can only think they will sabotage something, and frame me for it. I'm pretty much on thin ice as it is. They got me pretty much by balls at this point. Fuckers...Looks like I'll have to play along for now.
With a sigh, he sat down on top of the bed. Taking off his boots, he placed them next to the nightstand. Inching his butt up toward the pillow, he slipped under the bed sheets. Now a fluffy comforter, and a silky smooth sheet were nestled on top of him. Knowing what tomorrow was going to be, his decision for an early bedtime felt just right. With his head rested on the firm pillow, Stanley's eyes began to close, as dream land waited.
Day 1
Morning soon struck Ponyville once again, as Stanley's bed was now vacant. Waking up early, right before dusk, Stanley decided that helping Applejack first would be his best bet. Working as a farmhand it would usually entailed waking up at the crack of dawn. Luckily heading to bed early that night paid off. He was raring to go, filled with energy. Before he left the castle, he made sure to take a proper shower. One thing that surprised Stanley was that a basket filled with shower supplies was left outside his door. It was labeled with his name and everything. Twilight really was on top of every detail, after hearing about his arrival. Skipping breakfast, he swiftly made he out of the castle.
In, just grey pants and boots, a shirtless man stood at the ready. Stanley now at the bottom of the stairs that led up to Twilight's Castle. Taking in a large breath, the fresh air filled his lungs. The air outside this morning felt cool. As it blew against his skin. It was somewhat inviting unlike the blistering heat of midday. Looking into the distance sky he grinned. It was still pretty dark, as the sun had yet to arrive. Not a single soul was out right now, besides a few guards that Stanley past on his way out of the castle.
I shall find my way to Applejack's family farm. I think it was called 'Sweet Apple Acres' or something like that. After I help out there, a little after noon, I need to pick up that outfit Rarity made me. Once that is done, I'll scour Ponyville for a carpenter. I wanna start that cabin to keep my mind off things.
Getting a move on now, he began his trek to Sweet Apple Acres. The walk from Twilight's castle to the small farm wouldn't take more then twenty minutes. Along the way, he had yet to see a single pony out. This wasn't odd, as most residence of Ponyville had no reason to be active at this time, while in such early hours of the morning. After all this was no large city like Canterlot where ponies worked night shifts, at the various bars, clubs, and other attractions.
Coming up to the crossroads of a familiar path. It was where he met Rainbow Dash and Applejack yesterday. He took the path, with the arrow pointing toward his destination. It was clear he was going in the right direction when he saw the farm on the edge of his vision. Stanley's mouth dropped open when he saw how far the apple orchard sprawled across the land. Various fields were also present as they laid behind wooden white picket fences. He wasn't even at the entrance to the farm yet. But it was clear he was getting close, as a house and barn could be seen further down the yellow dirt path.
Before he could even stop to check out the entrance of the farm, he was meet with a cheerful greeting.
"Hey' a partner, I'm happy to see ya choose me first." A southern accented voice spoke, as Applejack was leaning over the opposite side of the white fence to face him.
Her cute little hooves crisscrossed over the fence. From her appearance, she was wide awake. She was right by the entrance, almost like she was expecting Stanley. Her muzzle had a smile on it, as her large green eyes examined his different attire. With her a curl of her lips inward, and a small nod of her head she spoke again. The face of the small orange mare almost looked impressed.
"I finally get to see ya' without all yar armor, and might I dare say." With a slight pause now. "You might just survive today." She finished with a giggle, getting off the fence.
She noticed his obvious muscle tone, as he was shirtless. He wasn't a slim lanky creature like she expected. Instead a body somewhat like a minotaurs, was in her vision which put her at ease. At least this human wouldn't be totally useless on the farm. Usually only strong earth ponies could farm for a living, probably due to their nature talent for it. Unlike unicorns, the 'magic' earth ponies possessed helped them with their trades. Regardless if it was farming, blacksmithing, a gaffer, or various other meaningful jobs.
Trotting to the opening of the gate, Applejack walked underneath it. The gate entrance was holding a sign which spelled 'Sweet Apple Acres'. Now In front of Stanley, Applejack gesture, indicating for him to follow.
"I'm happy to see ya, up and early." Applejack said, as they walked inwards toward the center of the farm.
"Well, with most farms you have to be bright and early." Stanley said, as he followed Applejack. Trying not the stare at the orange mares flank as her hips swayed back and forth. Her tail, had a red band at the end, as it laid behind her backside. At least with a tail it helped cover up most ponies and their nakedness.
With a slight smile on his face he looked ahead, a large red barn now greeted him. Before he could speak, Applejack turned around to face him. With an enthusiastic voice she uttered.
"Big Mac.....Apple Bloom, get on out here. We've got an extra pair of hooves today!" Applejack said, giving him a warm smile.
In almost no delay, a large stallion with a coat of red fur appeared. The barn door opened just a crack. He stood a bit taller then Applejack. His mane was light orange, which matched his tail exactly. On his flank, there was a large green simplistic apple. Next to him stood a much smaller pony, she was maybe three fourths the size of Applejack. It had to be a mare, due to the large light red ribbon that was neatly kept in a cherry red mane. Her tail flung side to side, as her large orange eyes stared Stanley down. Her coat was strange to Stanley. The smooth fur looked to be a yellow hue, but not exactly. This had to be the cutest, filly Stanley had seen yet. Her adorable stare made him feel uneasy.
Big Mac had a blank expression while looking at Stanley. His green eyes, looked a bit more dull compared to Applejack's vibrant emerald eyes.Just from his posture and face alone, Stanley knew this stallion worked hard, and didn't mess around.
"He'll do." Big Mac said, before turning around, to head back inside the barn. Apple Bloom and Applejack just frowned a bit, as their brother left.
"Sorry about my brother, he's not a big talker." Applejack said, with a laugh as her face bounced back to a happy expression.
"So this is that 'creature' from the wanted posters?" Apple Bloom squeaked, as she kept her stare. Her voice would be what one could expect for a young ponies. It was high pitched, but had a hint of confidence.
"It is, and he's not a creature, he's a human" Applejack said, correcting her sister in a exasperated tone. As her eyes moved to Apple Bloom giving a stare of disappointment.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that...." Apple Bloom recanted looking back to Stanley now, after she caught her sister's stare.
"Don't worry about it, I've gotten used to it. Nice to meet you by the way Apple Bloom. My name is Stanley." Stanley added, to now ease up Apple Bloom's hunched body as she felt bad. Giving out a his right hand, the small filly soon returned the gesture with her small hoof. Shaking it slight he let go, as Apple Bloom now chipper once again skipped back inside the barn.
I she is Applejack's little sister. That little filly, had a strange cutie mark. It was an apple, like the large red stallions. But it instead was on top of a red and beige striped shield. Odd. Whats more odd is how a young kid like her is wide awake. When I was her age, I'd be in bed til, my mom dragged me out by force.
"Wish she'd learn some manners...." Applejack said, shaking her head with her hooves crossed.
"She is still a little filly, after all. I can't blame her. I mean, I am strange after all." Stanley said chuckling now.
"So where shall I began? Do apples need to be picked? Do...." Before he could finished Applejack spoke.
"Apples would be a great start, Follow me. This will probably take you nearly all day." Leading the way to a cart filled with empty baskets Applejack stopped. For the next few minutes she explained to him what needed to be done in regards to the apple gathering. During this conversation she made mention of how useful his hands would be in this endeavor, as she was going to join him in the orchard.
Applejack soon saddled up, pulling the large cart filled with empty baskets toward the entrance of the apple orchard. As Stanley watched he made a comment.
"Hey, Applejack. Besides my hands, would it be ok, if I used magic?"
"Hmm, I don't see why not, just be careful now. I don't need a tree being lit on fire now." She replied, stopping to drop the harness off her back.
"Great, just you watch. I assure you, we'll be done fast." Stanley said, smirking as he looked at the hundreds of apple tree's before him. Each tree seemed to be in good healthy, as their leafs were as green as the grass around them. The apple trees seemed to stretch as far ones eye's could see. Even in the far distant hills were filled with apple trees as they jetted up and down. A few large sections seemed to have been already worked. While most of the apples seemed to be gone, some apples laid untouched on these trees.
At this point Celestia's sun was out, as it was almost over the horizon. More and more of the landscaped became illuminated, making the farm just that much more bright. If one thing was true about this land, it was how colorful everything was. From the landscapes to the ponies, everything was vibrant once that sun made an appearance. Entering the gated orchard, Stanley made his way to the first tree and touched it. Rough bark, could be felt as his hand brushed lightly against the surface of the bark. Turning his head he saw Applejack already heading up to a tree bucking it furiously with her back hooves. It looked sorta clunky, and cumbersome to gather apples this way which gave Stanley an idea.
This explains why some trees still have apples on them. I can't blame the poor pony, without hands how could she get every single last one.
"Hey Applejack!" Stanley said, trying to get her attention. As an echo of tree bark vs hoof could be heard.
"What do ya' need?" She spoke, with one last buck against the tree. Under her laid a brown wicker basket already half full.
"I don't need anything, I was thinking tho. Why don't I use on my magic to pick up all the straggler apples left on some of the trees. I can then use my magic to gather full trees quickly."
Applejack now pondering a bit, as a hoof move to her muzzle. Not even a second later she sounded back to him with a happy response.
"Not a bad idea. Actually." Applejack replied. In all her time at the family farm, she never did ever had a chance to see how a magic farmhand would preform. As most unicorns were much too dignified to work on a lowly earth ponies farm. With nearly the same regarding the pegasus. Who could also easily fly up to gather the remaining apples after a tree was bucked.
"Be ready to be impressed!" Stanley said confidently. Looking over at the cart he built up his magic now.
Several baskets from the cart, now were engulfed with a dark blue aura. Quickly each one flew through the air, being set up against a tree as the magic disappeared. Being set down gently, they were ready to be filled to the brim with delicious red apples. Walking about the neatly lined up apple trees. Stanley began to pick off the apples, as he pointed his fingers at each tree, focusing his magic. All he had to do, was envision picking the apples to allow his magic to do the work. It was clear from the sheer speed, that he would be done in no time. At this moment, Applejack looked on in amazement as her mouth dropped open.
In no time flat, the cart was filled with various baskets of apples. Filled to the top, each basket rested comfortable inside the cart. Finishing at this point Stanley stood tall and might looking at a job well done. It didn't come without a cost, as sweat was dripping down his brow. Wiping the sweat with his hand, he rested his back against the fence of the apple orchard. Applejack at this point in time, had left the orchard seeing how he had it handled. She left to go help out Big Mac with something. This only took him maybe half an hour at most. leaning against the fence Stanley began to think.
That was simple enough. I needed to practice my magic anyways. I wasn't about to break my ass, carrying all those baskets back and forth. Not to mention climbing up on a ladder to pick 'em would get grueling real quick. Sadly I can't keep using my magic to work at such an intensity. Unless I have time to rest. Anyways, where did she say, she wanted this cart?
With a deep breath, Stanley got back to his feet. Walking to the stockpile cart his hands lit up once again with magic.
The wheels on the cart began to shine as a dark blue hue formed around them. Using his mind to guide the cart back to where Applejack first had it. Making sure to go slow, as tipping over this cart wouldn't be pretty. At this time Apple Bloom, stood alone at the center of the farm. She had just left the red barn at this point. Grasped in her little hooves was a rusty bucket. Now finished Stanley approached her, as the blistering sun met his back. There was no shade this time from the trees to hide him. This made Stanley worry, as sun screen in magical pony land was probably not a commodity.
I NEED TO GET A SHIRT NOW! I'm going to get burnt to a crisp out here.
Apple Bloom for some reason, looked a bit annoyed. She seemed to mumbled something under her breath. Her small yellow ears now perked up, as she saw Stanley heading toward her. Her eye glued to him as he stopped right in front of her. His tall figure seemed to cast a shadow on, as he stood looking down at her.
"Hello Apple Bloom, I was wondering where your sister and brother ran off to." Stanley said, huffing a bit after having just exerted his magic to pull that cart not even minute ago.
"She went off to help Big Mac, in the carrot field behind the barn." The little fillies voice answered. Pointing her hoof in that direction. Her face was a bit skeptical, As she gave him a strange look. She was wondering why he's sacking off from the apple picking.
"Did you finish already? That was almost half a days work of apples you had to have gathered" Her voice sounding shocked as moved her head to look past Stanley. Her vision now clarified, that there was indeed a cart filled with various baskets full of red apples. Apple Bloom couldn't believe what she was seeing. Who is this pony!? She thought, looking back up toward the large 'human' in front of her.
"Magic." Is what Stanley said jerking his head toward the direction of the cart. His view shifting to the sky.
"So you can use magic?" Apple Bloom said a bit surprised.
"Yes, thats why your sister left me, to go work on other things." Stanley confidently replied looking down at the small pony, as her large eyes met Stanley's.
"WOW!" Apple Bloom yelled, a bit excited. Jumping up a little to match her voice. With a few corn kernels flying out of the bucket as she did so.
"It's not that impressive. Just basic Telekinesis, with only a bit of my stamina drained as the result." Stanley remarked, as he will probably regret using so much magic for such menial tasks.
"My friends won't believe me when I tell them this!" Apple Bloom said, as she giggled to herself. Ignoring Stanley.
"Your friends?"
"Yeah, me and my friends, the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" Apple Bloom boasted, with a slight squeak.
"Oh, well don't be spreading too many rumors, now...." Stanley said. He doesn't want the ponies of Ponyville to expect him to preform magical miracles now. He didn't want to be Ponyville's Jesus. Stanley much rather leave that responsibility up to the Elements. Or more specifically Twilight Sparkle.
"I won't....its just.....thank you for helping us out." Apple Bloom said, giving him the biggest smile ever, while looking directly into his eyes.
Too....cute....must....get....away....now....
"No need to thank me. It's my job to help everyone out for the next month." Sounding a flabbergasted by the sudden appraisal. He tried to remain modest.
As Apple Boom left to feed the chickens. It wasn't long before Stanley found Applejack. Both her and Big Mac were dumbfounded by how potent Stanley's magic was. Helping them with magic to finish what they were doing. Stanley was now nearly pooped out, and decided to rest a bit. He decided at this point to work the old fashioned way, which meant he going to be using his hands. Stanley now worked diligently on the farm, following Applejack's orders.
It was maybe around an hour or two past noon, when Stanley informed Applejack about the outfit he needed to pick up from Rarity. She dismissed him immediately saying he had already earned his keep for the day. She was impressed by how much he got done, magic being used or not, he was a huge help for her family. Being sent off with waves from the three earth ponies. Stanley made his way off the farm, with nothing but a smile on his.
His back by this point was starting to get red from the sun's unyielding rays. Just how did these ponies survive this unrelenting heat? Stanley thought, as he continued to walk on the dirt path, away from Sweet Apple Acres. Before he could even start his walk toward Ponyville a voice shrieked from behind him.
"OUT of the way peasant. The great and Mighty Trixie is making her way." A mares voice called out.
Stepping to the side, to give way, he leaned up against the picket fence that led to Ponyville at the crossroads. Looking toward the oncoming mare. Behind her there was a wagon being pulled by magic. The direction she came, was that path that led to another town. The one path being that he hadn't taken yet. Getting a good look at the mare now, he was slightly intrigued. She was a unicorn, with a coat of light blue fur, as she came up close to him.
She wore a goofy generic looking magicians 'get up' that had the yellow stars and everything. The hat was a purple hue , along with the matching cape. The cape was firmly kept together around her neck by a large blue gem. She had a mane and tail of a milky white color. Along with her flank possessing the trademark 'cutie mark' that most grown ponies owned. The cutie mark was a crescent moon with a magical wand. The mark was strangely faded in it's ghostly white appearance, it didn't pop out at him like most other cutie marks.
"Wow, I didn't think Ponyville would be hosting the circus already." Trixie commented as she walked past Stanley now.
She seemed to size him up bit, as her large violet eyes gazed upon his body. Behind the wagon another mare was present walking at a brisk pace. This one, was also a unicorn. Her coat was lilac in color, with her tail and mane, a dominant purple color sporting a streak of teal down the middle. Like Trixie, her eye lashes, seemed bold and noticeable. Besides that a strange cutie mark of what appeared to be a purple star, with a swirly line of green. Resembling a shooting star perhaps. Other then that, at least this one wasn't wearing some bizarre outfit. Oddly her eye color matched the fur of Trixie.
The lilac colored mare met eyes with Stanley. Her blatant stare was emotionless. As he got an uneasy feeling from the unicorn. She quickly broke eye contact with him now, walking past his position. She was a bit different, and not in a good way Stanley thought. He could sense a strange, evil dwelling deep within her.
"Easy, Trixie he might 'of' just escaped his holding cage. Wouldn't want to provoke it now." Starlight Glimmer commented, her tone brutally harsh.
Her mocking statement, seemed to elude to that fact, she thought he was nothing but a brainless animal. An animal that didn't understand a lic' of what they were speaking.
Starlight soon let out a laugh. Only to have Trixie join in now. Making their way a slight distance from him now, they kept moving. Ignoring the two douchebags, Stanley contemplated something. As an act of revenge for his appearance and intelligence being the 'butt end of a joke'.
He decided to take a peek at Starlight's exposed flank as her tail was off to the side at the moment. After getting a decent look, he saved the image in his head. Right before Stanley finished, Starlight turned her head back to him. She caught him red handed gawking at her ass. At this moment what scared Stanley most, was when she gave an evil wink while sticking her tongue out at him. Now turning her head back around, her tail moved to cover herself as she kept walking.
Oh shit....I hope, I don't run into her later. They started this with the insults, I only wanted some playful revenge. I would have done the same to the "Mighty Trixie" ......if only that lame ass cape didn't cover her up. Either way, lets steer clear of those two. That lilac colored unicorn gave me the heebie-jeebies. An omen of whats to come maybe? Anyways lets get to Rarity's to pick up my new outfit. I'll avoid the main street just in case.
Wandering down the same path as the two unicorns, Stanley made his way quickly to Ponyville. Before he entered the main drag inside Ponyville. He looked around for an alternative route. Finding one he soon darted off the main path, into this smaller side street. Hardly any ponies noticed him, as he kept hidden within the shadows. Moving at a snail's pace, he finally discovered the Carousal Boutique once again. A bit sweaty from his travel, he knew Rarity kept the place air conditioned which would feel amazing. Opening up the doors he was greeted by an impatient Rarity holding her hooves up crisscrossed as she leaned over the counter.
"What took you so long? Do you know how long I've been waiting......" Her voice sounding annoyed, as she looked at what was before her.
A sweaty man, who was breathing heavy was hunched over in her lobby. Stanley wasn't graceful nor proper. A complete mess by Rarity's standards. She shook her head in slight disgust at the sight of Stanley.
"At least your here now. Did you run here or something?" Rarity spoke as her expressed turn from disgust to amusement.
"Yes...and...no.." Stanley replied getting back his composure as the stood up straight.
"Well, I have no time to waste. Lets get your new outfit on." Rarity spoke with anticipation, wanting to see her handy work in action.
Before Stanley could even reply, Rarity led him with her hoof. Now in the measurement room he was told to wait. Standing still, he let out a sigh now. With his eyes following Rarity as she dipped into what appeared to be a storage room.
No one else is around, she must run by appointments exclusively. I still appreciate the generosity of this. I'm sure it wasn't easy to make an outfit for some strange alien creature such as myself.
In the next second, Rarity came stepping out of the storage room. A pair of thick looking khaki pants, held up by magic could see. Along with them, a red colored t-shirt faced backwards could be seen also.
They look, like something I'd buy back on earth. She's good.....I had a bad feeling she'd make me something outlandishly goofy, but from the looks she knew my taste in clothing. Wait a minute.....Whats that?!
Squinting at the red shirt, he noticed something was written on it. With Rarity getting closer it was clear what was printed.
In large obnoxious white letters it read......
MR. COMMUNITY SERVICE
In that Instant, Stanley's hand swung violently to his face cupping it. Closing his eyes, he shook his head. In his most aggressive facepalm yet, he mustered everything he had to let his gesture be known.
OH........FUCK.........NO!
