Formating suggestion: Intented, Non-Justified

A MAGICAL MIRROR

In the magical land of Equestria, the Princess of Friendship prepared herself for another special event, that doesn't come across too often. Princess Twilight was very special in this regard. She was born a lavender coated Unicorn with dark blue straight hair, that had a pink highlight in the middle, adorning her horn. But due to her vast knowledge of magic and her ability to fix friendship and spark hope in the hearts of her friends, she became an Alicorn, gained wings and the status of Princess. Only four Princesses were known to the lands of Equestria, ruling Pony-kind, which made Twilight rare enough.

What separated her from the other princesses though, was her usage of the Magic Mirror. It was a while ago when Twilight discovered that the surface of the mirror wasn't merely glass, but could become a gateway into another world, a world unlike her own and yet somewhat familiar. Her friends and even herself had a Human copy in this strange world, living similar lives with similar friends, sharing similar needs and a similar pace of day. Only that they were Humans instead.

Twilight needed to take every chance she had, to get away and use the Mirror, so that she could see her other friends, the Human copies, that she missed just as much as she would miss her Pony friends. Merely hands she couldn't wrap her head around.

The usage of the Mirror brought the strange Unicorn magic of Equestria into the Human world and wrecked minor chaos here and there, now and then. It was a problem that slowly oozed over the threshold and that needed attention. Otherwise it could destroy both worlds.

It was first when the Mirror activated from a Star Constellation and ancient magic, that Twilight discovered this gateway. By now though, she managed to abuse its magic and tear open the rift whenever she pleases. With this abuse, the gateway slowly faded, which is the cause of the magic ooze, unknown to Twilight.

However, Twilight was about to use it once more. She stood in the great hall of the Crystal Castle, which was adorned by colourful rocky formations and shiny, smooth surfaces all over. It was coloured mostly in pink, the floor was in a darker shade and almost blue. Every single one of the high, narrow windows was made from multiple shards of light blue crystals, which still had their cutting edge to show if ever touched.
The Castle was wide, vast and big, and seemingly somewhat bigger on the inside, than the facade let appear.

The Princess strode down the echoing pink hallway, her hooves clapped on every step. Her wide smile was accompanied by a wrinkly forehead, when she heard the voice of her friend and apprentice.

"So it is time again, huh?", Starlight asked with a similar look on her face. "Back through the mirror, visiting Sunset Shimmer."

Twilight stopped and turned, so Starlight was able to catch up with her. She saw, that she didn't look too happy and she had an idea, why.

"Don't mind me. Just tell her Hi from me, okay?"

"I'm sorry you can't come with", the princess smiled on in regret, "But I don't know anypony better to watch over the school while I'm gone. That and the Elements. If it wasn't for you, the Shadow Pony would have been banished. It was you who saved him."

Starlight looked at the floor, "I know." She took a deep breath, "Trust me, I know. I just wished there was a Sunset Shimmer here in Equestria too, you know? Kinda weird, come to think of it."

Twilight chuckled restrainedly. "You have no idea. I bumped into myself once. That! Was weird." She raised her hoof to pull Starlights chin up, "Don't worry. I'll only be gone for a few hours", before she evaded her look herself and turned her head, "Well, maybe a few days. You never know what will happen!"

"Whatever it is", Starlight smiled more confidently, "I will face it. We will face it together. You go ahead. Probably nothing will happen anyway."

"Yeah right! Like that ever happened before."

Together they kept walking through the hallways until they arrived at the castle's library. The long and high ceiling halls where filled and stacked with all sorts, shapes and colours of books, from the floor up to under the roof, with no spaces in between. From the ceiling glass windows, dim daylight sank through the dusty air, illuminating every grain of dirt and every hair that floated about.

Opposing the gateway, next to some shelves, a cupboard and a desk, there stood the weird contraption including the Magic Mirror in between. A metal frame adorned the pink crystal gateway, holding turning tubes and scrolls of paper above the actual Mirror.

When the Princess got closer, her horn that pierced her forehead and peaked out of her straight, blue hair, started to glow in a rather pinkish fashion, accompanied by white sparkles that were dashing around like falling snow.

The glow and its wondrous magic infected the machinery as well and brought frame, scrolls and magic spellbook to life.

"Yep, still works", Starlight Glimmer chuckled when they beheld the opening of the rift.

It was Twilight's own design. The Mirror didn't usually allow travel at any time, but with her vast knowledge of spells and artefacts, the princess was able to work around that problem. She used the magic contained in a special book to power the machine and the Mirror. This diary had an unbreakable bond to the other side of the crystal glass and was able to tear this gateway open whenever abused in the right amount.

When the light show had faded and the rift was supposedly enterable, the two horned, off-colour Ponies took a last glance at the magic crystals before them. The Princess took a few steps ahead when she suddenly stopped. "I almost forgot!" She looked worried over her shoulder back at Glimmer.

"Pinkies cakes!"

"Pinkies cakes?", Glimmer asked with a raised brow up her face.

"She made a cake for each and every one of her friends on the other side."

"You shouldn't have told her about them. Shouldn't have taken that bet. That Pony can drink!"

"Oww", the Princess sighed, "I know. I don't even remember telling her."

"That's because you can't handle the cider. At all."

"I promised I'd take them."

"Oh, do you need me to grab them?"

"Yes?"

"You don't remember where they are at."

"They are either still in the kitchen or at Pinkies seat in the Table Hall. Would you mind checking the kitchen?"

"Sure. I mean, no. I mean, on my way." Glimmers smile vanished when Twilight disappeared in a pink flash of light and left behind only a few sparks that sank to the floor before they dissolved. "Of course, why bother walking, right?! I guess." She turned and pulled herself down the long hallway.

Behind her, unseen, the mirror glowed stronger once she had left and a rainbow shimmer crawled over its gateway before the colour changed for good. The crystal surface was replaced by watery waves and a blue, summerly shine.
