The Pirate Prince

Family History

Previous Chapter

It was just another day at the castle. Spike had been in and out of the Royal Courts testifying about his encounters with the corrupt naval officers, and he was exhausted from the experience.

He decided to take a break and read in the royal library. He looked around and found a book that piqued his interest, titled, "History of the Royal Family." There were a lot of his family members he knew nothing about, so maybe learning some new information about his family would be interesting.

As Spike sat down and read through the book, he found an interesting tale. As he read it, he was shocked by what he found. He took the book and ran to find his mother. When he knocked on her door, she opened it and asked, "What's wrong Spike?"

Spike opened the book and said, "Listen to this mom, my great-great-great grandfather, on your side, Night Venture, he was a pirate! It's all written down with all sorts of tales about him!"

Celestia was just as shocked as Spike was when she read some of the tales. "Incredible! Huh, who would have thought that piracy runs in the family? A lot of these tales are of old myths within the royal family. I wonder if that means they're not just old myths?"

Spike smiled, "Well, I'm about to go find out!"

Celestia smiled down at her son and kissed him on his forehead, "I knew you'd say something like that. I'm proud of you Spike. I know one day, you'll be a great king, and a great man."

Spike smiled back, "Thank you mother, hearing that means a lot."

Of course, Spike knew there was more to do before he could go on these adventures. He had to finish testifying, but he already had an idea for how to punish the corrupt soldiers.

When he returned to the courts and told the judge his plans, the judge asked, "My lord, you mean to say that you'll allow the corrupt men to avoid prison time by becoming members of your crew!? Are you sure that's a good idea?"

Spike explained, "I'll admit, I've made worse decisions before, and if push comes to shove, I will throw them back in the brig and place them in prison. I believe that some leniency can go a long way when it comes to rehabilitation."

The judge nodded, "If that is your decision, so be it, I will not argue any further. I will have them prepared for your crewmates and set them to work right away." before slamming his gavel down and dismissing the court.

When the corrupt soldiers were led to Spike's ship, he told them, "Alright then, looks like we've got a complete crew now. There are a few reasons I've let you off the hook. One, my ship is too big, and my crew is too small. Two, I believe a little leniency can be helpful when it comes to rehabilitation. Three, my crew has only three men, including myself, we really need more men on the crew. Fourth, and finally, you're all highly skilled naval men. Still, that doesn't mean you're not being punished just because you're on my crew. I did my reading, and based on your level in the corruption, that will decide how low on the ranks you'll be on the crew here."

The captain of the corrupt soldiers gulped, he knew that meant he would be at the bottom of the pecking order on Spike's crew, and openly said, "I suppose that means I'm on latrine duty my prince-" before correcting himself and saying, "-eh I mean, captain?"

Spike nodded, "I'm afraid it does Blitz Inferno. But you'll still be capable of working your way up to a more respectable position."

After Spike was finished telling everyone their new duties, everyone got to work. Soon enough, everything was being taken care of, from the sails being raised to the decks being swabbed. Spike smiled, "Good, good, everything's set up and proper."

"In that case, let's get sailing!" Spike rallied his new crew and said, "Alright everyone, we're heading out to find the Crystal Coconut, a long-lost treasure once owned by my great-great-great grandfather Night Venture."

"Night Venture? I've never heard of him... what sort of treasure is it?" asked Twilight Sparkle, and when Spike told her of his great-great-great grandfather, she smiled lightly, "Interesting, I never would have thought that piracy runs in your family. Well then, let's be off to find the Crystal Coconut."

And so, with a new addition to his crew, Spike sets off on a new adventure, to find a long-lost treasure that was once owned by his great-great-great grandfather, who in his time, was also a famous pirate, much like Spike himself is now. Where shall this adventure lead? And with a new addition to the crew, who will turn into a new friend, who will turn traitor, and who will become a dangerous enemy? Only time will tell...

"Seriously!? That's the best you can-"

Everyone yelled at once, "PINKIE!"

"Oh fine, I'll leave it alone, for now."

Seriously though, sorry folks, this is all I could come up with for now. I really will try to get to the 1000-word mark on the next chapter, so keep tooned for the next chapter.
