A Friendship's Journey
2. A New World
Previous ChapterNext ChapterI was groaning in annoyance as my body twitched a bit from my position. My blue eyes slowly opened as I took in my surroundings. A plain was in the view as I tilted my head to the side as I was utterly confused.
What happened? Last thing I saw, was my ceiling in my...parents' house as I...then it clicked.
I quickly got up from my uncomfortable position, but fell down again as I let out an 'Oof' sound from my mouth as I blinked in confusion. What now? I looked down on my hands...which turned out to not be hands as I saw blue colored hooves instead. My eyes widened in shock and fear as I quickly turned my head over to get a better look on my body. My human form was no more, being replaced with a blue horse thing instead of my usual skin and such. Eyes looking upwards, I saw an horn sticking out of my forehead as I groaned in confusion, literally.
How the heck did I turn into a blue horse?! I walked over to a pool of glittering water as I took in my new form. I sighed as I lowered my head in confusion and a bit of shame as I knew I was in Hell now.
Hanging my head downward, I began to grumble under my breath.
"Where did I go? Where the Hell am I?" All these new surroundings gave me even more questions to ask.
I saw that my eyes were still blue, which was a relief. But, in this form, how can I fight back if I can't learn on how to use hooves? I need someone to teach me on how to use this form of mine, even if it turns out to be of royalty or something noble.
After some moments of alone time, I decided that, if I should be in this strange world in all of my life now, then I'd better see if I can find someone to teach me how to be like them.
I turned away from the glittering pool of water, then knew that my throat was sore. I sighed as I began to drink like a horse from the pool, with the drinkable source of water flowing through my throat as I gulped it down.
This was embarrassing...
Afterwards, I walked away from the watering pool as I walked to a mountain that had a city outward of it. Better see if I can find someone there, then.
This was a longer walk than expected.
I had gone for about two hours now from the watering hole. I was exhausted, to say in the least. When I managed to get to the city that jutted outwards of the mountain, I took some time to breathe in the fresh air of this world.
I realized that I was in a new world from back there. So, I'd better be like them, if I was going to be with them for the rest of my life.
Anyway, I was now within the city, as I continued to trot in the streets as I began to gain some attention from the bystanders that was looking at me. I shrank back as I was not happy with the attention I was receiving.
Suddenly, I bumped into someone.
"Oof." I groaned as I looked at who bumped into me.
The one I bumped into was an elegant purple, twelve-year old horse with an indigo streak in her lavender mane and tail. She had violet eyes that I found was rather attractive.
Where did that come from?
The purple pony looked at me as she squinted her eyes at me with curiosity. Then, after some inspecting, she spoke.
"Hello," she greeted.
"...Hi..." I shyly greeted, looking away from her gaze.
"You don't need to be shy," she told me. "I'd like to talk with you."
Oh, yeah? Well, let's see where this was going.
"Where are you from?" she asked.
Eyes widening in fear, as I didn't expect that to come first as I thought it could come last.
"Um...somewhere down...near...the forest close to that town..." Gosh, I'm so nervous and shy.
"Oh, you're from Ponyville?" the pony asked in wonder.
"Ponyville...?" I whispered lowly to myself before knowing that she was still waiting for me to answer. "Oh. Oh, yes. I'm from Ponyville." It was weird to say a name after something like that.
"How is it like?" Man, does she has many questions.
"It's rather great, easy and quiet," I replied to her. "It's what you expect from a town like that."
"I know," she sighed. "I sometime wish to move there, but I'm not old enough to do that."
I waited after an awkward silence came between us. "So...what else do you need to know?"
She blinked before she motioned me to her home. "Come. Let's go to my place in Canterlot. I have something to show you."
I gave a shrug as I followed her into the city, which was apparently called Canterlot. God. That almost was the name of Camelot somehow. That's funny, actually.
As I walked with the purple unicorn to her house, I started to ask her one thing I missed back there.
"I didn't get your name," I said.
The pony I was following looked at me with expecting violet eyes. "My name is Twilight Sparkle." She continued to show me the way to her home as I mused something under my breath.
So, her name's Twilight, eh? That is...kinda like a magical name even. Her form, her voice...where did I hear and see that from?
After a while, the two of us managed to get to Twilight's home as I tilted my head at the building that was awfully close to the building in the back, which must be the palace of this place.
When I was done inspecting her home, Twilight motioned me to follow her inside. I accepted her gesture as I sighed in relief from getting away from the public attention of Canterlot.
As Twilight showed me the way to her room, a little six year old looking lizard came up to her as it...spoke.
"Hey, Twilight, you're back!" the lizard happily hugged her as Twilight hugged him back as I stood there.
"Spike."
So, his name is Spike, eh?
"I have somepony that is kinda lost. He'll be staying here for a while after some interaction between him, me and our parents."
Somepony? Isn't it someone? What is the logical name for the species here?
"That's great!" Spike bounced up and down as he spoke. "Somepony to have company with! I've been looking forward to this!"
Man was he excited.
"Don't get too excited, Spike," Twilight reminded him. "He's shy to new faces."
"Oh." Spike nodded in understanding as he smiled at me. "So, you're the new guy in the city?"
"I...am..." I nervously answered as I hung my head a little low.
"No need to be afraid, I won't bite," Spike reassured me as he smiled. "Twilight could show you her parents. They should know the new one before they go out for some shopping."
"Great idea, Spike," Twilight agreed with a nod of her head. "Come...uh..." She tilted her head in confusion as she hadn't thought of my name firsthand when we met back there.
Even I was in a thinking mood. Name...name...name...Got it!
"Dawn," I told her. "Dawn Darkness."
"I'll remember it, Dawn," Twilight smiled thankfully as she motioned me to follow her again.
Once we got to where her parents were, I started to feel homesick as I was still nervous of being in a world I know nothing about. After my retirement of the Jaeger program, I was still remembering the rough times with my brother Chet, who was now dead thanks to that damn Kaiju.
Yes. I still remembers that even in this new form of mine.
"Dawn?" Twilight got me out of my thoughts. "You okay? You look a bit down there."
"Sorry," I apologized, hanging my head low. "Just thinking about a private matter."
"I understand," the purple unicorn nodded. "If you feel like talking about it, you have plenty of time before then."
"I will, eventually," I replied.
We managed to get to where Twilight's parents were at, as the two unicorns looked at us, mostly at Twilight with expecting eyes.
"Twilight, you're back," the light gray unicorn called.
"You're early," the blue one added.
"I ran into somepony, which was the reason of my short trip," Twilight told them.
"Oh?" the light gray unicorn, obviously her mother, raised an eyebrow. "Who is this somepony?"
"Him," Twilight looked at me just then, as I gulped inaudible at the stares I received from her parents.
"So, you've met our daughter?" the blue unicorn asked me with questioning eyes.
"Uh..." I was very nervous now. "...That'll be me..."
"He's rather shy and nervous around new faces," Twilight explained to them. "He's from Ponyville."
"Really?" her mother's eyebrow rose even more. "That's interesting."
The blue unicorn, most likely Twilight's father, looked straight at me in the eyes. I was filled with nervousness and anxiety as I feared the worst. However, to my small surprise, he simply walked up to me and held a hoof out for me to shake.
I was now in confusion.
"We'd like to remember you here," he told me. "So, if we're going to do this, why not speak more with us over dinner? Maybe you'd like to know what we'll get."
Slowly, very slowly, I shook his hoof with mine as he smiled gently at me.
"Tomorrow, we're going to meet the Princess," Twilight suddenly announced to them. "I think she'd like to meet with a new face in Canterlot, as well before we make arrangements."
"Good idea," her father nodded knowingly as he smiled at his daughter. "If you feel that way, why can't he meet with a royal? He'll need to feel welcomed and loved."
I was now very fearful with anxiety. How...can...they...know...I'm not...from...Ponyville...?
Twilight looked at me as the three unicorns looked confused at my state. I was breathing in and out as I was trying to calm myself.
"Dawn?" the purple unicorn looked worried.
I didn't respond, as I suddenly collapsed from the overwhelming feelings that were going all-out against me from within my very being.
