3. Meeting with Royalty

Groaning in annoyance like when I got to this world, I slowly opened my blue eyes as I noticed I was in a book-filled room, and that I was laying on a bed instead the ground.

The light of the sun illuminated the room as I grunted before trying to get up from my position. I saw that Twilight wasn't in the room as I panicked to know I was alone once more in a world I know little about.

As I continued to panic, I tried to calm myself as the door suddenly opened and in came the one I met back there on the streets. Calming myself by inhaling and exhaling, I noticed that Twilight looked worried for my condition.

"You okay?" she finally asked after some moments of silence.

"...No..." I told her honestly. "Panic-stricken is really irritating me, you know. Where were you anyways?" I don't want to feel alone again.

"I was just telling the Princess about a new arrival in the city," Twilight answered.

"...Oh." I felt a bit relieved about that, but by hearing the name of a Princess, made me panic again as I was now breathing in and out.

"Dawn, you need to calm down," Twilight tried to assure me, with little success.

"Sorry..." I apologized, hanging my head in shame. "I don't feel good around folks when mentioning a royal and such."

"I understand," Twilight smiled with gentleness. "How about some breakfast? You must be awfully hungry after a whole day and night before dinner when you collapsed like that yesterday."

My eyes widened in shock as I finally spoke again. "It's already been a day?!"

"Yes," Twilight confirmed with a nod of her head. "You were out for more than ten hours after you collapsed. Ten hours, thirty minutes, and twenty seconds, to be more precisely."

I was out for almost eleven hours?! God, was that longer than how I was normally sleeping before the Jaeger program assignment.

As I continued to sink in the words Twilight told me, I didn't notice her walking out of the room to get me some breakfast.

I was now alone once again. God, this is terrible.

After a while, Twilight returned with a tray of food that was above the ground, in an strange aura. I soon saw that her horn was lighting up with a lavender aura.

"How...do...you do that...?" I was baffled and confused at the use of magic in this world.

"Oh!" Twilight realized, setting the tray down on a table near me. "This is the magic that Equestria uses. There's many different types of magic, in fact. You'll know it after getting a lesson from the Princess."

I began to dig in the food after Twilight explained that to me. As I can't utilize magic yet, I have to eat the food with my blue hooves for now.

I noticed from the corner of my eyes that Twilight blinked in confusion.

"You can use your horn's magic, you know," she told me.

"Sorry, but I can't." I was being honest with her, as I hated lying.

"What do you mean you can't?"

Man, she was asking a lot.

"First off," I began after gulping down some water from the glass. "I can't use magic. I haven't yet learned on how to do it. I'm sorta like a newbie when it comes to magic."

"Still," Twilight started. "I can teach you after the meeting with Princess Celestia, then hopefully you can use your horn while the lessons are on."

"Really?" I asked, hopefully. "You'd teach me?"

"Of course!" Twilight exclaimed with a smile. "I've wanted to teach somepony while being under the teachings of the Princess herself."

I spit out some water on the ground after hearing that. Twilight blinked in confusion.

"Sorry," I apologized again. "So, you're the student of a royal?"

"Pretty much," Twilight nodded, as if it was no big deal.

"Huh." I was now humming in interest as I continued to eat my food. I finally finished my meal as Twilight smiled at me as she spoke once more.

"Come, let's go." Man, was she enthusiastic of meeting the Princess with me.

As I was done washing the tray in the kitchen, which was a bit hard with hooves instead of hands, Twilight and I announced to the former's parents that we'll be out for some time. They understood as they had nodded as me and Twilight walked out of the house, which was a library I came to think of as of late.

Twilight and I walked through the streets of Canterlot once more, as I hung my head low to not get too much attention like yesterday when I arrived. As we continued to walk, I began to be in deep thought as I was hanging my head low.

This Princess Celestia must be pretty honored to have Twilight as her student. Whatever the case is with me, I'll explain some of the things that I went through with honesty. I hate lying to royalty, you know.

After my thinking, the two of us managed to get to the doors of the castle. I was very nervous and was with anxiety as I noticed the guards in front of the gate, having spears in their magic as I nervously looked at them.

The guards only nodded to us as they noticed Twilight with me, which was a good sign as the two of us walked through the large door to the castle. The inside of the castle was white and gray with pillars high enough to hold the rooftop above us. There was a few stained glasses on the walls with some windows. A red carpet laid on the floor, what we were walking on, that is.

We continued to walk forward, as we passed by a white unicorn clad in golden armor. He had blue eyes like me, looking at Twilight.

"Twily!"

"Shiny!"

Huh?

The two hugged each other as I stood there, looking away shyly as the white unicorn looked at me from his position.

"Who's he?"

Did he just ask that?

"That's Dawn," Twilight introduced for me. "His full name is Dawn Darkness. A nice guy to be with, in fact. We've just met recently yesterday before he met our parents. He's rather nervous, shy, and usually quiet."

She just explained my traits to a guy I know nothing about.

"Oh," the white unicorn nodded in understanding, but held skepticism and guard up for some reason. He cleared his throat as I looked at him. "I understand you want to meet up with the Princess, is that correct?" He was having his guard-like attitude now.

"...Yes..." I quietly replied, so low he couldn't hear me.

"Huh?" He tilted to the side with his head. "Didn't quite catch that."

I inhaled a breath as I spoke more clearly. "Yes. I want to meet up with the Princess."

"That's more like it," the white armored pony smiled, pleased, nodding his head as he let us through.

As Twilight led me to the throne room, I looked behind me as I hummed from the way I met up with the white unicorn, who was no doubt Twilight's brother from what she told me afterwards.

Before us, after some more seconds of walking, we were greeted with a door that led to the throne room of this castle. Twilight kindly opened the door for me, as I walked through it as I had gotten a glimpse of the pony sitting on the throne.

A white pony with the wings of a pegasus and the horn of a unicorn sat on the throne. She had a sun-like marking on her flank, as she had light pink, lime green, and blue colored floating hair and tail. She had pink eyes as she smiled warmly at us.

Standing up, the pony gracefully walked down to us as she spoke.

"Twilight Sparkle," she said the unicorn's name first. "I see you've arrived with your new friend."

"Yes, Princess Celestia." Twilight nodded.

So, that's this Princess Celestia.

"May I know your name, my little pony?" Celestia asked me, as I let out an inaudible gulp of nervousness.

"Dawn...Dawn Darkness, Your Highness," I introduced respectfully, as I was now getting a couple of overwhelming feelings like yesterday.

Celestia smiled warmly and kindly. "No need to be so overwhelmed, Dawn. I won't hurt you."

I gasped as she let her horn touch my own horn gently as I suddenly felt more safe with her.

"What...did you do?" I asked for clarification of what she's done.

"I simply let a small portion of my magic inside of you," Celestia told me kindly, smiling once more. "I could tell you had no magic in you, from how you've arrived in Equestria. Can you explain, please?"

Well, as she's asking nicely, I might as well tell her a few things.

"Okay. But, can we do this privately, with no one to hear this?" I questioned her.

"Of course," the larger pony nodded as she looked at the guards and the ones in the throne room. They nodded as they left the room quietly for us to speak with no eavesdroppers.

Celestia looked back at me. "You may begin."

"I'll start from the beginning, alright?" The two nodded as I sighed deeply before starting. "It all happened one day, in a different world unlike yours. I was only twelve back then. I was in a program that controlled giant robots called Jaegers, which was something creatures of myths from your world, has created to combat evil and merciless beings called Kaiju."

"Kaiju?" Celestia tilted her head to the side.

"A word meaning 'strange beast'," I explained.

"Oh." She motioned for me to continue.

"After one day, a couple of months ago," I continued, "I lost someone dear to me, my brother, from a Kaiju that threw him out of our Jaeger. I was depressed, desperate, and hopeless a few weeks later, wishing to see him again, but I was just someone who couldn't do something like a God could. I couldn't bring him back to life. I couldn't see him again. I was alone with my harsh and cold parents who gave me little attention. They were nothing like my brother, who gave me more attention than them. I wanted to get out of their house, but since I am a young boy, I can't live alone in a world with evil creatures on the loose."

"So," Twilight started. "You're what the myths calls...a human? Is that right?"

"I was, but not now," I told her, lowering my gaze as I gave a low, but cold growl. "My parents are nothing like how you are to me. They beat me up, giving me bruises, cuts, you name it. My brother, although kind to lend me a hand afterwards, was giving harsh warnings about helping me. They says they would throw him out if he helped me from their beatings. He couldn't be that way, so he gave me some space when he got their warning."

"That's sad," Celestia noted.

I nodded in sadness as I finished. "After I lost my brother, and returned to their house for more beat up, I was in a flash of light before everything is where I am now."

I didn't realize I told them my whole story. I had told them I was human, which was a bad move for me.

To my surprise, Twilight hugged me tightly as she whispered, "You won't be alone again."

Celestia cleared her throat as Twilight released me from her hug. "Twilight, I'll be putting you in charge for Dawn's well-being. As for him, he'll be in your family for now." That put my hopes up as I was getting acquainted with Twilight rather well.

"I understand, Princess," Twilight nodded. "We'll give him the best treatments he'll ever have. I promise you that."

I gave a small smile as I was dismissed with Twilight by Celestia. Me and Twilight walked out of the castle, before going to her home.

My new home.
