A Friendship's Journey

4. A Week Later

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It's been no more than a week since I arrived in this world. Twilight was kind enough to make comfortable around her parents. She told me, that if I should be in Equestria for a better life than my previous one, I should get more interactions done beforehand.

The light of the sun illuminated in my new room as I lightly groaned until I awoke from my slumber on my bed. I was having an fantastic sleep, only to get ruined by the sun that happened to be rising in the horizon.

Ugh. How I hate the sun sometimes.

As I stretched my limbs after my small awakening, I jumped off my bed as my horn lit up as I adjusted the blanket I slept under to a nice format and comfortable way. After that, I gave a low sigh as I turned around and left the room as I walked down the stairs to the living room of the house that I can call my new home.

I met up with Spike, the green-purple small dragon that I met the other week when I arrived here in Canterlot, who had a pleasant smile on his expression.

"Why the happy face, Spike?" I asked in sly wonder.

"It's a new day of the week," he told me. "Why shouldn't I feel happy, Dawn?"

"Oh, you know," I gave a fake smile. "If something might happen when you were out of the day. Twilight would get pretty worried for you if something was to happen."

"Please," Spike didn't look as enthusiastic like I, as he scoffed. "There'll be nothing wrong today. Meet you at breakfast." He was near the door, when suddenly, he was engulfed in an blue aura as I smirked from behind him, as he struggled to get free from my grip. "Hey! Dawn! Put me down!"

"Who said that it was me that lit up the magical aura?" I was joking around, looking a bit smugly as Spike frowned.

"I can clearly see that it's your horn!" He tried to accuse me, but failed miserably. "No other can have that clear blue aura other than Night Light."

"You're comparing me with him?" I faked a hurt expression. "You're hurting my feelings."

"Cut it out!" Spike exclaimed in a medium voice.

"Okay." Why not?

I let Spike down, a bit harshly as he grunted in little pain from hitting the ground. He got up as he glared at me.

"Not funny," he tried to look like he was sneering, but failed.

I shrugged. "Nothing is like a good fun time, huh?"

"That is not what I call fun," Spike scowled at me. "You could've hurt me, and Twilight would not like it."

"He's right, you know," a voice suddenly joined in the conversation between us boys.

I looked like I was faking innocently, but Twilight wouldn't buy it. She frowned at me for having a little fun with Spike.

"What's wrong with you?" she questioned me.

"Hey, can't a thirteen year old have some fun?" I gave her a small smile.

"That isn't what I could call fun for Spike," she noted.

"Clearly," I then gave a joke, "Maybe if I did it to you, I can get a break for today."

"Hardy har," Twilight scoffed. "Not happening."

"Aw," I joked around. "Can't I just get some fun in a while?"

"After our lessons," she told me.

I sighed irritably as the three of us walked into the dinner room near the kitchen for breakfast. As we sat at the table, Velvet, who was rather caring towards me, walked out of the kitchen as she put the food on the table, as my stomach growled a bit hungrily.

"You can eat now," Velvet told us kindly.

I didn't need to be told twice.

I began to dig in the oatmeal as Twilight went for the sandwiches for now, whereas Spike dig in the pancakes that were also in the menu. We all, even Velvet and Night Light, ate together in silence, as I slowly ate my meal as I wouldn't want to choke myself.

After breakfast, Velvet took the dishes as she went to the kitchen to wash them.

I was in the living room, playing with something as Twilight got up to me, with expecting eyes as I sighed.

"Right. Our lessons," I remembered.

The two of us announced that we would be out for the day to Twilight's parents. They understood that I needed to learn how to utilize magic, as I was nowhere near compared to them.

After coming to a perfect place Twilight thought she could teach me magic, I observed her as she was in thinking mood once again.

Waiting patiently, I stood where I was as Twilight finally began lesson one.

"First, we need to do something simple," she told me. "Can you lift a rock with your aura over there?" She pointed to an rather big rock with a hoof, which she would mean a boulder, actually.

"Pfft. Easy," I said as I walked to where the boulder was, as I stood ready to utilize my magic on it. I concentrated my mind into my inner self, as an magical blue aura started to come out of my horn as the boulder also started to glow with a blue aura around it.

Smirking in delight, I began to concentrate more on my magic as the boulder started to raise from the ground and to the air. However, as a boulder, I was having some trouble making it steady in midair as I started to struggle from holding my grip on it as I grunted. The boulder just landed on the ground again, harmlessly, as I panted a bit from using a bit magic and all just in order to lift it to the air.

Twilight giggled as she noticed my struggle.

"Ugh," I groaned. "This thing is harder than I thought it would be."

"That's because you've never really used magic before, haven't you?" Twilight inquired.

"No," I sighed as I shook my head to clear my thoughts. "I'll have to try again later."

"Alright," Twilight nodded. "Next, lesson two."

"I'm looking forward to this..." I grumbled.

"You'll have to be able to use your hooves to combat other foes," Twilight instructed me. "Just imagine yourself hitting enemies by hitting the air."

I tried to punch the air with a hoof, only to lose my balance as I fell to the side when I also tried to kick behind me. I heard Twilight sigh.

"This will be harder than it would seem..." I heard her whisper out.

"My point," I grunted as I got my balance again after standing back up.

"Try to hit that boulder over there with your magic." Twilight pointed over to a boulder that was a few meters away from me.

I smirked. "A piece of cake."

I readied myself as I started to lit my horn up with my blue magical aura, just as an beam of blue was shot from the horn and hit the boulder dead-on in the middle of it. I was dumbfounded to see that only a crack fell down from it.

"What...?" I was baffled. "What the heck?!" I growled as I charged my magic again, as another blue magical aura was shot from my horn and hit the boulder, harsher than the first time as I saw the boulder was now in pieces from the blast.

Twilight sighed in exasperation when she saw that. "You don't need to use your anger just in order to destroy a rock," she told me.

"Sorry," I apologized as I relaxed. "I was just so...how should I say it? Bewildered that it only received a single crack when I hit it with my normal magic power."

"I understand," Twilight gave another sigh. "But, next time, restrain from using anger when concentrating on your opponents."

"I will," I, myself, sighed afterwards.

"We will take a break for today." Twilight announced.

Really? That was quick.

"Don't be so smug and happy about it, Dawn. Tomorrow, you'll get the same lessons again."

"Who said I was being smug?" I questioned her. She only shook her head in exaggerate. I sighed. "Fine. I'll try to be more precise with them."

"Good," Twilight gave a small, pleased smile as she looked up to the sun, noticing it was in the high afternoon already. "Wow. Time does move pretty fast when you're having fun."

I looked up and saw the sun's midpoint as well. Huh.

"Let's go back home and get something to eat, shall we?" Twilight asked me.

"Let's." I gave her a nod of my head as we began to walk back home.

The next couple of days should be interesting...
