Training Arch Part 5: Flame of the beast

Previous Chapter

Metal was clashing as Spike placed his swords in an X shape, blocking an attack from his father. The grunting was emanating from the young man as the pressure from his father's attack was increasingly difficult to push back. Spike's eyes were full of determination, he was not about to let his father win this bout. Spike narrowed his eyes when he looked up at the old Dorroth gaining a smirk upon his lips.

"So....dad, you ready to even the score?" Spike asked Dorroth, kicking Dorroth away and slashing his right sword towards his father. Dorroth looked down at Spike in surprise when he kicked him away, ready to attack his son again he was stopped when he got hit with the sword. A loud grunt came from Dorroth when he stumbled backward, Dorroth smirked at his son when he saw Spike was improving. But knowing there was much more that he would learn, Spike's father would dash his metal sword swinging toward Spike. Surprisingly, Spike, Dorroth grabbed Spike and picked him up while he was continuing to run forward. Spike turned his head and saw the tree that his father was running the duo toward at a quick pace. Grunting, the young male tried to escape his father's grasp.

"Grr, Let me go!!!" Spike yelled out as he got out of his father's grasp, pushing his feet off of his shoulder Spike flipped in the air as Dorroth continued to run towards the tree. It took the older male to hit the tree with his face to realize he did not have Spike in his grasp any longer. "OOF!" Dorroth let out when he hit the tree, the old dragon slumped down to the ground and had stars spinning around his head as his eyes. Seeing his father in this state Spike fell on the ground laughing, he was holding his stomach as he was rolling onto his sides not seeing a funnier sight than what was in front of him. Meanwhile, Dorroth's head was twirling in circles while he was still in his dazed state.

It took a few moments for Dorroth to get out of his dazed state, the stars disappeared as his eyes no longer spun in circles. Seeing his son on the ground laughing from how he was in a dazed state, had the older man grunt and roll his eyes at his kid laughing at him. Grunting, the older male climbed back onto his feet keeping his hands on the tree he was resting his back against. "Spike, while you have bested me. You did not have to laugh at me while I was on the ground." Dorroth glared at Spike and soon walked over to his son, while the younger male was getting himself from off the ground. Dorroth looked at his son and shook his head, making a fist and bashing his fist into his son's skull. "At least not when I get payback," Spike groaned when he held his head at the excruciating pain from the hit he got from his father.

Moments later, the duo had gotten out from the forest with Spike holding an ice pack against his head, as a large bump had formed from where his father had hit him. "Ugh, you did not have to hit me so hard dad!" Spike groaned, as opened the door to the house. Walking inside with his father following him, Spike sat down on a chair while looking up at the older man. The throbbing pain pulsating through his skull at the lump that was upon his head. Dorroth looked down at Spike and let out a deep bellowing laugh from the situation that Spike was in, this was when Starlight Glimmer entered the foyer and saw Spike sitting there with an ice pack on his head.

"Oh my gosh, Master Spike are you okay?" Starlight let out a worried tone, as she rushed over to the younger male. Quickly the maid took the ice pack off his head and examined where the bruise was. Seeing as the ice pack was helping the swelling go down, she put the ice back on his head and gently caressed the younger male's cheek. "Is there anything I can do for you my lord?" She asked Spike gently, completely filled with worry for the young male hoping he wasn't in too much pain from the bruise. This was when Spike looked up at Starlight with a light blush and lightly chuckled, " I'll be okay Starlight, you don't have to worry about me." Spike assured Starlight, trying to make sure the younger female wouldn't worry about Spike so much. He was not used to having someone like Starlight concerned about him so much. Sure he had Twilight who was the same way, but something about Starlight was different to him. Looking up at her, Spike's cheeks lit up with an even brighter purple as he looked into Starlight's eyes. Seeing something inside of them he never knew he could see in anybody's eyes.

This was when Dorroth cleared his throat seeing the maid, and Spike having a romantic moment. Starlight's Cheeks became an extremely dark red as she backed away from Spike and she then looked at Dorroth bowing towards him. "I am so sorry Master Dorroth I didn't mean to!" She said backing away from the two, and shyly ran away from them. The maid was completely embarrassed how she had gotten so close to Spike like that, especially in front of his father. Spike on the other hand was so confused as to what had just happened, never experiencing anything like that was a shock to the male. While Dorroth was looking at Spike, he let out a large laugh as he had never seen his kid so embarrassed before. "Oh Spike, how it is to be young again," exclaimed Dorroth as he placed his hand on Spike's shoulder, while the older male sat down in the chair that was right next to his son. "Son, let me tell you there will not be many women like her in this world, you have to take every chance you get to be happy my son. Because opportunities like that do not occur often, especially when you are older like me Spike." Dorroth looked out to the office where Celestia was sitting, filling out paperwork to keep her kingdom running. Because even when she is on vacation, the woman is still working.

Celestia looked up from her papers and saw her son and husband talking to each other, smiling softly to herself seeing that it was the right decision for the two to meet. Even if it is later in Spike's life, but deep down Celestia is still worried about her son. She can sense her sister's energy looming around, knowing that she was waiting to strike. Luna used to be caring to Spike until the fateful day that the two sisters had their fight. Thankfully Spike doesn't remember her too much, but only bits and pieces as he wouldn't want him to be caught up in deciding if he should fight her or not. Knowing a day like that is soon to come, and it feels like it would be closer than ever before. Celestia only hoped that her son would be ready for what would come, but only time would be able to tell.
