Training Arch Part 4: Into the deep end

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

It was the next day after Spike had pledged to his dad that he would make sure that Dorroth would be proud of him. Looking at the key blade that was beside his dresser. The young male was deep in his head thinking about the events in his life that had led him to where he is now. Being able to look into his parent's eyes and talk to them, being able to be at the school that he dreamed of so much when he was younger. Spike was smiling to himself as the door opened to his room, revealing the maid Starlight Glimmer once more.

"Master Spike, your parents had sent me-" The girl was able to speak out to the young male before he got out of bed without a shirt on. With his torso exposed to the air, it revealed how much of a toned body the young male had. His stomach revealed the chiseled abs that came from years of working out and practicing the sword-fighting techniques that he had learned. Meanwhile, the maid that had walked into the young master's room, had her cheeks full of a deep crimson. She was not expectant of the young master to be so dashing. She couldn't keep her eyes off of him, even if she was his maid.

"I-I am sorry Master, but you should get ready for breakfast. Your parents are waiting." Starlight quickly let her thoughts escape her lips as she dashed out of the room. She was trying her extreme hardest to not let the young hormones take over her but the sight of Spike was driving her through the roof. Back to Spike, the young male hummed softly as the actions of Starlight were peculiar but he had not known her for long. Maybe the way she was acting, was completely normal to her. Spike smacked his lips and shook his head as the young male was still waking up, his purple hair was a complete mess. Making it look like he had just woken up and got straight out of bed, to be fair which he had.

Spike stretched his arms out with a loud groan, several pops coming from his body and letting his muscles stretch and contract, allowing his entire body to wake up and get ready for the day ahead of him. As his father told him yesterday, today would be his first training day. He needed to be able to get ready for any threats that would come his way, Spike was determined to protect his family and his loved ones. He was not about to let any harm come to any of his friends, especially Twilight Sparkle. He just was able to reconnect with her, and he was not about to let anybody harm her or take her away in any way.

The young male was getting dressed when his companion Ryze squawked at Spike. "Spike!! My partner, we must not delay we have to get the delectable nutrition in our bodies before our big day of training. I implore you to please hurry!" Spike rolled his eyes and let out a soft chuckle at the words his familiar was speaking to him with, "Oh Ryze, just say that you are hungry for my mom's phoenix food." From Spike's reply, Ryze had gotten embarrassed and turned to the side - "I have no idea what you mean, Spike." The young male walked towards the old phoenix and gently patted his head, "Mhmm, yeah I sure believe that" Spike let out oozing sarcasm and humor. The young male finished buttoning his pants, as he slipped into his shoes, getting up from his chair Spike walked out the door with a bright smile on his face trying to keep a good attitude about what would happen later on today.

After minutes of walking through the confusing corridors of the large mansion, Spike made his way back to the feasting hall where his parents were sitting eating the breakfast that was prepared for them. Sitting down at the table, Spike greeted his parents as a plate of food was placed on the table in front of the young man. Spike looked down at the food and was astonished at how much his parents wanted him to eat today, he knew he was going to need a lot of energy for today but the amount of food alone was astonishing to him. Nonetheless, Spike took his fork and began to dig into the breakfast that was placed in front of him.

Looking upon their son, both Celestia and Dorroth smiled at each other when Spike was eating his food. "So son," Dorroth spoke out aloud gathering the young male's attention. "After you are done eating I want you to meet me in the forest, and bring the blade with you." Dorroth gave a simple order to the male, which he knew Spike would intend to follow through. Spike nodded towards his father as he continued to scarf down all the food he could fit into his body. Spike normally would not eat loads of food as he did not have a big stomach, but seeing as he would be training regularly from now on Spike would have to start eating more food from now on. Spike surprisingly to himself finished all the food that was on his plate, while it took longer than his parents he was still able to finish everything that he had to eat. And like his father requested he was about to meet him in the forest. Quickly the male ran to his room and grabbed his blade, putting it in the scabbard that was strapped to his back Spike began on his journey.

In the forest, Spike could hear all the wild animal sounds. Some were familiar to him, others not. This made the young male increasingly worrisome as he was unsure if anything was following him. His father did not allow Ryze to come with him, as he had to focus on his physical and mental strength without his companion. Spike took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves as he heard a loud wooshing noise behind him. Darting his eyes, the young male took grip of the handle of the sword ready to unsheathe it when the time came. He closed his eyes, listening in to the sound, and quickly drew the sword and blocked the attack the young male could sense coming towards him.

"Good, you did listen to your tutor. Listening instead of seeing attacks coming towards you." Dorroth said in a hushed voice, he wanted to surprise his son and try to get a sneak attack on him which had just failed. Spike smirked and nodded, "Yeah it's hard not to listen when you are knocked onto your behind several times and were told to do it again." Dorroth smirked at his son's explanation of when he was training when he was at home. Spike took a step back and put his sword down towards the ground, taking another deep breath as his nerves calmed down."So what do we start with first?" Spike asked his father as he looked around the forest, still amazed by the fact there were so many sounds created by nature around him. Owls hooting, the sounds of crickets making their chirps, birds talking to each other, and the sounds of wolves howling despite it not being nighttime.

He hummed softly as his father looked directly at Spike, Dorroth placing his larger hand on his son's shoulder, gently massing his thumb into his shoulder blade. "We shall start with embracing the sword, that blade that is in your hands is much more than just a blade and a whip. That weapon can do so much more than you could ever imagine, it takes the thoughts of the one who is wielding it and will transform itself into what its wielder wishes." Spike looked at the blade intrigued by what his father was telling him, he didn't understand how metal could take its owner's thoughts and transform itself. He always thought it was just a special sword that could turn into a whip. Closing his eyes, Spike thought about what he wished the sword could turn into.

A bright light emanated from the blade, it caused Dorroth to shield his eyes. Even for a dragon-like himself, the male's eyes were not strong enough to look into the light directly. Moments after, Dorroth opened his eyes to look upon his son seeing the blade had transformed like he had explained. It looked similar already to its previous form but instead, the weapon duplicated itself. Dorroth for a moment was confused as to why his son would want two swords instead of one, but Spike would soon display as to why he had done this. The young male gripped both of the swords and whipped both of the swords towards a tree branch, having the lengthened blade wrap around it. Flicking the handles, Spike was shot towards the branch, with the blade shortening like a rubber band. Landing on the branch, Spike gave his father a smirk "Now this is what I call an upgrade!" Spike bellowed out with a laugh, Spike himself always enjoyed dual-wielding weapons. It allowed him to have more of a versatile stance in terms of swordplay. But being able to combine his ideas into the weapon truly allowed him to do what the male wished.

Dorroth looked at his son amazed, not even himself could have ever thought that the blade could do something like that. Smirking, the older dragon clapped his hands loving that his son was truly embracing how the weapon worked making his fighting style even more unique to himself. "Good job my son, you truly impress an old man like me. If we continue like this, we can truly get you ready for anything coming your way." Dorroth congratulated his son, crossing his large arms together with a large smile plastered on his face. Being able to see what truly has become of his son, is making the older gentleman proud. But behind this happy face of the man, was a father who was worried that his son would get hurt in the upcoming years. He could only protect him so much until Spike had to become his own man, nodding softly Dorroth let out a sigh and looked out into the woods.

"Spike....my son, as you know I am growing in my years. And I want to make sure that when the time comes, you will be able to protect yourself and those around you. We may not have the dragons around now, but in the years to come you may have to fight some of them. Have to fight the kind you share biology with, but unlike us, they fight dirty. They take any chance they can to win the fight, whether or not it means sacrificing their blood. Spike my son, you must be ready to fight any one of them and be able to continue with the fight. What I am saying my son is....will you be able to do this? Be able to be the protector I know you can be?" Dorroth spoke out letting his deepest thoughts exit his mouth, the male was truly worried and needed to know his son could take the fight to the dragons. To be able to fight and win in any challenge that he may face.

Spike jumped down from the branch and walked up to his father, nodding as he put the swords on his back in an X shape. Taking a deep breath he looked into his father's worrisome eyes and smirked, "I will father, I am determined to succeed in my goal. The fire that burns within me will continue to burn on, even after I am down on one knee in front of my enemy. You have given me the desire to protect my friends and family, and I shall do so with a smile on my face. Believe me, Dad, I will do everything I can to succeed." Spike spoke to Dorroth, taking steps to be closer to his father. Being almost face-to-face with his father, Spike brought Dorroth into a large hug and patted his father's back. "I promise Dad, I will do everything in my power to succeed."

Dorroth, empowered by his son's words let the worries exit his mind. He truly believed his son and knew if his heart was put towards it he would succeed. Nodding, Dorroth let go of his son and crossed his arms once more. "Alright son, let's continue on our training next. We must truly get you acquainted with this weapon." Spike smirked as he grabbed both the swords and brought them to his side. Ready for anything that his father would do, wanting to be the very best he could be Spike was determined to destroy his enemies in any situation.

The camera zoomed away from a crystal ball that had shown a display of Spike and his father in the forest, Spike began to run towards the forest with a determined look on his face. "So the rebel has birthed a son? We must destroy him at any cost!" Said a high-pitched voice. "But we can not leave this cave, we do not have enough power to even harm a fly how can we destroy him?" Said another voice but more scratchy than the first voice.

"Girls, I think I have an idea," Said another voice, that was much deeper but extremely feminine, that is when the crystal ball showed an image of a red dragon. Training with his staff, the cocky dragon with a large ego named Garble was training with his mentor. "We can convince him that, what he is training for is false if we can pull his ego enough," continued the last voice. A swirl of purple smoke surrounded the ball as three cackles of women filled the air around the table.

Celestia was sitting in a chair, and she felt the familiar presence of someone who she hadn't felt in a very long time. Her eyes glared when she looked at Ryze who was chowing down on his food, her gaze now softening when she was thinking about her son. 'I hope he will never have to meet her' Thought Celestia, she was worried about her son and the future. Hoping there would never have to be a time that he would have to decide a situation like she had to endure many many moons ago. Celestia softly gripped her glass of wine and took a gentle sip, looking out the window of the castle and sighing sadly thinking of her sister that had gone with the dragons.

A younger Celestia with a satchel held against her side, was walking towards decrepit ruins using her hands to push away brushes and vines hanging from tree limbs as she made her way through the woods. Amazed at the sight of the ruins that she had never even heard of during her studies when she was being trained by her tutors. Walking closer to the ruins, loud panting could be heard as running footsteps came closer to the female. "Tia!!! Why are you being so quick? It's only a small...-woah" Let out a blue-skinned female. Her teal eyes widened at the large ruins that stood in front of her. "What were you saying, Luna?" Asked the younger Celestia, being distracted by writing in the leather notebook she had taken with her to document any discoveries the pair made while their hike through the woods. Luna was still amazed at the castle when she noticed a large-looking stone tree, walking closer to it she noticed several colored gems that were embedded inside of symbols strewn throughout the limbs. One symbol looked like a star, one of a lightning bolt, one of a butterfly, one looking like a diamond, one of an apple, and finally, one that had the shape of a balloon.

Luna took note of the shapes of the gems, as she was intrigued as to why nobody had found these ruins. Let alone not taking the gems that were clearly inside of the tree. Celestia took notice of Luna and walked towards her, seeing the tree for herself. "It cannot be.....I've only heard rumors from folk tales. But never in my life would I think I would have been able to see it with my own eyes." Celestia gently placed her hand on the trunk of the tree and gently brushed her hand across it.

"Luna!!! You are my sister I cannot fight you!!!" Said a slightly older Celestia as the sky was filled with lightning, and thunder clapping filling the air with loud booms as the two sisters stood across from each other. Luna looked at Celestia with disgust, "You never treated me like your sister Tia! You always treated me like I was a lesser being inside of your shadow! Well no longer! I am now.....NIGHTMARE MOON!!!!" Yelled out the growing being that once stood in Luna's place. Her skin was a deeper blue, with her hair turning purple with white glowing specks looking like stars in her hair. Celestia's eyes were filled with regret as she heard the voice of her sister change as she transformed. "I am sorry Luna! Please let me make this right!" Celestia continued to yell to her sister, "It is too late for that, I must take my place as the Supreme Ruler!" Nightmare Moon had an evil smile on her face as she let out an evil Cackle.

"I am sorry for this Luna, perhaps one day you can forgive me" Celestia spoke to herself as her eyes glowed a pure white. The gems they had found when they were younger, floating and spinning behind Celestia as she began to float in the air, the gems spinning faster as they had begun to glow in their respective colors of purple, red, orange, blue, pink, and teal.

Nightmare Moon looked upon her sister as the gems had glowed, "No!!! I was supposed to be able to control the gems, not you!!!" She had yelled as a white beam had struck Nightmare Moon, "NOOOOO!!!!" She yelled out in pain as the female had disappeared and a shadow of her remained on the ground.

Present day, Celestia sighed as Ryze took a glance at Celestia. "Is there something bothering you Spike's mom?" Asked the phoenix as he gulped the food in front of him. The female gave the phoenix a small smile as she looked out towards the forest seeing Spike jumping above the tree line and fighting her husband. "I just hope the future will be better than I imagine Ryze, that's all" She let out a sad sigh as Celestia closed her eyes.
