Vinyl's P.O.V.
"Vinyl, dear, hurry up" Tavvy said "We're here to meet your parents, after all!" I nodded and quickened my pace. It seemed as though it was only yesterday that I popped the question... I mean it was yesterday but who cares!? I rushed ahead to take the lead, since I OBVIOUSLY know where my parents live...
"Vinyl, I think we've been here before" LUNA DAMMIT! She noticed! What do I do now? I looked left and right trying to find a way out until I heard...
"VINYL!! IS THAT YOU!?" from a distance. I looked to the left and you know what I see? A pegasus mare with a curly and purple afro and a pink coat, she wore a jade necklace and some owl earrings.
On her flank was a cutie mark of a radio with musical notes surrounding it. It was Mom.
She galloped towards and started talking in the typical Fillydelphian accent "Vinyl, it is you! I just came out of Ponymart and what do I see? My favorite and only daughter!" She hugged me and faced towards Tavvy and said "And who is this charming mare I see?"
Tavvy, who was flabbergasted*, responded by saying "He-hello there, I'm Octavia Melody, Vinyls fiance. Pleasure to meet you" I could see that Tavvy was really nervous, which when I think about it, is a new one for me. She's always so brave, strong, beautiful an- never mind, but you see I've never seen her nervous before.
*It's a funny word, isn't it?
"Oh, you're Vinyls fiancé?" Mom responded with smirk on her face. She is soooo gonna embarrass me "Vinyl, you never told me you proposed to such a dashing mare" She faced Tavvy again and said "Well Octavia, my name is Catchy Jingle, but you can call me Mom" In the corner of my eye, I could see Tavvy blushing.
Oh no "And Vinyl, I never knew that you were into mares too! Oh, I could have organised so many more playdates for you!" Oh Celestia, now I'm blushing. "Do you remember the time when that nice young colt, Mud Briar, ask-"
Thankfully, Tavvy noticed my embarrassment "Okay 'Mom' why don't we continue the conversation indoors?" Oh thank you Tavvy! I could marry you right now! "I was wondering if I could meet Vinyl's dad... If he isn't busy, of course"
Now it was Mom who was blushing, "Oh, Well... You see, Vinyl doesn't have a father..." Tavvys's face started to fall and luckily Mom noticed and responded "Oh no. It's not like that! You see, I'm married to a mare!"
After Mom answered the question, she started to go further ahead, blushing a bit.After a quick look of relief, realisation crept up to her face "Does that mean..." She looked towards and I answered her question with a nod. I could see the regret in her eyes "I'm sorry Vinyl, I didn't know"
I couldn't stand to see Tavvy be sad, so I hugged her and we kept going."Okay! Here's the house!" Mom said. Behind her was my old home. It was the same as it had always been, humble and welcoming.
The front yard, as always, had the swing I played on as a foal, shame that it rusted over the years. Mom unlocked the grass green door and let us in. It looks like they changed the interior a bit and Dear Bucking Celestia, It look cool as hell!
Instead of the boring old white wallpaper, Mom had changed it to a music beat wallpaper* but WAIT!
*Like those cool things you see that change the look when the pitch rises
The floor had a layout of Piano keys and you wanna know the cool thing about it? You could actually hear the notes and then you could see the pitch of the notes on the walls!
Finally after a moment of awe, Tavvy finally said something to break the ice "I love what you've done with the place, Mrs Jingle!"
"Why, thank you, Octavia! It was really my wife's idea" Mom responded "She's has an AMAZING eye for these things!" Mom 2 was always good at this shtick. She was the one who gave me shades and told me to dye my hair blue.
Yeah, my hair isn't naturally blue, it's originally white. Now just imagine the famous DJ PON-3, with white hair... Yeah, absolutely horrible.We kept on chatting about the house and the embarrassing playdates that I went on as a child, until...
"Hey Catchy, I'm home!" The loud voice rang throughout the house. We all looked towards the door to see a black coated mare with a rainbow mane. And by rainbow, I mean the actual colours of the rainbow were dyed to her hair, making her mane look like Rainbow Dash's more than Celestia's.
In all honesty, not a lot of ponies dye their mane since most ponies coat's already harmonises with their manes. Along with her mane and coat she wore a pair of shades, some awesome earphones* and wore a crimson red necklace.
*Still not as cool as my headphones though!
It was Mom 2.
Octavia's P.O.V.
In entered Vinyl's other Mom, and yes, I can definitely see where Vinyl got her fashion choice from. The two looked so similar, almost as if they were twins.
What really shocked me was her pitch black coat. This is since you don't really get dark coated ponies in Equestria since it's a gene more commonly found in places like Bridleland, Germaneigh or even Neighpon if you look hard enough.
Another trait that surprised was not her rainbow mane but her cutie mark, naturally I thought that it would be a musical cutie mark like Vinyl's but no. It was actually a cutie mark of an eye with a multi coloured iris. Maybe that what Mrs Tune meant by "having an amazing EYE for these things".
She looked at me and said "Uh... who are you?" She then spotted Vinyl and said "Oh, Hi Vinyl. Didn't know you were coming. Neat. Anyway Catchy! Who is this? You're not cheatin' on me are you?*" The way she talked was rather odd for a mother. I was thinking that she would talk gently and like Mrs Jingle, not like some angsty teenager who's had too much to drink! Although it's possible that she's from Manehatten.
*She said that part as a joke, if you didn't get it.
In response to the question posed by Vinyl's other mom, Mrs Jingle said "Ha, Ha, Iris. I'll have you know that this is Vinyl's fiance!" As she points her hoof to me. All I could do was just say a a simple "Hello".
'Iris' stared at me, up and down, then looked at Vinyl and grinned "Looks like my little girl has finally got hitched" Vinyl simply rolled her eyes. Iris then looked at me, "Hi, I'm Iris Prism! I'm also your fiancé's mother. And you must be..."
"Octavia Melody, your daughter's fiance and also extremely nervous!" I quickly covered my mouth. Now is not the time for jokes Octavia!In response Mrs Prism simply said "I like this one" I mentally face-hooved.
Seriously! I can't believe she made a 'FriendGame' reference! Although it did break any tension that was in the room. Vinyl fell on the floor laughing whilst Mrs Jingle groaned. Poor mare probably has to deal with this nonsense everyday! Though I can see the appeal...
"I should've never have taken you to see that movie" Moaned Catchy, she then looks at me "Did you know that her favourite character is Purple Arrow?!"
I raised my eyebrow at that "Seriously!?" I hear, "She's Awesome! And she's called Ronin now!" Looks like this topic that's been talked about many times. "Hey, you guys are staying the night right?"
"Yes, we have a flight tomorrow, but we still need to find a hotel" Shame there's only 3 stars here.
"Nonsense!" Responded Catchy "Stay with us! Vinyls room has a Princesses sized bed, so you two can sleep there! Just no funny business!" She looks at me with a sultry grin. Dear Celestia, don't do this to me.
"Hey Vinyl, wanna see your old room!" Iris asked. Vinyl nodded and started walking. I started to follow her but Iris said "Vinyl, I think Catchy needs you" So I stayed behind.
"Octavia dear, sit down" Huh, what's happening? "I take it that you've noticed some... Things about my daughter"
"Uh... Yes I have, but I still treat and love her like she's any other beautiful mare!" I quickly respond. And if you're wondering, everything I said is true.
"That's good to hear, but I'm going to tell you something that only a few people know" Hmm, what was she going to tell me?
"You see, Vinyl isn't a born mute" Wait... WHAT!!! I manage to hide my absolute disbelief whilst Catchy continues "Yes, I know you're shocked but there's more to come. You see, before Vinyl lived with us, before she was at the adoption home, she had normal life and a beautiful voice. Some called her a siren. It was all going well for her until, one night a vile burglar broke in to her house. But it wasn't just any burglar... It was The Reaper!" I gasp, The Reaper was a notorious murder who killed over 50 mares using specialised prosthetic hooves, which he used to brutally slice his victims into millions of tiny bits. He suddenly went missing one day and no one has heard from him since.
"Immediately, he slaughtered both of her parents. He did the act right in front of her..." At this point, Catchy was already in tears and I was trying to how back mine "And then she had a magical surge, it amplified her voice by tenfold and her screams exploded his head.
"The poor filly crawled into a ball and silently cried. The therapists say that she suffers from a thing called 'Selective Mutism' , it's like her sub-conscience is afraid of speaking again or she just can't. She gotten better after we adopted her, happier, but we've only gotten a couple of words from her. She's probably going to start talking to you a little bit" At this point, I had already started sobbing, It was horrible. The mare I loved had so, so much. We had so much to talk about after this.
A couple of minutes went by and shed the last of our tears. Soon Vinyl and Iris came back in and immediately rushed to give Vinyl a hug and a kiss.
"So you told her..." It was more of a statement than question "Well, congrats Vinyl, you caught yourself a real catch, right Catchy?" I heard a familiar groan occur again.
"I take it, that since I'm marrying Vinyl, that I'm going to have to tolerate these ghastly jokes" That made everyone chuckle, luckily.
"HEY! They're not that bad!" But the damage was forever done. For now and forever, Iris Prism shall be 'The Grand Dad Joker' of Vinyl's family.
"Anyway, dad jokes aside, what Whinny Movie do you guys want to watch?" Catchy asked. I despise Whinny Movies, they're always about princesses, like in 'Chilly', a movie about some unicorn princess with a magic imbalance resulting in her using uncontrollable ice magic. Stupid right?
"Could we possibly watch some LunaWorks movies?" They looked at me weirdly, did I just marry into a Whinny Family...
"YOU LIKE THEM TOO!!" Shouted Iris. She grabbed me and gave me a hug "She likes them too!" I looked at a mirror and saw my face, a face of utter confusion.
Noticing my confusion, Catchy said "She loves those movies, but she can't find a fellow fan. I've been meaning to watch them but my schedules is tight. Luckily I not working tomorrow, so..." She looks at Catchy with a smile. "Why don't we watch some today?"
"Wait, I've never actually asked you two what your jobs were!" Now I feel a little bit embarrassed. What kind if daughter-in-law am I?!
"Don't worry, we understand, you two have had quite a day! Well Iris here does a multitude of things, she's an architect, interior designer, exterior designer and she paints in her spare time! And me? I'm just a host at the local radio station"
"Yeah, but not just any radio station! She's the host of Filly FM!" I gasp. Filly FM is the biggest and most popular radio station in Equestria! It even reaches to Yakyakistan!
"Hey, lets just choose the movie!" Said Catchy chuckling.
Iris was smiling like a madmare until Vinyl got our attention, she was hold something, a DVD case, a movie collection perhaps, I think it was... "The How To Befriend a Wendigo Collection, great idea Vinyl!" I give her a peck on the cheek and went to the TV to insert the disk.
We all sat down on the sofa and started watching the masterpiece. Somehow Iris and Vinyl had already eaten several buckets of popcorn by the end of the first movie. After the end of the second movie Catchy had used three boxes of tissues. She kept on saying "Poor boy". Then the third movie finished, and as we got up, Catchy said "That was AMAZING! The main character, Sneeze, has an excellent character development throughout the movies and that mare, Asteroid, is the perfect romantic interest! And Sneeze's Wendigo, Mouthful, is sooo cute!" Looks like someone got converted.
After that, we turned the lights on. Turns out Vinyl had gone to sleep. So I said good night to my new in-laws and carried Vinyl on my back.
As I put my love on the bed, I get flashbacks of my life ever since we first met. My annoyance of her untidiness, me trying to get her into classical, her trying to get me into her drivel and even when we both discovered a new genre, weirdly named 'Vinyl Melody'.
I crawl into bed next to her as she quietly snores. I've never been more happier in my life than the time we first kissed, the first time we met or the time she... Finally proposed to me. And I'm happy, I have chance to have a complete and loving family.
I finally close my eyes, drifting off, hoping Luna gives me a goodnights rest. Tomorrow's a big day.

Octavia & Pancakes (Side Chapter)
Octavia's P.O.V
I rubbed my eyes as I rose from my deep slumber. I looked to my right to find Vinyl, just to see nothing there, she must've woken up before me. I hope I didn't make bad impression by waking up late.
I put on my tie and walk downstairs. Is that the smell of pancakes? I rush down see that it was.And it was amazing. Around 50 pancakes piled up on to each other. I start walking towards the tower.
"Hey, looks like our very own sleeping beauty finally woke up!" I look behind me and I see Catchy, Iris and Vinyl, all chuckling.
"What's so funny?" I ask, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, it's nothing!" Responded Catchy "It's just that you're acting like you've never eaten pancakes!"
"I- I haven't," Now that was a white lie. I have eaten pancakes once, but that was when I was a mere foal.
It was my birthday, back when my parents were together, I had asked mother if I could have pancakes for breakfast.
For the first time she had said yes and I was absolutely overjoyed. The cooks prepared it immediately, so by the time I finished my shower and was at the bottom of the stairs, the pancakes were finished. They smelled DIVINE! I sat down on my chair, looking towards the monument.
I looked to my right, my father was eating apple pie. I looked to my left, my mother was eating quail eggs and caviar. Same as always, I sigh.
I lift up my fork. Silver and ornate, just how mother likes it. I hold it above the pancakes. And I stab them. As my mind wonders what it'll taste like, I hold it towards my mouth...
It was nice. Like, not the best thing I've ever had, but it wasn't bad. Of course I didn't tell this to my mother, she would be livid. But it felt to me, that the pancake was missing something but I never knew what it was...
I snap back to the present. It turns out that whilst I was back in my past, my in-laws added what seemed like a million things on the pancakes. Blueberries, marshmallows, Syrup, Sprinkles... And are those sliced bananas I see?
My eyes widen as I stare up and down, in awe of this towering work of art. After adding the finishing touches, Catchy said "There is no way in Tartarus, that I'm letting someone marry my daughter, without eating a single pancake" Vinyl simply nodded "Dig in"
She hands me fork and knife. I'm supposed eat this whale of a breakfast, by myself, with these miniscule tools! I take a deep breath...
STAB! I skillfully slice up a portion of pancake, making sure that it has most of the topping on it. And by Celestia, it looks heavenly.
I look to my left and right, seeing that both my wife and my in-laws are waiting for my reaction. So I took a bite. Then another. And another. I couldn't stop, it was too good.
It was like I ate the softest pillow in the world and it explode into pure sugar. It was like Pinkie Pie threw all the best products SugarCube Corner into my mouth. In other words, it was delicious!
I look at Catchy, and I realised what was missing in those pancakes I had all those years back... It was a mothers love. Something that my mother was devoid of.
I start finishing off the gargantuan meal until Catchy said "Sooo, when's your flight?"
"Oh it's at half past is one, why?"
"Because it's one o'clock..." I quickly turn around to look at the clock, and sure enough it was 1 o'clock.
"Vinyl! We need pack up! Quick!" I shouted. But in a surprising turn of events, Vinyl and Iris came in with the suitcases, all fully packed "Don't tell me you..."
"Yeah, we did! Consider it a small gift from me and Catchy!" That was- that was so generous of them! Kind even! To think that they showed such loyalty to me and Vinyl! Honestly, this family has made my life so magical and full of laughter!
I start tearing up and I can feel the questioning looks fall upon me. "Vinyl, is Octavia one of those mares who like to pack up by themselves?" I heard Iris say.
"It's not that Iris, it's just that no one has ever done something so nice for me". I respond "You all have made me feel- you've made me feel like I'm finally part of something!"
Catchy rests her hoof on my shoulder, "You're part of our family Octavia, you always will be" Iris and Vinyl come towards us, and we all share a hug, "Anyway, I think it's time for you to go now".
"Yes, you're right! Come on Vinyl, we have a flight to catch!" I grabbed two of the suitcases and started headed out the door. "Catchy, Iris, I want to thank you, for everything" They both nodded and smiled.
As I stepped out of the house, I looked at Vinyl and said "Well Vinyl, I hope you're mentally prepared. It's time to meet my parents!"
