My Little Pony: The Game
Left Behind

Everyone looked at where the elements had hit. There was nothing but a charred spot on the stone. For a moment, all of the ponies stood completely still. One could hear the distant laughs of Discord from his stone prison.
"Uhhh…. anypony know what happened?" Said a very confused Rainbow. No one answered for a moment. Once again, everything was silent.
Twilight slowly made her way over to the scorched stone in front of her. She slowly dragged her hoof on the blackened, thousand year old castle floor. Tears suddenly welled up in her eyes, but it went unnoticed to everyone in the decaying room.
Sadness also filled Celestia as well. She just lost another close to her, a pony close enough to be her own child. She has her sister back, but lost another in the process. Someone who saw her in her lowest moment, and comforted her with a smile. Now she's... Celestia didn't even know. Whenever the elements acted before, they would always leave a clue to what they did.
The solar princess looked around the room, trying to find any evidence of her whereabouts. At this time the others present started to knock themselves out of their stunned states.
"Sister, what doth thou think happened to that filly?" Said the princess of the night.
"I... don't know. The elements always leave a clue as to what they did, but I can't find any." The elder sister said, a feeling of dread and fear rising within her.
Suddenly her search was halted by the sound of a flash. Quickly turning her head she saw that Twilight was nowhere to be seen.

It can't be that! Anything but that! The elements would never do that, would they?! I quickly looked through the contents of the library for reference to something like this, not even caring if I disturbed Spike or Smokes sleep. I finally found a book that might help.
I quickly opened the book and stopped at a section that was labeled 'Effects of The Elements'.
The Elements of Harmony are a very strange set of artifacts, connected to a set of users that represent one of their attributes. This allows the elements to be able to tell when the user is a fake or has lost that attribute, in which case they will either destroy the one attempting to use it or cut themselves off from the user.
Another thing to understand is their levels of use. Depending on the strength of the being they are being used against, they can do a multitude of things. They will often seal or petrify their targets, but there has been one known exception.
When the elements were first created, they were a completely different set of artifacts. This set had the attributes Strength, Prosperity, Love, Confidence, Respect, and Spirituality. These ancient elements were used by a group of sages to kill the tyrant warlord Zong Dhuo. After this the elements would go through many changes until their modern form.
While it is highly unlikely, it is possible for the elements to still possess the ability to kill.
No...
I felt my hind legs give out from under me, but I didn't stop it. I curled myself up. It can't, they wouldn't. Tears finally broke through my closed eyes.
The Elements of Harmony, the symbols of harmony and caring.
Killed my sister.
(3rd P.O.V.)
The citizens of Equstria celebrated the defeat of Nightmare Moon, and the return of Princess Luna. Though under the happy joyful partying and drunken debauchery, tears silently fell across both Canterlot and Ponyville. For so you see, for the second time in a thousand years...
The elements split another pair of sisters.
