Equestrian Outbreak
Chapter 17: Conflict
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSunset was with Cadence walking through the halls of Canterlot Castle, Sunset frowned “Are you sure this a good idea?”
Cadence smiled “It will be fine, Shining Armour will love you I promise.”
Sunset raised an eyebrow she doubted that, she knew she had probably wronged him at some point in the past “I hope you’re right.”
The two entered a room, the walls were covered in pink and red hearts were on the walls. Cadence frowned “I must admit Auntie was a bit over the top when making the room fit my talent.” Cadence then called out “Shiny, are you home?”
Shining Armour trotted out only to frown at Sunset “Why is she here?’
Cadence smiled “I wanted to introduce you to Sunset.”
Shining Armour scowled “I don’t see why” before Cadence could say anything else he stormed over to Sunset “I remember you, I was just a rookie when you basically mocked the entire force. You even turned the captain into a frog for a laugh.”
Sunset winced before turning to Cadence “I knew this was a bad idea.”
Sunset left the room, Shining Amour was feeling good. He had been wanting to let that out for a long time, that feeling vanished as he turned to Cadence who was trembling with barely contained rage her eyes glaring at him with fire “Are you fucking kidding me! You made a liar out of me, I promised Sunset that this would all go fine! What’s worse is you insulted my cousin, you are sleeping on the couch for the next six months!” He was about to reply when she glared at him dangerously “One more word and you’re on the couch for a year!” He stood there silently as she stormed out.
Sunset frowned as she approached her room, she entered to see Spike frowning “Are you okay?”
Sunset sighed “Just someone else who hates for how much of a bitch I used to be” she smiled weakly “Spike, I have been through far worse than this so don’t worry I’ll get over it I always do.”
Spike grimaced “That’s not the point, just because you can go over doesn’t mean you should, we’re family.” tears began to fill his eyes “I am worried every time you leave, that you won’t come back and when you do you hold everything so tight to you chest, why?”
Sunset felt tears welling in her eyes “I get nightmares, I see Canterlot covered in zombies as I slay everypony I ever cared about because they have been infected. By the time I arrived at the castle I find Celestia and Cadence dead. Zombies swarming over their corpses.” By the end Sunset was crying loudly.
Cadence burst in only to see Sunset crying, she placed a wing over her “I’m sorry about Shining Armour, I didn’t think he would ever behave like that. He is on the couch for a six months.”
Spike looked up “That’s not the reason why.” Spike carefully explained everything.
Cadence felt tears welling up in her eyes as Sunset tear began to subside “You’ve been dealing with this for so long, why haven't you told me or your mum about this?”
Sunset grimaced “I shouldn’t haver even let it get this, far, I’m for lack of a better term a soldier and I don’t have time to be hurt or cry. I must go.”
Cadence shook her head as a barrier appeared in front of the door “I can’t let you go, you don’t have to be alone anymore.”
Sunset looked back with a frown “You can’t stop me, so don’t try.”
Both were interrupted by a burst of green flame as a purple drake’s eyes met hers “Maybe not but I just told someone who might.”
A ball of flame entered the room and expanded revealing Celestia in all her majesty, Celestia turned to Sunset a look of desperation “Let us comfort you, we’re your family. You can trust us please.”
Sunset shook her head “I will not burden my family” she turned around her eyes glowing red “I’m a monster, you know that.”
Sunset then gripped her head as her eyes glowed green “Stop hurting yourself, Sunset this is not the way.”
Sunset growled “Look I just need some time alone and I’ll be fine~” Sunset forced control of her body and teleported away from the group.
Celestia frowned “I’ll get the guards to locate her, she can’t have left the city.”
Celestia had no idea how wrong she was. Sunset was now in a nearby town trying to keep the tears away, a pale persian blue pegasus mare with light brilliant amber mane approached “Are you okay?”
Sunset looked up trying to shake away the tears in her eyes “I’m fine.”
The mare shook her head “You’re not fine, come to my place and I’ll make sure you have a roof over your head for the night.”
Sunset grimaced “I don’t need you help.”
The pegasus mare wrapped her wings around the mare refusing to let go“You need help!”
Sunset began slamming the back of her forelegs into the mare “Get off me whoever you are, I just need to be alone!”
The mare growled “My name is Cloud Kicker and I won’t let you keep hurting yourself!” Even as blood started dripping out of her muzzle Cloud Kicker refused to let go “Listen to me, I’m here to help if you would just stop struggling.”
Sunset tears has stopped “Why do you want to help me? I have done horrible things to everypony I knew.”
Cloud Kicker smiled “You feel bad about it, that’s first step to forgiveness.”
Sunset smiled weakly “Thanks, but I better head back to Canterlot before they get upset with me.”
Cloud Kicker frowned “No, come with me to my place I’ll go with you tomorrow to Canterlot but for now swing by my place.”
As the pair moved through the town Lyra smiled next to Bon-Bon “I haven’t seen her around before, are you taking her to your bed?”
Cloud Kicker glared at them “No, yes I may like sex a lot but that doesn't mean I sleep with everypony I see. She is having a tough time and I will not take advantage of that!”
Sunset frowned “I have never actually had sex before, read about it but never had it.”
Cloud Kicker shook her head “Don’t worry about it, you’re staying at my place for the night.” The two were unaware of the joined the future they would share based off this meeting.
