A couple of hours later Sunset and Cloud Kicker returned to Ponyville by chariot, as soon as they got off a pink Earth Pony gasped jetting off into the distance. Sunset raised an eyebrow “What the fuck was that?!”

Cloud shrugged “That was Pinkie Pie, expect a party soon enough” she then saw the confused expression on Sunset’s face “Don’t think about it too much, Pinkie does this all the time and no amount of science can explain it. Many have tried three ended up in hospital, another five went insane.”

Sunset groaned “Anything else I need to…” She turned around to see a blue blur rushing towards them only to leap into the air catching the rainbow maned blur before slamming them into the ground a knife to their throat. The rainbow maned mare was sweating bullets.

Cloud frowned “That is my boss, Captain of the Ponyville Weather Team and aspiring Wonderbolt. Her name is Rainbow Dash.”

Sunset frowned as she got off the pegasus “Be more careful where you’re flying, you may actually hurt someone.”

Rainbow trying to regain her composure growled “Why did you put a knife to my throat?! Were you trying to kill me?!”

Sunset shook her head “As you are an aspiring Wonderbolt, you should know that I am a Special Operative and my training dictates any potential threat is to be subdued and if they an actual threat taken down with no mercy! The Wonderbolts while not as strict still will still do what I did in that situation, if you can’t handle that then you aren’t cut out for the Wonderbolts.”

Rainbow grinned “I’ll show you how cut I am for the Wonderbolts, I’ll buck these clouds in ten seconds flat!” Sunset grimaced as the mare cleared the clouds in as she said ten seconds flat, Rainbow grinned widened “Told you I’m Wonderbolt material!”

Sunset turned to Cloud “Is she usually like this?”

Cloud sighed “Yes, I mean she has the skills to back up but yes.”

Rainbow growled “Stop ignoring me!”

Sunset turned to her with a frosty glare as she walked forward “Can you tell me that without hesitation you could kill if the need arose, the Wonderbolts are military mares. Could you look a pony in the eyes as you put a bullet in their eyes because if you can’t you’ll never be a Wonderbolt.”

Rainbow landed on the ground and stayed there silent, she had never consider that aspect. Sunset walked past her with Cloud following behind, Cloud glared at her “That was unduly harsh!”

Sunset took a deep breath “Maybe it was but I have heard what the Wonderbolts in action, they are a Special Operations Force to deal with large threats. As much as they would love to send out somepony like me everywhere it takes more time to send one of us out then an Elite Squadron of trained Pegasi. They are second only to my type of Special Operatives, they are a one squad army while I am a one pony army. Rainbow Dash has a lot to learn before she is ready for that.”

Cloud poked her in the chest “You still better apologise to her when you see her again.”

Sunset sighed “You’re right, I’m not used to dealing with Civilians. I need to work on that, for the most of my life I have seen friends as a distraction and for the rest of it, I have been a military mare. I don’t understand how ponies behave in their daily lives.”

Cloud nodded “I can understand that but you can’t just treat everyone like dirt when they do something stupid. I learned that lesson the hard way. ”

Sunset sighed “Anypony else I should meet?”

Cloud shook her head “You’ll meet everypony soon enough.”

Sunset raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment, as soon as she entered Cloud’s home she noticed it was dark. She jumped at the sound of the cannon and drew her knife as well as conjure ten balls of fire readying herself for a fight, Rainbow Dash frowned at Pinkie “I told you this was a bad idea.”

Pinkie shook her head “Everypony loves surprises, it’s what makes my surprise parties so great!”

Sunset grimaced as she dispelled her fireballs and sheathed her knife “Well you’re wrong, I hate surprises with a passion.”

Pinkie eyes widened in horror “How can you hate surprises, surprises are really fun.”

Sunset frowned at the party pony “It’s no fun when the surprises is something, large undead and is out for blood. To put it simply when the surprise wants you dead it isn’t any fun anymore.”

The crowd had gasped, Pinkie eyes widened before slumping “I’m sorry.”

Cloud frowned as she turned to “I’ll speak to Pinkie, Sunset you go and enjoy the party” she sighed at Sunset who looked uncomfortable “Look, it will help if you get to know some of the ponies in Ponyville.”

Sunset sighed as she walked over to the punch bowl, Cloud approached Pinkie “We need to talk, Pinkamena.”

Pinkie gulped as she followed Cloud outside, Cloud grimaced “Do you ever wonder why after we first met I tried to avoid you?”

Pinkie shook her head “No, why?”

Cloud took a deep breath “You didn’t understand how I worked, and you didn’t learn anything from the fact that for three years I wanted nothing to do with you. Now I am retired from police work so I got over it but Sunset is still active as a special operative. She will continue to see horrors that neither you nor I could imagine. So next time you plan a party for her give her fair warning for her sake, learn from this and maybe she will be happy the next time you throw her a party.”

Pinkie’s mane deflated “I’m sorry, I just wanted to welcome her to Ponyville.”

Cloud shook her head “I just wish for you to be a little more aware, ponies who deal with combat may suffer from memories of their past so you have to be very careful.” The two returned to the party

Meanwhile as that was happening Sunset approached the punch, a white unicorn with a prudential mane approached her. “My name is Rarity, if you don’t mind me asking who am I speaking to?”

Sunset frowned “My name is Sunset Shimmer, Personal student to Princess Celestia and…”

Rarity smiled excitedly “You live Canterlot what is it like there the fame and glamour…”

Sunset shook her head “Listen to me Rarity, Canterlot is not like that. I have lived there all of my life, I don’t know how many times a noble tried to snub me, and I usually responded by setting them on fire or turning them into a mouse for a day.”

Rarity’s eyes widened “How could you do that, they are some of the most respected ponies in Equestria.”

Sunset snorted “That is a very unicorn perspective isn’t it, most Earth Ponies think they are all hot air and Pegasi are even stronger in that belief. I’ve been with Princess Celestia in a meeting as they constantly prattle on about nonsense achieving nothing.”

An orange Earth Pony mare wearing a stetson approached “Ah think ya broke her.”

Sunset shrugged “I gave her my honest opinion about Canterlot as a pony whose lived there all my life, the idyllic dream that Rarity has is nothing but lie fed to the masses.”

The orange mare smiled holding out her hoof “Ah’m Applejack, what’s ya name?”

Sunset smiled as shook the Applejack’s hoof “Sunset Shimmer, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I must say you have a firm hoof, I’ve always admired Earth Ponies for being hard workers in whatever career they pursue.”

Applejack smiled “Ah could always some help on farm if ya up for it.”

Sunset smiled “I’m game, I need to do something to keep fit.” Sunset and Applejack continued chatting as the party continued on.
