Chapter 34: Rainbow and Gilda
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRainbow and Gilda were heading out to a local restaurant, Rainbow frowned “Where are we going, Gilda?”
Gilda smiled “There is a nice omnivorous restaurant called the Salty Stallion in town, I could use some meat tonight.”
Rainbow smiled “Well I could use some fish, it’s very hard to acquire fish outside of Cloudsdale. I hoping they have some good fish dishes.” The two approached the building, it was exposed to the open air and most of the guest were not ponies and the few ponies there were Pegasi.
Gilda grinned as they took a seat, she looked at the menu “A manticore steak looks nice.”
Rainbow smiled “Well I’ll think I’ll have a fish curry with golden sauce.”
After they gave their orders to a waiter, Gilda smiled “So Dash what have you been up to? I don’t much about your life after I returned to Griffonstone.”
Rainbow frowned “Well the bullying Fluttershy and I suffered got worse, it got to the point that Fluttershy and I refused to return to Flight School. We moved to Ponyville as soon as we could, sick of being surrounded by bullies.”
Gilda grimaced “I should have stayed to help you two. They kept away from my reputation as the big bad Griffon that would gobble them up.”
Rainbow shook her head “It’s not your fault, you family needed you back then. Your grandfather couldn’t take of himself anymore, you were the only one he had left.”
Gilda grimaced “He showed me no respect despite the fact I was caring for him, he treated me like dirt for years. It was worse for Gabby , she was only a two when he started with her. It’s a miracle how much life she has considering how grandfather acted.”
Rainbow sighed “Sorry about dredging up bad memories, this is supposed to be a happy time.”
Gilda smiled “Rainbow, I’m glad that you listened to me and that’s more than enough. In truth the biggest issue I had in Griffonstone was that I had to keep how I felt hidden about everything. I had to listen to the other griffons and if I spoke they beat me black and blue.”
Rainbow grimaced “That really stinks, it’s why I never really was interested in visiting Griffonstone.”
Gilda nodded “I’m willing to leave that part of my life behind” she gave Rainbow a kiss “My new life starts here with you.”
Rainbow smiled “I’m glad you are enjoying life in Ponyville.”
Gilda smiled “Pinkie’s fun, Sunset and you are really tough. Fluttershy has grown a lot since we last met, she faced off against a dragon and that Twilight is quite interesting. She has a huge ego but a lot of talent, I do not know as much about your other friends though.”
Rainbow laughed “There is plenty of time for that, Applejack is a harder worker than anyone else that you’d ever see. She is tougher and stronger than most ponies in Ponyville except Sunset and maybe Pinkie, she can pull off some remarkable feats of strength when she wants too. I’m still confident she is tougher than me. As for Rarity, well she isn’t exactly tough but has a way with words, she is a dressmaker and had made quite a few clothes for us.”
Gilda frowned “I am not one for dressing up in clothes.”
Rainbow shrugged “I am not either but she did make me a cool training outfit that was very streamlined allowing to fly well while wearing it. It is no Wonderbolts uniform but it is still very effective.”
Gilda blinked “Really, I thought you said she was a dressmaker.”
Rainbow rolled her eyes “Yes but that is more of a general term. She even made Sunset two leather jackets, she is quite a genius at the craft.”
Gilda nodded “That is quite impressive, she must be very talented to do this by herself.”
Rainbow nodded “She is. I’m glad you willing to meet her.” They smiled as their food was placed on their table, they silently enjoyed their meal before the flew up to Rainbow’s cloud home. The two looked up at the star from the front porch, Rainbow smiled “Remember when we snuck at to look at the stars at night, they are quite beautiful.’
Gilda nodded “They are but not quite a beautiful as the mare next to me.”
Rainbow blushed “No-one has ever called me beautiful before, many ponies think I am very tomcoltish and not pretty.”
Gilda frowned “They have no idea what they’re talking about, you are the prettiest pony I have ever met. No-one can tell me otherwise.” Rainbow smiled widened as she snuggled up to her friend and they feel asleep as the moon’s glowing light shone upon them.
