Author's Note

Hi everyone!
So this is the first chapter of my first story. Hope you'll like it. If you find any spelling or grammatical errors please point it out for me. I'll try to correct all of them, but english is only my second language. I hope my writing will improve with time.
So, again have fun reading the first chapter. The next will be up un the next weekend.

An unexpected encounter

It was just an ordinary day. I went down to the market to buy some apples for tonight.

"Hey, Heartbeat!"

"Oh hey Lyra, I didn't see you there," I said as I walked over to her.

"How are you doing?" she asked.

"Everything's fine" - I said as I was looking at some apples - "I just came to buy some fresh apples."

"Yeah, me too," Lyra sighed, and her face fell.

"What's the problem then?"

"Bon-bon's sick," she explained - "she caught a bad flu."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, I hope she gets well soon!" I said.

"Thanks, Heartbeat!" She said, cheering up a bit. "I'd love to stay and chat a bit, but I should get going! It was nice seeing you!" She said as she began to walk down the road.

"Bye Lyra, tell Bon-bon I said hi!" I said.

"Will do!" She said as she started to trot.

I really like Lyra, She was the very first friend I had here in Ponyville. Before I moved here, I lived in Baltimare, but I needed a change of pace. It was a too noisy and fast lifestyle for me. So I thought it would be a good idea to move to Ponyville.

Before I could have ended that train of thought, I heard somepony shout something and then I felt myself tripping on something and fell to the ground.

"Well, that just happened. And here I thought that my first day in Ponyville would be danger-free!" Said somepony from behind me.

More like said from on top of me, if you ask.

"What's just happened?" I blurted out. "And could you please get off me? You begin to feel heavy a bit..."

"Oh wow. Woke up with the rude leg today, or what?" The mare sounded a bit hurt. Or maybe just annoyed. But at least she got off of me.

Good move, smartass. Let's try again. I thought to myself.

I sat up and started to dust down myself. Suddenly I saw a hoof. I accepted it and the mysterious mare helped me up.

"Hey, err, sorry for knocking you over," I started as I continued to clean the dirt from my fur. Stupid grey fur. I hate that you can see the tiniest piece of anything is visible in it...

"It's nothing, I just hope that you wouldn't have been so rude after it." She sounded hurt.

Come on, you dummy, say something, I thought, as I realized that I started to like her voice a lot.

"Err sorry for that too," I began as I finished with my fur, and finally looked up at her "I'm usually not that gorgeous! Um, I mean rude." That went well.

You can't blame me though. She was stunning. She had warm, brownish yellow fur. Funny because normally I hate this color, but it suited her perfectly. Her mane and tail were long and curly. They were light brown with a streak in both of them, that matched her fur. And her eyes... Sweet Celestia, her eyes. She had hazel eyes. My favorite eye color. Thanks to this color her eyes looked so warm and comforting.

"Ookay, I guess. Are you sure you didn't hurt your head?" She asked me worryingly.

Whoops I think I zoned out for a bit too long. But she looks so nice!

"Yup. Sorry for the rough meeting. Would you let me try it once more?" Please say yes, please say yes...

"For sure." She said, smiling.

YES!

"You have a beautiful smile. My name is Heartbeat. What's yours?" So far so good... I thought.

"Well thank you." She blushed a bit "It was nice running into you Heartbeat. I'm Golden Heart." She said as she shook my hoof.

Nice looks? Check. Cute name? Check. Beautiful voice? Check. Oh, Luna help me! "So you said that this is your first day here?" I asked curiously.

"Yes. I'm walking through the town, to get to know it." Golden Heart said cheerily.

"Would you mind, if I joined you? I know this town like the back of my hoof. I can show you around if you want me to." I offered. I want to get to know this mare more.

"That would be lovely! Thanks a bunch!" She blurted out.

At that point I've totally forgotten what I wanted to do in the market...

When I was on my way home, I met Pinkie. She noticed that I had a dreamy smile on my face. When she asked why I was so happy, I just said that I've finally met somepony special.

Later that day when I got home I could only think about Golden Heart. She was perfect. She was absolutely stunning and intelligent too. Her sense of humor was nice too. It kinda matched mine. And her voice made me smile all the time. It was so rhythmic. The other thing that I liked about her voice is that it wasn't high-pitched. It was a bit deep but melodic at the same time.

Golden Heart. What a cute name. It matched her. She was just as kind as Fluttershy. Yes, Fluttershy. The element of Kindness.

At this point, I didn't realised that I was madly in love. Not yet. I needed more time to realise that, she is the mare I was looking for, through all these years. I was just so glad that I moved to Ponyville.

I was looking forward to seeing her again. To talk with her again. Golden Heart was like a magnet. When she was around I felt a pulling in her direction. Even when I didn't know that she was around.

That night, I decided that, on the next day, I'll go down to the market again. It would be just great to see her again. Then maybe I could get her to have a coffee with me or something. I want to befriend her. I want to get to know her.

I want her to be by my side!
