Vinyl Scratch rolled over in bed, the mattress creaking beneath her immense weight. She'd shifted around during sleep, probably the result of her recurring buffet dream, and now her belly blocked her view of the alarm clock. It didn't really matter, since it wasn't like she had anywhere to go; It'd been a good two months since she last set hoof outside of the apartment she shared with Octavia, and six or more since she bothered to set an alarm.
She barely registered the sound of music coming from the living room. Her entire body ached as she crawled out of bed, but that was normal these days. She looked like a collection of oversized balloons, her belly rubbing against the floor with every step, nearly worn barren of fur from the friction, while the twin domes of her ass wobbled like marshmallows, a pale parody of her once-perky buttocks. The equine body was never made to support so much weight, yet somehow, she managed to haul her half-ton body out of bed and into the bathroom, where her bulk naturally complicated her morning business.
As she waddled into the main living space, the music seemed to come to life, bursting out in electronic glory. Bass drops, hooks and counterhooks, a meaty drum riff backing it up, this was by and large Vinyl's favorite record. It was the only one she'd listened to in a very long time, leaving the rest of her extensive collection to gather dust in boxes.
Even Octavia didn't seem to mind it, though the gray mare had some strange opinions about it. She was always going on about the violins, how the string and wind sections came together so sublimely... And not a single word about the spot-on sampling! It was as if they were listening to two different records! It didn't really matter, so long as both of them were enjoying it.
Octavia was already in the kitchen, her massive body wedged in the tiny space between the counter and the island. She was just as big as Vinyl, with a belly so large that her plump legs were forced to stretch out around it, giving her a comical, penguin-like gait whenever she was forced to rise from the sofa where she spent most of her time.
Old fast food and delivery packages lay strewn around, some older than others. Vinyl chuckled as she noticed an old burger wrapper stuck in between the earth pony's ass cheeks; Octavia didn't seem to notice, straining to push her flab out of the way to move. It was a losing fight; The poor mare just wasn't built for such tight spaces, or was it that those tight spaces weren't built for her? Whoever constructed their apartment should've felt ashamed for themselves! The doorways were so shoddily constructed that just a simple bump from Vinyl's hip was enough to knock the bedroom door off its hinges, while the bathtub could barely contain enough water to fit half of Octavia's belly!
The microwave hummed, and saliva burst into Vinyl's mouth as the most exquisite smell graced her nostrils. Inhaling deeply, she waddled over to the kitchen area and leaned against the counter, ignoring the ominous cracks which emanated from the marble countertop. She barely heard them over the sound of the music, and indeed, she had to raise her voice in order to be heard.
“Whatchu makin', Tavi?” She asked, bobbing her head with the beat. The music was loud, but not quite loud enough, and she took the opportunity to crank up the volume as she waddled past.
“What do you think of Prench cuisine?” Octavia smiled, the corners of her lips sinking into her baseball-sized cheeks, “I'm making us foie gras, with caviar on the side and a pairing of Chateau Cheval Blanc.”
“I don't know what half those things are, but it sounds delicious!”
“I'm glad you agree, darling!” The microwave beeped, and Octavia pulled out last night's leftover pizza and setting it on the kitchen island. The rich smell of roasted duck liver filled the air, and Vinyl inhaled deeply, savoring the aroma.
Squirming a bit, Octavia managed to squeeze herself into a spot to open the fridge, from which she pulled a two liter bottle of cola and a fat bucket of ranch dip, and from the cupboard, a family-sized bag of chips. The earth pony's stomach growled audibly, matched by one from the unicorn, and both giggled, bringing their simple meal over to the dining room table. There were two chairs on either side, each sitting next to one another; All four were broken, as if some immense weight had once tried to rest upon them. Vinyl and Octavia plopped their asses atop these wrecks, shifting their buttocks as if the chairs were still in any way intact.
First, came the drinks – Octavia produced a pair of wine glasses, still clearly dirty from previous uses, and filled each of them to the rim with black, fizzling pop. Taking a sip, she sighed, sinking back against the half-broken backs of her chairs, which creaked ominously from the additional weight.
Vinyl finished half of her glass in a single gulp, then let out a deep, unladylike belch, and wiped her mouth with the back of a hoof.
“Man, this is good wine,” Vinyl chuckled, finishing her glass in another gulp, “If I didn't know better, I'd think you were trying to get me drunk!”
“Dear, please,” Octavia chuckled, “If I wanted you drunk, I'd have bought a keg.”
Vinyl chuckled, then dug into the pizza with gusto, barely pausing to swallow between bites. Octavia took it a bit slower, alternating between bites of foie gras and chips, taking care to dip everything in the dip before allowing it anywhere near her mouth. Their faces grew sloppy with sauce as their massive guts slowly filled, and before long, all that was left on the table were a couple of empty boxes, and a half-full chip bag. Vinyl grabbed the bag, pinching the bottom and upturning it, pouring chips into her mouth and crunching them, sending a spray of crumbs across the floor.
The dip container was still mostly full, and so Octavia brought it to her mouth and chugged it like soda, off-white ranch pouring in gloopy streams down her face and stomach. Occasionally, she'd lower the bucket and let out a burp or fart, adding to the strange miasma of the room. The movement of the woodwind section always made her feel hungry, and by the time the flutes died down, the container was empty, and she tossed it aside, bouncing off of her discarded cello case.
The fat mares leaned back, patting their monstrous bellies, letting out occasional moans and expulsions. There was probably the same amount of food on them as inside of them, the stretch marks of their bellies hidden beneath a new layer of sauce stains. Octavia, the more cultured one, scratched her belly and muttered something about a gala, while Vinyl, ever the slovenly pig, daydreamed about remixing belches into songs.
Their relaxation was interrupted by the ringing of the doorbell, bringing them both suddenly to reality.
“Oh, that'd be the delivery! I ordered a hundred kilograms of Kobe beef.”
“Jeez, that must've cost a bit and a half!”
“Please, Vinyl, between your latest release and my concert tour, we've got money to burn!”
Vinyl rose from her seat, nearly slipping on an unopened letter – A filthy envelope she had previously used as a napkin after a sloppy joe binge, which just happened to contain a letter of termination from her recording contract, pursuant to a complete lack of communication. A broken bowstring crunched under Octavia's hoof, but she didn't seem to notice as he waddled to the door, her marefriend in tow.
The delivery stallion's eyes went wide as he caught sight of the two blimps, grimacing as their sweaty, pizza-and-pop aroma wafted out. Still, he had a job to do, and covering his nose, he took a step forward, holding out a stack of half a dozen pizzas.
“T-that'll be fifty b-bits,” He said, his voice cracking slightly at the end, “W-what's that music?”
The music shifted, violins and electronica giving way to a roaring guitar solo, but neither of the mares seemed to notice. Vinyl grabbed the pizza from his limp hooves and carried it back to the table, but before she got there, she flipped the lid on one of the boxes and started munching on a slice.
“Darling, please! At least wait for me,” Octavia whined. She tried to hand her wallet to the stallion, but the bag slipped from his hoof as if he didn't notice.The stallion groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. His body trembled for a moment, and a few strange, inarticulate sounds slipped from his mouth. After a moment, he looked back up, drool oozing down his chin and a vacant expression on his face.
“I'm hungry,” He muttered in a dull monotone, “I should eat.”
“You too, darling! Have a wonderful day!” Octavia swung the door shut in the stallion's face; He didn't even flinch.
“I should eat until I explode,” The stallion's voice was muffled by the door, and if he said anything else, neither of the mares noticed as they returned to their feast.
This feast wasn't quite as formal as the earlier one; Rather than sitting at the table, Vinyl simply dropped the pile on the floor. She didn't even grab individual slices, shoving her snout into the pizza and eating it in chunks like a wild animal, and letting out similar noises. They acted more like pigs than ponies, staining their muzzles red as if they'd been digging into raw meat. Vinyl's face and chins were coated in tomato sauce, while Octavia, with her darker coat, looked more like she'd dunked her front in a bucket of grease.
By the time they managed to tear through the feast, both Vinyl and Octavia's guts were noticeably rounder, packed full of so much food that their stomachs couldn't quite contain it all. Octavia leaned back, patting her stomach and letting out a crass belch, which Vinyl matched with one of her own. The two broke into snorting laughter interspersed with burps and the occasional fart.
“I really want to fuck your belly button right now,” Vinyl said, sending her marefriend's belly jiggling with a slap, “Where'd we leave the strap-on?”
“Vinyl, I...”
Suddenly, the music stopped as the needle reached the end of the record. Vinyl paused mid-sentence, her jaw hanging slack. Octavia's eyes lost focus, rolling back in her head for just a moment, and then...
“T-Tavi?” Vinyl sputtered, shock and horror evident on her face, “W-what in Celestia's mane HAPPENED to you?!”
“T-to me-!” Octavia started to interject, only to glance down at herself and scream at the sight of her near-spherical belly. Her hoof slammed into it, not a playful slap, but a hard punch, as if she simply couldn't believe such a huge, flabby thing was attached to her body; She tried to turn her head, but found that her multitude of chins anchored her neck to a limited range of motion, forcing her to look straight ahead as Vinyl thrashed against her own obesity.
“H-help!” The unicorn shrieked, and fell over, causing the entire room to shake. Octavia scrambled over awkwardly, struggling to move with her thick legs, and helped her lover up to a sitting position, wheezing and groaning against her sheer weight.
“We-we're fat! How – How in Celestia's name did this happen?!”
“Vinyl, look at the calendar!”
“What the – But that's years from now!”
The two mares stared at the calendar, and at each other, as the pieces slowly fell into place. Their bodies were the result of years of unfettered gluttony, the apartment clearly hadn't been cleaned out in ages – Octavia's neat freak senses burned with rage as she gazed upon the stacks of old fast food wrappers, soda bottles and pizza boxes piled up in every unused space. Vinyl, meanwhile, glanced up at her golden record – DJPON3's Hoof It Harder, her prized possession, her first #1 single, hanging in a place of honor above the record player. Nopony had dusted it in who knows how long, while thick streaks of grease marred the glass.
Tears streamed down their faces as the terrified mares embraced, trying to hide from the bizarre revelations, but the feeling of their immense, flabby bodies squishing together was enough to negate any comfort they may have gained.
“T-Tavi, I think-” Vinyl choked up as she heard a clicking noise, and looked up to see the record player's arm extended, turning the record over.
“Tavi, it's the record-!”
The record flipped, the needle settled into the groove, and the sound of music once again filled the room. Octavia's ears started to ring, and the earth pony groaned, clutching the sides of her head as a strange sensation washed over her. Numbness crept into the corners of her mind, and all the fear and panic she was feeling was suddenly washed away in a wave of simple, bovine complacency. She blinked, glancing up at Vinyl, and felt a vague sense of discomfort at the sight of her lover's horrified expression.
“Vinyl, darling,” Octavia smiled gently, running a hoof along the unicorn's tear-streaked cheek, “What's wrong?”
“I just love your fat ass so much,” Vinyl said breathlessly, and planted a kiss on Octavia's lips. The two closed their eyes, savoring the moment, as the record continued to spin.
