Spike's Diary

Dear Diary,

Today, Tank the tortoise had to go into hibernation. All of us gave him a farewell before he carefully buried himself under. It'll probably be a few months before we see him again, but I hope he has a nice long nap down there. Gotta say though, Rainbow didn't take it that well, at least not at first. She did everything in the book, even bringing winter to Ponyville early by accident, just to avoid parting with him during his hibernation. Still, i can't really blame her for it. Being separated from the pet she loves so much? I can understand that kind of thing. I remember when I had to let Peewee go back to his parents. I was sad that I wasn't going to be able to see him as often, but I knew it was the right thing to do.

Rainbow seems to have learned the same thing, as she eventually learned that this was what Tank needed. I know she'll miss him, and I know we will too, but we all care about him, and when you care for someone you have to do things that sometimes make you sad. This was one of those times.

We'll see him again, and when we do, I wouldn't be surprised if Rainbow asked Pinkie to throw him the Mother of all "welcome home" parties.
