Author's Note

Yeah, um, I'm sorry if this sucks. Again, first fic, so, just sorta doing whatever the fuck I want here. I know that's not how they were related in the show, these characters, but then again, I'm mixing this shit with Diablo. Crazy stuff is gonna happen. I'm trying to avoid just doing a name-swapped version of the plot of Diablo, but no promises.

Prologue

Equestria - Canterlot - 247 A.B. (After Binding)

Things were all right in Equestria. I mean, there was a social depression, some northern king was going absolutely batshit crazy, and there's evidence of some ancient demon hidden under the Temple of the Sun Goddess breaking loose. But, you know, it could be worse. I could be writing this story. Wait, I am. Guess things can't get worse.

Around this time, a group of three "Children of Destiny" or something were born. They were Celestia, Luna, and Cadence. Princess Celestia, the child of that one northern king, eventually grew up to be a deeply troubled warrior, who's got a very dysfunctional family. Luna was raised among the eastern mage group known as the Vizjerei, and became quite the powerful sorceress, but a bit foolhardy. Meanwhile, Cadence was born into the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye, a group of rogues who live in the west, and became a very boring person.

Right now, King Sombra of the Crystal Empire was seemingly going insane. He had once been a kind, fair king, much loved by his subjects, but recently, he has been trapped in the grips of some illness that none could identify. His health deteriorating, the man became a tyrant, petty executions and meaningless wars left and right. The citizens of the Crystal Empire grew worried for their king, but scared into submission, none dared to investigate.

Yeah, same crazy king, get over it. Anyhow, there were also some rumors going 'round town in Canterlot that this ancient demon known as Diablo was somehow influencing the king. Abductions have been going down too, along with the occasional dead guardspony/peon being found on the edge of town, with numerous "Diablesque" symbols carved into their flesh, and their innards already devoured by small, sharp fangs. Not pony teeth, although that too would be disturbing, but fangs.

Time passed by, things got worse, more dead ponies found around, and the story truly begins, with the disappearance of Prince Blueblood...
