Chapters Twilight’s eyes opened up, but they saw nothing but darkness. Se could feel some sort of cloth covering her eyes. “Ugh…” she groaned. She looked around and saw nothing, she could feel her hands above her head and something very cold at her feet. ‘A block of ice maybe?’ She shook her head to get the wariness out. Twilight then attempted to move her hands but found them bound together by a very tight rope. She twisted it a few times to see if it would budge. She sighed, ‘It’s no good.’ She tried to stretch her wings only to find them bound together.
She whipped her head around, trying, in vain, to throw the blindfold off. She sighed again, ‘It’s a longshot, but maybe…’ She attempted to light her horn. A sharp pain immediately hit her head; giving her a headache. After a minute of thrashing and cursing herself, the pain went away. A thought suddenly came to her. ‘How did I get here?’ she asked herself. She closed her eyes despite them already being in complete darkness to think. ‘Let’s see, I was at the Crystal Empire with my friends and Princesses… my friends left… then... ‘ The hopelessness of the situation dawned on her. ‘S-Sombra… attacked.’
She found new courage to break free. Twilight struggled at the rope binding her wrists together. ‘I can’t just give up yet. Equestria needs me.’ She told herself. ‘I can still…’ her thoughts died. What could she do? Her brother, Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, and Cadance were all gone, and they were never coming back. She lowered her head as she remembered what had happened mere hours before.
She could still hear Luna’s voice yelling in her head “You need to run! , just as she was cut down. 'I should've run. I should've escaped.' She could still see her corpse cradled against her. Twilight could suddenly feel the stiffness of her clothes; the blood that had stained it so much that it went stiff. She remembered Celestia, and how she had fought King Sombra as he stormed the city. She remembered Shining Armor holding off three of Sombra's officers while he protected his wife only to get stabbed in the back. She remembered Cadance, lost in madness, tearing through Sombra’s troops.
Twilight tried not to think about it, ‘No time for mourning now, I need to find Luna and get out, we’re the last ones.’ Her thoughts paused, she looked over to see Cadance on the ground. She had her mouth open in a silent scream, a giant slash across her chest. Next to her was Celestia’s body, bloodied from fighting with Sombra. Luna was looking over them. She was shaking her head and there were tears in her eyes. Several of the night guards were surrounding her, looking to the princess for guidance.
“PRINCESS LUNA!” a strong voice bellowed, “Face me, one pony to another!” Twilight immediately knew who the voice belonged to. She turned to see where Sombra was, however, Luna looked to see Twilight, she barked orders that Twilight couldn’t hear. Several of her guards ran over and practically shoved Twilight to Luna. She saw in the corner in her eye Sombra taking on the Guards with his own. Luna was yelling at Twilight, but she could only hear muffled cries as if somepony had strapped pillows to her ears. While Luna and the guards were distracted, they all failed to notice how they were being surrounded by Sombra’s minions.
Finally, the muffles went away, she could finally hear Luna’s speech, “-light, the city is surrounded, get out of here!” Twilight blinked, “Luna?” Luna seemed to get annoyed at this. “There is no time for argument, I will cover your escape.” She turned to see the defenses failing; readying her sword at the encroaching horde, she turned back. Twilight hadn’t moved.
Luna rand to her, “Twilight, you must run, the city is lo-ahh hhhhhhh hhhhhh. ” Luna flopped forward into Twilight’s body, nearly crushing her. She felt the spear poking through Luna’s chest. Twilight felt her warm blood spilled onto Twilight’s clothes, staining them “Twilight.” She heard Luna say, “You need to get o-out o-of h-h-hear.” Twilight looked up to see all the night guards fallen, and one of Sombra’s men slowly recovering from throwing a javelin.
But Twilight didn’t run, instead, she held Luna in her arms as she died. Tears were in Twilight’s eyes, She was barely able to choke out, “I-I’m so s-s-sorry Luna.” Twilight embraced Luna, she could hear her breathing begin to fade; and then, fade out entirely. She was crying beyond whatever she thought possible. ‘We failed.’ She laid Luna down next to her sister. she was already dead, Twilight kept saying “I’m sorry.” Repeatedly. She fell to her knees, tears in her eyes. She covered her eyes with her hands.
She looked at the sight, ‘I can’t believe this.’ Twilight thought, All her peers. Her brother, Cadance, Luna, and Celestia were all dead. ‘I’m a failure.’ was the only thought that she could think, Twilight barely registered the fact that she was surrounded by Sombra’s soldiers; ready to cut her down as they had done to her peers.
Twilight looked up and around the circle around her. The tears in her eyes were blurring her vision. She could only see a sea of dark knights around her with her breathing going faster with each one she saw. Sombra finally came into view in front of her. “I assume you aren’t going to fight?” He said. She couldn’t find words to reply, so she just shook her head. “Good, there has already been too much death today.” He looked up and behind her.
The next moment she was on the ground, her vision fading to black, she could feel her senses slowly going away. “Take her to the dungeon, have Captain Andros….
The futility of her situation finally had its full effect on Twilight. ‘He captured me…’ She thought, If she could crawl up in the fetal position she would; she settled for clenching her eyes, ‘I’m going to die here… aren’t I?’ She began to sniffle. The images of her dead family and fellow princesses flooding her mind.
“Stop…” She croaked out, trying to make the images go away. They didn’t have any effect, they kept attacking her psyche. “I said stop.” She said slightly louder. ‘Please…’ She mentally added. She was now sobbing uncontrollably. “STOP! PLEASE!” her eyes opening up made the images go away. She was huffing laboriously. Whatever was holding her wings down made it hard to draw a full breath.
She timidly closed her eyes again, nothing. The rest of the day she spent crying herself in and out of consciousness. The coldness at her feet only now beginning to bother her, ‘just don’t think about it Twilight, think about nothing…’
Twilight awoke to the sound of the door opening. She could only assume that she was about to be interrogated. She tried to put on a brave face, though the tear streaks running down her face made it slightly hard. A gruff laugh was heard by Twilight, it was a fake one, obviously.
“Princess Twilight Sparkle…” The voice bellowed in a mocking tone, “I have been put in charge of interrogating you for his highness, King Sombra of the Crystal Empire.” The sound of clanking armor sounded as he moved toward her. “Let me make your position clear princess.” He said, practically spitting out the word Princess . “You are in one of the best prisons ever made, or worst depending on how you look at it.” Twilight felt his hands on her face, she attempted to throw them off by whipping her face back and forth, earning herself a hard slap across the cheek. He made a “Hmph” and began circling her. “There is no rescue, no bright light at the end of the journey, and no happy ending for you…” Her ears flopped back, but she still tried to keep up her brave persona. “...Unless… you and I… make progress.” He paused, finishing his circle around her.
He pulled something in front of her. ‘A chair maybe?’ She could feel his breath on her muzzle; it was hot and smelled terrible. He was no standing over her, she felt one of his hands rubbing her left shoulder, the other one was on her face; rubbing the bottom of her chin. She moved her face away from his hand. Both hands moved away. He slapped her again hard across her face.
“If you disobey me,” He jumped off the chair, “displease me, or if I am in a bad mood, I will punish you.” He circled around her again, this time, his hands began moving around her skirt and back. She immediately tensed up, her brain rushing on what he plans to do. Meanwhile, his hands began making their way around her waist.
He again finished circling her. “You must be thirsty.” He stated. Twilight realized her mouth was as dry as a desert. She nodded. “Well, I want to hear that nice angelic voice of yours…” Her head went up, ‘I’m too thirsty. I need water to live.’ She licked her lips and timidly spoke. “M-may I-i h-have some w-water?” It came out more like a croak than speech. He heard the guard make another “Hmph” And walked over to her, “On second thought,” He said. Twilight heard him get on the chair. “I don’t like it.” She felt her muzzle get clamped closed. The rope began going around it. All the while she was squirming, attempting to move her head, but his grip was too strong. She couldn’t kick him off, otherwise, she would fall down and her hands would be cut off.
He again jumped off the chair and walked over to another part of the cell. “Here is your water,” She felt a cold splash hit her. It was icy, wet, and smelly, and now all over her. “Princess .” He laughed. She shook off as much as she could but was freezing, tired, cold, and thirsty by the time he walked out a few seconds later.
A few days later…
Twilight heard the familiar sound of footsteps and clanking armor. Soon enough the door was opened, “‘ello princess…” He said, his speech was slightly slurred. Twilight raised an eyebrow “You ‘n I are gonna *hic* a really good time *hic*. ‘He’s drunk!’ Twilight thought, ‘maybe I can get him to let me down.’ She heard the familiar sound of a chair being dragged across the stone floor. ‘But what if I can’t. He might just try… to…’ He grabbed her right breast hard, prodding it and fondling it. In her thoughts, he had also taken off the rope on her muzzle.
Her natural fight or flight instincts kicked in and given that she couldn’t do the latter, she fought. Twilight headbutted the stallion. She instantly regretted it. “YOU BITCH!” He screamed. “I’ll take your tail off the next time you pull that kind of stunt!” He said. She would’ve talked back, but didn’t want him to realize that he took it off. “I lost my appetite.” He slurred and walked out.
She sighed and moved her head downward. ‘I hope they’re alright.’ She thought as she drifted into unconsciousness. Before she could fully accept the darkness, she heard something stir in her cell, ‘What… is… that…?’ Twilight thought, The sound of armor clanking could be heard walking in her cell. She pinpointed it to behind her and to the left. It was accompanied by heavy breathing. “Who’s there?” She said without thinking.
“...” The pony behind her didn’t talk instead they just stood there, breathing and sometimes walking. The gruff sound of the breathing made Twilight assume that the pony was a male. ‘ Another guard perhaps?’ She questioned herself. “Who are you?!” She half-yelled and half-asked.
After what felt like an hour of silence followed by moving and breathing, he was finally in front of her. He finally spoke, “Hello Princess. ” She could never forget that voice. “Sombra…” She growled. “What do you want?” Despite her supposed anger, she knew she was defenseless and at his complete mercy., but she attacked him verbally anyway. He replied, “I was going to ask you a question, but It seems you still need more… time to come around. I will be back in a month.” Twilight felt a wave of energy pass through her following the king’s talk.
After a few minutes of waiting she deemed him to be gone and moved to leave the waking world behind again. ‘I’ll be fine Twilight, I’ll… be… fine…’ She went limp in the rope and chains, passing out from the day’s pain and sorrow.
Behind her, the king observed the sleeping mare in his shadow form; feeding on her fear of him. He casually thought, ‘She would make a beautiful queen of mine...’ He turned and left.
1 - The Prisoner [Redone]
The weeks were not good on Twilight. Her punishments increased in scale; eventually, she was forced to stand on the tips of her toes to keep her standing. If she were to fall, she would be shocked for each moment until it was corrected. That meant she had not gotten any sleep, and the times she did manage to get rest was immediately ended by the electrical shocks.
She was only given water once every week, and if she were to talk at any time it was to be denied. She had not been given any food, her alicorn status had given her longevity and she could go without food for nearly five months
The guard, Andros, had assaulted her many times, groping her, fondling her rump and breasts, and rubbing her body in sensual ways. Sombra had not returned as he said he would, waiting until the end of the month Twilight reckoned. At this point, the beatings, torture, and assault had been too much for her, she was nearing her breaking point.
The cell door opened; causing Twilight to open her eyes. She mentally cursed herself as she was met with nothing but darkness. The unmistakable voice of Andros was heard, “Water time whore.” The name-calling was something she went numb to really quick, ‘At least he’s not beating me.’ Twilight thought. She felt something cool and metal reached her lips. She gingerly opened her mouth and gulped down as much waster as she could. Her feet unintentionally moving around.
Twilight said nothing as the bucket left her lips. “Heh, you’ve grown very malleable lately slut. I wonder…” Andros jumped off the chair. The sound of footsteps moving behind her form rung throughout the room. Twilight had tensed up, ‘He’d never try to…’ She felt his large rough hands move against her thigh, rubbing it very slowly and hard.
“Ple-please stop…” She stuttered out. He continued, not giving any concern to her pleading. “Please… stop. I-i can’t take it… anymore… I just want it to stop…” He continued, giving a small chuckle at her attempts.
“I SAID STOP!” Twilight said as she tried to kick him off. The guard instinctively took his hands off her to avoid the kick. Twilight smiled in her small victory. He gave an annoyed sigh and walked away.
“Well, it was bound to happen eventually.” The sound of his walking ended near the edge of the cell; she could hear the sound of something like a lever being pulled on. She already prepared herself
“What are you doOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIIIIINNNNGGG?!” She ended up screaming. He was raising her up off the small block of neverending ice. Gravity immediately took hold of her, the enchanted rope went taut; latching onto her hands like a python. Then the electrocution began.
She began flailing back and forth, trying to shake the electricity out of her to no avail. “AHHHH!” she screamed, it was a very high pitch scream. One that her captor seemed to take delight in. “Not so brave now, are you Princess ?” She managed to stutter out. “S-S-STOP IT!” She heard the sound of the lever being pulled and she was lowered back down.
“I’m sorry what did you say?” The guard asked in the most nonchalant way possible. He then began laughing maniacally. “I ASKED YOU, hehe, what did you say? HAHAHA, go on tell me.” He pulled down on the lever again and it raised her higher than before, along with the pitch of her screams. He asked her over and over again. He kept raising it higher and higher. Twilight felt like she was being ripped apart and then put back together only to be ripped apart again.
“MAKE IT STOP!” She eventually said. “PLEASE!” She was crying from the pain. She could smell burned fur and skin mixing together. Its smell filled the room, it reeked making Twilight gag.
The laughter died down and he finally let her down. “I expect you to be more cooperative next time.” He paused, “Or we could do that again, your choice.” He moved to her again. His hand made contact with her again. His fingers were cold and stiff on her fur and skin.
She tensed up at his touch but tried not to resist. Even though it was her body’s natural response to the situation. His hand itself traveled everywhere throughout her body and the tattered remains of her clothes. She was too weak emotionally and physically to fight back. ‘I haven’t slept in what felt like a month.’ She said to herself. ‘It’ll be okay, I just need to get out of this with my conscience intact. Then maybe I can fix this.’
The guard began to make lewd remarks about her. He said many things, but his most favorite was saying, “I can’t wait till I break you, your highness .” He would always say the “Your Highness” In the most mocking tone imaginable, trying to get some reaction out of her. She hadn’t done a thing.
Now he was quiet while he touched her today. When he finally reached the bottom of her skirt she flinched. ‘He’s never gone this far before.’ He pushed it upward, so now the only thing between him and her was her tail and underwear.
“If you even think about hitting me with our tail, I’ll cut it off.” He turned her head toward her, not that she could see him, he said, “Understand?” She nodded. This wasn’t the first time she was felt all over, but something about this was different.
Despite not resisting she was having a mental breakdown. Her mind began praying to every god she knew of and anypony she knew of, clinging to any hope of this stopping. ‘Please… help… anypony!’ He began to take the rest of her tattered and blood red clothes off her; not that they were covering her much anymore. They had many holes in them and were falling apart at the seams. She kept praying for help of any kind as he peeled the clothes off of her.. ‘HELP. PLEASE!’ She begged.
She had just about given up when the door slowly opened. The stallion behind her stopped taking the clothes off of her. In fact, he stopped breathing too. Another voice began talking. “Well now, captain, I believe you and I… need... to.... talk...” She immediately recognized the voice. ‘Sombra.’ He continued. “Fix her up and meet me outside, NOW!” His voice held authority.
“Yes, your majesty!” He said. She felt her clothes return to their proper place and instantly felt happier and scared at the same time. ‘It’s Sombra, he’ll just be worse, he killed the other Alicorns, he killed… Shiny.’ She thought, ‘He’ll just kill me too.’
The Stallion quickly exited the door and left. She was listening for a few dreaded minutes. She heard a muffled voice from behind the door. ‘Only one voice.’ She thought. ‘Just Sombra's.’ She deduced. Despite being tortured she had never lost her studious nature. She attempted to listen to the conversation outside, only catching snippets,
“...highness! You .... me to… her…” She heard what sounded like Andros’s voice say. “YES! NOT RAPE HER!” She could easily hear the obviously mad king of the crystal empire. “Did you even question her?!” Silence stayed for nearly a minute. “Well, Captian Andros… I hereby relieve you of your command. If I see you again, I will put you where she is and trust…” His voice was going softer. “And she… … ... than I ... ”
Twilight heard running down the hall, very fast running in fact, as if it was Rainbow Dash and Applejack running in another race. There was a massive magic blast on the other side of the door that caused Twilight to flinch. ‘I can only assume the Captain… didn’t run fast enough.’ Twilight thought. The door unlocked and opened. Twilight was both happy and scared, ‘What’s he going to do to me?’ He walked over to where she was hanging Twilight was breathing heavily, waiting for something terrible to happen. She heard him begin to channel his magic. ‘He’s going to kill me, isn’t he?’ She went limp, ‘This is the end.’ She was not able to fight it anymore.
He cast the spell too high for it to be intended to kill her. ‘Did he do that on purpose? To give me hope? Only to take it away? She felt the spell hit the rope around her hands. He then replaced the block of ice with a wooden stool, a much higher one. She swallowed a lump down her throat. She dare not speak in fear of them being taken away, she still called to the conditioning performed by the guard captain. ‘What’s he doing? Why is he being so nice?’
Another thought popped into her mind. ‘What does he want with me?’
Sombra looked at the once proud and formidable Alicorn mare before him. ‘I shouldn’t have let that lunatic have so much free reign.’ He looked over the mare. She had bruises all over her body, she had been beaten by him. ‘I had asked to get answers, not for her to be broken.’
He could tell she wanted to ask questions but was too afraid to do so. ‘I have a lot of repairing to do. If she is to be mine.’ He thought, ‘But, I suppose I could get her out of this place.’ He moved towards the mare, she instantly shuffled back at the sound. He hesitated at the display, “I am not going to hurt you Twilight Sparkle.” She didn’t relax, instead choosing to attempt to move back more.
He thought back to when they first faced off, she was strong, independent, and powerful; and she was a unicorn back then. Now she was a tattered, broken, and bloodied alicorn. ‘Not the best upgrade in my opinion.’ He idly thought while moving the chair out of his way. He magically fixed her skirt, which the former captain had failed to fix. She still attempted to move back.
Sombra then focused on her person. He cast his magic up at the chains holding up her hands. They immediately dissipated into nothingness. She fell forward toward Sombra; who caught her before she hit the ground. ‘And caused any more damage.’ Even Sombra could tell this was bad. ‘She’s trembling.’ When he had told his guard Captain to ‘rough her up’ he didn’t mean to rape the young mare. ‘How far had he gotten?’ Sombra thought.
She whimpered when she hit Sombra's Chest. She then pushed off and attempted to stand on her own only to fall back toward Sombra. All the time standing on the ice and her back straight had basically destroyed her ability to stand on her own; ‘I’ll just have to help then, Do I?’ Sombra unbuttoned his trademark red cloak and wrapped it around the Alicorn. She winced as it came to her wings, which were still bound. Sombra recalled that the wings were one of the most sensitive parts of the body of a pegasus.
Without a word, he wrapped the cloak around her and buttoned it up. He ‘coerced’ her into leaning into him to help her stand. He looked down at her feet. They were wet and extremely cold. ‘That’ll not do.’ He thought. He wrapped her feet in his magic and warmed them up. He then took the blindfold off her eyes, he looked deeply at her violet eyes to make sure she wasn't acting. He could immediately tell she wasn’t, 'I know fear, I know pain.’ He thought, ‘She really is broken.'
Twilight Sparkle looked at him in the eye and timidly said, “Thank you.” He just nodded. Twilight looked back down at the floor. They exited the dungeon, Twilight leaning on Sombra for support, into the blinding light. Starting a new day for Twilight

2 - The Recovery [Rewritten]
‘It’s about midnight now.’ Twilight thought, ‘He’s probably on his way back.’ She pulled her knees close. She put her still bound hands around them. ‘What’s he going to do to me?’ She thought She closed her eyes, tears about to burst, ‘Please don’t hurt me.’ She thought.
She pulled the red cloak around her body, her stomach grumbled, she was starving. ‘I haven’t had a proper meal in at least a month.’ She thought, ‘I hope he at least feeds me.’ The warmth produced by her body was heating her up. She closed her eyes and took several deep breathes. She smelled a familiar scent. ‘This cloak smells like him.’ She thought, ‘Well duh,’ She reminded herself, ‘It’s his.’
Twilight was, for the first time in forever, comfortable. She recalled the way that King Sombra had brought her to his bedroom to rest. ‘Why does he make me feel so… safe?’ She questioned, ‘I feel so anxious around him like something is going to happen to me.’ Her thoughts paused, ‘Why?’
Despite her rapid thoughts in her mind, she didn’t move in the bed. SHe was far too weak from the relentless weeks of punishment given to her. She was still in extreme pain from the injuries, they ached at any movement. Her mind still refused to imagine what the guard would do to her if Sombra didn’t intervene and that in itself, is another problem. ‘Sombra saved me, an Alicorn, an enemy. Why would he do that?’ She questioned herself, ‘What does he want from me?’
The thoughts of the walk from the dungeon were still in her mind. The stares were what bothered her the most. ‘What will the ponies think of me? Holding my worst enemy as if…’ She cut off the thought before it was finished. She looked at the window, only now realizing it was nighttime. ‘How long have I been here?’ She went back to questioning herself, sounding repetitive. She curled up in the fetal position, ‘How long was I… tortured for?’
She heard the door begin to open.
Earlier
Twilight was barely keeping herself upright, still using Sombra for support. ‘This is so wrong’, she thought. ‘He should at least be talking.’ Twilight looked up to Sombra’s face to at least make some sort of small talk. Only to find him staring at her, right in the eyes. She immediately moved her eyes and head back down. ‘How long has he been looking at me?’
She quickly looked up again only to find him looking at her. ‘Never going to do that again.’ Her left leg buckled under her, Twilight lost grip of Sombra’s shoulder and she began to fall toward the ground. She felt a strange warmness take hold of her and find herself stop moving. She was brought back up to Sombra and released. This time she fell into Sombra as her legs gave out.
She found herself looking at his armor on his chest, slowly being aroused by his features. The way it glistened in the sunlight made it feel magical, it gave her a good image of what his chest most probably looks like. She suddenly snapped out of her own mind ‘I’m staring at his chest.’ She told herself followed by her immediately looking up to his face. He was smirking at her. Her cheeks went 2 shades purpler.
“Let’s just keep moving.” He said. She nodded and they began walking. ‘That was…’ She tried to actively repress the memory but kept finding herself coming back to it. ‘Just stay out.’ She was so distracted with herself that she didn’t realize Sombra had stopped. She nearly fell off of him. She stumbled a bit and then looked up at him with an annoyed expression on her face. He looked at her and said, “You will stay in my room, for the time being, I will be back at midnight.” He said while unlocking the door. He led her to the bed and sat her down. Her legs felt better with no weight being on them. She immediately laid down on the bed. ‘It’s comfortable… I guess.’
When Sombra turned to leave Twilight had gotten the courage to ask something that’s been on her mind. “Sombra?”She timidly asked, “How do the sun and moon move?” She instantly regretted asking it, ‘I should’ve just kept my mouth shut.’ She cursed internally.
He turned to her, “The sun and moon now move by themselves, They must’ve put them on auto or something.” He said while walking out the door, “It would do you well to get some rest. You must be exhausted.”
He walked out the door, closing and locking it behind her. She contemplated just going to sleep right after he left, but her body stopped her, she looked down at her hands. ‘Maybe I could…”
Twilight immediately began to attempt to take the bindings off her hands. The adrenaline from the walking, however small, had given her enough energy to at least try.
She was skeptical at first, ‘What if he put a spell on it? What if he didn’t do anything and the enchantment is still there?’ Her studious mind calculated the chances, ‘It’s worth a try.’ She reached down with her teeth to begin to pull at the ropes. She had just pulled hard on the end, pulling the rope out, she could feel the knot undoing. ‘Finally.’ She dropped the rope to change her position on the rope. And it just slithered back into place, immediately making it tighter than before. Her hopes had evaporated just as fast as her the losslessness from the bindings.
‘I CAN’T GET A BREAK, CAN I?!’ She internally screamed. Her eyes began to grow heavy, ‘The adrenaline's wearing off.’ She noted before collapsing on the bed. She curled up in the cloak. ‘So comfy.’ She thought as she passed out.
Twilight’s eyes fluttered open. She felt groggy as if she was covered in several layers of grim and dust. She only then realized her condition, her clothes, which were supposed to be pristine and white, were tattered and brown. She wanted to take them off and take a twelve-hour bath, ‘But my hands are tied.’ She looked down at her hands, ‘Quite literally.’ She thought, ‘And Sombra would s-’ She shut down that line of reasoning. ‘Why am I thinking like that?’ She thought. She just sighed.
When she looked out the window she was able to see the sunset, ‘It was late-morning or noon when Sombra left me here.’ She thought, ‘So I still have a few hours before he gets back.’ She breathed a sigh of relief. ‘I don’t want to deal with him right now.’
She just sat there for the next few minutes contemplating her choices, life and anything else that she has done. Eventually, her mind lingered on her friends, ‘What are they doing right now?’ She thought, ‘Were they captured, killed… or…’ “No.” She said aloud, ‘I’m sure they’ve kept their heads down, maybe if I can get out of here, we can still save Equestria.’ She reassured herself several times, ‘They’re fine.’
She sighed again, this time more audible, ‘Stop worrying Twilight. They’re fine.’ She thought. She wrapped herself back up in the cloak and laid back down. She was trying to think of something else, ‘FOOD!’ She internally shouted, slightly rejoicing for finding a new topic for her thoughts. ‘I haven’t eaten in a month, jeez I’d kill for an apple right now.’
Sombra
“Well I feel it would be more advantageous to kill her.” Royal Wit, a Unicorn Stallion, and Sombra’s head advisor told him. “Ponies will gather around her like moths to a flame. We must snuff out that flame.” Sombra sat at the head of the council table. His other councilors were silent on the issue. All except for Fly Away, a pegasus mare, the head of relations, she had an entirely different view.
She was flabbergasted, ‘How could Wit want to throw away such an advantageous mare, Twilight could easily help unite the two nations.’ She turned to the Dark King, “Your Highness, I would advise against it.” Royal and Sombra turned to her.
Royal looked at the blue pegasus, he recognized her,she was chosen for her prowess as a “diplomatic general” who was able to get the ponies of Canterlot to surrender in exchange for their lives and livelihood. “Now now, the grown-ups are talking.” He turned to Sombra, his head was still faced toward Fly.
“What do you have to offer ms.... ?” Sombra asked.
“Fly Away, your majesty. I believe her living would benefit the nation.” Sombra studied the mare, she was undoubtedly an oddity. A blue pegasus mare, who was barely a mare, in a room full of unicorns. “Explain.” He said sternly, ‘This should be fun.’ He thought.
Fly Away began, “If you were to keep Twilight alive, she could be used as a hostage to keep Equestria in check. She could also help us find the Elements of Harmony.” She said, smiling. ‘I think I can convince him.’ She thought.
“By keeping her alive, you could easily find ponies who would attempt to rescue her Fly.” Royal Wit replied.
“Not if she stays willingly. Currently, she was, from what I just heard, tortured under the hands of an insane guard.” Sombra slightly flinched at the remark. Fly continued unabated. “Currently you, your majesty, are the only thing she’s seen in a month that resembles a nice treatment. If you continued on this path, she might just accept a deal with you that would keep somepony she loves safe in exchange for an oath or something else. She might see you as fair and kind.” She paused, Sombra raised an eyebrow, She quickly tried to fix her mistake. “W-which I’m not saying your not your majesty, in her point of view, is what I mean.” She smiled at her speech, ‘I just hope that works’.
The brown vestige of Royal Wit descended on the mare, “What an excellent display of TREASON. Everypony she loves is dead, we found her parents at the ceremony with her brother.” Fly Away’s smile made like her namesake. He turned to the King, “Your Highness, I ask your permission to arrest this traitorous mare.”
Sombra Stood up from his seat. “While I see your points, I must agree with Royal Wit that she is dangerous,” Royal smirked and looked at Fly Away. “However,” His smile disappeared, “She is an asset, one that I do not intend to waste.”
“Your Highness, I must pro-” Sombra stopped him with the wave of his hand. “I put it to the council to decide.” The vote began Royal wit and his cronies, 8 in total raised their hands for killing the princess. The assorted opposition, another 8 raised their hands.
Sombra spoke up, “A tie,” He said, “I will take some time to think, Until then, this meeting is dismissed.” The advisors all got up to leave.
Sombra walked to his bedroom. There was a lot on his mind right now. ‘An 8-8 tie? I never would’ve thought that would’ve happened.’ He protested his own stupid decisions. ‘I never should’ve even put it to a vote, I should’ve made it final.’ He mentally facepalmed. He reached the door and walked inside. With a wave of his hoof, he told his guards to wait outside.
He saw Twilight, still in her bonds, sitting on the bed. She was wrapped up in his coat, attempting to look asleep. He could feel her awareness. “Well, I guess I can’t cut off those ropes now.” He said out loud. She shot up, he smirked, ‘gotcha.’ “Wow, who would’ve guessed. You’re up.” He dispelled the rope around her wrists and took a knife and cut the rope. She felt her wrists with the opposite hands. “I’m guessing I am not going to get my magic or wings back anytime soon?” He raised his eyebrow “...your highness.” She finished. He merely huffed.
He walked up to Twilight and sternly said, “Do not make me regret my decision.” She quickly nodded. “Follow me.” He commanded. The pair walked out of the room. ‘At least her legs are better.’ He internally remarked. ‘I would’ve hated to have to carry her.’ They walked across the hall, he took a key from out of his pocket and unlocked the door. ‘Perfect place to keep an eye on her.’
‘The room had been prepared with all the necessary enchantments an hour earlier.’ The room looked just like his, but instead, there was a bookshelf where there had been a dresser in this room. “There is a washroom over there.” He gestured with his hands to the door to the left. “Your possessions were confiscated and are currently under lock and key, so you get the room along with basic amenities.” He walked up to her. “I am being very generous Princess. ” He said, “Do not test me, if you attempt to escape, I will know of it, I am always within reach; I will personally lead you to the dungeons and this time, nopony will come to the rescue. If you attempt in any way to undermine me there will be severe punishments. I’m sure you’ve already felt some pain, that was but a mere fraction of what I am capable of.” He paused, “Do you Understand?” He asked.
She could only nod. ‘That’s not good enough.’ Sombra thought. “I want to hear you say you understand.” ‘She needs to know I mean it.’
“I-i-i understand…” She said.
“That’s not good enough, princess .” He replied with malice in his voice.
“...y-your majesty.” She croaked out. ‘She must’ve grown complacent of being a princess.’
“Go wash up.” He said sternly. He took off his cloak from her and saw the dreadful state her clothes were in, ‘They’re practically rags.’ He continued with a hand gesture to a side door. “There is a robe in there that you can wear until clothes are brought to you.”
Her stomach growled. She slightly blushed at the display, “May I-i h-have s-s-something to eat and drink?” She stuttered out. She was still looking off to the side for fear of her muzzle touching his chest. She finally included “... your Highness?” ‘At least she can take a hint.’ Sombra thought.
Sombra took two steps back; giving the mare some room. “I will have food sent up to you Twilight, in the meantime, go wash up, your clothes smell disgusting,” Sombra replied. “I’ve heard you like books?”
‘That came out of nowhere.’ Twilight thought. She nodded. “Then some will also be brought up.” Her mind began churning, ‘I haven’t seen a book for nearly a month.’ She thought, slightly putting a depressing mood, ‘It would be great to read again.’
“Thank you… your highness.” She said. He turned to leave, but she asked, “What is my fate going to be King Sombra?” He turned back to her, she was looking at the ground. ‘She probably said that to herself.’
‘Well, she should at least know what’s going to happen to her, I’ll have someone else, maybe Fly Away, talk to her about it.’ He thought. He then replied to her question, “The pony that came up with your fate will tell you personally.”
After some hesitation, she said, “Thank you, your highness.” He only nodded, walked out the door and closed and locked it. Two guards were already at the side of the door. “She is to not leave the room unless I am here, Understand?”
“Yes, your majesty.” They both replied.

3 - The Confession [Rewritten]
‘Well, this is going to be awkward.’ Fly Away thought, ‘Why would he request I meet him in his chambers? Did he change his mind? Did he accept Wit’s? Is he going to accept mine?’ She took quiet steps down the hallway, trying to not disturb anypony who is sleeping. She only had her sleeping gown on as she had been sleeping only half an hour prior when one of Sombra’s guards knocked on her room’s door. ‘Knocked isn’t the correct word.’ She thought, ‘Maybe burst down?’
Her walk down the limitless halls continued, ‘They could’ve at least told me what he wants to talk to me about.’ She thought while walking down the hall. ‘It’s so annoying not knowing.’ She took the left to go to Sombra’s room. ‘Heh, he gets a room and we all get quarters.’ Her ‘Room’ was nothing more than four walls, a bed, a closet, and a nightstand. She saw that across from his door there were two guards stationed, ‘Is that where he’s keeping her?’ She followed up on the thought, ‘Of course, she was in his room earlier in the day. He probably wants her close.’
The blue pegasus mare walked up to the unguarded door and knocked. A voice followed shortly thereafter, “Enter.” It was stern and demanding. She opened the door and entered the room. She immediately turned said, “Your Highness? Is there something the matter?” She was practically oozing with anxiety.
“Yes, there is.” He replied, ‘Oh no,’ her mind began, ‘What did I do? Was it the council meeting? Was I disrespectful? Did nothing happen and he just wants Twilight dead?’ He then followed up, trying to put her concerns to rest, “It has to do with the future.”
“If we are to keep Twilight Sparkle alive, then keeping her as a hostage would only be a temporary solution.” He stated, ‘Temporary? So does he plan on having her executed?’He continued, “Her potential as an asset would be wasted. In other words, I need this ‘Oath’ as you say, from here as soon as possible.” Fly Away was internally cheering, ‘Suck it Wit.’
She again nodded, not showing her increased happiness and not knowing where his line of thought was going. “And this ‘Oath’ as I am thinking of it is Marriage.” Her mouth dropped, Think of a scratch record playing in Fly’s mon, “Marriage!?” She said, not thinking of how insulting it was. The king turned to her, his face seemed to grow angry. She quickly corrected herself, “That would be… an oath… I suppose.”
“I am sending you to Ponyville to get information about the Elements of Harmony, her last friends. If that entails talking or questioning the residents of her home, then so be it.” He then followed up his statement. “That's where anypony she cares about would be.”
‘Ponyville, that’s where my troops were stationed when we were besieging Canterlot.’ He continued, giving her no time to respond or deny the command, “I am aware you are familiar with the town.” She nodded, “Yes your highness. I am. It was the staging area for the siege of-”
“Spare me the detail. I know there are at least five ponies she cares about, and a baby dragon I believe. I am sending you there with detail to find these five ponies, mares I think, and dragon. Conduct the interviews yourself if you must. Once you find them, contact me immediately, if I am to extract their names from Twilight Sparkle, then I will contact you.” He stood up, his shadow casting over her form. “Do not move on them, I will contact you with instructions.”
Fly Away was taken back by the order, “Your Highness, I simply must protest this decision, anypony there will just attempt to throw us out. Maybe send somepony more covert.”
“I’ve made my decision. You leave in two days time.” The king commanded.
“O-of course, Is there anything else you need to tell me?” She asked. ‘I hope not.’ She thought.
“I want you to talk to her now, tiredness makes ponies sloppy. Perhaps you could get some information out of her. My last attempt, as you know, was less than successful.” He said.
Fly Away replied, “Your Highness, I know that you think this is best, but talk to her, I am not as an imposing force as you are, she might be more inclined to talk to you.” She turned to the king. He held a questioning look on her face while he had an expressionless face.
“Well, counselor, I would, but I prefer to get my rest and not deal with any questions she will undoubtedly ask. I could have somepony else do it… if you don’t feel… up to the task.” She immediately knew what he meant, ‘I could replace and discard you.’ She shook her head.
“That won’t be necessary. I will talk to her, but I won’t be able to answer all the questions she asks.” She breathed in, “I’ll have to defer them to you... when you are ready to answer them, your Highness.”
“Alright; now leave me.” The King said, “I expect you to report to me, in the council room, at 6 in the morn.” She nodded, “Yes, King Sombra.” She turned to leave. “Oh counselor,” She turned back, “You should know what failing me means.” She nodded and said, “Your Highness, goodnight.” She turned, opened and walked out the door. ‘I should at least make myself look official.’ She thought.
Twilight was in the shower, she attempted to wash away the pain that plagued her broken and battered body. Suffice to say, it didn’t work. She had inspected her body while the warm water washed over her, the heat from the water was scorching to her, but she didn’t care, ‘It’s not like I’ll be alive long enough, he probably just wants to give me hope and take it away.’ She closed her eyes, ‘Or do what the guard was going to do.’ Twilight went all the way up her body, from feet to head, but she stopped at her wrists. Twilight looked at her wrists, they were unbelievably burned, her fur was black in some places. ‘I could fix this if I had my magic.’ She closed her eyes again, ‘My magic…’ She sat down, ‘He’s never going to let me have my magic back, is he?’
She tried disregarded the thought and tried to wash her body. Twilight had spent half an hour on her tail and mane alone. They were horribly matted and knotted up from all the time she was in the dungeon. She ran a brush through her mane, ‘Ow,’ She thought as she caught a knot. After the fifth time, the brush finally catching no knots. ‘Finally,’ She thought, ‘now the tail.’ It was worse. Her tail had been tied up numerous time when he would torture her, the captain had threatened to cut it off a dozen times and had even cinched it when he attempted to whip her. Eventually, she had gotten all the knots out and cleaned it with soap and shampoo.
She then washed the rest of her body, taking hardly any more time, ‘What if he thinks I take too long.’ She thought. She soaped up her body and washed off. She had been there for almost an hour by the time she had gotten out. When she turned off the water she felt the coolness of the room settle in around her. She shivered, ‘No point in staying in here.’ She thought
She stepped out of the shower and grabbed the towel hanging there, ‘I’d rather dry myself magically, but at this point, I don’t care.’ She thought, her defiant nature seems to have abandoned her. She dried off, spending extra time on her mane and tail again. She threw the towel on the ground when she was done, going into thoughts about her future. ‘Even if he does keep me alive, I’m just a prisoner, aren’t I?’
She looked around the bathroom, ‘Now where’s the bathrobe?’ She thought. Twilight looked all throughout the bathroom, but both the robe and her clothes were gone, ‘What, where-?’ She had a brainwave, an image flashed in her head. ‘Oh I left it on the bed.’ She opened the door. ‘Nopony else is in there anyway.’ She walked out only to find herself staring at the back of a blue pegasus, ‘how did...’ She thought. The pegasus was wearing light gray armor around her body and black pants.
Twilight didn’t even comprehend the fact that she was turning until she was staring at her eyes. Both stood there, wide-eyed, Twilight was looking at the pegasus looking at her. The pegasus soon moved her eyes southward and was looking over her body, but she cou-’Wait, I’m Naked!’ Immediately, Twilight covered herself, but it was already too late, the pegasus had already gotten an eyeful of her voluptuous body. She turned back quickly, “Sorry!” She yelped, “Forgot you had no clothes.” She said while giving a high pitched voice and a forced laugh at the end. She looked down at the bed and saw the robe and the bloody garments.
“Here.” she reached out and grabbed it. While not turning around she handed it to the princess. ‘Former Princess.’ She corrected herself. “Y-yeah t-thanks,” Twilight said, slightly very embarrassed. She quickly put it on. “Okay, it’s fine now,” Twilight said. The blue pegasus turned around.
“I did not imagine that this is how we would meet.” The blue pegasus said. “I expected you to, well, nevermind, it doesn’t matter now.” Twilight finished tying the bathrobe around her body. It was too small for her, but she didn’t care, ‘At least I’m not covered in my friend’s blood.’ She grimly thought, her head moved towards the floor.
She began apologizing again, “Sorry about that.” She said, “I didn’t mean to see you… well... naked.” Twilight only gave a light smile, “It’s not a problem,” She took on a somber tone, “at this point… I just don’t care anymore.”
She stuck out her hand, “I’m Fly away, King Sombra’s diplomatic advisor.”
Twilight began laughing, despite it hurting her stomach she was able to say, “Sombra and d-diplomacy!” She paused due to the pain, “HAH! Now that’s a joke.” Fly Away still had her hand stuck out, her face stoic. Twilight saw this and said, “Y-you’re serious.”
Fly away nodded. Twilight immediately stopped and shook her hand, “Uhh F-former Princess Twilight Sparkle I guess.” ‘I really don’t know what I am right now.’ She thought. “Do you know what I am? Currently, I mean.”
“On the execution block in like an hour.” She said seriously.
“W-wah?” Was all she could stammer out, her legs gave out and she sat down on the bed. “B-bu-but I-i Th-” Twilight had tears brimming in her eyes but was cut off. “Okay, yeah no, I was just kidding with you to uhh… break the tension, though it’d be funny and all.”
“So a-am I?” Twilight asked. ‘Please say no.’
“Of course not.” Fly away replied. She scratched the back of her neck with her hand. ‘She was just kidding, I’m fine, I’m fine.’ She reassured herself. She then went on the offensive, her face went into an angry expression, “That’s not a funny joke.” She croaked out.
“Yeah, it wasn’t. I’m sorry.” Fly said apologetically. ‘At least she seems genuine.’ Twilight thought. Another thought came to her mind, “Why are you here Fly?” Se paused to think, “Why are you working for Sombra?”
She seemed to lose her cheery demeanor, “I was the mastermind who said you should live.” She said seriously, “King Sombra has seen fit to take my course of action rather than the alternative.”
“The alternative?” she asked timidly, “What would that be?” She dreaded the answer.
“Execution, most likely, but there could’ve been something else.” She said matter-of-factly. “But you don’t have to worry about that anymore.” She looked out the enchanted window. “It’s getting late, I should go.” She turned to the door.
*Knock* *Knock *Knock*
Both mares turned to the door. Fly away lightened up, “Oh your food, you must be starving. I overheard that they’ll bring your clothes in the morning, they couldn’t find any clean ones.” She turned and opened the door. A servant was there holding a silver platter. She was a violet mare with a maroon mane wearing a maid outfit. The servant walked inside and put it on one of the desks in the room. “I will be back in the morning to pick up the platter.”
Twilight nodded, “Thank you.” The servant nodded and walked away. Fly Away then turned to Twilight, “I wish a good night.” She walked out of the room fast. Twilight was slightly annoyed, ‘She never answered my second question.’ She pouted. Twilight took the platter and moved it to the desk closer to the window. She only then realized there was a book on it, ‘Predictions and Prophecies.’ She saw the title and gave a light smile. ‘It’s the book that caused me to go to Ponyville in the first place. I never would’ve met my friends without them.’ She lost her smile at the mention of her friends, ‘They’re okay Twilight.’ She told herself, ‘Even Rainbow Dash isn’t dumb enough to get caught by Sombra’s soldiers.’
Twilight took a piece of celery off of the platter and opened the book, ‘Why not start from the beginning. I’ve never actually read the entire thing.’ She trained her eyes on the words on the page. ‘I can’t believe it,’ She thought, she was happy, ‘An actual book, WITH WORDS!’
Three Days Later
8 pm
Twilight was relieved. She had finally gotten a small collection of books and new clothes, that suspiciously looked like her old ones. ‘Maybe there can be some sense of normal around here.’ She thought. She looked down at her wrists. They always remind her of what had happened to her... and what could happen to her again.
She opted to just ignore her hands as much as possible. ‘At least I don’t have to worry about that torturer anymore.’ She huffed and turned the page. Books took her mind off of things. It gave Twilight a sense of home, despite being so far away from Ponyville. She tried not to think about her home, her castle, and her friends. She looked up to see the sun setting.
Her mind drifted while she wasn’t reading. ‘I don’t want to think about them right now.’ She thought. She turned another page. Twilight instantly recognized the page, ‘The mare in the moon.’ Her mind couldn’t ignore it anymore. ‘I need to get a letter out, something out to let them know I’m okay.’ She begrudgingly looked at her wrists, ‘...now.’
*Knock Knock Knock*
She turned her head to the door, ‘Who is it?’ She hadn’t talked to anypony since Fly Away bid her goodnight, ‘And that was three days ago.’ She croaked out the word “Y-yes?” There was the sound of the door unlocking, then the door opened. She immediately tensed up at who entered. “K-king S-Sombra.” She timidly said.
“Twilight Sparkle.” He replied. “I have some questions for you. It would be best for you to answer them.” He walked over to the desk she was at. “I expect you to answer them truthfully, otherwise…” He put his hand on her shoulder. Despite her only feeling it through the cloth, she tensed up even more.
“I’ll answer them!” She blurted out, ‘I don't want to know what he might’ve said.’ She closed her eyes and took several deep breaths. “I just… I’ll answer them… to the best of my ability.” Twilight croaked out. Her throat felt dry all of a sudden, ‘When did I drink last?’ She opened her eyes in time to see him gesture with his hand to sit on the bed.
She was hesitant to comply, ‘Why would he… No, he… wouldn’t’ Her mind railed. She got up out of the chair and walked over to the bed, his hand still on her shoulder. ‘Is this a questioning technique.’ She started to feel warm all over, ‘Why do I… feel like… this?’ Her mind churned. ‘He must be doing something to me.’ Twilight stopped and looked to his face, it was as stoic as ever. She then saw he was holding a glass of water in his other hand. He moved it to her in a friendly manner. She took it and took several gulps. ‘Why does it taste so… funny?’ She thought, ‘But it tastes so refreshing.’
She sat on the bed and he sat next to her. ‘Too close.’ She thought. Twilight looked forward, but she could feel his stare looking down on her features. She began to feel even hotter. ‘What is happening to me?’ However, she dismissed this thought as Sombra began questioning her.
“Twilight Sparkle, you will look at me when you answer the question, otherwise I will assume you're lying.” He said. His voice seething with authority. ‘I can’t have him choose to do the… alternative… as he put it.’
She gave out a sigh, “I-i understand.” She timidly turned to him and slowly trailed her eyes up his body to his face and finally, his eyes. She felt the heat in her body increase. ‘Can myself just… not right now.’ She thought.
Seemingly fine with her slow demeanor, he began questioning her. “You have a castle in Ponyville, correct?”
She looked into his eyes and said, “Yes.”
“Do you know the bearers of the Elements of Harmony?” He asked sternly, studying everything about her.
She brought her eyes down,“... … yes,” She finally said, bringing her eyes back up to his. “Yes, I do.” He moved a hand to her chin. He stared directly into her purple eyes. She looked like she was on the verge of tears. ‘She better have at least somewhat recovered by now.’
“Do not move. This next question is important.” He said sternly, “Understand?” She nodded. ‘I just said… nevermind.’ His hand left her chin. He kept pressing her, keeping the same expressionless expression. “Who are they?”
She looked into his eyes, ‘I can’t.’ She thought. “I-i-i, don’t… can’t…” Sombra interrupted her, “You are lying,” He said, “This is your only second chance, Princess. “ He repeated the question, “Who are THEY?!” She tried to look away, but Sombra brought his strong hand back to her chin, holding her in place. She managed to stammer out a reply, “I can’t! I-I’ve known them for years!” She said, forcing herself to look away, “They’re the last ponies I care about.” Twilight said in a quiet voice, “Please, ask me anything, but that.” She leaned forward, her hands holding her head.
“Well,” Sombra replied, slightly annoyed, “I’ll just have to kill them all then.” Twilight sat up at this. “What… do you mean?” She asked Sombra gave her a smirk, “The townsponies,” He said, “since you can’t identify the bearers, I’ll just have to kill them all. Can’t have them rise up in revolt now can I?”
Sombra then stood up off the bed. “I bed you good-day, Princess. If you change your mind, well It might be a bit late to by tomorrow.” Twilight only hung her mouth open. Her face had one of pure shock on it. Sombra began to walk to the door. A smirk on his face, ‘She’ll come around in 3… 2… 1…’ He heard a defiant and sad, “NO! WAIT! STOP!” from the princess. Something grabbed his hand, He turned only to see her holding his hand as if he was her last hope. ‘Which I am, in this case.’
Tears were streaming down her face, “Please I’ll tell you,” She said between sobs, “Can you... Can you just please… not hurt them. They don’t to be punished because of me.” She was a complete mess, she was no longer holding back tears, openly sobbing into Sombra’s hand and arm. “I give you my word, they will not be harmed.” She was feeling desperate, as if-if he left the room, then they’ll all die.
She seemed to feel better, ‘I can at least know… that they’ll be safe.’ Sombra continued, “Now Twilight, tell me their names.” She nodded, her legs gave out when she stood up. Sombra, the smirk still on his face, helped her onto her feet, she grabbed him and moved her toward the bed.
‘This is the second time he’s done this to me.’ She thought, ‘I can’t help but feel, safe somehow, how though? I’m going to give my friends to Sombra. He moved his hands and both slowly caressed her rump and carefully rubbing his hand through her mane as to not wake her up. He took pleasure from seeing her like this, vulnerable, his. He looked down at her face and saw Twilight’s face, buried against his body. He continued on like this for nearly an hour before falling asleep embracing his Twilight tighter. ‘They’ll never hurt you again.’
