Chapters Unearthing a Sparkling Romance
Ivory had finished up her work day. She was soaking in the mineral hot spring pool in her cavern. It had been a good day and the pile of jewels in the cart was impressive. It had been stored in the holding grotto near the back of the cave where there was access to the private road that came up the back of the mountain.
Now the hot healing waters were doing their magic and the tension in the tight muscles was melting away.
Many questioned Ivory because of her having all the wealth that the gems had given her, why she chose to live in a cave and not a house or an apartment in Manehattan?
They only asked because they’d never been in her cave. There she had carved out a grotto that had been made up with wall boards and polished stone for the flooring, even some false windows for looks. It was as tidy as any luxury apartment.
When you opened the hidden door on the cavern wall, you entered into room after room of opulence. With the way the walls, ceiling, and floors were covered, you wouldn’t know that you were deep underground. But with the light given off by certain gems and heat from ‘fire crystals’, it was as good as any place aboveground, if not better; what uptown apartment could boast a private mineral hot spring.
Ivory decided it was time to go to her rooms to rest for the evening and eat something, so she climbed out of the pool. The mineral rich waters cascaded off her almost perfect body. A body that incited desire in both mares and stallions.
Relations mare with mare was understood as necessary because in spite of the evolution of the race, they still retained the ‘herd animal’ 10 females to 1 male birth ratio.
Relations stallion with stallion were also accepted though fewer in number because of the smaller male population.
Polygamy was also accepted but the practitioners were few with the exception around the Salt Lick City area.
But as desirable as she was, Ivory didn’t make time for such things. Work came first and truth be told, she’d never met any other pony that aroused her interest.
She scooped up her clothing but didn’t worry about getting dressed. She was down here alone so who’d notice? Maybe her little sister who’d would drop in on her once in a while, but there was nothing to hide from her. Quite often she and Marble would lounge in the hot spring together.
Marble was a little jealous that her sister’s body was so hot and she was ‘just blooming’. Marble also envied Ivory’s wealth as well, although Ivory was very generous with the bits she’d give her ‘baby’ sister.
Ivory had an almost motherly love for her sister who was almost young enough to be a daughter. But Ivory would tell marble that she was just as skinny and underdeveloped as she was when she was Marble’s age.
“Give it time, Darlin’,” Ivory would say.
But truthfully, she’d never liked that answer when she was Marble’s age either.
As Ivory went into her ‘apartment’ she saw the note she left herself, sitting on the coffee table in the living room.
“Crap!” she exclaimed to herself. She’d been so busy that she forgot the important appointment.
She had less than forty-five minutes to be downtown and meet with some business mare about a very large order.
Hurriedly she put on a nice business suit including a mid-length skirt. It was nice but not too over the top. Ivory rarely wore skirts or dresses. Not best for mining, plus she didn’t know why she decided to wear this outfit. But later she’d be happy she did.
She applied the slightest amount of mascara, a hint of blush, eye shadow and eyeliner. Then she exited the room and headed to the elevator that took her to the world above.
Ivory’s friend, Stardust Nova, often kidded that Ivory lived a troglodyte lifestyle. But what other cave dweller could boast a bank account as large as hers or a garage full of sport and luxury cars? not to mention motorcycles.
But cave dwelling had a couple drawbacks. Ivory was glad it was getting dusk, that way she didn’t have to deal with the painful getting her eyes adjusted to sunlight. She chose her favorite car parked in the garage where the lift was located. Ivory was in it and gone in no time flat.
Driving with the top down, she sometimes forgot the feel of the cool evening air and the beauty of the stars coming out. The sparkle of the crystal in the ceiling of the cavern were beautiful, but they didn’t match the real stars.
Ivory was seen by many as a very stallion like mare. She was what others would say was drop-dead-gorgeous. She stood 6’ 2” without heels, muscles that were rock hard and she was a bit gruff at times with a risqué sense of humor. But she was all mare inside. She really did like ‘girly’ things but her lifestyle made it impractical to dress up and put on makeup just to swing a pickax all day.
As Sparkling Cider entered the restaurant, she was recognized by the Maître D' as the business mare that supplied the restaurant with its fine ciders.
“Is my table ready?” asked Sparkling reaching out a hand to shake the hand of the Maître D' who took it and then gallantly kissed the back of her hand.
“Ms. Cider,” said the head waiter, “your table is always ready.”
“I’m early, but there’ll be two of us tonight,” said Sparkling.
“Very good, Ms. Cider,” said the head waiter.
She was led to the table, the reserved sign was removed and the Maître D' called over a waiter, who quickly brought over glasses of sparkling water with lemon. Sparkling ordered a bottle of their best cider (her brand) and two glasses. Aside from her line of fine ciders, she also had a line of beauty products.
Originally just lotions, creams and soaps. But she had expanded to include makeups.
This was the reason for the meeting. Some of her makeups used pulverized substandard or industrial grade gemstones for color and sparkle. Unfortunately, the supply from southern Equestria had been slowing and the quality was dropping as the prices had been increasing.
Her friend, cartoonist and artist, Ink Blots, had mentioned that there was a gem and fine crystals miner and supplier just outside of Manehattan. Word was it was some of the finest stones in Equestria.
Sparkling thought it over and was afraid that if the quality was that good, there’d be major bits involved. But she wouldn’t know if she didn’t look into it. So she contacted the owner of the mine and made an appointment for tonight.
Arriving at the restaurant where she was to meet the client, Ivory pulled up to the front and allowed the valet to park. Ivory was amused at the valet because she couldn’t stop checking her out. Entering the establishment, she inquired if her client was already there. She was informed that the lady had been waiting for twenty minutes (Ivory wasn’t late, Sparkling was early). Ivory gave the Maître D' a 50 bit note and she was led into the restaurant.
At the table she was being led, was a petite mare with short, styled blond hair and green eyes that shown like stars. Ivory noticed that her short cut blond hair was mirrored with the short (stylish) tail.
To tell the truth, she was breath taking!
Ivory suddenly was glad she’d chosen the outfit but wished she’d put some thought to the minor amount of makeup she’d put on.
Sparkling Cider had been looking over some proposal documents and a draft contract when movement in her direction caused her to look up.
She saw the Maître D' leading a mare in her direction. Mare was probably the wrong word. She appeared to be a living goddess who’s almost pure white coloration and sapphire blue eyes made her look like she was a marble statue that had come to life.
Sparkling was afraid she was going to drool.
The Maître D' motioned to the table. As Ivory approached, Sparkling stood. She was amazed at the height difference, Ivory had to be at least a foot taller if not more, and she wasn’t wearing ‘heels’. Ivory extended a hand in greeting.
“Hello, I’m Ivory, delighted to meet you,” said the mare in a pleasant and almost husky voice.
“Very pleased to make your acquaintance, I’m Sparkling Cider.” Said the mare in a voice that put music to shame.
The hand shake was gentle, but Sparkling could feel the rough hands of someone who’d worked at physical labor all her life. Also she could tell that this hand could have crushed hers, literally, if so inclined. Such was the strength that was hinted. Sparkling was having trouble remembering why she was here. Such was the attraction and yes, arousal she was feeling.
Ivory thought how dainty and soft this mare’s hand was. The type of hand that would be Elysium if it were giving a back rub. Just the touch would be exciting and perhaps, arousing.
She was afraid that if she didn’t pay attention, she’d sign over the entire claim to this beautiful mare just because she asked it and not realize what she’d done until later.
‘Sparkling Cider? How appropriate,’ thought Ivory, ‘everything about this mare is intoxicating!’
They sat and ordered dinner, Ivory insisted that they not talk business until they’d eaten. She also insisted that she’d be picking up the cheque.
Since the first days that the pony race had risen in intelligence from the four footed and hoofed Equus Ferus Caballus to the bipedal and multiple-digit Equus Ferus Sapiens ; the strict herbivorous diet had changed into a omnivorous diet. Many Neo-Ponies or (just Ponies as they still referred to themselves even though there were actual Equus Ferus Caballus ponies still in existence) still stuck to the mostly vegetarian diet; such as Ivory was assuming from her order that Sparkling Cider was one such pony. Others allowed themselves the consumption of meat.
It was conjectured that do to some ecological disaster in the past, the ponies had to scavenge meat as a way to survive as do all herbivores in times of decreased food supply or the food supply lacked some nutrient such as calcium or phosphorus. It was now thought that the consumption of the extra protein had jumpstarted the development of the equine brain.
Which because of the extra need for the manipulation of things in the environment (for those who didn’t have magic), the hooves had changed to hands and feet. The vestigial 3 toes had changed to 4 fingers and an opposable thumb with five toes on their feet.
As far as magic went, those of the Unicorn race still retained a small amount. But nothing like it had been in the past. Mostly levitation and other abilities as their ‘special talents’ required. Just as Pegasi had retained wings and the ability to fly, though maybe not as well as in the past.
After hearing the very attractive mare she was dining with order a dinner salad with cheese and nuts, Ivory thought that to avoid any debate or affront, she’d order a chef salad hoping that the little meat would be acceptable. But Sparkling had ordered her salad because she was assuming Ivory might be a vegetarian.
But no mention of the food was brought up.
The conversation was light and Ivory was successful in keeping her crude humor in check. At one point, Sparkling laughed at something and she placed her hand on Ivory’s. It was about to drive Ivory wild.
When Ivory told a funny story, Sparkling laughed hard. She put her hand out to steady herself and it landed on Ivory’s. To her delight, Ivory didn’t pull back but actually took her hand and held it.
Ivory was ready to release the hand she was enjoying holding if the slightest hint or resistance appeared.
It didn’t.
“So this cider is yours,” asked Ivory.
“Well, it isn’t mine per se. If you’re picking up the cheque, then it’s yours (both mares chuckled). But it’s from my company and my recipe. It’s kind of funny if you think about it. I go out to eat and pay for cider that the restaurant paid me for,” giggled Sparkling.
Ivory laughed at the irony of the situation, but truthfully, she was laughing at the joy she was feeling in the company of this mare.
They sat for several moments, just looking into the eyes of the other.
‘Don’t act like a dork and ruin this Iv’y,’ thought Ivory.
‘Don’t come on like a silly filly and ruin this Sparkly,’ thought Sparkling.
“So how can I help you Darlin’?” Ivory said at last.
“Besides the cider business, I also have a line of beauty products. We use substandard, industrial grade gemstones, pulverized, to add sparkle to many of our makeup products. These have been getting harder and harder to get from southern Equestria yet the price has been escalating. A friend mentioned your operation and I decided I had to…”
Sparkling unintentionally paused as she drew a deep breath looking at Ivory.
“Check you out …”
Sparkling sighed and then blushed, Ivory smiled.
“I mean check out your operation!
Understand that I’m not saying your product is substandard. I’m just wanting to see about acquiring any of the gems and crystals that are unsellable in the gemstone industry, what some call ‘industrial grade’.”
“I think we can come to some arrangement, Miss Cider,” said Ivory.
“Sparkling, please.”
“Thank you, Sparkling, I don’t usually do this, but why don’t I give you a tour of my mine. That way you can get an idea of…
Ivory also unintentionally paused as she drew a deep breath looking at Sparkling.
What it is that I have to offer you …”
Ivory hesitated looking at this beautiful mare holding hands with herself. But then with a blush of her own.
“I mean what I can offer.”
The two realized that the little innuendos, though unintentional, were saying what each mare was thinking. But they could tell that the other didn’t mind at all.
“I’d like that Ms. Ivory.”
“Just Ivory.”
“Thank you, Ivory. I could be available tomorrow. Say about 3ish? If it isn’t inconvenient,”
“If it was, I’d change anything that may interfere. Do you need directions?”
“No, just an address will do. That way I can take a taxi.”
“A taxi?” asked Ivory, “did a taxi bring you here?”
“Yes, it’s so hard to maintain a car in the city.”
“Well I don’t live in the city so having cars isn’t a problem. I’d be happy to give you a ride home. That way I can know where to pick you up tomorrow.”
“I’d like that,” said Sparkling giving Ivory’s hand, which she was still holding, a little squeeze.
The ride home was enjoyable for the two. The sports car Ivory was driving was thrilling for Sparkling. The company in the passenger seat was just as thrilling to Ivory.
As they stopped at the apartment building, Sparkling got out and looked at Ivory.
“Thank you for the ride,” said Sparkling.
“Any time, Darlin’.”
Sparkling stood there just looking at Ivory. Ivory was sitting there looking back. Both felt as if something was missing.
“See you tomorrow afternoon,” said Sparkling.
“See you then,” said Ivory.
Both were still stuck in place. But both realized what was going on. Ivory smiled and put the car in gear, Sparkling waved and turned to go inside.
As Ivory drove off, she was watching Sparkling go inside.
“Damn!” said Ivory as the building in the mirror faded into the background.
Unearthing a Sparkling Romance
ACT TWO: Sparkling Possibilities
Ivory drove home and then after taking care of a few things, went to bed. Often she’d smell her hand, there was the scent of some very nice apple scented perfume or lotion lingering on the hand that had been holding Sparkling’s hand.
‘I’m glad Stardust Nova didn’t see any of that,’ thought Ivory to herself.
She knew that her friend would tease her unmercifully if she knew. But Ivory decided that she didn’t care.
Ivory’s clothes were put into the laundry bag to be taken to the cleaners. Then her naked form slipped between the crisp, clean sheets.
She kept reflecting on their parting. Yes, it was something completely out of character for the rough miner. But Faustdamn it! She was so craving to have kissed that special mare goodnight. And she’d bet a month’s profits that she’d be so soft to hold.
“Come on!” she said aloud, “am I really doing this to myself?”
Ivory’s mind tried to go into business mode thinking what this opportunity could lead to. Her gems in a nationwide line of beauty products.
Ivory’s magic extinguished the lights in her bedroom. Here underground, the dark was so thick that you could almost feel it. It was one thing Ivory loved about living here. No distractions from lights or traffic outside and no sounds except the distant faint sound of water dripping somewhere in one of the tunnels.
This gave her mind the ability to concentrate on any lingering thoughts. But now, the only thing she was thinking of was that beautiful mare she’d just had dinner with. In this dark, it didn’t matter if eyes were open or closed, it was the same. Because of this, she could see Sparkling Cider vivid in her mind. Her imagination ran wild and she could see Sparkling sharing the hot spring with herself. The passion they were sharing was nothing Ivory had ever imagined.
“If I was only that lucky,” said Ivory out loud. Then she turned on her side and drifted off to sleep. Her dreams were of a very special mare.
The rest of the evening was a blur. Sparkling took a quick shower and went to bed. Unfortunately, her mind was flooded with images of a goddess like figure. It was all Sparkling could do to not touch herself as she imagined what the mare would look like in the most intimate of settings.
She had the curtains drawn back and the stars were visible to an extent.
Stars that reminded her of gems.
Gems reminded her of Ivory.
After realizing she wasn’t going to sleep anytime soon, she got out of bed and went into her office and turned on her desk light. She started to make out a list for tomorrow:
A standard contract
4 bottles of the best hard cider and glasses.
Change of clothing and underwear along with a toothbrush and tooth paste.
She didn’t understand why she put the last one down. Or at least she wasn’t willing to admit it to herself at this time.
After writing all this down, Sparkling lay back down and drifted off to sleep dreaming about a tall, strong and beautiful mare carrying her off to bliss.
Prism Wing was an early riser, but this was early.
The knocking she thought she’d heard was repeated, so she wasn’t dreaming it. Throwing on a robe, Prism walked to the front door and opened it. Without being invited, Ivory came in.
“Iv’y, why don’t you come inside?” said Prism sarcastically.
“I already did,” said Ivory with a smirk.
“I can see that,” said Prism, “did you need something important or is it Harass Prism Wing Day and I missed the memo?”
“I’m sorry Prism,” said Ivory, “I wasn’t thinking. I can come back later.”
“No Iv’y, I’m up now. What can I do for you?”
“Prism, I have a mare coming over later.”
“Good for you, it’s about time. So you’ve come over to brag, is that it?”
“No, I don’t know how to handle it. She’s a big shot in the cider and beauty products biz in Manehattan. She wants to buy industrial grade gems and crystals to grind up for cosmetics. It could be a very good business deal.”
“Okay… So I fail to see the problem.”
“The problem is, she’s hot as Tartarus! I could barely keep my mind on business as we ate last night. She’d arranged a meeting to talk business but we ended up holding hands and then I drove her home. I’m going to pick her up later to show her my operations.”
“So…” said Prism.
“Prism, I’ve never felt like this just looking at a pony. I was so much wanting to kiss her goodnight!”
“Well,” snickered Prism Wing, “don’t try to show her your bedroom too quickly!”
The two friends laughed hard.
Ink Blots was over at her friend’s apartment. She was asked to come over to fix up Sparkling’s hair. Inky told Sparkling it wasn’t necessary for a business meeting, but Sparkling insisted.
“So this mare must be very important,” said Ink Blots.
“Inky,” said Sparkling giving herself a hug and a short squeal, “this mare is beyond important. So much so that I don’t care if we come to some business arrangement. But I wouldn’t want to make a fool of myself to her.”
“She must really be special for you to want to go all out like this.”
“Special doesn’t even come close, Inky. The mare is a goddess come down to earth. I wish I had her as a spokesmodel for my products. But more than that,” said Sparkling blushing brightly, “I wish I had a chance to be held in those strong arms.”
“Sparkly, I’ve never ever heard you talk about anyone like that before. As your friend, I wish you all the luck in business and even more luck with the mare herself.”
The two friends hugged tightly.
It was 2:55 pm.
Ivory pulled up to the apartment where she’d dropped Sparkling off that previous evening.
Ivory was glad that the mare wasn’t out there yet. She needed to relax and find her center. She didn’t want to come off like a school filly with a crush. Although it could be forgiven. She never had any kind of a crush as a school filly.
This really was business, in spite of how Ivory had been imagining this. The last thing she wanted to do is come on too strong and there not be anything on the other mare’s mind other than business and she was just a friendly and outgoing mare.
That’d be a huge disappointment. But Ivory knew that life doesn’t always go as we wish or hope. And she didn’t want to blow a lucrative business deal because of an overactive libido.
This was all new to Ivory. She’d never had a coltfriend or marefriend in her life… Even as a filly. She was really never interested, so she was so far out of her comfort zone.
She’d never let anyone know of her ‘inexperience’. She was sure that if Stardust Nova knew, she’d have such ammunition to use against her to make her life miserable for some time to come. As if being a virgin at her age was something shameful or comical.
Plus she’d have to go through all the trouble of hanging Stardust by her suspenders from a stalactite until she felt like letting the little smartass down. Not to mention having to put up with all her swearing and screaming…
Like the last time.
Sparkling Cider was looking out her apartment window. She saw the convertible sports car of Ivory’s. She wanted to rush right down there, but her feet were frozen in place.
‘Come on Sparkling!’ she thought, ‘what’s wrong with you? She won’t bite…
Well hopefully she might nibble if I asked nicely.’
Sparkling giggled and her jest relaxed her enough to go down to meet her date… Business contact she corrected herself.
Sparkling’s brain kept telling herself that this was business and not a date. But her heart so wanted it to be a date.
Sparkling was pleased with the look on Ivory’s face as she exited the apartment building.
Ivory reached over and opened the passenger door. Sparkling put her bag in the back seat, sat down, buckled in and closed the door. Before she could do anything, Sparkling took Ivory’s hand.
“I can’t tell you how happy I am that you’re doing this for me,” said Sparkling.
“I’m happy to do this as well,” said Ivory.
Unfortunately, Ivory had to release Sparkling’s hand so she could operate the car. As they sped off in the late afternoon, Ivory would at times glance over at the mare in the car with her.
It was hard not to just look at her, but she had to keep her eyes on the road. But it was a thrill when she saw Sparkling looking at herself and smiling.
Soon enough they were out of the city and headed to the hills where the mine was located. Sparkling was in awe.
“I take it you don’t get out of the city often, Darlin’.”
Sparkling looked at Ivory and smiled.
“No,” said Sparkling, “most of my time is spent in the city. I do get a chance once in a while to go home to the apple farm. But it still isn’t this far out. I should thank you for this alone.”
“Sparkling,” said Ivory, “don’t take this wrong, but I’d be happy to drive you to the moon if you asked it of me.”
Sparkling and Ivory both blushed realizing the underlying meaning of what was just said. A feeling she was sharing as well.
But before much else was said, they turned off the main road and up a hill to a flat expanse. The only structure was a low metal building, like a large garage. There was also a street light on a tall pole that illuminated the general area. Nothing else to give an idea that someone lived there.
“This is where I live,” said Ivory.
“Somehow, it’s not like I’d imagined,” said Sparkling puzzled.
Ivory chuckled, this was always the reaction.
“Just wait,” said Ivory smiling.
Ivory pressed a button on the dash and the garage door opened, a light came on as well. Sparkling saw the reason why the building was so large on the outside. It wasn’t Ivory’s dwelling, but a large garage with what looked like a small room in the back corner. There were several other cars parked there. Most of them high end models. Along with a couple of impressive motorcycles.
Sparkling’s business had made her financially comfortable, not quite rich. But this hinted at a level of financial success over and above her own. She was impressed.
As they parked, Ivory said:
“Wait there just a moment, Darlin’.”
Sparkling watched as Ivory got out, went around to the passenger side, reached over and took Sparkling’s bag from the back then reached out her hand to her guest.
To the delight of both, Sparkling continued to hold Ivory’s hand as she was led to the small room in a back corner, as the garage door closed.
Ivory slid the door open and it was apparent that this was an elevator. Sparkling was intrigued. They entered the lift, closed the door and Ivory pressed a button. The lights in the garage turned off as they started to descend.
The lift moved so quickly that Sparkling wasn’t prepared and grabbed Ivory’s arm. Again, neither minded.
When they stopped, the door opened and Ivory led Sparkling out into the main cavern. It was breathtaking. The overhead, which was almost lost in the gloom, sparkled with multicolor gems. There was light from the crystals themselves.
“How far down are we,” asked the petite mare.
“This part of the mine is only about one hundred feet down. There are parts that go much deeper.”
Sparkling was slightly nervous about being this deep down. But as long as she was holding Ivory’s hand or arm, she felt secure.
Ivory led them to what looked like a wall which she grabbed a small protrusion and pulled. The door or wall opened soundlessly and effortlessly. Behind the hidden door was a very nice living room. Ivory put down Sparkling’s bag by a sofa and looked at her guest.
“Do you want to see the mine now or do you need to go to the bathroom or sit down first?”
“Please,” said Sparkling, “I’d love to see the mine.”
Outside the living area was a small worktable with tools. Hardhats were hanging on the cave wall. Ivory picked up a geologist hammer and slipped into her belt. Then she put on a hardhat and handed one to Sparkling.
“Safety first, Darlin’,” said Ivory. Sparkling smiled and put on the hardhat.
A magic glow appeared around the large crystals mounted on the front of both helmets. They started to give off a bright beam of light. Sparkling was amazed at Ivory being able to use magic like that.
Ivory continued to hold Sparkling’s hand as she led them back out into the main part of the cavern.
Sparkling was shown the major points of the cavern. There were several passages that went off in many directions. Ivory described how some types gems were found in lower levels and how some of them were everywhere just for the taking, if you only knew where to look.
“How do you know where to look?” asked the petit mare.
“I guess it’s the special talent of mine. If you ever saw my cutie mark you’d see a gem surrounded by stones,” said Ivory blushing. She was actually wanting to show it to Sparkling, along with the rest of her flanks and under her tail.
“Could you show me?” asked Sparkling. Then realizing what that sounded like, with a bright blush she quickly added, “finding the gems, that is.”
Although she wouldn’t have minded the other as well.
Ivory chuckled and smiled at Sparkling.
“Watch,” said Ivory.
With that, Ivory looked at the cave wall as her horn glowed a blue aura. Ivory reached out her hand, which was glowing as well, and moved it around as she felt the stone with her eyes closed. She opened her eyes, smiled and took the hammer from her belt. Then she struck the tool against the wall just a couple times with the chisel end.
When the loosened stone fell away, there in the wall was a brilliant diamond of a respectable size. Using the chisel side again, Ivory wedged it between the wall and gem and gave a mighty pull (her bulging arm muscles almost made Sparkling swoon) until the stone came loose. Then slipping the hammer back into her belt, Ivory reached in a pocket, and pulled out a jeweler’s loop and examined the sparkling diamond.
Sparkling was in awe at how quickly Ivory had found this stone.
“I’m sorry,” said Ivory handing the gem to Sparkling, “you can’t use this one in your products.
It’s flawless…
Just like you.”
Sparkling smiled at the complement and looked at it in wonder. Feeling the weight and seeing the sparkle, she imagined what the polished stone would look like. Then she handed it back to Ivory.
“Is there a problem, Darlin’?” said Ivory with a smirk, “perhaps you want a larger one? Maybe a ruby, emerald or sapphire perhaps?”
The diamond was the size of a large goose egg.
“You can’t give me this!” said Sparkling astonished.

They continued to explore the cave system. Sparkling was enraptured at the possibilities. But she was becoming more enraptured with the mare she was holding hands with.
Finally they made it back to the living area. Ivory put away the hammer and they took off the hardhats and went in.
Ivory had a lite dinner prepared of soup and sandwiches. The two ate at the kitchen table talking about little things, such as were they went to school and who they knew.
When finished, Ivory had Sparkling have a seat in the living room as she cleared away the dishes and put them in a dishwasher.
Now they sat side by side on a sofa with a coffee table in front of them. Sparkling went over the agreement paperwork, explaining it in very good detail. Ivory was impressed with the business savvy this little mare was displaying. She’d explained all the details, the two haggled over costs until everything was agreed on. Both signed and Sparkling put one copy along with the diamond in her bag and gave Ivory a copy.
They shook hands but it didn’t feel right. Like it wasn’t enough.
Sparkling took out of her bag two glasses and an insulated package holding 4 bottles of her best cider. They toasted each other and sipped at the wonderful cider.
Sparkling noticed that Ivory looked lost in thought, there was a strange look on her face as she looked at her glass.
“What?” asked Sparkling.
“Oh, it’s nothing,” said Ivory.
“Come on,” said Sparkling with a smile, “we’re business partners now.”
“I was thinking how nice this cider is and how it would go great with a dip in my mineral hot spring.”
“Ooo!” said Sparkling, in almost a squeal, “a hot spring! How nice, I wish I’d brought a bathing suit.”
Ivory looked down and mumbled something. It was the first that Sparkling had noticed any lack of confidence on Ivory’s behalf.
“What was that?” Sparkling asked.
Ivory looked away, blushing brightly.
“I never wear one,” said Ivory quietly.

ACT THREE: I Hadn’t Intended This
“Will you show me the spring?” asked Sparkling innocently.
Ivory led Sparkling to a passage not far from her dwelling. One that Ivory hadn’t shown Sparkling. It didn’t go far and there was a large pool. Little wisps of steam rose lazily from the water.
Sparkling launched herself at Ivory. Ivory lifted the smaller mare cradling her firm round butt and kissed her deeply. It was more pleasant than she’d imagined.
“Ivory,” said Sparkling, breaking the kiss and laying her head against Ivory’s firm breasts, “I’ve wanted this since our dinner yesterday.”
As time wore on, they got out of the water and lay themselves on the nearby mats.
There was plenty of cider drinking, kissing and heavy petting.

Ivory found Sparkling almost dressed in the bedroom.

They went out and found Marble sitting on a chair in the living room.marefriend , Sparkling Cider. Sparkling, this is Marble.”
Ivory and Sparkling smiled.

Ivory had packed a small bag. Sparkling suggested that Ivory come over and spend a day (and night) at her place.
That next day on the MCM’s favorite street corner:
“Hey Marble!” said Spritz, drinking a bottle of pop, “how’s it hangin’?”
“They were kissing and… Naked.”
Luckily, Marble wasn’t in the line of fire as Spritz spewed out her mouthful of soda pop.spanking the monkey doesn’t count.”
Marble looked gobsmacked. Spritz and Plume laughed hard at Marble’s reaction.
“Hey Marble!” called Plume, “we’re just kidding with you!”don’t envy the two of you having sisters,” said Plume, Spritz just nodded her head.stupid .”
Spritz also ran off to her sister’s place. She wanted to get help with this. It didn’t matter how mad Sparkly would get with her, she really was concerned for her friend and didn’t understand why..
“Where’re you going?” called out Plume. But Spitz kept going. “Typical!”
As Marble was running home, she still had some tears. She really didn’t want to be un-cool but she was also afraid of what could happen.
Pip was riding his bike home when he saw Marble waving at him, he rode over to her.
In Sparkling’s apartment:
But this was disturbed by an excited voice.
“Sparkly!” said a filly’s voice. “Sparkly! Are you home?”
The couple broke the kiss as the filly entered the room.
“Oh my Faust!” said Spritz, her eyes were wide and bulging seeing Ivory’s looks and physique, forgetting for a moment why she was there.
Ivory got up and walked to Sparkling’s bedroom to retrieve her clothing. The shape and movement of Ivory’s ass memorized Spritz.
Ivory walked back in the room.she has some common sense,” said Sparkling scowling at her sister.
Outside the apartment, Spritz was walking toward a taxi stand, but she noticed that her sister and Ivory were walking to a very nice convertible sports car.
Spritz was lost. Here she sat in the back of the ‘baddest’ car she’d ever ridden in, with her sister’s marefriend who was the most beautiful mare she’d ever seen.
It wasn’t long before they pulled up to Ivory and Marble’s family home.

“You can come in now, Pip,” said Marble in a timid voice. “Just keep the lights off.”
Ivory opened the door, walked in and motioned the others to stay back then she closed the door. As she came in, she saw her sister naked and on her back, knees bent and legs spread. One arm was trying to cover her small breasts and a pillow was over her face.
“Put this on first, Pip. And if I find that you didn’t, or I hear that you told anyone about this, I’ll have my sister beat you to a bloody pulp,” said Marble holding out a condom package, her hand was shaking slightly, “and I’m not joking!”

ACT FIVE: Changing Relationships
It was several weeks later…
Ivory had invited her sister and her marefriend’s sister over to spend a weekend with Sparkling and herself. She figured that she should get to know her marefriend’s family better.
Ivory and Sparkling were sitting in the hot spring. They were holding hands and kissing tame kisses. They had to hold off on the ‘good stuff’ because Marble was in the pool as well. Spritz was standing by the edge. She was still dressed.
Spritz looked even more embarrassed, more than Sparkling or Marble had ever seen. With shaking hands she undressed, the clothing fell to the cave floor.
Sparkling saw what her sister was referring to. She was a ‘late bloomer’. She only had a hint of the breasts developing, the ‘training bra’ was almost not necessary as of yet. There was no flaring of the hips yet either. Her body was reminiscent of a colt’s body.

“Marble, Spritz,” said Ivory, “we need to talk about something,”
“And naked,” said Ivory.
The two looked embarrassed.
“Iv’y,” said Marble, “we’re sorry.”aren’t in trouble. And you haven’t done anything wrong. What you felt is normal and yes, in the right circumstances, can be very beautiful.”
Marble and Spritz looked at each other nervous. Marble took and held Spritz’s hand. The older sisters actually smiled at this.
“We kissed and ‘felt each other up’ quite a bit,” said Marble.rubbing each other off ,” said Spritz.
“I suppose this means we can’t ever spend time here with you at the same time?” asked Marble looking let down.

ACT SIX: Getting Comfortable
A couple months passed and Ivory and Sparkling have grown very comfortable in their relationship. Many, but not all the time they’d spend the night with each either at the Gem Cave or Sparkling’s apartment. Because of finding out that there were bats that’d frequent the cave, Sparkling was more comfortable at her apartment, but the apartment didn’t have a hot spring. But it didn’t matter, they were so happy together.
The other change was, in spite of trying to be secretive, Marble and Spritz were spending a lot of time together. They avoided any hand holding or kissing in public or at school. But it was getting harder to keep it all under wraps.
They decided to let someone in on their secret, so they arranged to meet their friend and fellow MCM, Plume, in the park. Spritz and Marble were behind a decorative wall kissing when Plume happened upon them.

How…
Oh crap, I don’t even know what to say!”
Marble and Spritz released the other and sat on the ground, Plume sat as well.
“How the Tartarus did you two end up like this and how long has it been going on?” asked Plume.

Ivory and Sparkling were doing a bit of grocery shopping on Friday afternoon. They were now staying together so much, that they were starting to pool their resources. Actually, with Ivory’s wealth, she didn’t mind footing most of the bill. And Sparkling really did appreciate it. She knew that Ivory wasn’t trying to buy her love. Ivory was showing her love by making things easier on her marefriend.
Later at Sparkling’s apartment, they’d just finished putting the groceries away and went in the living room with a couple bottles of cold cider.
“What’s wrong, Honey?” asked Sparkling.we can go the next step? Why do we have to hide it? I almost feel like we’re ashamed or doing something dirty.”
Ivory appeared to cheer up and then got a sly smile.
“Well if you feel that way about me, why are you still dressed?” said Ivory with a smirk.
As they were snuggling in their afterglow, Sparkling had an idea.
It was the next Saturday and Ivory, Sparkling, Marble and Spritz were at the pool undressing. Plume hadn’t truly believed what her friends told her was true. But here they were, the two adult sisters. Sparkly was a very sweet looking mare. Spritz was kind of flat, but there was something about her body that was very attractive. Marble was the most ‘developed’ of the group of friends but seeing Marble’s sister, she knew why. Iv’y was the hottest hard body Plume had ever seen. She was more than any mares her imagination cooked up during the times she was alone at home ‘touching herself’.
Iv’y and Sparkly were sitting a little away from the girls. Plume couldn’t see, but she could tell that their hands were all over the other. The funny thing also, Spritz and Marble were kissing and holding the other close.

PROLOGUE: Welcome to an Alternative Universe
The moderator of ultimareuniverse.tumblr.com has graciously allowed me to use the characters and world from their Unity is Alchemy currently (at the time I’m writing this) under ‘Indefinite Hiatus’. I can relate. Even as good and well thought out a project can be, you have to walk away for days or weeks or months or even years to allow the inspiration to return. I hope they take up the story eventually.
As to the world: It’s an anthro alternative universe where the mane 6 are there but as the moderator puts it: Different lives. Different attitudes. Same interests.
Perhaps if I continue this in the future, I will go into more detail of the differences. As to background characters, some of the differences are hinted at.
They do later discover another type of crystal mirror that allows them to travel to the MLP:FIM (anthro) universe. It opens for a limited time every 10 moons. But for now, that part is unimportant.
As far as the denizens of this world, I’ll do a quick introduction in the form of an illustration to see the differences and to Identify their counterparts.

I am going to take a road with them that probably wasn’t thought of by the blog’s moderator. I am taking artistic license.

ACT SEVEN: A Party And A Confession
About 6 months after Ivory and Sparkling started seeing each other, they’d all but moved in with each other. There were very few days that they did not spend their after work time together, not to mention the nights. Now they couldn’t imagine anything else.
Sparkling was sleeping in the bed at her apartment. Ivory had been awake for some time. It was warm and Sparkling had kicked the covers off herself during the night and Ivory was admiring the beautiful body in bed with herself.
‘How have I become so lucky?’ Ivory thought to herself.
Ivory’s was propped up on her side on one elbow looking at her beautiful marefriend. Her hand was lightly stroking the silky coat of this beautiful mare’s tummy. But before she realized, a hand reached out and took Ivory’s hand and directed it to Sparkling’s breast.
Turning her head and opening her eyes, Sparkling smiled.
“Just can’t get enough… Eh?” asked Ivory.

“Honey,” said Sparkling, “I’ll never get enough of you.”
“Same here, Darlin’,” answered Ivory, kissing Sparkling again.
“And as much as I’d love to make you squeal this morning…” said Sparkling.
“I don’t squeal!” protested Ivory.
“You squeal like a little filly!” snickered Sparkling.
“I’ll make you squeal,” said Ivory grabbing up her lover and kissing her deeply.
They broke the kiss and laughed.
“What I was trying to say before you shoved your tongue down my throat, is that we have that cocktail party tonight. And I have a lot to get ready for it. There’ll be a lot of cider and restaurant bigwigs. Not to mention the Manehattan social elite,” said Sparkling,
“Are you sure you want me to go with you,” asked Ivory, “we haven’t decided to come out as a couple yet. Because of business and not looking like conflict of interest with the makeup/gem contract.”
“I know, honey,” said Sparkling hugging her marefriend tightly. “I’m not ashamed of our relationship or of you. I promise that we can start to be more public with this. But after this party.”
“I want that as well,” said Ivory giving a small but honest kiss to her marefriend as she got out of the bed. “You going to join me in the shower?”
“You know it,” said the smaller mare sliding off the bed and walked with Ivory to the bathroom.
Later, after they got dressed and eating breakfast, Sparkling walked Ivory to the door. There they kissed a respectable goodbye kiss.
“I’ll be by at 5,” said Ivory, “I think I’ll bring the big motorcycle.”
“Then I’ll take a taxi!” said Sparkling; acting indignant but knowing that Ivory was kidding her. “And, you can sleep by yourself for a couple months.”
“I didn’t drool because of the car!” said Sparkling as she paused and blushed, “you weren’t wearing a bra and you’d unbuttoned your shirt at the traffic light and were driving almost topless! And I drooled on your breasts, not the seats.”
The two laughed and kissed again.
“Now get out of here! I have a lot to do! And make sure you dress formally,” said Sparkling.
The large black sedan pulled up the venue for the cocktail party. Ivory got out, went around to the passenger side and took Sparkling’s hand and helped her out. Then she gave the keys to the valet.
They walked through the doors into the large banquet room. Looking around, Sparkling was impressed with who was there. She was a little afraid that Ivory would be intimidated. But she showed her usual bravado.
“High end event, stuffy crowd. If anyone asks, you’re my escort,” said Sparkling.
The two chuckled softly.
Ivory was an experienced business mare, but she didn’t live in her mine just to save on rent. And she wouldn’t tell Sparkling that crowds made her nervous.
It was a couple hours later. Ivory had successfully avoided being surrounded by unknown ponies. She’d sit at some table snacking on what was offered. There was plenty of hard cider so that took the edge off of her nerves. But she’d make sure that Sparkling was always in sight.
As Ivory watched her marefriend, her mind wandered to the image of her mine and she and Sparkling lounging in the hot spring.
‘The pool isn’t as hot as you, Sparkling,’ thought Ivory with a smile thinking of the lithe body of her lover.
Ivory’s thought were often interrupted several times some stallions and even a couple mares who had stopped by and struck up a conversation. Mostly business, but when they found out that she was in the gem industry and an escort of one of the attendees, they’d excuse themselves and go off to network.
One obnoxious stallion, which obviously had imbibed too much hard cider, was being overly insistent. He was one of those of the mindset that all mares were looking for anything they could get from any stallion due to the 10:1 ratio of mare to stallion.
Ivory was doing well with keeping her ire in check. That is until he grabbed her hand and insisted that she come with him. Ivory seized the stallion’s hand in an iron grip.
About an hour later, as Ivory was looking at some artwork on the walls, she overheard a couple stallions having a conversation.
“You see that mare in the red dress?” said the first in a familiar voice.
‘What the buck!’ thought Ivory.
“If she knows your wife, I’ll bet she wouldn’t be interested,” said the second.
Ivory was trying not to be indignant. Her first impulse was to go to the two and have a conversation with the first one. Her conversation would have his undivided attention due to her hand around the pony’s throat and holding him a foot above the ground. Especially hearing Sparkling being referred to as a ‘bitch’.
Ivory turned to look, it confirmed that it was the stallion who’d tried to come on to herself earlier. He’d been standing near but was now walking (unsteadily) in the direction of Sparkling. She knew she had to play it cool for Sparkling’s sake. But she wasn’t going to let the stallion, who’d probably drank too much, harass her marefriend. Especially after earlier.
“I should have guessed,” said Ivory quietly to herself. “Time to teach this ass a lesson…
Ivory style.”
“Yes,” said Sparkling, to a cider distributor, “the product is doing well this year. It was a very good crop of apples.”
Before the cider rep could say anything, a stallion walked up and grabbed Sparkling by the wrist.
“Excuse her,” said the stallion, pulling at Sparkling. “Come on honey, it’s time we get going.”
They walked out the door and into the car park only to be intercepted by Ivory.
“There you are, you little tramp!” said Ivory acting livid and loud. “I bloody well knew you’d be whoring around, again !”wife ?”
Neither mare knew how they kept from laughing.
“Oh Faust! Please don’t beat me again!” said Sparkling cowering, playing it for all it was worth.you were warned!” continued Ivory looking at the stallion.bitches DON’T want it. Especially from a poor excuse of a stallion like yourself.”
He was wrong.
“Most certainly,” said Ivory, “goodbye!”
Ivory drew back and released an uppercut that sent the stallion into the land of nod.
“Little tramp?
Unfaithful little bitch?
Whoring around?
What do you take me for?” Said Sparkling looking serious and hurt. But she broke out laughing. “I was even afraid. Remind me never to piss you off!”
The two kissed a quick kiss then Ivory recounted what the low life tried to pull with herself and then the conversation she’d overheard. Including the part that he wasn’t going to ask. And the bet he offered with his friend.
“Thanks for watching out for me Sweetie,” said Sparkling, giving Ivory another quick kiss. “So what do we do with him?”
Ivory just smiled as she hailed a cab.
Taking the stallion’s wallet, Ivory removed his cash and gave the wad to the cabbie, minus 100 bits.
“Take Casanova here as far as this will take him,” said Ivory. “Keep a good tip for yourself.”
The cabbie chuckled and she drove off.
“How do we know that there won’t be trouble because of this?” asked Ivory, only now realizing that there could be a legal issue.
The two laughed.
“Well, we better get back in there, Darlin’,” said Ivory.
Because…

Sparkling, I love you !”
“Well that took long enough!” laughed Sparkling. She saw Ivory a little let down by her reaction. “Ivory stop! I love you so much! Let’s go back in.”
They hugged again.
“I love you Sparkling.”
Ivory reached into a pocket and drew out a gold chain. Suspended from it was a pendant with a large ruby cut in the shape of an apple. The gold stem had two emeralds in the shape of leaves.

Tears were flowing from Sparkling’s eyes.
“Yes, Ivory,” said Sparkling, “oh Faust yes!”
Ivory put it around Sparkling’s neck and then kissed her a very deep and loving kiss. Then they went back to the party, hand in hand.
Once inside, they walked up to the friend of the pony they’d just put in the taxi.
“Here,” said Ivory, “your friend owed you this.”partner here that will have me on my back tonight,” said Sparkling. “Or maybe I’ll have her on hers.”
Then they kissed and they enjoyed the rest of the party together, often holding hands. Sparkling was happy to introduce Ivory as her partner and there appeared no ‘push back’ to this.
