She looked sad, most likely because she hurt our friend by yelling at her. “Sounds good Twi.” I smile and nuzzle her cheek. She smells good, and I have to force myself to pull away. “I'll go now.” With that, I trot outside and fly after AJ. You know that feeling when things are going great, and then something happens to just ruin it? That's kind of how I'm feeling right now. And AJ, I never had any clue about how she felt. Damn that mare. I mean, yea, I like her and all, but as a friend. She's just so stubborn at times. I see her trotting along back toward the market, where can see Applebloom tending the cart. Heh, always did like that Filly. She's as much a trouble maker as I was when I was that age. Landing a little ways away, I approach the cart and get a glare from AJ. “AJ?” Damn, there's that squeak again. “Whatcha want Rainbow Dash?” Yea, AJ is pissed. I hate hearing her call me by my name. “I... Can we talk someplace less public?” Man, I am so nervous right now. AJ shrugs. “Ya can talk right here. Ah ain't got nothin' t' hide.” Oh yea, sure you don't. You've been hiding your crush for me for who knows how long. “Listen, I...” Nervous... yea, I am so nervous right now. Well, not that it matters, I have to patch things up with my best friend. I watch Bloom hug AJ, then dash off to who knows where. “Now listen up Rainbow Dash. Yea, Ah been havin feelins for ya fer th' longest time. Yer mah best friend an' all that, but... Why Twilight?” I sigh, then start explaining what had happened, how I was helping Twi and one thing led to another and then to Rarity, and now AJ. AJ just stood there and listened, a passive expression on her face, though her eyes were still displaying her feelings. From anger, it changed to surprise, and then to... I dunno. Why is she looking at me like that? Like how Twilight was looking at me? Oh Ponyfeathers... Right, AJ has the hots for me and here I am telling her the thing with Twi was just a series of events. “So it was all just a misunderstanding?” AJ finally asked. “But how do ya feel about Twilight?” I don't really know now. Do I like her? Or is it more than just that? “She's our friend AJ. I mean, I like her and all that, but... I don't know. I'm confused. I think I might actually like her more than just as a friend.” I hate admitting weakness. A sigh escaped her lips and she tosses me an apple. “Well, As much as I like ya, even more than a friend, Ah ain't gonna stop ya from exploring this relationship thing with Twi. You treat her good, ya hear RD?” I stare at her for a moment. She's okay with me and Twi? She even called me RD. “I... Thank you AJ. I'll talk with Twi when I see her next.” “Ya do that, and ya tell her how ya really feel.” “That's the thing. I don't know how I feel. It happened to suddenly, and I've never looked at her like that before. I never looked at any mare like that before. I always though I'd find myself a really cool Pegasus stallion for myself, not a skinny little Unicorn mare.” “Ah gotta admit RD, Twi is really pretty. Don't ya go hurtin her none, ya hear?” “Loud and clear. Thanks for understanding AJ. You're an awesome friend.” I don't see her expression change, but I think I may have hurt her by 'friend-zoning' her. I just smile, and I fly away. May as well wash up before I stink up Ponyville with my earlier activities. … Ah, nothing beats a cloud to nap on... well, assuming I could nap. Stupid sexy Twilight. Seriously. Why can't I get her out of my mind? Her slender form, her soft coat, silky tail and mane. Those amazing eyes. Her soft lips... Whoops, hoof nearly slid between my legs, and out in the open. I don't need another Pegasus catching me clopping. Rolling over, I look down on Ponyville. I can see Twilight leaving the Boutique, Rarity right behind her. Why are they walking so close side my side? Why does my chest feel strange. I don't like seeing them walk side by side like that. Where are they heading anyway? The Library? Hang on. Why is Twilight taking Rarity to the library? Is she going to seduce Rare as well? Make it look like a 'little mistake while experimenting'? Is that what Twi did to me? I can feel the frown on my face. I don't like this feeling. I fly off the cloud, heading down. I have to know what's going on. I land outside and peak in the ground floor window and watch them descend into the basement. “You have got to be kidding me.” I whisper to myself before going around back so I can peek into the basement window. It's open so I can see and hear everything while staying hidden. I can hear them talking, but I can't make out the words. Hold on, they're cleaning up the basement? I'm Twi's assistant till Spike gets back from that Dragon Sleep thing. Why is she having Rarity help her? Am I jealous? They're just cleaning up the basement from Twi's last experiment. “So how do you feel about Rainbow?” Rarity? “I... I like her. I mean, I've always liked her, but I think I like her more now. I've never been intimate like that with anypony before.” Twilight is blushing. “I see. Well, far be it from me to stand in your way, but please, don't hurt her feelings. She acts tough and awesome, but she is still a mare.” Rarity, wise as always. “Though I do wish I had been helping you.” Say WHAT? “Rarity, I'm not going to be one of those mares who sleeps with all her friends. Dash and I, well, what we did, I don't know. It felt, special.” My chest isn't feeling all... tight? Yea, it's not tight anymore, hearing those words from Twilight. “So will you ask her?” Rare smiles as she starts sweeping the floor, that magic of hers manipulating three brooms and dust pans at the same time. “If she'll be my special somepony?” Twilight looked cute with that pink tint to her face. “Of course Darling.” “I... Busted, again, by Rarity... “Uh... hi?” “Dash?” Twilight blushes even redder. “How... How long... HEY! Don't walk away...” I walk around to the front of the tree and knock on the door. Sure, the library is public, but I don't know if Twi is mad at me or not. I watch the door open and come face to face with Twilight. I see Rarity walking up behind her. “I have some things I need taking care of.” Rare winks at me. My face feels warm. I know that feeling, I'm blushing again. With that, Rarity walks past me, her ever graceful trot. “Um, Dash? Why don't you come in?” Twilight is inviting me back in? Well, I guess we should talk about this. I enter and watch her close the door. “I'm sorry Twi... I... I hate myself right now. I saw you and Rarity, and I thought the worst, that you were going to take her into the basement and...” I can't talk anymore. Twilight just kissed me, well, not a long kiss, just a quick one. “I understand. Well, kinda.” Twi smiles her pretty smile and lays down on her favorite cushion. She magics over my cushion next to hers and pats it with one of her slender hooves. I sigh and lay next to her. “Dash, I guess you heard...” “Yes.” I can only smile and nuzzle her. “I heard, and if you want, I'll be your special somepony.” I watch her eyes light up. The light of the library catching her eyes, shining off her mane and horn. “You're beautiful.” “I'm cute. You're beautiful.” Wait, what? I'm not beautiful, am I? I mean, sure, I keep myself in top form, I have the most awesome cutie mark in the entire history of... of EVER, but I never thought of myself as beautiful. “Dash?” She nuzzles me. I blink. Was I just out of it? Wow. “Do... Do you think so?” I watch her nod and smile. It's an honest, gentle smile. “Of course. Your coat, your mane, your eyes... You. Everything about you is beautiful... except when you're being overly arrogant.” I chuckle. “I'm never arrogant. I'm awesome.” This time Twi is the one chuckling. “You are just so... awesome. Yea, so, um... what do special somponies do?” I think, and think, and draw a blank. “I dunno.” “I think I have some books on...” I stop her with a wing over her back. “Dash?” “I think we should do whatever we feel is right.” Where did that come from? “For starters, I think we should get to know each other better.” “Alright. I was born in Canterlot. My parents are 'mmph'.” I shut her up with a kiss. I love the feel of her lips on mine. Well, I loved the feel of her lips on other places too. Breaking the kiss, I guess I have to explain it too my friend. “That's not what I mean. I know where you're from. You've told us about your family. Heck, we met them at your the wedding, remember?” Twi's blush is so endearing. “Yea... sorry... Do you mean, get to know each other's likes, dislikes, dreams, passions... or get to know each other's bodies?” Whoa babies... darn wings going stiff with Twi's last line. “Uh... All the above?” How else could I answer. Twilight smiles. “I'll accept that answer.” She smiles, and starts talking. … Twilight's passions and dreams, never though I'd get to know her so well. She told me things she's never told anypony else, not even Princess Celestia. “So you want to live here in Ponyville, as the librarian, and with your most awesome friends in the whole of Equestria.” “Well, yes. I mean, I get to live in a library. What better place is there for me to live and study and go out to be with the best friends anypony could ever ask for. And the pay is pretty good too.” I chuckle. Twi is an Egghead, through and through. In turn, I tell her about my dreams beyond the Wonderbolts. “I do want to become a parent one day. Raise a family. That would be awesome. Always thought I'd be a mom.” “We can always adopt.” Twi says, but also frowns. “I never thought about being a mother. I just can't imagine taking care of a foal, especially in a library.” “Maybe you'll be lucky and you'll find a home, a real home away from the library. You can work here, and expand the library to upstairs as well.” “I can't do that. I mean, this place is my home. I don't know if I really ever want too leave it.” I can't blame Twi. She lives to learn and study magic, to spend time with us, her friends. I can only hope that Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie will understand. Oh well, I think I just saw a soft pink mane walk past the window. “One sec Twi.” I get up and approach the door, hearing the soft knock that I know Twi had missed. Opening it, I see Fluttershy. “Hiya Fluttershy. Welcome to Books and Branches Library.” “Oh! Um, hello Rainbow. Um...” She is just so adorable. Always has been, and most likely, always will be. “Come on in. How can we help you?” “I was just returning this book I borrowed and wondered if I could borrow the next one.” She pulls a book from her saddlebag. I look at it and smile. “A romance novel? Hmm, let's see.” I take the book and place it on the returns shelf to be sorted later. “Did you enjoy it?” Can't believe I'm asking that. “Oh yes. It was a wonderful story of adventure and danger and romance.” She smiles her cute smile as I find the book she wants. I help her sign the book out and watch her start to leave after thanking me. She then stops and looks over at Twilight, who was sitting and reading a book this whole time. When did she even grab that book... Oh, right...magic. She can float things around. Fluttershy is looking at Twilight, and at the two cushions, right next to each other. “Um... Is everything alright here?” Twi looks up and smiles. “Of course it is Fluttershy. Dash and I were just talking.” This seemed to be the right answer for our shy little supermodel. “May I ask, what were you talking about?” Oh come on Shy... I was having a nice chat with Twilight. Shame really, she IS my oldest friend. “So do you understand?” I listen to Twilight explain things to the now fully pink Pegasus. “Um, well...” Shy whimpers. “You and Rainbow are... together.” She smiles at us shyly. “Are you happy?” Twilight looks at me and smiles. “Yea, I am.” “Me too Shy. Honestly, I've never been happier than now.” I return Twi's smile. I like this warm feeling. I have no idea what it is, but I like it. “Then that's all that matters.” Fluttershy said, while still blushing a shade of pink that could put Pinkie to shame, and smiles at us. I knew she'd understand. “But I do have a question.” Twilight fielded this one before I could open my mouth. Knowing me, I'd just put my hoof in it. “What would you like to know Fluttershy?” Twilight asks softly. Ooh, she had such a cute and sexy voice. I'm still wondering how I never noticed it before. “Do you intend to, you know... meep.” And there you go, Fluttershy's famous little meep and hiding her face in her mane. I hadn't even thought much about what Twi and I are really going to do with our relationship. Heck, all we've done was have sex once, kissed a few times, snuggled and talked for a little bit. “That is… if you really want too.” I hear Flutters say before I manage to get my jaw relocated. “Hold on Shy, we just got together. We have lots we need to talk about before even thinking about that… Right Twi?” I watch Twilight nod open her mouth to speak. The curve of her jaw and movement of her soft lips… I just wanna kiss her right now. Not a good idea as that may traumatize Flutters. “Dashie is right Fluttershy. I mean, we both realized, we do love each other, but marriage is something we will have to talk to each other about and even then, we have to realize everything about our feelings for each other.” Flutters blushing is so cute. I just wanna hug her, a friendly hug, not that kind. Anyway, I stand up and stretch my wings. “Say Twi, how about you finish up chatting with Shy while I go get us something to eat.” I flash a sultry smile at her, hoping Flutters misses it. Nope, from her expression, she saw it and understood that I want some lone time with my lover. “Oh, don’t worry about me. I’m just happy that the two of you are happy.” She stands up as well, and I watch as MY stupid sexy Twilight gets up too, giving me a flash of her treasure that’s normally hidden by her silky tail. “Thank you Fluttershy.” Twilight nuzzles her, and I’m alright with that. It’s a gesture of friendship after all. “We’ll catch up with you another time.” “Yup, cya later Shy.” I add as I open the door for my marefriend. It feels funny, thinking of Twi as that, but at the same time, it feels just so right. After we leave, we walk side by side, Twilight and I. We just walk, enjoying the warm air and the bright sun. By Celestia it’s a perfect day. I can feel my wings itching and twitch occasionally. “Dashie?” I turn my head and look into those clear amethyst eyes. They’re so beautiful and… “You want to stretch your wings, don’t you?” I blink. “Uh… Nah, I’m good.” Okay, maybe not as my wings twitch some more. Twilight is watching me, a soft smile on her lips. I can’t lie to her or ignore my own desire to feel the wind through my mane. “Yea, kinda itching for it right now.” “Go ahead. I’ll prepare lunch for us back at the library.” She nuzzles me, and I breath in her simple, yet wonderful scent. Without another word, I take to the sky and stretch my wings. As much as I love Twi, I love flying too. Do I love it more? The same? I doubt I can love flying less than her. I live to fly, but now I have her in my life in a way I never did before. I just hope my desire for the sky and my love for her never conflict. I'd hate to get into a fight with her. As I fly wild and fast, my thoughts don't leave that wonderful mare. I really should be concentrating on my flying. Time and again, usually between aerial tricks, I think of almost nothing other than Twi. How can I not? She's beautiful and smart and powerful. Between tricks and thoughts of the delightful love of my life, I try to focus on what tricks I want to do. I pull a tight, high speed wing-over maneuver and she suddenly returns to my thoughts again. Kind, honest, generous, loyal and able to make me smile and laugh. She certainly has displayed traits from all of us bearers of the Elements. I just can't get her out of my mind at all. Hmm, I feel something is off. The wind feels wrong.
