Case "Sour" Sweet - 3 'Indigo'
Snapping out of your stupor you gave Twilight a call.
"Hello?"
"It's me,"
"Oh! Detective... I... take it Indigo gave you a ring?"
"Yeah, uh, do you know what Sugarcoat's number is?"
"Why? Did, Indigo give you a case concerning-"
"No, Sugarcoat gave me a case concerning Sour Sweet,"
"Sour Sweet? What's wrong with her?"
"She's been hiding something from everyone and her friends wanted me to get her to crack. So far all I've got are a few stories and three theories, but barely any of the evidence I've got lined up to the original three stories Sugarcoat gave me, I'm going to give her a ring to see if she doesn't have any more info I could work off of, so, you think you could help me out?"
"I... suppose I could. Anything to help,"
"Thanks. And... I'm... I'm so sorry for shooting you-"
"It's MY fault detective, I did a stupid thing and frightened you while you were armed, I should've known better than to do that but my curiosity overtook my common sense,"
"Well, still, what's her number?" You asked pulling out a pen and paper. Twilight then gave you Sugarcoat's cellphone number as well as Sour Sweet's, you said your goodbyes and hung up to give Sugarcoat a call, but soon heard a knocking at your door, "I'm busy," you said, but the knocking happened again, "I said I'm busy, come back later," knocking once again. You grunted and cracked the door to tell whoever it was to come back later, only to be sprayed with something that sent you into a coughing frenzy. You passed out eventually and wouldn't reawaken for some time only to find yourself tied down to a wooden chair, "Awwww, damn it. Not this shit again..." You groaned in annoyance. But as you looked around, you found yourself in the last place you ever wanted to be. The Everfree Forest.
"It's about time you woke up," came a very familiar voice.
From behind a tree came Indigo Zapp, wearing an all too familiar outfit.
"What are doing wearing that..." You panicked.
"Just thought I'd put on a little something nostalgic before this fateful meet up,"
"Fateful meetup?! You kidnapped me!"
"Kidnapped is such a strong word, detective. I prefer more along the lines of forceful relocation,"
"Why did you do this?! I'm just trying to solve a mystery!"
"Because, detective, you're not done solving my mystery,"
"What are you talking about?! You gave me your explanation for what happened! I already solved the mystery!"
"Did you really solve it, or did you do so because you don't like leaving things unfinished?" Indigo said as she walked over to you and walked in a circle around your spot, "Did you really think a faceless creature in a suit was a good answer? Did you believe it because of what happened to Twilight during the Friendship Games? Or do you secretly kick yourself at night for believing in such a fairy tale?"
"What other explanation could there possibly be?! My parents never found the bodies when I filed in my report to them and the authorities!"
"Just like with Lightning Dust?"
You fell silent, looking on in horror at a name you wished you had never heard again.
"Do you want to know what happened to Lightning Dust?"
"What did you do..." You growled.
"I ate her liver, with some fava beans and a nice Chianti,"
"THAT WAS MY GIRLFRIEND YOU BITCH!!!" You cried out in anger, "WHY DID YOU DO IT?!!?"
"Quite simply because of the fact we both can't exist in the same place at the same time. We were so alike one could easily mistake one for the other, so one of us had to go,"
"You killed the woman I loved you whore!" You growled.
"There's that insanity I was talking about," Indigo went, "You're close to just going over the edge, aren't you? Did I strike a nerve?"
"Strike a nerve?! I'll show you a nerve when I break lose of these binds!" You shouted as you struggled to free yourself. However, you stopped the second you felt a knife on your cheek.
"I wouldn't recommend struggling you know," Indigo said before taking the knife off, "I'm still a bit itchy from when I went feral."
"What really happened to your parents? You ate them didn't you?!"
"Survival of the fittest. One must eat to survive, after all, once you get the taste of human flesh, it becomes a hard taste to be rid of,"
"And it all started with eating my girlfriend you son of a bitch?!"
"Actually, far earlier than that. Let's say, fifth grade?"
"I've had my eyes on Lightning Dust for years now. We've been rivals for well over many millennia, our similarities put to the test as our struggles always ended up in ties, but I got a leg up when I discovered a taste of human flesh. It was an eighth-grade field trip to Camp Everfree, and I got stuck in the nearby caves with another camper. We never told anyone where we were going because we had snuck off in the middle of the night to go on a little adventure when something glowing in the cave caught our attention and like the kids we were, we went towards the shiny thing. The cave collapsed on us, and within only a matter of a few days, we were getting hungry. My buddy had fallen asleep, but I just couldn't, how could I? I thought for sure my family would never see me again. I knew what I had to. I took the heaviest rock I could pick up and bludgeoned him to death with it. I ate what remains I could, and the next day after, I was rescued only to be put in a mental hospital,"
"Those files..."
"I tried to live a normal life, I really did. But the taste of flesh was so tantalizing, it just stayed in my mind for many years. Once mine and Lightning Dusts's rivalry reached its peak in Crystal Prep, I knew then what I was going to do. I killed her, and ate her liver just like how I said I did,"
"Yeah, and you killed her when I was dating her you son of a bitch!"
"Nothing more than just a minor setback. It was at the cost of your sanity, but it was well worth it, for now, she's out of the way and I don't have to worry about her ever again,"
"Why did you kidnap me? Just to open up an old wound?!"
"Actually, it's because of something else. Related to your case on Sour Sweet,"
"If that's all you brought me here for, why'd ya go a say all that shit for?!"
"Because, detective, Sour Sweet's disappeared from her home,"
"What?!" You exclaim with wide eyes.
"I went to visit her a little after contacting you but saw signs of a struggle all over her room. I rode my motorcycle down to your office and suddenly had an epiphany. You'd never come with me willingly, so I did what I had to. While you were out cold, I kept thinking to myself, they don't know the truth, do they? They still think it was the fairy tale that made me kill my parents. Maybe it's time to let them in on the secret,"
"And just what makes you think I won't report you to the authorities after this?!"
"Try it, and I'll get to see how your family's livers taste,"
You instantly shut up and looked down in horror.
"That's what I thought," Indigo smirked.
"Alright, fine... take me to the scene,"
"I knew we'd see eye to eye. Just don't try anything funny, or it's your liver I'll be eating next,"
You gulped in fear as Indigo cut you loose. Stretching out a little you followed the insane cannibal to her motorcycle and held on to her as she drove at fast speeds past and in between cars. Soon enough you and Indigo arrived at Sour Sweet's house where you proceeded to go up to her room by yourself and indeed saw signs of what looked to be a struggle. Closing and locking the door behind you, you knew it was time to start investigating the area.
You first took out your camera and photographed the area very carefully, once you were done and put away your camera you took out a pair of rubber gloves and surgical mask for protection against any kind of bacteria floating in the air from shatter debris. You carefully moved across the room with ample precision in an attempt to not sully the scene, you noticed and examined multiple flipped furniture from a broken bean bag, the bed mattress laying on the floor, the closet's clothing rack being torn down, the more you examined the less it looked like a struggle and more so an act of rage. You then went into the bathroom where the shower was running non-stop, the medicine cabinet was open with empty bottles or nearly empty ones, some pills aligned the floors and sink, someone was on a rampage.
Among the bottles, you noticed, were estrogen, progesterone, and anti-androgen, medicines that are usually commonly associated with Male to Female Transgenders. But, that should be possible, you didn't see any photos of Sour Sweet as a guy down in the main foyer or the staircase as you walked by the family photos. Something didn't add up. It was almost like as if they were either planted here or she was just recently taking them. Out the window, you saw Sour Sweet and her parents coming out of a vehicle. Sour Sweet looked to be crying and her parents were trying to comfort her. This was your chance, you had to strike while the iron was hot. You rushed downstairs as fast as you could, sat down in the revolving rocket chair and waited for them to come inside.
The sound of a door opening caught your ears.
"Sour Sweet, please, just don't do this again," you heard her father say.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Sweet," You said catching the attention of the family and swinging around in the chair to meet them face to face, "I'm the teen detective from Crystal Prep. We need to talk about your daughter."
