Son of the Solar Princess
Today was just a normal day in the kingdom of Equestria. Twilight and her friends were teaching all their students at the School of Friendship, as well as managing their other daily tasks. Celestia's professors were teaching unicorns their magic. Flim and Flam were coming up with new get rich quick schemes. Starswirl and his fellow Pillars were roaming across Equestria, telling tales of the past long forgotten. Luna was taking her rest. Everything was just normal routine.
But if anypony was really paying attention, they would be able to see that Celestia was feeling down. She was going through her normal routine of day court, listening to ideas and complaints her subjects put forth. Everything from trying to keep rain clouds away from the city to trying to provide schemes into having the Apple Family give up their secrets to how Zap Apple Cider was brewed. And Celestia was of course always prepared to provide answers, even if her subjects were not satisfied with said answer.
But as the day went on, there were pony families who came to visit, and had little baby foals with them. Many cute little foals she herself wished she could spoil with affection, but being the leader of a nation, and no close relation to these pony families, she knew she had to hold her composure. But she longed for a foal of her own. And though it might be a bit of favoritism on her part, she wanted a unicorn foal to raise. And she didn't want a unicorn foal because she thought unicorns were superior, she thought all pony races had equality. She merely wanted to teach the little one how to use their magic, like she had Twilight when she was a little filly.
As Day court came to an end, and Celestia finished her classes with the unicorn students, as well as her lunch, she made her way out of the castle with an escort of the Royal Guards, and of course, was always announced when she was leaving the castle grounds. As she made her way through the streets of Canterlot, she remembered to smile and wave, and her heart melted when she saw mothers helping their little foals wave to the princess, and their adorable little smiles would make a lesser mare faint from the cuteness attack.
Then, she felt opportunity knocked. She came upon one of the Canterlot orphanages established throughout the city. She had donated a good portion of bits to ensure these establishments across Equestria were well maintained and had the kindest staff members taking care of the rambunctious little ones. She figured she should pay this place a visit. It wasn't unheard of, and no one would question why she was doing it. Most would think it noble of Celestia to take some time out of her day to let these fillies and colts have a chance to meet their Princess of Day. Course Luna would have to find a way some time later to one up her older sister, but it mattered not to Celestia.
She soon entered the building, and was greeted by a unicorn mare with pink fur and a sky blue mane. "Good afternoon your majesty. We are honored to be given your presence here today," the mare said.
"Good afternoon to you as well My Little Pony. I hope the day is treating you well. How are the little fillies and colts fairing here today?" Celestia inquired.
"Oh they're doing fine. Most of the toddlers and babies are down for their afternoon nap. We do have a couple of our older colts in bed with the cold, and most of the others are playing in the play area having fun with each other. Course, if any misbehave we'll have them in timeout," The mare answered with confidence.
She showed Celestia to the play area where all the fillies and colts still awake were having fun playing all sorts of things, with caretakers keeping their eyes on them to spot any troublemakers or little ones who may have hurt themselves playing. Celestia smiled. Most of the time, when older fillies and colts were in her presence, they were keeping a composure in front of her, most likely because their parents told them to. Here, the children were just being children, and didn't pay Celestia any mind. And it bothered her none. She knew how playful she used to be with her sister when they were these fillies and colts' ages, even if that was well over 1000 years ago. She could see ponies of all different races here. Well, aside from Alicorn of cource, since only five were known to exist at this time, including herself. But she did see another rare breed who were a cousin branch to pegasi known as Bat Ponies.
Finally, she figured she'd ask the head mare of the establishment she was standing beside, "I know many parents are looking for a chance to take one of these ponies under their wing, but I am curious. Would you happen to have a baby Unicorn among this tiny herd?"
The mare looked at her and was a tad surprised the Princess was asking about this, but all the same, who was she to judge? Every mare, including royalty, deserved a chance to raise a foal in need of love. The mare sighed, "Unfortunately, all unicorns in our establishment are of the group of children you see playing. Most of the babies and toddlers we have napping are Earth Pony, and some are Pegasi, but no Unicorns. My apologies your majesty."
"You have nothing to apologize for My Little Pony. There is no need to feel guilty about anything. What you do here for these ponies right now is a great thing. As long as the little ones are happy here up to the point they are adopted, You'll know you've been doing things right," Celestia stated.
"You're right your highness. And it puts a smile on my face to see all these little ones happy, even if I feel saddened they have to leave when new parents come to adopt," the mare answered.
"You wouldn't be a pony if you didn't feel a little hurt at their departure dear," Celestia assured her, knowing all too well how much in pained her to send Twilight away to Ponyville when she did.
After their conversation, Celestia walked into the play room to let the little colts and fillies interact with her, so they could have bragging rights at school, that they got to meet and talk with the Princess of Day. Afterwards, Celestia made her way to the other esablishments around Canterlot, and every time she asked her question about a Baby unicorn, she was sadly met with the same answer. It was now fast approaching the time Celestia had to set her sun, and Luna had to raise her Moon, so, trying to send letters to other Orphanages outside of Canterlot would have to wait another day. Celestia had told her sister of her longing for a Unicorn foal to care for at dinner, and Luna assured her that one day, she would get her chance. Even if she had to wait a century to do so. But Celestia didn't want to wait another century. She wished to care for a foal now. After the raising and setting of their respected parts of the heavens, and Luna taking off to help ponies with their dreams and nightmares, Celestia decided to take a stroll through the Canterlot Gardens.
She saw many of the statues stand about, like the one of the legendary alicorns, Bonnie Zacherle and Lauren Faust, the fabled creators of their world. Of course Celestia and Luna knew the two were more than just myth. And there was also a statue of Ember, a mare from millennia ago who was a good friend to her and Luna, and had risen to her own greatness through her life. Then there was the remnants of what used to be the pedestal of Discord's imprisonment.
She felt Discord had come a long way since when she first met him over 1000 years ago. She wished Tirek would have followed in Discord's hoofsteps, but sadly, Tirek was too magic hungry to search for other means to improve his own magic that didn't involve stripping Equestrians of their magic.
As she passed the statue set of Starswirl The Bearded and his fellow Pillars of Light, she heard a soft whimper. She stopped and listened for the whimper to happen again, and when it did, she located the source of the noise. She had expected to have found a lost puppy, but what she found, she couldn't believe her eyes. There, near the Statue of Somnambula was a little unicorn foal. He was no older than a newborn. His fur was of a dark blue that resembled her little sister. His mane and tail, however, were of a fiery blonde hue. Celestia looked around to see if any other mares were in the vicinity, but not even the mares of her Royal Guard were in the Canterlot Gardens. How could this cute little foal have been left out here, all by it's lonesome. When the little colt's eyes met with Celestia's, Celestia felt her heart skip a beat. Just one look at those cute little eyes, and her mind was set. She gently picked the little foal up in her magic so not to startle him, and placed him in the embrace of her foreleg. Then she spread her wings, and launched herself to her room balcony. Once she was inside, she placed a sound barrier in the room, to prevent anyone hearing her or the little foal from outside the room. She then gently set the little foal on her bed which was big enough to hold her and at least 15 other full grown ponies on it. And she even used her pillows to make a makeshift barrier to prevent to tiny colt from falling.
As he lay on her bed. Celestia was rummaging through one of her drawers. And she finally found them. A set of fit-all-sized diapers she had had stored for ages, and some foal powder to prevent rashes. She hadn't told anypony about this stash, since they had been for Twilight, when she was still a filly. Only she and Twilight's family, including Cadence, knew Twilight had night-time wettings, so these had been kept around when Twilight spent nights in Celestia's chambers when she sometimes got carried away with her studies and fell asleep in Tia's chambers. She then made her way over to the little colt, who, by some miracle had not wet her bed without proper protection on him. Celestia carefully set the little foal on his back, thankfully all that time she had spent with Flurry Heart, and giving her changes had paid off for this moment.
Soon the tiny colt was all padded up. "There we go little one. All ready to go. You are an adorable little mystery aren't you. How did you find your way into my royal garden?" Celestia asked rhetorically.
The baby colt babbled as if he was trying to tell her his story of how he got there. "Really? What happened next?" Celestia played along with the little one.
The foal continued to babble while flailing his hooves around, as if expressing the days events in great detail. "Wow, that's quite a story," Celestia humored the baby.
The tiny foal put his hooves over his eyes and face, blushing a bit, and cooing. Celestia just smiled and nuzzled him. "Well, I have no idea how you got here dear, but I feel I need to give you a name while you stay with me..... How about......... Solar Flare?"
The unicorn foal cheered in joy at the name, telling Celestia he approved. She chuckled, then she heard a noise that almost sounded like thunder. But it didn't come from outside. It came from the little foal laying in front of her. "It would appear somepony didn't have their dinner," Celestia stated as she layed on the bed with the little colt.
Now, Celestia knew she couldn't outright leave the chambers with this little bundle in her hooves. She'd be putting the castle in a state of confusion, since one, she never stated she was with foal before hoof, and two, she had no mate she had come forth about to have produced offspring. And this foal was far too young to eat baby food like Flurry Heart. And Celestia didn't believe in that forumla some parents used as a substitute for their foals. But Celestia thankfully had prepared for this, for she had taught this spell to Cadence long before Flurry's conception, should Cadence have decided to go the adoption route of a newborn foal, like she herself was trying, so she would be able to produce mother's milk for the little one.
Soon Celestia cast said spell on herself, and in no time at all, Celestia's teats had grown in size, filled with milk. She soon situated herself, and magically guided the tiny charge in her care over to her teats. Solar Flare showed no hesitation as he latched on and began his suckling motions. The sensation felt odd for Celestia, since this was her first time attempting this, but she was relieved it didn't hurt as Solar Flare made happy whimpers as he continued to have his meal.
Celestia only smiled and soon covered him up with her wing to give him a sense of protection and privacy. She then was deep in thought. She'd of course have to let some pony know, but only ponies she could trust with a secret. Her mind was made up. Solar Flare would be her son, no matter what others tried to say otherwise. Nurse Gentle Heart, sister of Nurse Red Heart in Ponyville was one of her and Luna's personal nurses, and could be trusted with something like this secret. And of course Luna, no matter how much she could do, to give her sister privacy, eventually would discover Celestia's secret, most likely through the dream realm, so she'd be let in on the secret, which she knew her sister may use as blackmail. Cadence was a must, since, one, she'd be furious if Celestia kept such a secret from her, and two, Flurry needed a future playmate that wasn't going to be used as paparazzi bate by other parents wanting to brag their little one made friends with baby royalty, not that all did that, but many did.
Celestia made a list of ponies who needed to be in the loop about her secret adoption, until everything was set in order to properly announce his adoption to the public. She needed to ensure that there was no parents that had "somehow" lost their little foal with the same exact description as Solar Flare. Surely, if he still had parents, there was no doubt a report for a missing foal had been filed, so until she was certain no pony would find a loop hole to rob her of a chance to be a mother, she needed to keep Solar Flare's adoption by her a secret.
Soon, Solar Flare finished his dinner, and Tia, like she had done many times with Flurry, placed him on her shoulder, and burped him. Once he was relieved of his gas, he curled up in Celestia's embrace, and fell asleep soundly. Celestia gently nuzzled him and set him by her side, encircling him with her body, and placing a wing over him to help keep him warm and cozy, as she pulled a light blanket over both of them. She too soon entered dreamland with her tiny charge, Solar Flare. Hopefully Luna wouldn't be in an uproar, should she visit Celestia in her dreams.

Son of the Solar Princess
Who Can Resist Adorable Foals
It had been 3 days since Celestia's secret adoption of Solar Flare. When Luna visited her in the dream realm, and heard of her sister's actions, she payed a visit to Celestia the following morning, and her heart melted at the sight of her new nephew. Solar Flare's playful nature would have caused a lesser mare to have fainted from the adorableness he displayed.
For the past three days, both sisters dug through any documents of a missing foal, and every adoption center that might have misplaced the foal's file, and they even poured through the archives of all ponies born in Equestria, that had been recorded so far. But Solar Flare's file came up empty. She knew of course that he would be under another name if she had found one, but not a single document had records of a foal that matched Solar Flare's physical description of dark blue fur, firey blond mane and sky blue eyes. This led Celestia to the conclusion that the foal had not been recorded as a citizen yet by his birth mother, who ever she had been, and this also made Celestia feel a bit angered. She felt for sure, the mare that had mothered this colt had abandoned him, and not wanted him at all.
Well, with that thought, she now knew that was one problem solved, but she and Luna were now looking through every document they could find to see if some law was going to try and keep them from letting Celestia adopt Solar Flare. "Sister, I understand that you want to keep this whole thing a secret about your new little charge, but the more we delay an actual announcement of adoption, the greater risk we take of some noble finding out, and using his secret adoption against us," Luna advised.
"I know sister, but I don't want to be caught by any surprises that those nobles may use to their advantage, should they call forth a meeting to argue against my son's adoption. And I will not be upstarted by Blue Blood either about this. You know how he gets," Celestia stated.
"All too well. Still don't understand how you haven't banished him from castle grounds yet," Luna joked.
"He's been very careful not to lose his composure in front of others. I'm just gonna need a lucky break on that," Celestia joked back.
"Well, on an unrelated note. Perhaps we should call in Spike. I know that, with how much Twilight herself studied, I caught Spike looking over a lot of laws and rules in his spare time when he was here. Probably picked that up from Tiwlight, with something that interested him," Luna suggested.
"You know, that's actually not such a bad idea. We could use another hoof, or in Spike's case, a claw, with helping us with all of this. Plus, I am very sure that Twilight and her friends would be head over hooves to meet my little charge," Celestia considered.
"Pinkie Pie might be the hardest to keep tight lipped. Perhaps, we should tell her to throw a surprise adoption party, that must be prepared, but held off til this whole adoption thing is squared away. That will certainly keep her from telling ponies. And Discord. Don't you dare tell a soul about this," Luna warned.
Celestia and her looked over to see a plush doll in the shape of a chaoticly colored pony. Soon a light flashed and Discord revealed himself, "Doh! How'd you know it was me?"
"You're color scheme is only unique to you Discord. You're gonna need to work on that when transforming into inanimate objects like a plush doll," Celestia stated.
"Ah, noted," Discord smiled.
"Do we have your word you won't breath a word to the public about this Discord?" Luna asked.
"Trust me. I learned from the last nightmare you gave not to reveal surprises. And even I wouldn't want to deny Celestia a chance at motherhood. Not that she hasn't been a motherly figure for some time mind you. I mean, look at Twilight. You're like a second mother to her. And don't get me started on Spike," Discord claimed.
"Well, thank you," Celestia said.
"Besides, even if some noble did try to find something to get the upper hoof, I have some sources that would ensure I found out about it to keep them from using their advantage," Discord stated.
He then whispered something to both, so that unwanted ears that might be listening in, didn't know what he said. "Oh, that's quite devious, but fitting at the same time," Luna agreed.
"Well, while we continue to look through these documents, I'll send this letter off now," Celestia said, as she rolled up a parchment she'd been writing. One to Twilight and another Cadenece and Shining Armor.
She knew Cadence would never let her live it down, if Cadence was not informed soon of a new foal to sit for and Flurry to play with. Just as she was about to take another parchment of past laws and regulations, she, Luna and Discord heard Solar Flare begin to fuss. thankfull, no one outside the Solar chambers could hear it, thanks to Celestia's sound proof spell. "Oh, my, it would appear my little one needs his second breakfast. Becoming a new prince can be hungry work," Celestia joked.
The Princesses and Lord of Chaos had a laugh, and Luna stated, "Go on big sister. We'll continue to look through while you spend time with your son. We'll let you know if we find anything."
Celestia nodded, and picked up Solar Flare, soon laying him down next to her, so he could nurse. She had a feeling she would have great news come her way with this. And just watched motherly as her little charge nursed to his hearts content. As Solar Flare was halfway through his nursing session which took a good long while, Celestia heard a knock on the door, she covered her wing to hide Solar, and called, "Enter."
One of her mare guards opened the door, and said, "Pardon me you majesties, The Council of Friendship, and the Prince and Princesses of the Crystal Empire are here to see you."
"Very well, send them in," Luna ordered.
The guard bowed, and let the herd of friendship and love come in. As Celestia closed the door behind them, Cadence couldn't hold back her excitement, "Okay, where's this adorable little colt you mentioned? I wanna see him, and I think Flurry does too."
Flurry merely babbled her baby babble, but her motions showed she wanted to see her new, well, cousin. Celestia could see all the mares, and the boys waiting in anticipation for Celestia to reveal her son to them, so she gently lifted her wing away, so not to spook her son, who had fallen asleep again, still nursing. "Awwwwww," the whole group said together as they saw the little unicorn foal.
"His name is Solar Flare. I found him in the Gardens near the statues. We couldn't find any record of him, nor could we trace down any sign of his mother. She's long gone," Celestia stated, before nuzzling her charge and bring him to her shoulder to burp him as he slept.
"I'm appalled that such mares roam the streets. Havin a foal is a great gift to any mare. Look at the Cake Family," Applejack stated.
"It's completely uncouth for a mother to do such a thing," Rarity bellowed.
Celestia was thankful her sound barrier was up, or this bantering of the unknown mother's actions would have raised curiosity of passers by. "But in any case. When I heard of this little foal, my creative mind just couldn't be halted and, while we had been on the train, I made him a cute little set of pajamas. Not knowing what size he was, I used a fabric that is meant to fit any pony relative to the typical size of newborns, but is also some of the most comfortable," Rarity informed them.
She dug into her saddle bag and pulled out a pajama outfit that was of sky blue, and had depictions of the sun all over it. "Oh Rarity, it is adorable. How much would you like for the outfit my dear?" Celestia asked, wanting so much to see her little charge in it.
"Oh, perish the thought your majesty. It's a gift for the cute little one," Rarity stated, before they heard a large burp.
"Wow, that guy sure has a set of lungs to burp like that. Will be useful for him if he wants to be a Royal Guard, giving him endurance. I should know, since my Brother is one," Rainbow Dash said.
"Ah yes, Rainbow Blaze. He's been a fine guard so far. Been trying to convince him to do a Sonic Rainboom for the guards, but he's very noble in stating he doesn't want to steal your thunder, even if he knew if he could do it," Celestia stated.
"Are you kidding. I've been trying to get him to do the Sonic Rainboom myself. Need to find a new way to convince him though," Rainbow Dash stated.
"Ooooooh, I hope it's announced soon enough that Solar was adopted by you Celestia. I'm so nervacited about his adoption party," Pinkie admitted.
"I know. We're trying our best to have this done quick so that I can offically, and publically adopt him," Celestia said.
"Perhaps I should gather some of my animal friends to help with his ceremony," Fluttershy suggested.
"Oh, would you Fluttershy? That would make the announcement all the more adorable," Celestia admitted.
"Well, I can definitely see a competitor for top student of your magic classes that may top me...... at least in adorableness," Twilight joked.
"Well, in magic too. I sense a lot of magic potential in this little colt when I was first alerted to what Celestia did," Discord pointed out.
"Oooh, sounds like you and Starlight might get a sparring partner in the future," Cadence teased.
Twilight blushed, knowing the little colt my be as powerful as her given time, made her think she might have to take up mentoring him herself, just to see his adorable face more. "Well, what's the hold up on adopting him, if you don't mind me asking?" Spike inquired.
"Well, we're trying to look through every law that was ever made, to make sure we didn't miss something that may prevent us from adopting my little Solar Flare publicly," Celestia answered.
"Oh, I can tell you right now, there's nothing that can stop that. Not even the nobles can put it to vote to be against it. I've read every law there is," Spike admitted.
"Seriously, ever single one," Shining stated.
"Huh, I thought reading was more of Twilight's thing," Rainbow Dash chimed in.
"In general reading, yeah, but I picked up a hobby of looking through laws. Realized it could play to my advantage, should some pony use my Dragon heritage against me," Spike stated.
"Smart move," Celestia stated.
"I'm still trying to find some law that states that my annual gobbling of foals is no longer needed. Had to use a plush version of my Nightmare Moon form to fool the masses I was still doing it," Luna teased.
Everyone laughed. "Well, I'm glad to hear that, but we still need to tread carefully for right now. We take this too fast, and there could be repercussions," Celestia stated.
Everypony nodded, now relieved a major hurtle had been dealt with. Just then Solar Flare awoke, and saw new ponies staring at him. When he saw Cadence, he reached for her, trying to boop her nose. Everyone just smiled, watching him be playful.
