The same day.Royal Canterlot Police Detective Sergeant Lonny Williams and his partner/brother in law,Detective Big Macintosh Apple were in the barn.The chores were already done,so Lonny and Big Mac were in shorts,R.C.P.D.T-shirts and tennis shoes.They were in training for the upcoming "Equestria Police and Fire Games".Police and fire depatments from all over Equestria as well as the competitors families,and spectators were going to descend on Ponyville,the sight of this years games.Big Mac was training for the powerlifting competition.Lonny was training for the 100 yard dash foot/hoof race.They were going to not only to try and win medals,as well as bragging rights.but the event was to raise money for various charities.They're in the barn at their home at "Sweet Apple Acres"Lonny's wife Applejack.His little Sister in law Applebloom and Granny Smith.were watching the boys train.Their good friend Rainbow Dash was also there.helping with the training,since the cyan pegasus was also a natural athlete.

Lonny was helping Big Mac who could already powerlift 300 pounds.Now was trying to get to 350 pounds.The big red earth pony was straining to lift the weights,Lonny said,"OK.Bro.You got this.You got this.You can do it.I know you can.We all believe in you."Big Mac then lifted the heavyweights high above his head.Then dropped it to the ground.Big Mac shouted,"EYUP!!"And he and Lonny high fived each other.THe red earth pony then sat down on some hay bales and drank water from a bottle and poured some on his head.

Applejack said,"Whowee.Big Mac.Ya sure lifted them weights pretty good."

Lonny said,"Yeah Bro.You're gonna bring the gold home,this year."

Big Mac replied,"Eyup,jis like yer gonna bring home the gold in the 100 yard dash."

Lonny replied,"You know I will."

Applebloom then asked,"So.Lonny.What are ya gonna do with the money ya raise??"

Lonny replied,"It's already pledged to the orphanage in Vanhoover,where my mom and dad adopted me from."

Applebloom said,"Well Ahh think thats awful nice of ya Lonny."

Applejack then said,"Yep.He's always been there to help em out.Ever since his ma and pa told him he was adopted."

Rainbow Dash then said,"OK.OK.Can we get back to training.Tha's if Lonny wants to win the gold,"

Lonny replied,"Allright Rainbow Dash.About a raceOn foot.No wings.??"

Rainbow Dash,never resisting a challenge answered,"OK Hot shot.Show me what you got."

As Lonny and Rainbow Dash got into the starting position.Applejack said,"On yer mark.Git set."

Then the phone in the barn rang.Applejack answered it.Lonny said,"Well thats typical."

Applejack said,"Hello.Sweet Apple Acres......Yep.....He's right here.....Ah'll git him."The she look at Lonny and said,"Hun.Phone.Ah think it's work."

Lonny answered the phone and said,"Williams."The call was from Sergeant Jerry Coogan at Ponyville Barracks.Lonny continued,"Yeah Coogan.......What??......When???.....Are you pulling my leg Coogan??.....M.E. and The lab boys there??...OK.What????Oh no....OK......Have the Paramedics look her over,and get her to Ponyville Community Hospital......Yeh.We're on our way."

Lonny hung up and looked at his brother in law and said,"Bro.Pack it up.We caught one."

Big Mac and Rainbow Dash walked up as Applejack asked,"What happened Hun??"

Lonny replied,"We got a double homicide,in the Ponyville Town Center.2 people shot with arrows."Lonny sighed and continued,"And it gets worse...Pinkie saw the whole thing."

Applejack put her hand on her forehead and said,"Oh Sweet Celestia.Pinkie aint that stable.Seein somethin like that could break her mind."

Lonny said,"I think it already has.Thats why I had her sent to Ponyville Community.Applejack.She's gonna all of her friends,right now."

Rainbow Dash then said,"OK.We'll pack things up here.I'll call Fluttershy,and the others and then take Applejack to the hospital to see on Pinkie."

Lonny looked at the cyan pegasus and said,"Thanks Rainbow Dash."

Soon Lonny and Big Mac ran into the house and went to their bathrooms,showered and dressed in record time.They both put on clothes,put on their guns,badges spare ammo and cuffs and were out the door.Lonny kissed his earth pony wife and he and Big Mac got into "The Jav"Lonny's 1972 Javilen 2 door sports car,and sped off to Town Center.Big Mac put the magneteic overhead red light on the roof and activated the siren.

Lonny and Big Mac arrived at the center of town and saw a crowd of people around the crime scene.The human/pony detectives looked at each other and shook their heads.they knew cases like this brought out "The Ghouls".People,didn't matter if they were human.pony,or whatever.Some people wanted to see blood or bodies.Lonny called the "Ghouls"He and Big Mac got out of "The Jav"and made their way to the scene.Lonny then looked at Officer Newman and said,"Newman.Get these people back."

Newman did what she was told and along with a group of uniform officers kept crowd control to a minimum.Both bodies were covered in yellow tarp.Vanilla Pudding from "The Great Canterlot Office of The Medical Examiner-Coroner was doing his work.As was Spy Glass,from The Royal Canterlot Police Crime Lab.Lonny and Big Mac walked up and spoke with Van.

Lonny said,"Hey Van.So,what do we have??"

Van replied,"Hi Lonny.Hi Big Mac.Well we have a stallion,about 29.Shot in the back of the neck with a crossbow bolt.It looks like the bolt entered through the back of the victims neck,severing the 2nd and 3rd vertebre.He died in seconds.The second victim a human female caught a bolt in her right eye socket and it went right into her brain.She died instantly."

Big Mac saw something on the ground and said,"Brother.Look."

Lonny looked and saw the velvet box,and ring still inside it and said,"It's an engagement ring.He was proposing to her."Then Lonny looked at Officer Conners and asked,"Where is Pinkie-Pie now Conners??"

Conners replied,"The ambulance took her to Ponyville Community about 5 minutes ago.And Sarge.She was totally out of it.I mean gone."

Big Mac asked,"Whadda ya mean gone??"

Conners replied,"Her coat was darker than normal,her mane was flat,and she was talking gibberish."

Lonny then said,"Oh Sweet Celestia.It's worse than we thought."

Conners asked,"Sarge.Will she be allright??I know Pinkie.She'a always nice to me and every cop in The Barracks."

Lonny seeing Conners was a little upset,but keeping himself in control,put his hand on The young human officers shoulder and replied,"I hope so.My wife and her friends are headed there now to be with her.So Keep a good thought.OK??"

Conners took a deep breath and said,"Copy that Sarge."

Lonny said,"Good.So what about any other witnesses??"

Conners replied,"Well we interviewed about 10 people and they all said the same thing.The stallion was on one knee,holding that box.The female victim was standing,and they both looked happy at that point."

Lonny thought for a moment and said,"OK.Van,indulge for a minute.Judging from the position of the male victim.He was kneeling right about here.And his girlfriend was standing facing him."

Van said,"Yeah.That sounds about right."

Big Mac then said,"So that means the shots had ta come from."Big Mac moved his finger and saw something that interested him,snapped his fingers and said,"There.That thar 3 story buildin across the street.Ah'm a guessin from the 3rd floor.The roof is too slanted ta make a good vantage point."

Lonny looked at the same building and said,"I think your right on the money Bro.Hey Spy."

Spy Glass replied,"YO."

Lonny said,"Take some of your guys and check out the 3rd floor of that building there.If there is any evidence of a shooter there.I want it.Conners.Go with them."

Big Mac saw an unmarked "Century" 4 door police car come up and saw who was driving.It was their boss.Captain Gale Goldtalon.A Griffon,with 25 years on the department.Goldtalon got out of the car,looked at Lonny and Big Mac and sake,"OK boys.What do we have??"

Lonny said,"We have 2 people shot by a sniper with a crossbow.While the Stallion was proposing to his girlfriend.And "Element of Laughter"Miss Pinkimena Pie.saw the whole thing.And right now she catatonic."

Goldtalon said."Oh great creator.The press is gonna have a field day with this.I'd better call headquarters.The Chief is going to want to know.And I want to talk to you two.Walk inside with me."

Lonny and Big Mac walked inside a convience store.Goldtalon said,"I know your family and The Pies are related.Do I have to pull you two,or can you both be objective??Because The Chief is gonna ask me that same question."

Loony replied,"Pinkie is a witness,and yeah.I don't like seeing my friends hurting like she is,but Big Mac and I can remain focused."

Big Mac said,"Eyup."

Goldtalon said,"Good.Because I don't want those gloryhounds from Robbery Homicide taking this one.So solve it."

Lonny looked at Van Pudding and his assistants putting the bodies in body bags and said,"We'd better.Because this is just beginning."
