Chapters Chapter One~Fizzlepop Berrytwist
Author's Note
This is my first story and I decided to make it about Tempest Shadow (Fizzlepop Berrytwist)! I enjoyed the good side of her that I caught at the end of the MLP movie, and I wanted to carry the story on to her life in Ponyville after the Storm King was defeated. Let me know what you think, and I'm open to criticism! (Also I don't own any of these characters, Hasbro created them. Yeah. They do the creating, I do the writing.)
Chapter One~Fizzlepop Berrytwist
Chapter One~Fizzlepop Berrytwist
Fizzlepop Berrytwist opened her eyes to find an angry minty-green unicorn glaring at her. "Um, hi?”
“Bon Bon was sitting there, Tempest ,” the unicorn hissed. Her horn began to sparkle with greenish-blue aura surrounding it. Though Fizzlepop doubted the unicorn had meant to show it off, the sheer use of magic made her wince, remembering that her own magic didn’t work due to her broken horn. The one the Storm King had promised to fix. She should have never trusted him.
“So move it!”
Fizzlepop jerked her head up, having momentarily forgotten the unicorn. “Sorry. I was thinking. I’ll move.” She got to her hooves, stretching, and instantly her spot on the bench was taken by a light yellow pony with dark blue and bright pink hair.
“Don’t be so rude, Lyra,” the pony who Fizzlepop assumed was Bon Bon, said. “She’s changed, and she’s proven it. She helped take down the Storm King. And don’t forget she risked her life to save Princess Twilight and her friends.”
Lyra rolled her eyes and flipped her green and white mane. She slid down onto her stomach and brought out a newspaper. Equestria Daily, from the looks of it.
Fizzlepop turned around and began to walk towards Twilight’s castle. As she approached the castle, she took in every detail of it. Twilight herself said that it had been created by the Tree of Harmony. Up until then, Fizzlepop had thought the Tree was an old mare’s tale, but then the Princess of Friendship had taken her to it to show her. It was a magical sight, and the castle itself was just as magical.
Fizzlepop pushed open the huge golden door and walked inside. Twilight and her friends were about the only ponies that fully trusted her. And even then, Rainbow Dash was still a tiny bit untrustful, and so were some of the others, and she couldn’t blame them. Bon Bon was the only pony who made a genuine effort to be kind. And Fizzlepop appreciated the effort.
“Fizzlepop!”
Fizzlepop swung her head upwards, searching for the pony the voice belonged to. Standing on the balcony was Twilight and a certain pink earth pony was standing right beside her. Of all Twilight’s friends, Pinkie Pie was the first to accept her, and although Fluttershy was kind, Pinkie was bright and open to Fizzlepop right from the beginning whereas Fluttershy was timid and afraid of her for a while.
“Heyyyy,” Pinkie shouted, sliding down the spiral banister. “What’s up Fizzie? The ponies in Ponyville warming up to ya yet?”
Fizzlepop smiled warmly at her friend before replying, “Not really. Well, there was one pony, Bon Bon-”
“Was Lyra with her? Tell me Lyra was there. She was, right?” The pony jumped up and down, and Fizzlepop’s head spun after watching her jump up and down, up and down, up and-
“Alright Pinkie, give her some space,” Twilight said, fluttering down to meet both of the ponies. “Remember what I said about chilling out? You should chill out right now.”
A small laugh emitted from Fizzlepop before she said, “Yes, Lyra was there.”
“Aha!” Pinkie Pie shrieked. “I knew it. They’re always together. They must be dating. No pony spends every living hour with one of their best friends!”
“Don’t you do that..?”
“Well, uh, now you mention it, yeah!” Pinkie exclaimed. She tapped her hoof to her chin. “Buuuut, I am just so sure those two are together! I’m investigating, you know.”
“Maybe we don’t meddle in other ponies’ relationships and instead worry about ourselves?” Twilight offered. She unfolded her wings. “Let’s go upstairs. Pinkie and I were just in the smaller library upstairs.”
“Yeah!” Pinkie confirmed. Then she paused, confused. “Wait, what were we even doing in there?”
“Looking for a baking recipe for you,” the purple alicorn reminded her.
“Ohhhh yeah, let’s go!” Pinkie bounced up the stairs and out of sight.
Fizzlepop shook her head and shot a grin at the princess. “That pony is so crazy and silly. But she’s pretty great.”
Twilight nodded her agreement, then gave a small but genuine smile that was filled with warmth. “You really do fit in here, you know that? Some ponies haven’t gotten around to acknowledging it yet, but you really do fit in. I’m glad you decided to join us.” Then the alicorn flapped her wings and rose up to the balcony with Fizzlepop racing up the stairs.
“Found it!” Pinkie’s high-pitched voice trilled through the air. She climbed down from the enormous stack of discarded books. “Grass Green’s Green Edition of Green Baking!”
Fizzlepop would have been shocked or confused or something like surprised, but she knew Pinkie too well. Of course Pinkie would want a green baking book.... Whatever that meant.
Pinkie waved a hoof in goodbye to the other two ponies and dashed off to Sugarcube Corner where she was going to undoubtedly create something from the recipe book.
Fizzlepop grimaced and said, “Sorry, Twilight. I would help you reshelve all these books, but...” She motioned to her horn and lack of magic. “It’s a challenge to pick them up with my hooves.” “
"Not to worry,” Twilight answered, and her horn glowed pink for a few moments. All the books were levitated for a second, hovering in midair before they all started flying into their respective places. The room was clean in a couple seconds. Fizzlepop gaped at the alicorn in awe. She knew alicorns were powerful, but aside from Cadence’s little display in Canterlot before she was turned to obsidian, she hadn’t seen much alicorn magic. And it wasn’t like shelving books was that amazing, it was that there were thousands of books and to lift all of them at once... When she still had her magic, Fizzlepop could only lift around twenty things at a time, thirty if she was lucky.
"Magic’s kinda my thing,” Twilight added, as Fizzlepop just stood in shock. “No need to stare like that. Just a little magic.” After a pause, she quickly added, “Sorry. I didn’t mean to rub it in about your horn or-ugh, I’m sorry.”
Fizzlepop shook her head. “It’s fine.” She gave a small smile. At least Twilight didn’t mean to offend, unlike some other ponies. She trotted out of the room, calling, ‘I’m going to visit Sweet Apple Acres for some apple juice Spike asked me to pick up earlier!”

Chapter Two~Sweet Apple Acres and Sugarcube Corner
"Howdy, Fizzlepop!" Applejack's voice rang out. "I'm in the kitchen!"
Fizzlepop only took a few steps into the foyer before an old cranky voice said, "What're you doin' here, Tempest Shadow?" The light green elderly pony sat on a creaky wooden rocking chair. A frown was clearly displayed on Granny Smith's face.
"It's Fizzlepop Berrytwist, actually," Fizzlepop ducked her head, flushing. "Uh, Spike asked me to get apple juice..." Fizzlepop decided to add some sugar to coat her words. "And I just knew that Sweet Apple Acres would be the perfect place to get it because you have such good apples!"
Granny Smith's demeanor shifted pretty quickly after that. "Why yes, we have wonderful apples. You know, my father and I grew this orchard from scratch," she said, groaning as she got up from her perch on the chair. "We also discovered the zap apple jam, only made here at Sweet Apple Acres! Oh, yes, I nearly forgot. Did you know my grandfoals are half pear? A pony named Pear Butter from the Pear family married my son, Bright Mac. Now, about where our family started, let's see..."
"Fizzlepop-oh."
The two ponies looked up to see Applejack in the door frame. "I was wondering where yeh had gotten to. Figuring yer talkin' to Granny, reckon I'd step in before yer here all night. Once yeh get Granny started on history..." Applejack trailed off with a chuckle.
Granny Smith looked indignant. "Now Applejack, I was just getting started tellin' Tempest-er-Fizzlepop here, our history which is very important."
"Mhm," Applejack answered, grinning. "Well, maybe y'all could save yer history talk fer later. Fizzlepop, I believe I have some apple juice for yeh in the back. C'mon."
Fizzlepop nodded and followed Applejack out back. "Thank you so much. I can't stand talks about history. Even short ones."
"Trust me, once you get Granny going, there is no short ones."
The orange earth pony gestured to the crates filled with apple juice. Fizzlepop stared at the crates. "I didn't know Spike wanted this much."
"It's his usual order that he places every week. He usually comes to pick it up, but I guess he sent you instead," Applejack explained.
"He went to the Dragonlands to visit Ember. If I didn't know better, I would've thought he had a crush on her," Fizzlepop joked.
Applejack jerked her head back, then looked up and down, surveying the farm with its silos, animal pens, and orchard, checking for any other ponies. Then she leaned in and whispered, "Uh... He does."
Fizzlepop felt her face arrange itself in a picture of shock before she burst into peals of laughter. Applejack soon joined in, and they were rolling on the dirt ground, giggling. After a few moments, the two recovered and Fizzlepop loaded the crate into a small wagon.
"Need any help around the farm?" Fizzlepop asked. "I'd be glad to help."
Applejack paused for a moment, contemplating. "Naw. We're all good here. Thanks though, Fizzlepop."
Fizzlepop nodded before latching the harness around herself and began pulling the cart to the next stop-Sugarcube Corner. She marveled at the sights of the happy ponies, sitting by the fountain, the small foals frolicking across the lush green grasses... To think she tried destroying this place, to think she wanted to rip this peace and happiness away from them... Fizzlepop shuddered at who she used to be. She was so glad she had recognized which side she truly wanted to be on.
Fizzlepop's ears perked up as she heard distant... Cello music? Dubstep cello music? Huh? As she rounded the corner, she saw a cellist and a DJ on a platform stage with ponies all around sitting and watching. Fizzlepop watched from afar and joined in stamping her hooves to the ground in applause.
"Vinyl Scratch and Octavia, we love you!"
"Octavia! Cellos forever!"
"Vinyl and Octavia are sooo cute!"
"DJ-ing!"
So the ponies were Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. Fizzlepop watched as the two leaned in for a quick kiss on the lips. The pony felt a small pang in her chest. A small part of her longed for the romance of a relationship, but she ignored it and resumed her walking pace and made her way to Sugarcube Corner.
The bright pink eye-catching shop stood out amongst the tan and yellow buildings and cottages of Ponyville. The whole shop looked as if it were made out of candy, and no doubt it was Pinkie's idea. A long time ago, Sugarcube Corner used to be a drab light brown store, blending in with the homes, but Pinkie came along and redecorated the entire shop. Or at least that's what Fizzlepop had been told.
"Hiya, Fizzlepop! How can I help you?"
Fizzlepop looked up, finding Pinkie watching her from behind the counter. It hit Fizzlepop that she actually had no reason for coming to the bakery and had no idea why she had come. "Erm..."
Pinkie's bright blue eyes suddenly went wide. "Ohh! You're here for my Green Cupcakes!"
Fizzlepop nodded eagerly, glad for an excuse. She didn't want it to sound like she had only come to see Pinkie-wait. Wasn't that precisely what she had just done? "Uh, what are they, again?"
Pinkie popped up right beside Fizzlepop and explained, "They're made out of veggies and stuff. Green ? Get it? Buuuut they still taste really good! At least I think so."
The pink pony stuffed a cupcake into Fizzlepop's mouth. Fizzlepop chewed thoughtfully. It tasted like vegetables... but it didn't taste bad. Quite good, actually. Fizzlepop nodded her approval.
"Yay," Pinkie said happily.
"Wanna go see Vinyl Scratch and Octavia perform live outside Town Hall?" Fizzlepop blurted suddenly. "To just... hangout? 'Cause I feel like I don't see you that much." The blush was evident on Fizzlepop's cheeks-wait. Blush?! What was wrong with her today? Blush? What even?
Fortunately, Pinkie was about as dense as her cupcake, so she just replied with a 'Sure!' and the two headed over to Town Hall.
"Can you guys cover for me?" Pinkie yelled on their way out. "'Kay, thanks!"
"Who were you talking to?" Fizzlepop wondered as they traveled over the dirt paths.
"Pumpkin and Pound Cake," Pinkie answered, and they continued down the road.
Weren't those... foals? Fizzlepop asked herself. Knowing Pinkie Pie, probably. And that's what I like about her. Wait. Like? As in... crush? Was Fizzlepop... started to like her best friend?

"You want me to do what?!"
Just a few hours ago, Fizzlepop had risen from her bed, her silky soft blue bed-the new bed in her small new cottage-and set off to visit Zecora, a zebra rumored to have wonderful advice and lots of wisdom. Twilight confirmed the rumors, and thankfully didn't ask why Fizzlepop had inquired about Zecora.
Fizzlepop hoped to find answers and guidance about her ever-growing crush on Pinkie Pie. What was not to like about her? She was fun, cute, exciting, adorable... Fizzlepop shook her head blearily and headed into the Everfree Forest. Thankfully Zecora didn't live too deep into the forest, and Fizzlepop reached the hut in no time.
"Hello, Zecora!" Fizzlepop exclaimed when the door opened upon her knock.
"Welcome, Fizzlepop, I hear you were asking for me. Well, here I am, right here, plain as can be," Zecora said warmly, letting Fizzlepop into the small wooden house, built into the base of a tree.
After a few moments of silence passed before Fizzlepop said,"Thing is... I don't have a crush on a stallion..."
Fizzlepop looked up at Zecora, trying to gauge her reaction, but the only response she got was a blink of confusion.
"You seem solemn. Why is this a problem?" Zecora asked, seemingly genuinely confused. The poor zebra really had no clue. As Fizzlepop was deciding how to say it, Zecora grabbed multiple bottles of Celestia knows what, and dumped their contents into a cauldron. "This potion is for one of my dear friends. It gets completely rid of split ends," she said by way of explaining.
"Rarity?" Fizzlepop guessed with a slight smile.
Zecora nodded as she mixed the ingredients together and the cauldron's light green shade turned to a bubbling magenta. The zebra dipped a small flask into the liquid, filling it up to the top. Fizzlepop decided to get straight to the point.
"I don't mean I don't have a crush. I just mean... I don't have a crush on a stallion..." Fizzlepop explained nervously.
Zecora studied Fizzlepop intently before saying, "If you don't mind me asking, which pony have you gained affection for? And does this pony know you have a crush on her, or..?"
"It's..." Fizzlepop glanced around nervously. She sighed and said, "Pinkie Pie..."
Zecora laughed, the rich sound filling the air.
"What's so funny?" Fizzlepop asked, slightly indignant.
The striped zebra walked closer to Fizzlepop, putting a hoof on her shoulder. "No no, you misunderstand. I am merely laughing at the situation. Now, where is Pinkie Pie, and her location?"
Fizzlepop was confused. What? What did that have to do with anything. "Uh... She should be at Sugarcube Corner."
Zecora smiled and said, "I have an idea, but please do not squeal. Why don't you tell Pinkie Pie what you feel?"
Fizzlepop squealed before apologizing immediately. Zecora covered her ears quickly, wincing at the high pitched yelp.
"You want me to do what?!" She repeated again. Fizzlepop could not have thought of a scarier idea than that. "But-but what if she doesn't like me back? What if she rejects me, and we never speak again! It could make it so awkward, it could-"
"Hush, dear one it's quite alright," Zecora interrupted. "This idea should not be put out of sight. You never know what could happen... If you only imagine." The zebra gave a knowing smile before motioning with a flick of her tail to the door.
Fizzlepop turned tail and sprinted out of the hut and out of the Everfree Forest. She booked it all the way to Sugarcube Corner. She prepared to burst into the shop and shout, 'Pinkie!' but the pink pony was already outside under one of the umbrella-covered tables, sipping a milkshake.
"I was wondering when you'd come!" Pinkie exclaimed brightly, putting her hooves onto the table. "You got the invitation, right?"
"Huh?"
"I sent a letter to your cottage," Pinkie explained. She gestured towards the direction of Fizzlepop's home. "Inviting you to come here. Ya didn't get it?"
Fizzlepop shook her head no. She flushed slightly, noticing she was the only pony invited. But that didn't mean anything, no, of course it didn't. But no was the big moment. Ugh, why can't you just tell her,Fizzlepop? Fizzlepop thought to herself in annoyance. She scuffed at the ground with her hoof, her head down. How should I say it? Should she say it confidently? Awkwardly? No, not awkwardly. Ughhhh. Just gotta be myself...
"I called you here for a reason," Pinkie said after a long silence.
Fizzlepop looked up immediately, looking for any signs, but there was no blush to be seen-whether there was none or it blended in with her pink coat which was the exact shade of blush already. Fizzlepop gritted her teeth together. Why couldn't she just say it? Why couldn't see just admit her crush? The answer was probably because Fizzlepop didn't have a crush on Pinkie Pie. Not anymore. She had fallen head over hooves for the pink earth pony. She was officially in love, and for reasons Fizzlepop couldn't even explain... There was just something about the energetic, bright pony.
"Uhm... Pinkie? I have something to tell you..."
