Sunset groaned as she woke up in a white medical room to see Luna looking at her fraught with worry “Sunset, are you okay?”

Sunset gave Luna a pleading look “Please tell me I was dreaming?”

Luna shook her head “No you weren’t, Discord is very real” she sighed “I must admit I was hoping you would avoid meeting him until you were better adjusted to the underground. I don’t know how he copes with how most ponies act around him, many regard him with hostility yet he acts like it doesn’t matter.’

Sunset eyes widened as she turned to the wall to see an odd painting on the wall, she walked over to it and punched it. It turned into a long serpentine creature, Luna growled “Discord I told you to wait outside, why part of that didn‘t you understand!”

Discord grinned “Well I’m sorry Lulu but that’s boring, I live for the fun of life. You know me what I’m like Lulu.” He clicked his claws as dancing rainbows entered the room playing kazoos.

Sunset began to giggle then burst into laughter at the ridiculous display “Okay I misjudged you, gods I needed that.”

Discord grinned as he gave an overly exaggerated bow “Thank you, I live to serve.”

Luna facehooved “Sometimes I wonder why we made you the Royal Scientist when you behave like this.”

Discord laughed “It’s because I think outside the box dear Lulu, and I can do anything …” he frowned “except break that confounded barrier, it covers all of the underground.”

Sunset blinked “But I fell in the mountain, it should have stopped me then.”

Luna shook her head “Unfortunately it’s not that simple, the barrier allows things in but doesn’t allow them out again. It takes both a a human soul and a monster soul to go through the barrier and it takes seven human souls to break the barrier.”

Sunset cast a small glance down at herself as thoughts were running through her head (I could give somepony my soul and they could get six more souls, they could be free.)

Discord frowned “Lulu, I need to talk to you about something serious” as soon as Luna turned to him “he whispered in her ear “I need to do it alone, away from prying ears.”

Luna nodded before turning to Sunset with a smile “Go and play with Sunshine, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. The three of them have been so worried about you.”

Sunset nodded “I will.”

Discord teleported the two of them away with a click of his claws. He frowned as they arrived in the interdimensional space he created “So what are you going to with Sunset, she has no family here?”

Luna slumped “I don’t know, I have been considering taking her in as my own but I’m not sure if I should. I’m not sure if I can handle taking caring of someone yet, she has a faced greater hardship than I have. I think if it would be best to leave her to her own devices.”

Discord grimaced “I’ve seen how you act around her, what if she decides that you are her new mother. I want you to at least consider it, for her sake.”

Luna sighed “I understand Discord but I’ll give her some time to settle in first, she needs to adjust to our way of life first. I don’t want her to overburdened by us so soon.”

Discord smiled “Well that’s good to know, now I believe we should locate them before they get into trouble.”

Luna nodded with a smile “I agree.”

The two teleported back into the room and left only to see no sign of the foals, they then heard the sound of screams from outside. They teleported out only to have their eyes widen as several heavily armed ponies wearing dark armour were dead on the ground as another twenty were glaring at a short bipedal figure wearing a black armour with splotches of dark crimson standing in front of Fluttershy, Rainbow and Sunshine pointing their sword at the dark armoured ponies.

Earlier

Sunset exited the room to see Sunshine, Rainbow and Fluttershy. They all jumped on her “Are you alright?!”

Sunset groaned under the weight, she sighed as the ponies got off her “Yes, it’s just I have never seen a being like Dr Discord and I fainted because of that.”

Fluttershy smiled “It’s not a problem, a lot of ponies faint at seeing our father.”

Rainbow grinned “It was funny when our school teacher fainted at the sight of him.”

Sunshine smiled “Come on, let’s go outside. Sunset has seen what life is like in Canterlot proper.”

The group headed outside, Sunset looked around in awe as she saw the countless mansions running along perfectly paved streets “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Rainbow grinned “It’s awesome isn’t it!”

Fluttershy nodded “Yes but it’s no Snowville that’s for sure, I enjoy the feeling of snow beneath my hooves.”

Sunshine slumped “I wish I could come over but mum is too scared. She is worried the ponies in shadow armour will get me.”

Before Sunset could say anything they heard screaming “Everypony run, the Corrupted are coming!”

Soon twenty five ponies in blackish armour rushed forward carrying dark blades, one cut a pegasus mare in half before jumping on a unicorn stallion severing his head from his body. Sunset began to shake, this was her village all over again. Fluttershy’s eye glowed rainbow as she stood next to Rainbow Dash ready for a fight while Sunshine cowered behind them. One of them shouted as they saw Sunshine “It’s an Alicorn, get her!”

One of the Corrupted rushed towards the group only to be cut in half by a red blade, everyone watched in shock as the mares intestines spilled onto the ground. The leader of the group stepped forward “You shouldn't have done that, I Captain Shadow Side servant of the Rightful King Sombra will…”

Sunset looked up her eyes and mouth leaking a dark oily substance. Her demonic voice boomed “YoU TRiEd tO hURt mY fRieNDs, i wIlL kIll yOU ALl!” A black suit of full plate armour with splotches of dark crimson formed over her body, her red sword turned black.

Shadow Side roared as he ordered four of his guys to attack only for Sunset to dissapear in a flash of speed before the three were cut into pieces.

Fluttershy was stunned “How?”

Rainbow grinned “I don’t care it’s awesome!”

Sunshine turned to Rainbow “She killed those ponies, without a hint of remorse. They are evil but they are still living things.”

Fluttershy shook her head “Our father always told me and Rainbow that not everyone can be saved. Sometimes one needs to put down a threat to save others and these ponies are one such threat.”

Shadow Side roared “Everypony charge, for our King!” Sunset rushed forward with her sword tearing one stallion’s head off before a mare’s body split in half next to him. Shadow Side tried to block with his shield only for the sheer force to tear his shield in half before removing his right foreleg. The next minute a sword tore into his throat.

At that moment Discord turned to Luna with fear in his eyes “She’s scary.”

Luna gulped “I know and I have to tell my sister about this. This is going to be bad.” Both shook in fear of what could happen should the two fight.
