Marenobyl Diaries

Twilight stood outside the van, waiting for her friends to show up. She knew Rainbow Dash was going to be late, and so was Rarity. She didn't expect Pinkie Pie and Applejack to be late though. The only other ponies their was the princess and a guide pony by the name of Viktoriya Mikhailov. She was a stern looking earth pony, black maned and silver coat. Her cutie mark was a map and a strange symbol of a hammer and a sickle overlay-ed upon each other.

"Princess, why won't you tell me where you are sending us? It seems strange of you to be secretive of these matters." Twilight inquired of her teacher. "And why do we need a travel guide, I know all of Equestria by heart!"

"Calm yourself, my dear student. All things will be revealed in time. Also, Viktoriya  here is necessary for this expedition. Just trust me, Twilight. Just trust me." She smiled at the little purple unicorn, the look on her face told Twilight that she was hiding something.

"Twilight! There you are!" Pinkie came bouncing up the road with her normal I'm-so-happy-I-could-die-of-happiness-than-come-back-to-life-from-happiness-smile. No one ever never knew if Pinkie was just always happy or completely insane. "I looked all over for you. I have something to tell you."

"What is it Pinkie?"

"Applejack can't come with us, she's sick." The pink pony said as she bounced in place, obviously excited about this trip.

"Oh no. Princess, maybe we should wait until Applejack is felli-"

"No." She snapped without seeming harsh. "It is of vital importance that you leave immediately, Applejack will just have to remain here."

"But.." She looked up into Celestia's eyes, which looked back with kindness with urgency buried beneath." Ok, if you say so."

"Hey!" Rainbow Dash called as she and Rarity came down the road to meet the group."Wazzup every pony." She looked over at Viktoriya. "Who's that?"

"Мене звуть Вікторія Михайлова" Viktoriya stated, receiving strange looks from everyone but Celestia and Twilight. " Приємно зустрітися з вами."

"Uhh, any pony understand what the fuck she just said!?" Rainbow looked around.

"She said that her name is Viktoriya Mikhailov and it's nice to meet you." Twilight said staring straight at Rainbow, who was looking at the silver mare.

"Oh, uhh, Hi Viktoriya, I'm.."

"Веселка тире я знаю, і це Пінкі пиріг, і це рідкість"

"Let me guess, she said she knows I'm Rainbow Dash, and that's Pinkie Pie and that's Rarity."

"Uhh...yeah. How did you know?"

Rainbow smirked. "Як ви думаєте, що великий тире Рейнбоу ніколи не зможуть вивчати іншу мову, Eh товариш?"

"Umm...wow, I did not see that coming." Twilight stated just as shocked as everyone there. "Ok, enough bullshit. Princess, what the hell are we doing?!"

"Ok, I need you ponies to go check out a place I will only let you go to. Twilight you don't even know about this, no matter how much you may know about Equestria." Celestia looked off towards the mountains. "Have you ever noticed, any pony, that there is a blank area on the maps of Equestria, near Stalliongrad if I remember correctly. No roads, restricted airspace, no forests. Just blank."

"Of course we have Princess!" Rainbow Dash called out. "Do you know how many times I've tried to fly over that place to see what was going on there?! I always assumed you were building some kind of weapon or something there."

Celestia sighed. "Well, you are almost right Rainbow Dash. About 50 years ago, we had to find a way to power all the great machines Equestrian scientists were inventing. We searched for months until we discovered something that produced enough energy to run the machines without pushing unicorn magic to far." She nudged a small piece of black rock to where everyone could see. "This ore could be refined and used to produce power."

"Sorry to interrupt, Princess, but how does this relate to where we are going?"

"Patience, Twilight. After we discovered this ore, we came up with a plan to build a power station, a place where we could produce power and send it all over Equestria. We wanted to build it near Canterlot, but the mayor of Stalliongrad suggested we set it up near a small community called Marenobyl. The mayor of Marenobyl agreed and we built it. Most of the residents were happy because the station would bring more jobs and money for the town. We opened it and things went smoothly for about a week, then something happened that no one expected. While running a systems test, there was an explosion in the No.4 reactor. It blew a giant hole in the station and sent harmful materials all over Marenobyl and a good bit around it. We got as many ponies out of there as we could, but the rest stayed and died."

"How were you able to hide such a terrible disaster, especially one this big, from the whole world!?" Rarity asked.

"We told every pony that there was nothing there but royal lands, and we swore all the survivors to secrecy. But it's been fifty years since then, and the land there should be inhabitable again. That's why i called on you all. You are the only ones i could trust with such a big secret, and the only ones i could trust to go there and make sure that all the dangerous materials are no longer a hazard to any pony."

Twilight gave her friends an odd look to her friends, sending a silent message to all of them. Rarity returned her look in disbelief, Dash with excitement, and Pinkie could care less as she bounced around.

"When do we leave?"

50 YEARS AGO.....

5:45pm

8 hrs. 23 mins. til the disaster.

Fluttershy rushed along a pathway that lead down from her house to her school. She was only a filly, yet she was taller than most others in her class. She didn't understand why and she didn't like how much it made her stand out. But today she didn't care, something amazingly wonderful had happened to her and she couldn't wait to show it off.

"Mommy!" She said in her quiet tone as she rushed through the doors of her families cottage and right into her mother in an ecstatic embrace.

"What is it, Fluttershy?" Her mother said with a smile as her wings wrapped around her child.

"Look!" She turned a little bit and showed off the image of three pink and blue butterflies on her flank.

"You got your cutie mark!" Her mother said in a mix of surprise and joy.

"Yeah! I was just helping take care of the class hamster today and i was enjoying it so much. The next thing i knew every pony was gasping and pointing at me, which got me kind of scared and awfully embarrassed. Then I look to where they were pointing and it was there!" Fluttershy was talking a mile a minute which was so unlike her. She was usually so quiet and withdrawn, her mother had never seen this side of her.

"That's great, Fluttershy!" Her mother sang, literally. They both laughed at the spectacle. "Your father is going to want to hear about this when he gets home. I wonder when he will be back, though."

"Remember, mommy? Daddy said that he was going to be working late tonight."

"Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. Hey, maybe tonight we can go meet him when gets off work from the plant. Give him a good scare, eh?"

Fluttershy giggled abit. "Ok!" She nuzzled her mother then went to her room. She walked right up to her rabbit, Angel,   cage, leaving him a carrot for when he woke, if he would even eat it. Her mind was in a buzz as she laid down in her bed, giving one last look at her cutie mark before drifting off for her afternoon nap.

Oh, I hope that everyday from now on is this great! She whispered as she drifted off to sleep.
