The Letter
The Truth
Load Full StoryRainbow Dash opened the envelope from the Apple Farm with some trepidation, what did Applejack want now? She had won Rarity and Rainbow Dash had lost, what more could there be to possibly say. She had only had sporadic contact with her farm friend, usually only when the group did things together, and then they tended to avoid each other as much as possible. She almost punched something every time she saw Applejack and Rarity being lovey, she snapped at Fluttershy so badly that one time over spilling a drink in the movies she cried. Ugh, being around those two made her so miserable! She couldn't handle it! Rainbow Dash let took in a deep breathe and let it out, what in the world could Applejack want, they still had each other's phone numbers, and Rainbow Dash wasn't screening her calls. Rainbow Dash pulled out the stiff, formal paper of an invitation, engraved with small diamonds and apples on it.
This letter is to announce the upcoming marriage of Rarity and Applejack. You are cordially invited to the wedding on September 7th, 2019. To be held on the Apple Farm from 4:00-6:00 PM, dinner will be provided.
Please RSVP to Sweet Apple Acres Attn: Applebloom
It took all of Rainbow Dash's self-control to not rip the invitation in half. She had known it was coming, there wasn't any way it wasn't. The two had gotten engaged last month, and Rainbow Dash had gone home and destroyed her punching bag that evening. Normally impossible, but when one can punch at super speed there's not much that can stop Rainbow Dash if she's in the mood to destroy. Rainbow Dash was already planning on delaying as long as possible by saying she never received invitation then avoiding it by saying she had a family wedding, or a funeral, or maybe surgery, she didn't know! She'd come up with something. Rainbow Dash picked up the envelope to toss it but felt another letter inside. Curious despite herself she pulled it out and read, it was written in the flowing handwriting of the woman she was in love with.
Hello Darling!
I know you got the official invitation from Applebloom, she is really dear for helping out. But I wanted to send you a personal invitation as well. It would mean the world to me and Applejack if you came to our wedding. Applejack told me you two have been fighting a lot recently, (really, you're both perfectly nice girls, why you're always so up at each other is beyond me) but I beg you to put that aside so that you can attend our wedding. When you two are done squabbling I know that you would kick yourself for not attending. And knowing you that would hurt quite a lot (haha.) Please do come, I'll hold a seat open for you even if you say no. RSVP right to me.
Hugs,
Rarity.
Rainbow Dash paused for a moment, Rarity, RARITY, had sent a personal invitation to her wedding!... Her wedding to Applejack. Rainbow Dash scowled and pulled out a ream of notebook paper and started to feverously write.
Dear Rarity.
Go fuck yourself Rarity! You're marrying ~~Apple~~ that whore! Why the Hell would I come over to your wedding so I can watch the woman of my dreams marry some backwater hayseed redneck!? I'm not about to sit through some backward, "let's all pretend that these two deserve to wear white" wedding! Even though we all know you two have been fucking for the past six months! I bet you put out on the first date! You should be with someone of class, like a star athlete, not some dirty farmer who probably would have married her big brother if you hadn't come along to "keep it in the family!" I will not be attending your sham of a wedding! Shame on you, and shame on Applejack, and shame on your whole families! Both your families!
Kindly fuck off!
Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash huffed loudly, looking at the letter she just wrote and then crumpling it up quickly, hanging her head in shame. Nothing in that letter was true. Well, besides the part about how Rarity should be with her and not Applejack. But nothing else in it was true. She looked down at the next blank piece of paper and started to write again.
Dear Rarity,
I'm afraid I can't. I have been in love with you for years and I cannot attend a wedding where you will be marrying Applejack. I do not think it'd be appropriate to have someone there who wails and rends their clothing in the middle of the ceremony. As such I must decline your most gracious invitation, and furthermore, I will remove myself from your lives, as I don't think I could see you two without trying to kill Applejack, or myself.
Love,
Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash groaned and crumpled that one up too. She couldn't that to them. It wasn't Rarity's fault she was in love with Applejack. And Rainbow Dash had to begrudgingly admit that it wasn't Applejack's fault she was in love with Rarity. It was Rainbow Dash's own fault for not growing a pair and asking before Applejack had! She sighed loudly as she looked down at the paper and again tried to write a response.
Dear Rarity,
It is with my deepest regrets that I have to decline your invitation as my cousin is having her wedding that day and we will be flying out of state. Please have my deepest congratulations to you and Applejack.
From,
Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash against hook her head. "I can't just lie to them!" She beat her head on the letter a few times then crumbled up her third attempt, well, second legitimate attempt. This was going to take a while...
"Darling! Darling!" Rarity smiled walking briskly over to Applejack, grinning from ear to ear and waving a letter in her hand. "I told you that Rainbow Dash wouldn't let your little tiff get in the way of being at our wedding!" Rarity shoved the letter under Applejack's nose.
Dear Rarity and Applejack,
I am very happy for both of you. I would not miss such an important event in both of your lives. It is great that you two have found love. I will, of course, attend for you two. I wish you both only the best in life, and look forward to the wedding of two of my closest friends finding happiness in life together.
Love,
Rainbow Dash
Applejack took the letter from Rarity, reading it again, it was short, but Applejack thought she could see the painstaking care with which it was written. "Well... You sure were sugar cube."
"Now the only question is will she be one of my bridesmaids or your groomsman. I would probably say bridesmaid with you two having your fight."
At that, though Applejack shook her head. "Nah, trust me sugar cube, she'd do better as a groomsman, I think being a bridesmaid would be too hard on her."
"Too hard darling?"
"Uh... Well... Ya know, with the dress and all, Dash isn't much of a girly girl and all..."
Rarity nodded, smiling. "Ahh! Right you are darling." She reached out to take the letter back but Applejack jerked it away slightly.
"Uh... Rares? Can I... Keep this?"
Rarity blinked in surprise but shrugged. "Uh... Sure thing darling, I was just going to recycle it." She kissed Applejack on the cheek and walked away, humming to herself, completely oblivious to the turmoil she'd caused in two girls lives.
"You're a stronger woman than I am Rainbow Dash... I'm sorry." Applejack folded up the letter and put it in her pocket, patting it gently.
