Chapter 4: Sleepover Part 2 / Backstory

Location: Apple Family Barn, Sweet Apple Lane
Date: 9:00 P.M. 4/25/2019

As Emerald Breeze and Dawning Moon walked away from each other, the rest of the group stood there in shocked silence.

“Uh…” Rainbow Dash asked, “Does anybody know what was that about?”

“We do…” Screwball replied, gesturing to herself and Mothball, “As does Speda.”

“But until Emerald, Speda, or Dawning are okay with it,” Mothball continued, “We aren't telling you anything.”

“Just tell them.” Speda mumbled, “They were gonna find out anyway.”

“Okay then.” Mothball replied, before gesturing for Screwball to tell the group.

“So!” Screwy exclaimed, “Here's some background info about the three."

“Emerald Breeze, Speda Hooves, and Dawning Moon are all from another universe, called Fallout: Equestria by those who study the multiverse. The main thing that separated it from Equestria Prime, or this universe, was the fact that a nuclear fallout occurred. Those that survived did so by being cryogenically frozen in carefully maintained Stables within the first few days of the fallout. Emerald, Speda, and Dawning had met at least 3 years before the fallout, while Speda and Emerald met while they were lonely 5- year old fillies in an orphanage in Canterlot. Many people had bullied Speda for being able to use Unicorn magic, despite being a Pegasus. Despite this, Emerald reached out to Speda, and defended her with her oddly powerful magic. Because of their gifts, they were invited to attend Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. They did so, hoping the bullying would stop, and went for 7 years. The opposite happened, however, and the bullying got worse. That was when Emerald got fed up with the constant hurt her adoptive big sister had to endure daily, and had her first Flare. She drained the bullies of their magic, before warping herself and Speda away from the school instinctively. Upon exiting the warp, the two vowed to never return to that school, and headed to a town they'd heard of called Ponyville, where they would be accepted. On the way there, they took a break at an inn near the road. This is where they would meet Dawning Moon for the first time.”

At that point, Mothball took over telling the story.

“See, since the bullying had started at Celestia's School, Speda had started drinking, as alcohol wasn't as restricted in that universe as it is in this one. She had started drinking so often that, as you could see, it took a LOT of booze to get her drunk. Knowing this, Speda boldly declared that she could win a drink-off against anypony in the bar. Dawning Moon was the only one brave enough to accept Speda's challenge, as word had spread about a light blue Pegasus with dark blue eyes who had won thousands of drink-offs. Dawning knew this, but challenged her anyway. It ended like this one, with Dawning Moon losing by just one or two shots. After that, the two got closer, along with Emerald meeting Dawning the next day. Emerald and Dawning Moon became friends, just not to the extent that Speda and Dawning did. On the day that Speda was planning on asking Dawning Moon on a date, the first nuclear weapon was launched. This caused everypony to rush towards their assigned Stables. Luckily, Emerald, Speda, and Dawning were all hired as manetenance for the same Stable, Stable 6. This meant that they, along with the rest of the manetenance crew, would be released from the cryogenic ice 30 years earlier then the rest of the inhabitants, to make sure that the Stable was clean and functioning when the rest were awoken. Years passed before the external radiation meters sensed that it would be safe to release the manetenance crew. When they were awoken, they quickly got to work cleaning up the Stable. Within a few weeks, however, the rush had died down, and Speda was planning on asking Dawning Moon to be her marefriend. On that fateful day, Dawning was assigned to hunting duty, and left the Stable to find food. That was the last time they saw Dawning Moon."

“I can take it from here.” Speda stated, her eyes still watering a bit, “My heart was broken by Dawning Moon's disappearance. Upon seeing what happened to me, Emerald swore that she would make Dawning pay, no matter what. After that day, nopony was allowed out of the Stable alone. Months passed, and Dawning Moon was still missing. Three months after her disappearance, me and Emerald were on a scavenging mission, when we sensed a burst of Chaos Magic. We're cautiously approached the source, as we had heard rumors of a Draconequus wandering the wilderness. We arrived just in time, however, as, in a flash of purple and green light, two creatures appeared, one a Changeling, the other a regular Earth Pony. They looked very confused as to where they were, so we escorted them back to Stable 6 after making sure they were free of radiation. Once we had reached the Stable, the two introduced themselves as Screwball and Mothball, and explained that they were from another dimension, called Disneyquestria, and had been transported to our dimension by a teleportation gone wrong. When asked what they meant, Screwball replied that she was the Daughter of Discord, and had lost focus in the middle of teleporting the two to a special place in the Everfree, and they ended up in our dimension. They stayed for a couple of days, before trying to return to their world. The two vanished in a flash of light similar to what they had appeared in, before reappearing a few seconds later. Apparently, they had traveled to hundreds of dimensions, but couldn't find theirs. They were, however, able to obtain a device that could chart the multiverse. They found a universe that had a signature nearly identical to theirs, but they couldn't reach it, as the two didn't have enough magic to reach it without killing themselves in the process. They said that they needed the two strongest magic-wielders in the Stable, and were led to me and Emerald. They explained that with our power combined with theirs, they could reach the dimension. We agreed to help, and lent our magic to Screwball, who wove it into the magic possessed by herself and Mothball, before we disappeared. We had almost reached Disneyquestria, when something pulled us off track and into this universe, Equestria Prime. We arrived in a ruined Ponyville directly after the Storm King’s defeat, and headed to the only building that was completely intact. We met the Pony versions of Applejack, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Twilight. They offered us the Castle of the Two Sisters, as long as we helped rebuild Ponyville. We agreed to live in the castle, as there weren't any other dimensions with a signature like theirs, and Disneyquestria’s signature had disappeared. We had been living there until Emerald and I were exiled.”

“That explains a lot.” Rainbow Dash stated, and started up the stairs, “Welp, I'm going to go talk to Dawning Moon.”

“I'll try to calm down Emerald.” Sunset murmured, walking in the other direction.

“The rest of us will just stay here, okay Sugarcube?” Applejack replied.

“Alright.” Sunset responded, as the rest spread out through the barn, but not as excited as before.
