Yu-Gi-Oh! Equestria Girls
Chapter 6: Challenge
Previous ChapterAs Emerald Breeze entered the barn, she saw Green Key waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs. As she approached, Green Key started talking.
“Emerald,” She stated, “I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” Emerald replied, looking around.
“I need to tell you what happened that day,” Green Key continued, “So that hopefully it'll change your view of me.”
“Before you do,” Emerald asked, “Where's Speda and Rainbow?”
“They went to get something together.” Green Key replied.
“Ok.” Emerald stated, “What's your side of the story then?”
“As you know,” Green Key began, “On that day, I was sent on scavenging duty. While I was out, I hadn't found anything to bring back to the Stable. As such, I explored a bit outside of the Stable’s known boundaries. While I was searching, I came across a pool of pure, uncorrupted water. In fact, it was the cleanest water I had seen since we're were frozen, so I investigated it. I stuck a hoof into it, and, aside from a bit of tingling, the water was fine! However, the tingling worried me, so I grabbed two bottles out of my saddlebags to store some of the water in and take it to the study lab. Right before I could collect some of the water, I heard a rustling behind me, and I whirled around, magic at the ready. What came out of the grass, however, shocked me. In front of me was a green artificial Alicorn, her magic having already summoned a protective shield around her. Due to the shield, I wasn’t able to use my regular magic, so I used my prototype Blue Attack, surrounding her and stabbing her with light blue pens. At first, she tried charging me, but quickly stopped when she figured out that the magic doesn't hurt unless you move. She then surprised me with a magic blast, disrupting the attack, and launching me into the pool. I started to swim back to shore, but it felt like something was pulling me back under the water. Eventually, my strength ran out, and the whirlpool sucked me in. There was a flash of light, then the world went back. When I woke up, I was in front of Canterlot High. I stayed here, studying the Canterlot portal's magic, and hoping that you and Speda would stay safe until I got back, or you found me. That brings us to tonight.”
“What about tonight?” Emerald inquired.
“I-" Green Key hesitated, “I'm sorry for hurting Speda, as I didn't want to hurt her.”
“And?” Emerald asked, “There's more that you want to say, isn't there?”
“You're right.” Green Key admitted, “I never wanted to hurt Speda, nor will I ever want to hurt her, because I- I love her.”
“I see…” Emerald muttered, “You are forgiven, but before I allow you to be in a relationship with my sister, you must do one thing.”
“Anything.” Green Key replied, determined.
“Prove yourself!” Emerald declared, “Prove to me that you have not only the strength to protect yourself, but the strength to protect Speda from anyone, including myself.”
“And how can I do that?” Green Key asked.
“Hold your own against me in a Turbo Duel, no holds barred.” Emerald replied.
“Deal.” Green Key stated, shaking Emerald’s hand, before the two went outside to start up their Duel Runners, and start the Duel.
