A Merpony's Adventure

Selene was cramped up in a train car with the elements of harmony and her twins. Princess Cadence was playing peek-a-boo with them as she was leaning against the wall. Twilight was reading over some books as Pinkie was bouncing around hyper as ever. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were busy watching the girls as Rarity was busy fixing some hats for them. Behind them in the other half of the car were guards and more merponies from Krill’s class. Skelly was sitting in front of Selene as she held a small Pegasus filly in her hooves. Selene flexed her fins as she opened her muzzle to speak. As she opened her muzzle Discord popped into the train with some confetti and cupcakes. He passed them out as his tail started to move behind him. Fluttershy was laughing as Selene closed her muzzle back. The twins started to get fussy causing her ears to go up as her fins flexed behind her. Twilight closed the book she was reading and walked over to the twins. They held their hooves up towards her causing her to smile. Selene pulled her spell allowing her tail to form. She curled it up looking it towards Twilight.

“You think they want to sleep?” she patted her tail as Twilight walked over and placed them down.

“I think I know what they need” Za moved from her seat as she pulled out the bag Twilight had packed. She pulled out some diapers and walked over to the twins. She started to change Celestial as Cadence showed Twilight how to change Dusk. The twins were blabbing away and waving their hooves at them. Twilight was watching as Za wrapped a cloth around Celestial’s tail while Cadence did a simple diaper on Dusk. After the twins were taken care of they curled up in Selene’s tail asleep. The merpony smiled as she draped one of her fins over them allowing them to have some privacy. Selene watched as Za gave Twilight a book full of notes on how to take care of a merpony. She turned and walked away as three little fillies walked over to Selene. Looking down she noticed the fillies from before.

“Hello” she smiled as Sweetie Bell spoke up first.

“So are they yours?” she pointed towards her tail where the twins were sleeping. Lifting her fin she allowed them to see the twins.

“Yes, they are. The colt is named Dusk Shine while the filly is Celestial Twilight” she smiled as the little ones looked towards them.

“They are so cute” Scootaloo spoke up as Applebloom nodded.

“Applebloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Bell, let those youngins sleep” Applejack fixed her Stenson as she placed it over her face. The train ride went from busy to quiet. Selene stayed in her normal form as the twins slept the whole way to Trottingham. Cadence got up and wrapped the twins up in some blankets before placing them each in a carrier under her wings.

“I’m doing this to keep them warm. Your healer Kibby will check on them when we board the ship” she smiled as Selene placed her spell on stretching her hooves out hearing a few pops from her joints. She followed as Skelly carried the bags along with the filly on her back. Her eyes were moving around the area as Selene started to shake with her eye twitched. She quickly bolted down the street past the guards, past Twilight and her friends and her aunts. She was a blur as she ran towards the docks where she found a heating lamp. Krill and Edan were already waiting for her. The other merponies followed suit as they were all huddled up around the heating lamp. Celestia and Luna came running up huffing red face.

“Oh Selene we forgot we're sorry” Luna was huffing. Selene was shaking as Luna pointed to a large ship that had two decks above water and with a small ramp leading from the dock to the deck. Selene quickly left the safety of the heater and got onto the ship with the other merponies in tow. She got under the deck where it was warm and most of the crew was staring in shock. Selene took a random room that she could find with a fireplace or a heater on it. She curled up against it as she heard some hooves walking towards the room. Celestia, Luna, and the others walked in noticing Selene’s nose was blue ice was formed on her fins. She was shaking as Celestia turned and looked towards Krill who was walking behind them.

“What happened to her?”

“This is what happens to merponies who are not from cold climates like me and Edan. They are cold-blooded like dragons and will freeze. But from what I know about the twins Dusk will be fine since he is warm-blooded. Celestial will half to be watched till Kibby can tell if she is cold-blooded or warm-blooded.”

“Wait merponies can be warm-blooded?” Luna spoke up as her head tilted to the side.

“Well, only those born with one parent being a surface pony and the other a merpony. They can be warm-blooded but that means they can not be in the warm waters of Maremuda or in any hot water or warm water for long periods. Selene will be fine just let her thaw” he turned and walked out of the room leaving the others. Selene was still curled spreading her fins out allowing the ice to melt slowly. She placed her head in her hooves as she closed her eyes. She didn’t open them till she heard some whistle and the twins pulling on her fins. Lifting her head up she stretched her tail out allowing them to have a source of food. She felt them snuggle up to her causing her to place her fin over them. She closed her eyes and allowed the motion of the ship to rock her to sleep. She didn’t wake up till Twilight and Cadence walked into the room with the twins on their back.

“I’m sorry” she let out a yawn as Twilight shook her head.

“You're still recovering and your need the rest” Cadence smiled as Twilight nodded. Selene got up and stretched her hooves and her fins.

“where are we?” she rubbed her neck as Twilight placed Dusk down on the floor.

“We are out of Equestria and just entered the warm waters of the Tropics. Edan has been directing the captain through a short cut to avoid the storms” She smiled as Selene had a grin on her face.

“Bring the twins and get others on the deck. I want to show you something my grandmother showed me” she smiled as she left the room. Selene slipped through the haul of the ship slipping past the deck hooves. Her ears twitched as she heard the others shouting for the evening service or the rooms to be ready. Getting to the dock she could see the moon was full into the sky blocking out the stars. Her tail and fins started to glow softly. Giggling Selene jumped from the deck and into the warm water around the ship. As she was swimming around the water Twilight went to the others sitting in the dining haul.

“Selene wants us all on deeeeccck….what is that” Twilight pointed to the porthole as something blue went by brightening up the area. The others noticed the light moving past the portholes. Krill got to his hooves and ran out of the room with the other merponies. Applebloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Bell ran out of the room causing the others to follow suit. Twilight forced her way through the haul and onto the deck. Once she was on deck she could see the water was glowing blue. It had dark blue lines with the fish each glowing the colors of their scales. Red and yellow fish were in a large school as another school of silverfish sawm by.

“Oh wow,” Luna spoke up as she walked on deck with her sister beside her. Cadence walked beside them after wrapping Celestial up in a blanket. Their eyes were glued to the water till they saw the large blue blur coming fast towards the ship.

“We're about to be hit!” The captain spoke up causing the deck hooves to rush towards the side. The blue blur disappeared into the deep before moving towards the surface. At this moment is when Selene jumped out of the water and over the boat. To the others, she was lager and longer than the boat itself. Her fins and her tail were glowing a soft blue while her fins had some purple glowing. Her mane was like Celestia’s and Luna’s as it flowed behind her acting more like water. She disappeared into the water causing the water to clear allowing them to see her. She sawm around the boat before moving her head out of the water. The twins squealed loudly as they held their hooves out towards her. Twilight and the others walked over to the side of the boat as Selene bent her head down staring at them. Her blue eyes were glowing softly allowing them to see the color move around as if water turning in a barrel.

“Oh my….Krill!” Skelly spoke up pointing her hoof up towards Selene “What the buck! Queen Roseate was not this bloody tall or large!” she broke the silence.

“Queen Roseate had control of her magic and power at that time as well!” Krill was looking up at Selene.

“How the hell do we get her back on the boat” Luna looked towards Ra and Za.

“We are not sure princess” the guards rubbed their necks as Twilight held dusk up causing Selene to lean her muzzle down. Dusk reached out and poked her muzzle giggling causing Selene to giggle. Her voice was harmonic as her fins spread out causing the sea to calm down. Fish were swimming around the boat as Selene looked towards the ponies.

“Krill? Did I give them the shells I made?” her voice was like a melody that the others were glued to.

“I made sure to pass them out. I believe your father will give the celestial sisters theirs when we arrive” he bowed as Selene tapped her chin nodding. She glanced down as she placed her muzzle in front of Twilight.

“would you and the twins like to go for a swim?” her eyes watched as Twilight nodded. She walked over towards Cadence picking up Celestial from her. Placing the twins on her back Twilight climbed onto Selene’s nose. She curled up in a circle placing the twins in the middle allowing them to rest. Selene moved from the ship as she slowly moved along the water keeping close to the ship.

“Is this safe” Celestia had her wings out as she watched Selene. Kirill walked over towards her and placed his hoof on her shoulder.

“It’s fine princess. As long as Twilight is around then they are safe. She can use her magic if they fall in”

“And from what I saw in the hospital they can breathe in water. So if they do fall in they will live” Kibby walked on deck rubbing her neck. She had her glasses on her muzzle as she looked towards Selene.

“Holy buck she larger than her grandmother” Kibby blinked as Selene moved back to the boat placing her head down. Twilight climbed off of her muzzle picking the twins up. Dusk and Celestial were squealing with delight as their hooves were aimed at Selene. She glanced down at the twins before pushing from the boat and swimming around. Her fins went up showing the different patterns that were on it. Twilight and the others were watching as Selene slowly moved around the ship. She folded her fins in as she calmed down staying in the water.

“Is it alright if she stayed in the water?” Twilight looked towards Krill who was nodding.

“Her magic is finally able to flow through her body at the moment. I bet by morning she will be back to normal” He smiled as Rainbow started to snicker.

“What is normal dude” she had a smile till her face was covered with milk. Dusk had his fins up as Celestial was clapping her hooves. Kibby looked towards the littler merpony. He let out a huff.

“Alright, you two it's bedtime” she waved her hoof as they stared at her. Kibby blinked once and they had disappeared. Celestia, Luna, and Discord all groaned. Twilight chuckled as she walked into the haul. Kibby followed as the captain was doing his best to get his crew back to normal. Edan went back to the wheelhouse as the others stayed to work on the sails. Selene watched as the twins appeared on her muzzle giggling. She smiled as she let out a yawn. She stayed near the top of the water allowing her muzzle and head to be poking out as she closed her eyes. The night went by smoothly as Discord stayed silently on the railing. He snickered a bit when he found the twins sleeping with her. He got up and walked into the haul tapping Twilight on the shoulder.

“I think you need to see this” he whispered in her ear before walking out of the haul. Twilight followed him as he pointed down towards Selene. Twilight leaned her head down and noticed the twins were sleeping on her muzzle.

“Thank you Discord” Twilight slipped herself over the railing and down into the water. She slipped her spell on as she moved towards Selene climbing on her muzzle and around the twins. The spirit of chaos wrapped himself around the railing keeping an eye on the family. The night uneventful as the crew kept an eye on the weather and the change in the air. Luna kept watching over the boat till her sister’s sun was breaking over the barrier. Celestia walked outstretching her wings noticing Discord was sleeping between the sails on a large pink cloud.

“Sister, will you be alright for tonight?” Celestia turned towards Luna who was nodding.

“I can do a rest spell to get my energy up.” She smiled as she looked up towards Discord “He has been their all-night”

“I can hear you Luna” Discord sat up as he looked over the edge of the cloud “Have you two found the twins?” he had a smile on his face watching the sisters freak out.

“I didn’t find them did you?”

“No, I thought you did” Discord let out a chuckle.

“Discord” Celestia narrowed her eyes as he pointed towards the railing. Both the sisters stared at each other before running towards the railing. Twilight and the twins were sleeping on Selene’s muzzle as she was floating along the side of the ship. Her eyes were closed but her fins were spread out keeping her balanced and aligned with the ship.

“They been there the whole night” he smiled as Celestia sighed. Luna shook her head as she looked towards her sister. Celestia bent her head down over the railing with a smile on her face.

“Twilight” she spoke up causing the purple unicorn to move with a groan. She rubbed her eyes as Celestia used her magic to pick up the twins from Selene’s muzzle. Twilight moved her head around noticing the twins were floating up towards the deck. Her cheeks started to turn red as she looked up at the princesses.

“Good morning sleepy head” Celestia smiled as Twilight teleported from her sleeping position as she blushed a bit.

“Good morning princess” Twilight pulled her spell as she blushed. Selene opened her eye as she looked up towards the princesses. Luna chuckled as she turned and walked into the haul. Celestia placed the sleeping twins on her back as she walked behind her sister.

“Would you care to join us for breakfast?” She smiled as she looked back towards Twilight. The purple unicorn blushed as she quickly followed them. As they were entering the haul Selene lifted her head up so she could see over the railing. She let out a yawn as she looked up towards Discord.

“You going to stay there all day?” she rubbed her eyes as he nodded.

“Why should I move?” he made a coconut appear in his claws as he placed a pair of sunglasses over his eyes “I can work on my tan now. What are you going to do?” he glanced down towards her as she smiled.

“I kind of got Krill to sneak a surfboard on the ship for me. I was going to surf a bit” she chuckled as Skelly walked out on the deck. Her ears went up as she walked towards the railing.

“Oh? Why didn’t you tell me we could surf here. Hang on” she disappeared from the deck as Discord leaned back on his cloud. He simply sipped on his drink as Skelly ran out carrying two boards. She tossed a long whiteboard into the water before jumping in with her greyboard. Selene moved towards the board pulling her spell on. She stretched her back hooves as she sat on the board. Skelly laughed as she climbed on her board.

“I thought you were going to watch your daughter?” Selene was pulling her mane up as she glanced over at the reaper.

“She learning from Kibby today” Skelly paddled herself away from the ship. Selene rolled her eyes as she followed the reaper. She placed her hoof in the water and created some waves for them.

“And you are sure she not going to pick up on Kibby’s personality?” Selene sat on her board as she watched the sea turn.

“It’s better than mine” she gave a grin as Selene nodded. She snickered as Skelly rolled her eyes. She turned her head back towards the waves and smiled “First one is mine” she started to paddle out as Selene laid out on her board. She watched as Skelly got up to her hooves as she got to the crest of the wave and started to ride it. Selene paddled out towards the second one. Turning around she waited till she got to the top of the wave and got to her back hooves. As she was riding the wave the cutie mark crusaders came on deck at the time.

“Hey look!” Scootaloo called out and pointed towards Selene and Skelly. Discord heard the shouting of the small fillies causing him to pull his shades down. His eyes glanced out and noticed the ponies were standing on the boards. He sat up as the other ponies were watching them. Skelly got shot up into the air screaming in joy. She landed in the water laughing. Discord climbed down from his cloud sipping on his drink. Celestia and Luna walked out with Twilight being pulled out by Rainbow Dash.

“What are they are doing and teach me!!” she was jumping up and down as Krill walked out fixing his mane.

“Hey, you two! You promised to wait for me to surf!” he cursed as Skelly climbed up on her board as Selene slid out of the wave.

“You were taking too long!” Selene chuckled as Krill huffed.

“What is surf?” Rainbow ran up to him.

“They are surfing. Basically, all you need is a flat board and a wave. You also need to know how to swim so when you fall off your board you won’t drown” Krill pointed to the merponies in the group. Skelly smiled as she got on her board heading towards another wave. Selene sat on her board watching in silence.

“You're going to wipe out again Skelly!” Selene shouted causing the reaper to growl at her. She bared her teeth as Selene through her hooves up in the air. Her fins went up as she turned her head towards the horizon. Just at that moment, Edan jumped from the wheelhouse with a smile.

“Islands!” she pointed towards the horizon as the three islands came into view. She glanced towards Twilight with a smile on her face.

“Go I will be right behind you” she smiled as Selene nodded. She jumped into the water allowing her magic to dispel.
