A Merpony's Adventure

Selene lifted her head up to meet the deck of the ship. Her eyes were blinking as she noticed Twilight was talking to her aunts. Blinking slowly she smiled as she blew some bubbles causing the twins to chuckle. This made Twilight turn around and stare at Selene.

“Do you want a ride to shore or are you going to take a boat?” she pointed to a small boat on the side of the larger boat. Twilight shook her head as she walked over climbing on top of her muzzle. Selene backed away from the boat and slowly made her way towards the Island of Solis. Once reaching shore Selene allowed Twilight to climb down to land before changing forms. Stretching her back legs she watched as Twilight placed the twins on her back.

“I will help signal the crew to land” she smiled leaving Selene and the twins on their own. Taking a deep breath she walked deeper into the island. Listening to the creatures and the birds squawk around them. it was silent as she walked into the village. She noticed white cloth along with the doorways. Taking a small sigh she walked towards a hidden path staying silent. Moving along the brush she used her fins to keep the twins on her back. she could hear chanting and singing as she came to a small pond where the villagers were singing and laughing. The elders were sitting with ponies wearing flower crowns. Selene moved closer stopping as she stepped on a stick-breaking it. The laughter died down as she came out into the open.

“Kiadre?” Elder Sol spoke up as she waved her hoof.

“Hika (Hello)” she smiled as Dusk started to cry causing her ears to stand on ends. She turned and looked towards Dusk. Celestial had his fin in her mouth. Selene sighed as she placed her wing down revealing the twins and their shenanigans.

“Skulls!” Elder Sol moved from his spot walking towards Selene.

“Skulls Yek. Laiken moon ak Sun wsjt Toola ksn village. (Children yes. Listen Moon and Sun with Twilight in Village)” Selene pointed back down the path as Elder Sol looked back towards the others. He started to shout orders pointing towards different areas. He walked over and picked up one of the twins smiling his wife Elder Kikka picked up the other walking around Selene. the merpony hung her head shaking it slowly. turning around she followed the two down the path as NiTa moved to her side.

“So names of skulls?”

“The boy is Dusk while the other is Celestial” Selene watched as the elders were smiling with the twins on their backs. As they entered the village Twilight was sitting with princesses around the fire pit.

“Toola!” Elder Sol shouted as he walked into the village. Celestia was startled as Twilight turned around and waved her hoof.

“Elder Sol come meet Princess Celestia” she smiled as NiTa walked over sighing knowing what tonight will be. Luna looked towards the water as she heard the sound of faint buzzing. Rainbow Dash flew past them first with Zita flying behind her. Celestia held her wings up.

“Changelings” she huffed as Luna shook her head. Elder Orion came walking up the shore holding a basket of grilled fish and different flowers.

“I saw ship. Kiadre must be home” he smiled his wings twitching.

“She is” Luna smiled as Elder Orion fluttered his wings.

“Moon you honor me and my kin” he smiled as he noticed Selene was sitting next to Twilight. Elder Sol was sitting with them holding Dusk as Kikka had Celestial.

“These must be lovely Skulls. Oh, they are so cute. Elder Sol plaake meka party? (Elder Sol please tell me party?)” Orion spoke up as Elder sol nodded his head.

“As long as there is grilled fish and some coco nudes I am happy” Selene huffed as she moved her shoulder. The elders started to laugh as Orion nodded his head.

“I have grilled fish. Will help the mares prepare coco Nudes” he placed the basket down bowing before walking off. Elder Sol pulled out some leaves placing a fish in front of each of them. Selene was drooling as Celestia stared at the fish than at her sister who was picking at it.

“When in Rome sister” she smiled as Celestia nodded as she picked at the fish as well. Selene was munching on the fish causing NiTa to stare.

“Don’t get fish on the mainland?”

“mostly flowers” Selene licked her lips as the children held their hooves up to Selene. the merpony noticed as they started to cry. Looking around she walked over to the covered gazebo allowing her magic to drop. Her tail was longer and her hair was floating around her. Twilight smiled as she picked up the twins bringing them to Selene. She allowed them to feed as the elders smiled and cooed at each of them. Twilight smiled as she sat back with them.

“Oh, I hope I say this right” Twilight huffed “Elder Sol. Cka wawke skulls wlair wke gkale Maremuda? (Elder Sol, can watch children while we go glide to Maremuda?)” Twilight smiled as Selene started to laugh while NiTa chuckled.

“What did I saw”

“I don’t think you can glide to Maremuda Toola. Fantjw cak wawke skuls wlair ahkt Maremuda? (Father can watch skulls while they Maremuda?)” NiTa spoke up as Elder Sol nodded and tapped her cheek.

“Island sucks” Elder Sol smiled as Selene let out a loud howl of laughter causing Twilight to glare back at her.

“Sushi!” she huffed causing Selene to stop and stick her tongue at her.

“We can look at skulls. Mares know best” NiTa smiled as the boats of Nightwalkers and Tree walkers appeared on land with the hunters coming into the village carrying a few boards. Celestia could only sit and stare as this was something she has never seen in her life. Ever. Glancing around she noticed that none of the islanders had cutie marks but symbols like Selene and Twilight.

“NiTa where are your cutie marks?” she bent her head down as NiTa tilted his head.

“Cutie marks?”

“Soul Marks or marks of gods” Selene pipped up as his mouth made an “O”.

“We don’t follow God's plans. We follow the earth. To busy trying to live and keep families alive. We work on anything and everything needed. Hunters hunt and fish. They also build. Fisher ponies fish and they also tend to the fields. The mares tend to children and the healing. We do roles that are needed to be filled. We don’t stick to one thing. Not needed” he shrugged as Celestia sat up.

“I wish many ponies that I rule over had your way of thinking. They are too focused on finding their cutie mark and then just working that forever. I have seen it make ponies happy and sad at the same time” she huffed till she got hit with the smell of roasting boar. She blinked as her sister moved from the firepit. Selene watched till she felt something moving towards them. her fins went up as she looked towards the sea. Twilight and the others took noticed as she wrapped her tail around the twins.

“Selene?”

“My family is here” once she spoke that Discord appeared beside her wearing a cop’s outfit. He huffed as King Triton and his wife Aurora walked on the shore bowing. Behind them, ten other male merponies followed holding gifts with them.

“May we join you?” King Triton looked at Celestia.

“Ask the elders” she used her hoof and pointed towards the two holding some grilled fish in their hooves. King Triton looked towards his daughter who looked down and away from him. Elder Sol hit his son in the leg causing NiTa to stare at his father. Elder Sol simply nodded his head towards the family.

“Father says fine. But stay near the ocean” NiTa watched as the mares brought in different plants while the stallions started to work on the fire. The area was quiet as the children were watching the twins sleep. The stallions and the mares were softly shouting orders before the others started to join them. Celestia stayed next to Discord as her sister was talking to Elder Orion while Selene and Twilight were talking to Elder Sol and Kikka about the twins.

“Kiadre yake skulls tken paekwns (Queen of Sea take children to parents)” Elder Sol pointed to the merponies sitting on the beach. Selene looked towards Twilight. Twilight noticed the uncertainty in Selene’s eyes. The merponie’s fins were down as she moved her gaze towards the twins.

“How about we take this one at a time” she smiled as Selene blinked.

“Sckae aken fmilak (Scared about family)” Selene huffed as the elder looked back towards the group. He sighed as he placed his hoof on hers.

“tien bkn akelf (it be alright)” he smiled as Selene nodded. She chuckled as she looked down at the twins. They were being contented by looking around just blabbing away. Selene leaned down towards the twins nuzzling them. picking the twins up she walked over to her parents sitting in front of them keeping a distance. Selene placed the twins down allowing them to play in the shallow pools of water.

“Selene how have you been” Triton smiled unsure of what to say to his daughter.

“Fine” Selene kept her eyes on the twins.

“Who are these darlings?” Aurora spoke up as Selene let a soft sigh out.

“They are mine” her fins twitched as she looked down. She was staying silent as Twilight walked over placing a hoof on her shoulder.

“Sister has kids” the brothers started to shout causing Selene to look at Twilight.

“Can you watch the twins?” her voice was soft causing the unicorn to nod. Selene got up from her spot and walked towards the water before slipping into it. Twilight watched as Selene disappeared into the water causing her to sight. Picking the twins up she walked back towards the elders as they were shaking their heads. NiTa walked over and looked at Twilight.

“Kiadre not happy. The water to choppy” he pointed towards the sea as Twilight sighed.

“You know her past. Not a very good home life. I think she feels that her family only wants to see her because of the curse and the kids” she shook her head as NiTa placed an “O” on his face before walking to the shore. Placing a board on the water he waited till the sun was set. As the moon was rising in the sea he noticed where Selene went. Climbing on the board he pushed himself away from the shore just in time to hear Celestia shout in surprise. Following the trail of light, he found Selene in the middle of the ocean drifting around.

“Kiadre there you are” NiTa sat on the board as Selene looked over at him. she sighed as she had released her magic. Placing her muzzle under his board she picked him up sighing.

“Did Toola send you?”

“She told us feelings. You okay?” he looked down as Selene glanced towards the water.

“I feel like they only came to make a good impression” she huffed as NiTa looked down towards her.

“You know island is home.”

“I want island to be home. Want elder to be parents” she had tears in her eyes as NiTa placed his hoof against her muzzle.

“Go to Maremuda. Do what you need to do. Then come home” he smiled as Selene nodded before smiling softly. She placed her head down towards the water moving back to the island. Most of the villagers were watching the sun have a panic. Celestia was on the shore yelling at Luna as Selene moved closer to shore.

“Luna move the moon!”

“I will not set the moon!”

“Luna the moon is too close!”

“What is going on here” Selene spoke up as she leaned her head down allowing NiTa to climb off with his board.

“Luna here has the moon to close and”

“To close?” Selene looked behind her noticing the moon was just as bright and large as it normally is “That is how the moon has always been” she turned around as Celestia stared at her with pinpricks in her eyes. Luna waved her wing in front of her sister.

“We broke my dear sister” Luna chuckled as Selene rolled her eyes. Placing her magic back on Selene walked towards the middle of the village smelling roasting pork causing her mouth to drool. Walking towards Twilight she noticed a piece of snout waiting for her. Turning behind her she raised her hoof in the air and yelled “Panrk! (party)” that made the others go wild as they passed out the food. Selene stayed near Twilight as they watched the others dance and sing throughout the night. Celestia was sitting with a few mares trying the pork. You could tell it was her first time as you could see it in her eyes. Luna was laughing as Elder Orion was watching in silence. As the party wore on Twilight slipped from the party for a breather. She walked along the shore noticing Discord was sitting on a log reading a book.

“Good book?” she spoke up as Discord looked down towards her.

“The effects of chaos magic mixed with elemental magic” he closed the book as he looked down at her “I’m on the chapter of where chaos magic was mixed with shadow magic to create the umbra or what Sombra was”

“I didn’t know you were a scholar”

“Father hated the fact that I was a scholar and wanted to learn. I was never like my older sister who loved to fight”

“And I wish I was like you” Aurora spoke up as she sat beside him “I wanted to be noticed by father as a mother only wanted me to wear dresses and girly things. Father was always spending his time with you and mother loved Celestia and Luna.” Aurora sighed.

“Well I guess we both got the short end of the stick” he huffed as he fixed the glasses he was wearing on his muzzle.

“After this is all over how about I sit with you and go over some magical theory?” he smiled as Twilight nodded.

“That sounds lovely” she smiled as she looked out towards the sea. Her ears flattened against her head making Discord take notice.

“Worried?”

“That is an understatement” she huffed as his eyebrows raised a bit shocked.

“Well, well, well somepony is coming out of her nerdy shell”

“I’m scared” Twilight moved her hooves “I am scared that once she enters that sea she will not come back the same or at least whole” she moved her eyes up towards Discord.

“My dear she will come back. do you know that anything that you say is put out into the universe”

“That is bull”

“It is true Twilight” Aurora smiled “If you put anything out in the open the universe can hear it and it will happen. However if you put it out there after a question then the universe can not hear it” she smiled as Discord nodded.

“The old mad king of the draqconsos, no the draconsos, Oh whatever I am” Discord let out a loud huff “Was wise in his crazed old ways Twilight.”

“Too crazy for my taste” Aurora huffed as Discord rolled his eyes as he waved his paw towards her.

“Yes listen to the fish from the sea” he smiled as Aurora looked towards him.

“I still have father’s day breaker” she smiled as Discord’s eyes turned to pinpricks gulping. Twilight just watched in silence before turning her head towards the party. Selene was walking with the twins on her back. the others were still partying wild.

“Having fun?” Twilight smiled as Selene let out a loud yawn.

“I’m tired” she groaned as Twilight smiled.

“How about we retire to the hut they made for us?” she smiled as she walked along the shore. Selene nodded as she followed Twilight. The hut was roomy as part of it was on land while half of it was in the water. The hut was bare but with a flash of light, it was filled. A large bed sat on land with smaller cribs for the twins were beside it. Pillows filled the hut as some were waterproof causing Selene to stare at them.

“You created a large bed to sleep tonight” she smiled

“Well, it seemed fair for us to have something to sleep in” Twilight smiled as Selene turned red. She placed the twins down in their little cots before crawling on the bed relaxing her magic. Twilight noticed her tail draped off the bed and down into the water.

“Is that going to be okay?” Selene sat up as she moved her tail around the base of the bed.

“A bit but what can I do?” she looked at Twilight as she crawled in beside her.

“True” Selene let out a short chuckle before burying her head into the pillows. Twilight did the same as the sound of partying continued outside the hut. As the party raged on Elder Sol noticed Selene and Twilight were missing. He tapped his son on the leg and pointed around.

‘” They must went to sleep. Long day” Elder nodded as he smiled. He pointed to his hut as NiTa bowed.

“I will stay and watch over the party” he smiled as Elder Sol nodded. The party raged on into the late hours as ponies dropped where they were sleeping as the fire died out. Some made it back to the ship to rest while others just cuddled with each other for warmth. Luna was the only one up. She was a busy dream of walking and making sure ponies were soundly sleeping before raising the sun.
