A Merpony's Adventure

Twilight had seven books floating around her as she was moving from one to another. Her friends and the princesses showed up as Twilight was staring at different books. Celestia shook her head as the others simply stared.

“Study mode has activated” Pinkie smiled as the others groaned. Star rolled her eyes as she looked towards the group.

“Look grab a book and start looking. We need to find the curse King Midas used during the time of the plague. Any book on the ground me and Twilight have been through” Star pointed towards the tower of books along the floor causing the others to groan.

“How far of a head start did you two have?” Rainbow spoke up.

“Not long some pony is going all out.”

“Why” Applejack moved in as Luna nodded.

“We were in my cave making the potion that would cure Selene. That is when Selene and the witch showed up. I was able to get us to a hiding spot so they wouldn’t see us but I think Selene did. They got talking and apparently the witch was a healer cursed by King Midas. If we can find the curse then I might have a cure” Star smiled as the others looked at each other.

“You're going to go with the words of a sea witch?” Applejack spoke up as Star shook her head.

“Well kind of, but I need proof that King Midas was a ruler. I know that a Mad king ruled at one point but that was when a revolution and a plague was going on” Star buried her head into her book causing the others to stare. They groaned as they started to dig into the books. As they dug into the books the night wore on as the kingdom started to settle down. Luna could feel the moon sitting high in the sky.

“It’s midnight” she spoke up as Star let out a yawn. Twilight’s ears go up as she placed the books down.

“Star remember they said they were going to come to the kingdom now”

“Hide now” Star pushed them into different corners of the room as she hit on top of a bookshelf with Fluttershy and Pinkie. Each of them were slowly counting down the minutes till they noticed the shadows were moving. Selene was the first to fall out of it before Sapphire followed behind her.

“You need more training” her voice was rough as Selene pushed herself off the floor.

“If we find the cure I won’t need it” Selene snapped as she rubbed her head. her eyes were still sunken in but her ribs showed just a little bit.

“Yes well it looks like some pony got here before us”

“It looks like it. Father is the only one who could get in here”

“Let's just look” the witch appeared behind her as she started to move through the books tossing them to the ground in a huff. Sapphire did the same as Selene stayed near the door listening for anything. Selene watched as they ransacked the vault tossing the books to the side till Sapphire came to one.

“Found something”

“Read it” the witch ordered as Sapphire nodded.

“King Midas or the Mad King lost his mind when he contracted the plague. He grew weary of the healers as they were trying to do their jobs. Thought they were after his magic. One day he gathered them inside the castle and that was it. It was said that the healers joined the revolution and moved out to deeper sea with the sea ponies leaving Maremuda without healers” Sapphire looked up as the witch groaned.

“keep searching” the witch huffed as they started to go through the rest of the books hitting the scrolls.

“Found it” the witch held the scroll up causing Selene to notice the trident on the front “Yes the potion to cure us” the witch smiled as Selene rubbed the back of her neck.

“Do we need that trident on the front?” this made them look at her before turning it around. It was a large silver trident with sapphires on it.

“Well yeah why?” Sapphire crossed her hooves.

“That was my father’s trident. The same Trident that we broke when Star used it against us” Selene smiled as they both looked towards her.

“Were fucked”

“Isn’t there another way?” Selene groaned as the witch looked towards Sapphire.

“Do we have any Faust tears?”

“No, we lost them when the earthquake hit. Many ponies were severely injured trying to help the little ones” she shook her head as the witch grabbed Selene by her arm.

“Sapphire tell them we move tonight. Capture the guards if you have to injure than injure. If we can not return to normal then we will make them like us” she growled as she watched Sapphire move through the shadows first. Star waited and jumped on the witch causing a ruckus in the vault. Selene moved as she noticed the others holding the witch down.

“No go for Selene” Star pointed towards the frightened merpony.

“Run you idiot” the witch growled as Selene heard her father’s voice coming down the hall as the Witch started to growl.

“She losing her san” Selene stopped as the witch disappeared. Selene’s eyes turned black as she let out a low growl. Her teeth changed to sharp points as she pushed the others off. Twilight rubbed her hooves but stopped as she noticed the gem around her hoof. Pulling the bracelet off it changed back into a sword. Selene turned her back as she noticed her father. Growling she opened her mouth revealing fangs.

“We’re under attack!” the guard yelled sending another to grab the others. Selene tossed Star from her back causing her attention to be on her and not the guard. A mistake that would cost her dearly. The guard pulled his sword from his sheath and stabbed Selene in the gem cracking it. She let out a loud scream as the water around them went calm and cold. Selene fell to the ground her eyes were closed causing the guard to back up leaving the sword in the gem. The other guards came rushing as King Triton looked at them.

“Get her to the dungeons now! I do not want a single guard near her once she is locked away. Me and the queen or the princes will take her food” he watched as the guards stared at him “Now!” he shouted causing the guards to pick her up and carry her off. Star stood up as the king sighed shaking his head.

“What will happen to her now?” Celestia spoke up as Triton fixed his mane.

“I will call the council to order. To see if we want to dismantle her gem and end her life or not” he looked towards Celestia who was shocked.

“Is there no other” Triton held his hoof up.

“Celestia the order in the sea goes like this. The sea ruler or who has the gem. They're mate if they have one then their children. then it’s the council and then each king or queen” he growled before turning around stopping for a moment “I will let the guards allow you to see her.” He disappeared as Star brushed her tail off.

“Well, now what?” Applejack spoke up as Star smiled.

“Well, we go see Selene. see if the witch has her sanity. Apparently from what I saw, she goes insane when a pony from Maremuda is around. However, we still have the upper hoof” she smiled as she looked towards Twilight.

“Oh no we are not sending my student alone” Celestia growled as Star shook her head.

“No we will all see Selene. But Triton said that below Selene was her mate. Twilight is Selene’s mate. She has her colors and the royal gems to be decorated in. Twilight’s word is the law we just half to show it. Now, where is your trident?” Star noticed Twilight was staring at her.

“What trident”

“Oh boy. Okay for now Pinkie finds Ra and Za and tells them to get Skelly and the jewels. For now, let’s go see Selene. the dungeons were dimly lit causing them to stay against the walls. The guards were missing as Selene was laying on the floor her eyes barely open.

“I smell lavender and vanilla mixed with apples and spice” her voice was weak as she pushed herself off the ground. Twilight was silent as Celestia moved towards the bards.

“Selene?”

“Seaglass that is my name. Selene is out cold due to the sword in the gem”

“The council is being called”

“They want to dismantle her gem” she huffed as Celestia and Luna nod “Well we're fucked” she chuckled a bit.

“Do you know anything about the council?” Luna spoke up as Seaglass nodded.

“I was the court healer during the time of the plague. I know what the mad king did. But I went to plenty of council meetings. You're screwed since Selene has no mate”

“But I am her mate” Twilight spoke up as Seaglass looked towards her.

“So you’re the one she wanted me to stay away from. She didn’t tell me you were her mate. I thought it was weird that a normal merpony has its own trident” she smiled as Twilight looked at her.

“I don’t have a trident”

“Your bracelet. It's part of the sea gem that is on my back. Did Selene ever tell you that it can transform into what you want? A sea ruler gives a chunk of gem to their mate. Plus if you going to a council meeting I do have a right for trial” she smiled as Twilight looked up towards her teacher.

“Can you promise you won’t lose your sanity?”

“As long as I can not smell merponies from this kingdom then yeah.” She smiled as her teeth were normal.

“We will see” Celestia turned and walked out of the dungeon leaving Twilight alone with Selene and Seaglass.

“Need something?” she moved closer to the bars looking down at Twilight.

“She not asleep is she?”

“No. she scared about what her aunts would say. She was scared that they would end up hating her. Would you like to speak to her?” she watched as Twilight nodded. The witch pulled back allowing Selene to sink to the floor leaning her head against the bars.

“Twilight? Why are you here and not with Celestia and the others?” her voice was soft as Twilight sat on the floor leaning up against the bars.

“I wanted to speak to you”

“I’m sorry”

“You will make it through this” Twilight reached in and grabbed her hoof. Selene held her hoof as she closed her eyes drifting off to sleep. Twilight looked down at her tail sighing. She took a deep breath before holding it. Tapping the shell she allowed her back legs to appear. Calming her mind she used her magic to create her tail causing it to be longer than normal while her gills formed causing her to release her breath. Shaking her head she pushed her mane back before leaving the dungeon. Her friends were staring at her as she came out of the dungeon.

“Twilight” Celestia spoke up as she smiled.

“Krill taught me this spell in the crystal empire. I don’t like the spell as it makes me look different than you all. I just wanted to somewhat look normal with a tail.” Kibby came rushing with a box in her hooves while Skelly was following her.

“Twilight! Krill needs you and everyone at the council meeting now!” Skelly pulled the gems out decorating Twilight “apparently the nobles are wanting to pull the peace treaty thinking you all are the cause for the attack. Krill wants to use this to introduce you all to the council and nobles thinking it will calm them down” Kibby spoke up as Celestia looked towards Luna.

“You always had a way with nobles dear sister” Luna smiled as she followed Kibby down the halls. Skelly pushed the elements as Twilight pulled the bracelet off changing it into a trident sighing. Her heart was beating in her chest as she gripped the trident before being pulled into the large open throne room as Krill was at the back waiting for them. Twilight and the others were busy noticing the killer whales sitting at the top with the blue whales and humpback whales. Sharks with papers were moving back and forth quickly as the jellyfish were sitting below them with the squids were hanging from the ceilings. The nobles were the only ones sitting in front of Triton and the other elders. Krill went forward to the open floor and smiled.

“Council, elders I was going to wait till tomorrow to introduce these nice ponies. But with things at the matter I”

“Get on with it” the nobles snapped causing the elders to glare. Krill stood up and bowed.

“May I introduce to you all Princess Celestia ruler of Equestria, owner of the sun above and the sister to Queen Aurora” he pointed to princess Celestia as she moved forward bowing “The next pony is Princess Luna ruler of Equestria, owner of the moon above and sister to Queen Aurora” Luna came forward bowing. The others were whispering to each other as Celestia and Luna moved over to Triton and Aurora “Next are the heroes of Equestria the keepers of Harmony Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, and Rarity” he pointed to the elements as they entered the area leaving Twilight by herself. They moved towards Triton “Last but not least. She is the last hero of Equestria keeper of harmony. Student to the sun and she is the mother to the children of the sea and the mate to Selene who is the current holder of the sea gem. May I introduce to you all Princess Twilight Sparkle” Krill bowed as Twilight entered the room. the nobles were whispering as the others were watching.

“This can’t be!” a pufferfish stood up causing Triton to shake his head “That…that thing couldn’t have been possible” he was stopped as Twilight smiled pointing her trident at him. She was taking a play out of Rainbow Dash’s book and going for it.

“That thing is my mate. That thing as you call it has a name. and from what I understand has a right to be here for this trial as well” she titled her head trying to pull anything from her flank. The pufferfish started to pipe up but was stopped. One of the elders started to laugh.

“About time some pony put him in his place. Lord Puffer sit down and shut up. I do believe I like this merpony” an elder pufferfish smiled as the others let out a chuckle “Very well some pony go and get the prisoner”

“Make sure she has something over her nose. The witch seems to lose her mind when smelling those of Maremuda” Twilight held her hoof up allowing others to see her trident.

“So Triton when did you want to tell us your daughter has a mate? And a mother?” one of the octopuses moved just above Triton.

“Selene just gave birth months ago. Twins and they are so cute” Aurora smiled as the others were whispering.

“So she is the father of sea, not the mother” one of the elders pipped up as more nodded.

“Brother Krill you did not tell us you knew the ruler of the sea. You did not tell us the mate would be a looker as well. Are all the ponies on the surface like this because if so? I can see where Triton got his taste from” the larger humpback whale smiled towards Celestia who was blushing at this.

“Princesses this is my brother Dill. He is the one who has been taking my spot in the council while I worked on the sanctuaries on land”

“Sanctuaries? Brother please you only have one for merponies to use and it is now in the frozen wastelands”

“Not true we have two. One in the Crystal Empire and one in Canterlot attached to the castle. Also, merponies are allowed to rest in my Aquarium when needed as well”

“You have pets?”

“No. I teach history and ocean life on land. I have a large place that holds fish allowing surface ponies to see them and to learn about them. it has helped with the litter in the ocean I’ve noticed” Krill smiled till the doors opened up. The guards were dragging Selene in as she was lethargic while the sword in her gem was still protruding from her gem. She had a wrap covering her nose as the guards moved her to the middle where she could sit allowing the others to see her.

“What is your name?”
