A Merpony's Adventure

“What is your name?” one of the elders spoke up causing her to look up allowing the others to see her sunken eyes.

“Seaglass” her voice was soft as she was panting hard.

“Seaglass now that is a name” one of the elders spoke up as the merpony nodded.

“I was around the time of King Midas or the mad king. I am or was the last witch alive that has the original curse or the plague given to them by the king. The others are born with the plague thanks to him” she hissed as a merpony elder stood up.

“I know you now. You were the main healer for the court. You disappeared when the mad king was discovered dead” he growled as Sea nodded.

“We were kicked out of the kingdom a day before. What happened to him was none of our business” she huffed.

“Then tell me was Selene a healer?”

“No, she was just the first pony I ran into” she chuckled a bit as Celestia moved forward.

“What do you mean?” she spoke up causing a bunch of them to look at her. But Celestia was used to it as she ran her court.

“That night I was sound-minded and snuck into the castle. I was looking for a cure to this plague. I was tired of watching the younger generation lose their minds when moving too close to Maremuda when searching for food. I was tired of seeing the young ones die for something that is out of their hooves. I was able to get into the castle and was about to get to the royal wing till I ran into her. When I smell a merpony from Maremuda that is when we lose our minds. I instantly lost my mind but I did not think she was under a protection spell from the old queen Roseate. Her spell and mine mixed and it drew my soul into her as a curse” Seaglass looked up and noticed the elders sitting back.

“I didn’t think the mad king would actually do that” the elder puffer looked towards his peers.

“That is a load of sea kelp!” one of the nobles yelled as they moved towards the sea witch pulling the mask from her nose. The guards tried to stop the elder but too late. The sea witch let out a loud growl as her eyes shifted to full black. Most of the merponies moved towards the walls as you could hear the other guards shouting. Ponies were screaming as other witches were gathering ponies up. Selene held her hoof out to the elders.

“Unless you have a cure then we will take over” she growled as Triton held his new trident up. Twilight got between them holding her trident up.

“Selene please” she called out causing the witch to turn her back. Star appeared pulling the sword from Selene’s back causing her to growl.

“Roseate!” one of the elders shouts causing Selene to turn around. Holding her trident up they started a fight. Twilight watched as Star and Selene were swinging around their weapons trying to harm the other. Her eyes noticed the crack in the gem. Looking to her trident she remembers the words “that was a part of the gem” turning around she looked at her friends.

“I need your help” she held her trident up “I think I have the cure right here” she pointed to the trident. Applejack nodded as Fluttershy joined them.

“Well if we can get this dreadful fight over”

“Aww I wanted to see who wins”

“Yay! We can have a party!” Pinkie Pie shouted. Each of them grabbed ahold of the trident causing the ends to glow different colors. Star saw what they were doing and pushed the sea witch closer. Once they were closer Twilight and her friends stabbed the trident into the gem. Once the trident touched the gem a light filled the room causing them to shield their eyes. The light spread out to the kingdom changing the witched back to their original healer state. The light even made it to the trenches blasting the darkness away as the rest of the ponies returned to normal. Most of the healers had long green tails with herbs wrapped around their waist and manes.

Twilight and her friends opened their eyes noticing the gem on Selene’s back had changed. It was no longer round but in a teardrop shape with silver trim in the shape of waves around it. Her tail was longer with blue and green scales. she had purple scales along with the fins while her hair was moving around her.

“Selene!” Twilight moved towards her. She noticed she was breathing softly as her eyes were closed “Selene” she shook the merpony hoping she would wake up.

“She not waking up” she looked around as the healers entered the room causing the elders to sit up. When they noticed Selene they moved in pushing Twilight away trying different herbs and potions talking amongst themselves. Watching them work was like watching sharks move in on a feeding frenzy. After a few moments, they backed up allowing her to sink to the floor.

“We can’t wake her up” they looked towards the king “Please don’t curse us” they were huddling together as Triton shook his head.

“Just” he was deflated as Twilight moved down and picked Selene up. She turned around as she looked at Krill.

“What should we do?” her voice was wavering as he looked towards Kibby.

“Kibby?”

“I’ll take the healers and teach them how to heal merponies properly. If some want to follow me to the surface then that’s that. For Selene? who knows when she will wake up” Kibby moved towards Twilight and Selene “I don’t want to leave her here and I don’t want to take her on land”

“What about the islands? Elder Sol can watch her” Fluttershy spoke up before disappearing behind Rainbow shaking.

“That is a smart idea. The islanders can watch and protect her” Krill smiled as Twilight nodded.

“Thank you Fluttershy” Twilight smiled as Krill looked around and noticed Ra and Za hiding in a corner.

“Ra, Za you two are faster than anyone of us. Can you get her to the island?” he watched as he nodded. Ra picked up Selene in his hooves before moving from the castle. Triton looked over at Celestia and pulled out the peace treaty. He signed the bottom of his before handing it over to her.

“Let's get this over with” he sighed as Celestia nodded. Twilight watched as Ra and Za disappeared from her sight causing her to sigh.

“Krill?” Triton spoke up as he rolled his copy of the peace treaty up. Celestia was holding her copy “can you show them to the surface?” Krill nodded as he started to swim out of the castle with the elements and the princesses following him. the trip was silent till they got to the surface. Ra and Za were sitting on the shore waiting for the others. Twilight walked up onto shore dropping her magic. the villagers were sitting around pretty quietly as the others walked up on land the magic wrapped around them disappearing. The twins were the only ones laughing and giggling. Twilight walked over to the twins looking down at their happy faces. She pulled them into a hug as Celestia walked up to NiTa.

“What will you do?”

“We wait. We watch.” He waved them on as he walked them through the village to a hidden path. Carrying the twins Twilight followed as they moved towards a large hidden pond with a small waterfall entering the large pond. Elder Sol and Kikka were sitting around the pond placing flowers on the water surface. Looking in they noticed Selene was sleeping on a bed of kelp with a blanket over her tail.

“Kiadre sleeping place. We will wait and watch” NiTa sighed as Celestia lit her horn up causing the rim of the pond to light up.

“I placed a spell on it to let me know if she wakes up. We can send supplies every month to help you and the others out” she watched as Elder Sol nodded.

“We half to change. Kiadre won’t help anymore” he sighed as he turned around showing them back to the office. Celestia and the others moved towards the shore where the boats were waiting for them.

“What will we do now sister?” Luna spoke up as they moved towards the boat.

“Help her. And make sure Discord doesn’t lose his mind”

“Did some pony say my name” he appeared before the sisters “Oh you two look down? Who gave you two hell that is my job” he huffed as he crossed his arms.

“Selene is asleep.”

“So wake her up! Uncle Discord wants to see her” he smiled as Luna shook her head.

“She won’t wake up. Twilight and the others were able to cure the curse but she won’t.” Celestia looked at Discord as she had tears in them “I knew her for a short time but I did not want to lose another family member. I wanted to know her more” her voice was sullen as Discord looked towards them.

“So let's take her with us” he looked towards them his heart sinking in his chest.

“She going to stay here with the islanders. The Elders will watch over her as she sleeps” Luna walked past him joining her sister. Discord melted to the deck. The ride home for them was sullen and quiet. Once home Discord threw himself into babysitting the twins as well as teaching. The girls were living their lives and saving Equestria when needed. Hours turn to days and days turned to months. Luna and Celestia took turns coming to the island and checking on Selene. She had neither moved or open her eyes. Around the fourth month after Celestia left the island Selene had opened her eyes.

She jolted up panting as she looked around. She was laying on a bed of kelp causing her to glance down. Her eyes drifted over her tail as it was longer than before. It was also mixed with green and blue scales. She still had that one white stripe running down her side. Flexing her fins she noticed they had some purple around the base. Moving from the bed she swam down the river. Once she was out in the sea she could feel it all. She could feel the fishes moving around as the sharks chased them. she could feel the movements of the islanders above her. Her heart was pounding as she moved to the surface. The sun was slowly setting for the day as she dragged herself onshore. Pushing her mane out of her face she walked up on land noticing the villagers were gone causing her panic. Moving her ears she heard chanting causing her to glance out to the middle of the sea. boats were gathered in the middle causing her to rush back to the sea. She was panting as she rushed towards the middle of the sea. As it turned darker her scales and fins started to glow as she moved closer. Looking up she could see they were gathered in a circle. Finding the boat NiTa was on she popped her head out of the water. Most of them were staring at her.

“Kiadre” Elder Sol smiled as he stood on aboard by himself. He was not looking too good causing Selene to move towards him.

“Elder?” she tilted her head as she moved closer.

“Tike (time)” he smiled causing her ears to flatten behind her. She laid her head on the board as he patted her head.

“I shokea spke tok sun (I should stop other sun)” she rubbed her eyes as he let out a chuckle as the moon moved up from the horizon. She turned and watched as the light from her tail trail off as spirits started to walk across the sea. Selene turned her head and watched as Elder Sol placed his hoof on the water. His body faded away as his soul walked over to the others and joined them on their walk. Many of the elders stood up watching as the others bowed. Selene watched as NiTa walked from his boat towards the board as Selene turned her head towards him.

“Kiadre meet onshore. Must talk” he turned the board around as the islanders returned to the island of Sun. Selene followed them pulling herself onshore taking a spot on a plank of large driftwood. She watched as the others were getting the fire going as the elders walked towards her. Selene had noticed the lines on her hooves causing her to look down at her chest and stomach. As she noticed NiTa walking closer her fins opened up.

“NiTa what happened. Elder Sol looked fine yesterday”

“Kiadre Sol health declined over months”

“Oh if I knew I would have stayed closer. I wouldn’t have made plans to leave for surface” she blinked as NiTa looked towards Elder Orion.

“Kiadre what do you remember?” he sat beside her as Selene looked around. she then looked down.

“I was planning on leaving for the surface. My brothers were throwing a party so I wanted to leave then. I thought I left but I guess I stopped here for a bit” she smiled as she held her hooves up “Elder Sol must have given me markings” she smiled as tears were in her eyes. NiTa sighed as he shook his head.

“When do they appear again?”

“Getting close. Got letter, the sun coming this time” NiTa whispered as he looked towards Selene “Kiadre” he smiled walking closet towards her.

“Yes Elder NiTa” she smiled as he shook his head.

“We get visitors soon. Want you here to help. Sun coming to visit” he smiled as Selene’s ears went up.

“I get to see the sun” her fins moved behind her.

“Yes,” he nodded as Selene clapped her hooves.

“I’ll stay in the pond. Will be onshore every day to help” she smiled as NiTa nodded while one of the villagers brought the head of the boar. Placing it down between them they separated it for them. Selene smiled as she picked up her piece of the boar.

“To Elder Sol”

“To Elder Sol” they raised their pieces in the air before taking a bite. the night went on perfectly. Many were celebrating the life of Elder Sol as Selene stayed on the beach thinking about stuff. Sighing she moved from the shore back into the sea. She moved to the place she woke up at curling up on the kelp.
