Raine X Rici Estrela

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Author's Note

This is my guilty pleasure crack ship... please don’t judge me. I don’t really ship their parents but I just can’t help myself.

Raine is the daughter of Prism Bolt and Whirlwind.

Rici Estrela is the daughter of Starburst and Hot Head.

Also Estrela is Galician for star. Love the word it roles off the tongue so easily!

Raine X Rici Estrela

Rain pattered down furiously in Ponyville, umbrellas popping up all over. A purple umbrella hurried along quickly, pushing past people splashing into the puddles. Raine Bolt grinned as she jumped into the puddles, dancing about. I love the rain. she thought happily as she raised her head letting raindrops splash onto her face. It was a bit of an ironic thing to say considering her name but nevertheless it made her smile. She crossed the road, closing her umbrella as she stopped outside of a red door on a large house. The distant sound of music stopped abruptly as the beat of footsteps neared the door.

“Hey!” Rici opened the door smiling shyly as Raine stepped in, whipping her boots on the plastic rug.

“Nice music you have playing there.” Raine said as she hung her coat on the rack. “Hello? Mrs Sentry?”
Her voice echoed in the house as she pulled off her boots.

“Where are your parents?”

“Mom went out to Canterlot for the weekend to visit my Grandmother and my dad tagged along. He wanted to “spend time with his amazing wife”. Rici made a face and Raine laughed making her face turn bright red.

“Code for “sex”.”

The girls made their way to the kitchen and Rici poured them some hot chocolate.

“Cold outside?” Rici asked noticing Raines blue lips. Her face turned a light shade if red again. Stop staring at her lips!

“Yeah a bit. Doesn’t affect me though! You know I love the rain.” She followed Rici upstairs into her room. As Raine sat on her desk chair, she noticed Rici’s bra hanging over her laundry basket. She smiled a small smile, but snapped back into reality when Rici collapsed onto her bed grabbing her electric guitar and strummed a chord.

“Wrote a new song lately?”

“Eh... haven’t really had any inspiration.”

Raine twirled around in her desk chair and spotted a sheet of music.

Crying in the Raine

I see you walking,
Wish I was talking with you
Yet I’m sitting in the corner
Of the coffee house

Thinking why aren’t I good-

“HEY!” Rici snatched the paper out of her hand, her face redder than apples. “Y-you can’t go off looking at my music! It could contain some.... some X-rated words.” She finished meekly.

“Ok Rici... sorry. I didn’t think that you would get so upset.”

Rici sat back on the bed and a long, awkward silence overtook the girls.

“I’m sorry Raine. It’s just... well....”

“You can tell me anything Rici. We’re best friends!” Raine sat next to Rici and grabbed her hand. Rici pulled her hand out of her grasp. Raine’s face flickered with hurt but didn’t say anything.

“Well... I don’t...I feel... AUGH OK, RAINE YOU WIN. I LIKE YOU OK? I HAVE ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR MY STRAIGHT FRIEND AND I’M DISGUSTED AT MYSELF, I’M SORRY, I’M SO SO- MPH!” Rici’s voice was cut off as Raine pressed her lips against hers.

“Don’t ever talk like that about yourself ever again ok?” Raine’s eyes were filled with tears. “I like you to ok? You shouldn’t be disgusted. Your amazing Rici ok?”

Rici nodded and sniffles whipping tears.

“So. So you like me too?” Rici asked shyly.

“Yeah I do. And I’m not straight. I’m bisexual.”

“...what do you think our dads are going to say about this.” Rici asked. They then both burst into hysterics and kissed each other again. Rici’s lips tingled for the second time and she adored the after feel; it felt like being on a sugar high. Weightless and giddy.

“Also... that song that I wrote. It was a love song for you.”

“Can I hear it?” Asked Raine. “Wait... are we official? Do we need to DTR?”

“DTR? I don’t know what that means but... we can be official if... if you want to.” She said quietly.

Raine smiled widely and pulled her in for a hug.

“Alright that song!”

Rici pulled her guitar onto her lap and started to sing.

Of the coffee house
Thinking why aren’t I good enough
Standing here in the rain,rain,rain!
Crying in the rain,rain,rain

As Rici sang, Raine listened intently watching her slim fingers ,rough with callouses, dance over the guitar strings. Her face was an open book of emotions, even though she was wearing a soft smile that showed happiness. Her eyes sparkled (as they usually did when she played music) and shut themselves opening them just check she was playing the right chord. As she was finishing, Raine moved closer to her and rested her head on Rici’s small shoulders.

“Thanks for that. And I mean everything.” She whispered.

“Your welcome. You were worth the wait.”

Rici turned around and gently kissed her new girlfriend.

“Can we go and tell the rest of our friends.”

Raine smiled wide. Rici wasn’t much of a social person and for her to want to go out and announce it was a way of telling Raine, that Rici trusted her.

“Let’s do it.” The girls ran downstairs and put their coats and shoes on. Raine grabbed her umbrella and Rici ducked under it, linking hands with her girlfriend, as they stepped outside.

This time Rici was smiling in the rain.
