(Orion POV)

My head is fucking pounding. I have been reading books on Equestria’s history all fucking day! Sure it gave me something to do, but I might have made a mistake. Now Twilight has left me alone to do some princess stuff and Spike has been dusting the library for a bit now but he left a while ago to go outside. “Ugh I feel like my brain is gonna explode.” I groan out. “I’m not used to reading this much.”

I look outside and I’m guessing it’s around noonish. “Alright you know what, break time. I can’t play Doom Eternal or Fallout, or watch any movies or shows, but I can go outside for a bit.” I tell myself. I always find myself talking to myself a lot. I left the books at the table and trotted over to the door to open it. I take a deep breath as I go outside and close the door behind me. I never really took in the details of this place before but now I did. I see various ponies around me going about their day. Gossiping, shopping, just having a good time. Then I see a familiar Rainbow maned Pegasus fly down near me.

“Hey....I forgot your name..” She said

“Orion.” I reply.

“Orion, right! Hey I just wanted to say I was sorry about what happened when we met. I lost my temper a bit, you know threatening my friend and all.” She said.

Then I think back. Yeah I guess I did overreact when I threatened Twilight back there over the one possession I probably won’t be able to use again. “Yeah you’re right, sorry about that, and you know what, let’s just put all that behind us.”

“Right.” She then looked at Twilight’s castle behind me. “So what are you doing?”

“I was just reading on Equestria’s history. There’s a pretty high chance I’ll be stuck here, so I might as well learn everything I can.” I say.

“Oh I’m sure the princesses can get you back home.” Rainbow said flying overhead of me.

“But what if they can’t?” I reply. “I am considering the possibility that I might be stuck here for the rest of my life.”

“Alright you have a point.” She then landed in front of me. “But what are you doing now?”

“Taking a break. I can’t take any more reading right now. What about you?”

“I just got finished moving the clouds around.” Then she seemed to have a lightbulb go off in her head. “Hey since you’re an Alicorn and there is a chance that you might be stuck here, how about I teach you how to fly?”

Right there I felt fear and I started to get anxious. “Well you see....I would love to...but there’s a small problem...”

“What is it?” She asked.

“I’m..” I lowered my head a bit. “Afraid of heights.”

“What was that?” She asked leaning closer.

“I’m afraid of heights.” I admitted.

“And that’s understandable.” She said. “A lot of Pegasi are afraid of heights before they start flying, but I am willing to teach you!” She held a hoof to her chest and smiled proudly. I sigh a bit and nod.

“Alright let’s do this.” I say confidently.

“I can’t do this!” I say in fear as I stood on top of a cloud with Rainbow Dash flying right in front of me.

“Yes you can.” She said. “Look it’s simple ok, just unfurl your wings.”

“Easy for you to say! I just got this body!” I yell out. I honestly think this world and it’s inhabitants are trying to kill me!

“Oh right, I forgot about that.” She said sheepishly with a light bit of pink on her face. “Ok just focus on your wings ok. Just think about spreading your wings. And be calm while doing it.”

I nod a bit and close my eyes. I take a deep breath as I think about spreading my wings. I feel movement on my back and something lifting off of it. “There you go! See it’s easy.” I hear Rainbow say. I open my eyes and turn my head back, there it is. My wings are showing and the feathers are moving with the breeze. “Alright now jump.”

That made me freeze up instantly. “Are you fucking serious!?” I yell out with the my fear coming back to me. I swear this world wants to fucking kill me!

“Relax ok, I put a few clouds beneath you so that if you fall down you’ll land safely on them.” She said calmly. “You just need to relax and think about moving your wings.”

I take a deep breath and close my eyes. I move forward and open my eyes and scream in terror as I fall straight down. “Wings come on! Work with me here!” I yell out in panic as I fall towards a cloud. I remember that I will be safe on the cloud. Not even a second later the cloud moves out of the way with the wind and I panic once again. “SHIT!” I scream out and soon hit the ground hard enough to where I’m in the ground in a me shaped hole. I felt nothing but absolute pain all over my body as I let out a long and low whine of agony. From the hole I see Rainbow flying down towards me.

“Hey are you ok?” Rainbow asked me looking down into the hole. All she got from me is a groan. She smiles, “Yeah you’re fine.”

“Kill.....me.” I finally manage to get out.

“You didn’t flap your wings. You were supposed to flap them.” She said as if I should have known that.

“Oh yeah....flap my wings....why didn’t I...ow....think of that.” I say trying to pull myself out of the hole with sarcasm in my voice. “Oh wait I remember, I don’t know how to.”

“Maybe a higher position will help.” Rainbow putting a hoof to her chine. My eyes widened in fear. Nothing but fear replacing the pain in my body.

“No!” I yell out startling her a little. “How about I stay here, on the ground, and practice using my wings. Or better yet, maybe I don’t fly at all, because I am scared of heights, I don’t know what I’m doing, and I am an idiot for thinking I could actually do it!”

“Hey nopony ever makes it on their first try. I mean look at Twilight, she failed so many times before she finally got the hang of it.”

“Yeah but I’m new to the whole being a pony thing. I can barely walk.” I counter. “You know what, I need to cool down before I end up saying something I’ll regret.”

“Yeah you do that.” Rainbow said flying off leaving me alone. I sigh in relief.

“Glad that’s over with.” I tell myself as I trot back to Twilight’s to continue reading on Equestria. And I’m probably going to need some ice for all of my body.

Bit of a shorter one this time, but really only because I can’t think of much else to do. I’ll probably update this chapter eventually, but for now here it is.
