As the clouds moved over Ponyville, a bored dragon rolled over in his comfy bed. Spike had been left all alone due to Twilight’s royal duties, and she’d also decided to bring along her friends. He had been left alone before, yes, but for some reason this time hit him hard. He was getting just about sick of being alone, but couldn’t think of anything he could do to pass the time.
With a sigh, he entered the main hall, deciding to take a walk through Ponyville. Grabbing a brown jacket, he made his way onto the streets. He made his way down the dirt path and entered Main Street.
His entrance gathered a lot of waves and smiles from the citizens. They always enjoyed seeing the friendly dragon, and their reactions made Spike perk up from his down mood.
There were so many familiar faces. The lovable, yet clumsy mailmare Ditzy Doo. The often drunk, but funny Berry Punch. Octavia, the amazing cellist.
As Spike was surveying the ponies, one specific mare came into view that made him stop.
Standing beside Octavia was DJ P0N-3, the silent and charismatic DJ of Ponyville. Spike had often been around her whenever Pinkie Pie had thrown a party, but he had never heard her even speak a single word. She reminded him of those early silent movies, as she used her body language to dictate her emotion.
After He had accepted that Rarity wasn’t for him, and after seeing more and more of the DJ, he grew very fond of her. He couldn’t quite figure out what made her so attractive, but something about her just resonated with him.
Spike kept staring at the white mare, but stopped himself when he realized he was staring too much. He blushed heavily, and carried on his merry way.

After about twenty-five minutes, Spike had found a seat at a local coffee cafe. He was sipping on a vanilla latte, when a new noise entered his ears.
“Hey, is that seat taken?”, a mare’s voice called from behind him.
He turned around and almost fell out of his seat. There was DJ P0N-3, wielding a cup of coffee in her magic. He’d never gotten a real good look at her up close, but upon looking she was very cute. It took him a bit, but he eventually responded.
“Uh, no it’s not. Take a seat”, the dragon sputtered out.
“Thanks”, she said calmly.
They sat in silence for a few minutes. Spike was very surprised. He stared at her for a minute or so, and now here she is! He wondered if she saw him staring and came here to chew him out. His pondering was short lived as she spoke up.
“So, what’s your name? I’m sorry I didn’t ask before, I was wrapped up in my music”, she said as she pointed to her headphones.
“My name is Spike. I already know your name. You’re DJ P0N-3”, Spike said.
She let out a laugh that made Spike feel warm.
“That’s a stage name, man. My name is actually Vinyl Scratch”, she said.
Her laughter was contagious, so he chuckled as well, it was a bit silly once he thought about it more. Silence once again befell the pair, until Vinyl once again spoke up.
“Aren’t you like the Princess’s assistant? I’ve seen you around for ages, but I’ve never taken the time to ask anypony”, she said as she sipped her coffee again.
“Yeah, I’m Twilight’s assistant. Though, I’m off work for the next week”, he said glumly.
“Why’s that?”, Vinyl asked.
“Well, Twilight is in Canterlot at the moment. She’s there on royal business, and decided to take her friends with her”, he said as he sipped his latte.
“Are you not her friend?”, the DJ asked.
“Of course I’m her friend, she just needed me to stay behind”, he paused to drink.”Though, I will say that being alone isn’t the greatest thing in the world”.
Sensing his sadness, Vinyl comforted him.
“I bet, considering you seem to be very social. I wish I could be that way, but music fills my head most of the time”, she said with a frown
“Well, you are a DJ. That’d be like if Pinkie Pie was sad because she was throwing a party. Plus, I think it’s cool what you do”, Spike said with a friendly smile.
She chuckled a bit after he finished. After they both took a sip of their respective drinks, Vinyl spoke up.
“Thanks Spike, means a lot”, she said with a matching smile.
Silence followed until Vinyl got up.
“Listen Spike”, she started,” I gotta get going. You wanna meet up here again tomorrow, same time, same place?”.
“Sure, sounds good”, he said cheerfully.
She giggled and trotted away, waving as she went.

The walk home wasn’t particularly eventful, but Spike didn’t care. He walked around a bit, but eventually just got bored. The scenery wasn’t what was on his wind. As he got ready for bed, he couldn’t help but ponder to himself.
“She’s really different”, he said as he brushed his teeth, “She wasn’t at all like I was expecting. I mean, I don’t know what exactly I had in mind. I thought she would’ve had a more energetic manner to her, but she’s very calm”.
He finished brushing his teeth and went about other things until he was ready for a good nights rest. He sat in his bed, blowing his candle out and laying in the darkness for a little bit, until a thought came to him.
“I can’t wait for tomorrow. It’s going to be so cool getting to know her more, I have so many questions”, he said to himself.
After a bit, he eventually fell asleep.

Elsewhere, a white mare sat her shades on a nightstand and settled into her bed. With a smile and a sigh, she laid her head on her pillow.
“This is gonna be interesting”, she said as she drifted off.
