“Pharynx? Ugh… Where in Equestria did he go at this hour?”
Thorax sighed with a strong roll of his eyes, not wanting his paranoia to get the best of him when it was so late already. Fortunately for the changeling, he didn’t have to worry about bumping into anything while he traversed through his Hive’s tunnels by himself. Even though it was late enough to leave the skies outside an eerily pitch black, the revitalization efforts put forth by King Thorax’s subjects left their Hive brightly lit where it was needed. Just over a year ago, the Changeling Kingdom’s main Hive was a desolate array of petrified stone and wood, meant to resemble a castle for their wretched Queen Chrysalis; but ever since King Thorax was fortunate enough to take control, the interior of the Hive now carried a beautiful plethora of vibrant, luminescent vines that hugged around the tunnels above Thorax’s head.
As he walked alone down one of the pathways, Thorax had to stop and sigh to himself with an optimistic smile. Even though he had been acting as King long enough to grow accustomed to the role, it was still jarring how quickly he was thrown into leadership after helping to defeat Chrysalis. Luckily, since most of the Changeling Kingdom secretly despised Chrysalis’ rule, it wasn’t too hard for Thorax to get the assistance he needed while revitalizing the nation’s sorrowful state. The Changeling Kingdom may have not been perfect, but Thorax was confident that things would continue to run smoothly under his rule.
Unfortunately, despite how comforting it may have been to reflect on things, the changeling still groaned as he looked around the vacant spaces he walked past. It had been over an hour since he tried to look for his brother, but Pharynx was nowhere to be seen. Normally that wouldn’t upset Thorax too badly, since he knew his brother to be more of a loner than most other changelings. However, since he was just informed of a possible sighting of Queen Chrysalis in Canterlot not too long ago, and Pharynx was given the role at the Changeling Kingdom’s Head General, Thorax was determined to find him and give the intel personally.
After rounding another corner, Thorax was trying not to seethe in anger upon finding another vacant cave. “Nnnnghhh!! PHARYNX!” he shouted out angrily, which caused his voice to echo down the tunnels and ripple the flowers hanging from the vines. “Pharynx, you better not be avoiding me! I’m not afraid to send out a search party!”
Despite that threatening remark, Thorax was still unable to find his brother after walking through a couple more tunnels. Even though he knew it would be difficult to find the General this late at night, Thorax was trying not to grow too worried about why that may be. Ever since he became the anointed King, he knew that Pharynx was never too pleased with his leadership skills. Not to mention, unlike most of the other changelings nowadays, Pharynx was one of the few who legitimately respected Queen Chrysalis, and blindly trusted her no matter what. But after the General experienced his own physical reformation before his very eyes, Thorax tried his hardest not to grow too suspicious on the matter; loner or not, Pharynx would always be his brother first and foremost.
“Okay, that’s it!” After losing hope in finding Pharynx himself, Thorax turned around so he could make his way back to the main part of the Hive. “If he’s not going to be present when I need him to be, I guess I--”
“Well of course I am!” came Pharynx’s voice, which Thorax was able to catch from a considerable distance away. It may have been very muffled and hard to catch, but Thorax could recognize his brother’s voice from anywhere. He turned his head around to where he heard it come from, just as he heard Pharynx add, “You really think I’m not doing anything around here?! The only reason I haven’t left yet is because of you…”
Thorax’s brows rose up tremendously, and he grew confused as to what Pharynx may have been talking about. Despite how strained their relationship may have been, Thorax always assumed that he was the reason Pharynx stuck around the Changeling Kingdom. His bug-like eyes narrowed in suspicion before he began to walk towards the voice, but he kept his steps silent so he could hear without the risk of intrusion. However, not too long after hearing that comment from Pharynx, a female voice replied with a tone familiar enough to make Thorax freeze in utter fear.
“Well, I should hope that was the reason, ‘General’ Pharynx! The last thing I’d want to assume is that you would be under that traitor’s influence as well…”
That voice belonged to Chrysalis, much to Thorax’s shock and unbridled panic. While he knew that Chrysalis was likely to return in an attempt to reclaim her throne, the idea of her actually being in this very Hive without tripping any alarms was more than mortifying for the young King. Not to mention, the idea that Pharynx would actually be assisting her was horrifying enough to make his blood run cold. But instead of running off to find reinforcements, Thorax gulped nervously before he stepped closer towards the voices. Unless he actually saw it with his own two eyes, the changeling had to be hopeful that it wasn’t what he was assuming at that moment. Unfortunately, just as he came across the opening to an unused cavern near the end of the tunnel, Thorax could better hear those voices conversing about more alarming things.
“My Queen, you know that I’d never betray you like that,” said the voice of Pharynx with a sincerely insistent tone, which made Thorax wince strongly. “I already told you multiple times before, I couldn’t risk being exposed if I went against Thorax too openly! You understand that, don’t you?”
“Well, of course I do,” purred Chrysalis’ voice with a more withheld, but unrelentingly firm tone back at Pharynx. “I was obliged to do a lot of things I didn’t care for when I posed as Princess Cadance. But even then, I got things done after a couple months! You’ve been pretending to be a defector for over a YEAR, and what do you have to show for it?! TELL ME, PHARYNX!!”
Thorax shivered badly enough to make his wings buzz for a second against his back, but he was quick to pull them down to avoid being heard by either of those voices. Even though he was determined to peer in on whatever Pharynx was doing, that response he heard caused Thorax to bite his lip in trepidation. The idea of Pharynx realigning with Chrysalis was bad enough, but it was almost unfathomable to think that none of his efforts since his reformation were for show. Thorax knew that it was a better decision to run away from their conversation, and get some Guards to apprehend his brother for whatever crimes he was planning to commit. Unfortunately, since he saw himself what happened to Twilight when she made assumptions about Chrysalis at the wedding, the last thing Thorax wanted was to do something similarly foolish with his brother. He hoped more than anything that it was just an elaborate roleplay session, or even two other changelings posing as the two for a skit...
But as soon as his head peeked through the opening of the cavern, Thorax gasped silently upon seeing his brother by himself in the room. Or more specifically, General Pharynx standing before a glowing orb of green magic, which carried a direct feed to show Chrysalis’ face. She was standing in what looked to be a room in a completely different location, but her presence alone was still shocking to the Changeling Kingdom’s current King. Not only was Pharynx still aligned with the fiendish being, but he was somehow able to acquire a private feed to converse with her without anyone knowing! And right now, Pharynx had his full attention on the former Queen, not noticing the gawked stare from his brother behind him as he spoke confidently.
“Believe me, my Queen,” said Pharynx with a stern and unmitigated stare at the screen. “I’ve been doing everything I can to ensure your return would occur flawlessly. My secondary officers are already aligned with me without Thorax knowing, and I’ve altered the magic signatures on our security spells so they wouldn’t be able to track you. As soon as Grogar and his forces overthrow Canterlot, you can come right in without any combat needed! Even Thorax won’t be able to stop me by the time you reclaim your throne. I can promise you that with my life~”
Thorax’s jaw dropped, not able to say a word after hearing his own brother saying those things. Meanwhile, Queen Chrysalis’ smile widened through that screen as she peered down at Pharynx, and gave a satisfied nod of her head. “Now that’s what I was wanting to hear from you,” she said with a more content-sounding growl in her voice, before her eyes narrowed more intently on him. “Although if you really wanted to show your place like you SHOULD, you should consider letting me see some results before Grogar starts his own plans. I’d rather have my Hive back so I can better defeat him myself~”
Pharynx huffed with an amused smirk up at her, and asked confidently, “Are you suggesting we hold a takeover now? I mean… I wouldn’t be against that, but it might be risky.”
“So was sleeping with Shining Armor for months on end, but I was able to do that, wasn’t I?” asked Chrysalis with a scoff. “So how about you stop questioning your Queen like your brother would, and show how much more capable you are than him. Find Thorax, and have him ready for me to indoctrinate! As soon as you can do that, I’ll come back so we can start our plans. You think you can do that in less than a year?!”
Thorax’s eyes were beading in fear, and his heart was racing while standing out of sight from Chrysalis’ magic feed. Unfortunately, even if he wasn’t being noticed by either of them, the changeling never felt more at risk in his entire life. That panicked state only intensified as he watched Pharynx bow his head before the Queen, and said, “My Queen, I promise I’ll have him in my grasp before the week is over~”
Thorax’s mind was running a complete blank, but his body was fortunate enough to take action in its place. Without even realizing it, Thorax felt himself turning around to run like Tartarus away from the cavern, hopeful he could make a beeline for Equestria and get some help. Unfortunately, as soon as his hooves tried to get some traction, his hind-legs skidded a little against the gravel lined outside the cavern. And only a second or two after he began to run, even the buzzing of his wings wasn’t enough to keep him from hearing Pharynx’s voice shouting out, “What the?! WHO’S OUT THERE!?!”
Thorax’s hooves bolted from the ground, and he tried to keep his body still as he flew through the tight confines of the tunnel at top-speed. He may have not been the best flier, but he knew this Hive well enough to confidently try soaring through without the worry of injury. His eyes were narrowed in utmost focus, and he tried his hardest not to think about the looming threat set to try and find him before it was too late. But sadly, despite how hard the wind was brushing past his green chitin, and how quickly he felt he was flying down that tunnel, Thorax’s tearing eyes widened in dread when he heard his “brother’s” voice bellowing out from behind him. “THORAAAAAAXXXXXX!!!”
Thorax couldn’t dare try and look behind him, but he could still sense Pharynx gaining speed on him as he shot through the tunnels like a rocket. Along with being a skilled tactician and survivalist, Pharynx was also significantly faster and stronger than his King of a brother. So even as Thorax was flying for his very life through the tight confines of his Hive, Pharynx had his fanged muzzle snarled intensely as he barrelled closer to him inch by inch. “YOU CAN’T HIDE FROM ME, TRAITOR!!” he screamed out with an unbridled anger that Thorax had hoped was no longer in his system; but as the General continued to gain on his brother, his demeanor appeared to be just as menacing and cruel as he lit up his horn brightly. “GET BACK HERE NOW!!!”
The exit of the tunnel was within sight after rounding the final corner, but Thorax instantly felt his speed diminish before he could reach it. An immense bout of pressure clung to his hind-legs, which was caused by the strong grip of Pharynx’s magic catching his brother before he could escape. That eerie yellowish aura soon enveloped Thorax’s entire body, and covered his muzzle before he could have the time to scream. The King quickly found himself unable to fight back, as his he felt entire body being pulled back like he was caught in an elastic trap. And without a moment to even reflect on what he may have done wrong, Thorax was thrown with tremendous force away from any sense of safety.
With a thundering crash, the changeling’s body collided with the wall of that corner, and caused him to instantly black out before he could use any of his magic. Because of that, General Pharynx was able to land back on his hooves, and walk disturbingly casually up to his brother’s unconscious form. Even as a couple stray tears rolled down the King’s cheeks, Pharynx couldn’t help smiling in satisfaction upon seeing the changeling laid out for him so easily. “Heh~ And to think, those ponies actually considered you to be a proper King~”
Even though Thorax wasn’t conscious when that statement was made, Pharynx wouldn’t have waited for a response anyway. Instead, the darker green changeling lit up his magic to pull Thorax off the ground, and quickly pulled him back towards the dark abyss he had just tried to escape from…
“MMMPHH!!”
Thorax jolted awake in an instant, and his eyes shot-wide open as he tried to get back on his hooves. But much to the changeling’s dread, his legs were all tightly bound in metal chains, and he was left hanging from the stalagmites above his head to dangle helplessly. Thorax had no idea where he was, but he could only assume that his “brother” took him to some nondescript cave that none of the other changelings were aware of. And to make matters worse, it didn’t take long for Thorax to realize that his face was restrained with a black muzzle-guard, and his horn and antlers were all fitted with thick magic-inhibiting rings at their bases.
“Nnnnghhhhh!!” Despite how hard he tried as he thrashed wildly in his bindings, Thorax couldn’t break himself free while he hung by his forelegs from the ceiling. The chains connected to his hind-legs were securely latched to the stone ground, and kept him stretched-out in a spread-eagle position to ensure he wouldn’t escape. After about five minutes of continuous squirming and buzzing, the only thing Thorax was able to achieve was a thoroughly exhausted state before he slumped lazily in his bondage.
Oh, Goddess, he thought to himself in deep lament, as his eyes clenched tightly shut to keep from crying alone in the dark. How could Pharynx do this to me?! How could he do this to the Changeling Kingdom?! I thought he was doing so well… I… I trusted him…
Even with his eyes clenched shut, a couple tears trailed down his chitinesque cheeks as he hung in silent remorse. He had no idea how long he would be down in that desolate cave, but he had a feeling his traitorous brother wouldn’t let him out anytime soon. All he could hope for was the chance that someone up above would realize he was gone, and possibly send that intel to Celestia before Grogar invades Canterlot. But given the state he was in, the idea of staying optimistic seemed more fruitless with each additional tear that dripped down to the ground below his dangling hooves.
Eventually, a bright light came out of nowhere, and caused Thorax to wince from the blinding pain that irritated his eyes. While the changeling tried to turn his head away from the source of light, a familiar shape came into view from the cavern’s revealed entrance. A strong aura of teal magic took hold of a massive boulder, which was used to re-cover the entrance and keep the daylight from seeping in. But even as the darkness returned, Thorax was able to see his oppressor when he slowly reopened his eyes, and caught a glimpse of Pharynx’s glowing magic. Unfortunately, as soon as his eyes adjusted to the light, Thorax gasped through his muzzle guard upon seeing the identical copy of himself who was standing before him.
“Well, it’s nice to see you haven’t died yet~” purred Pharynx with a shit-eating grin, which was the only thing that looked off when it came to his Thorax disguise. The real Thorax tried to thrash and scream through his muzzle, but only muffled groans were able to come out while his brother chuckled in delight. “Honestly, I don’t really care if you exhaust yourself any more than you already have,” said Pharynx with a light shrug of his shoulders, and a perfect mimic of Thorax’s voice. “It’ll just make things easier on my own end.”
Thorax eventually settled down in his chain bindings, and stared back at his imposter with a deathly glare. Of course, Pharynx didn’t look the least-bit intimidated by that stare, and just scoffed with a playful roll of his eyes. “Yeah, no,” he said with a shake of his head. “I swear, Cozy Glow looks more intimidating than you do.”
The bound changeling growled even louder through his muzzle, which didn’t faze Pharynx in the slightest while he circled around him tauntingly. “I will say though, your form is disturbingly easy for me to use as a ploy, Thorax~ I was able to cancel all of your upcoming appointments for the next two weeks, order your staff to refrain from doing any upkeep in your living quarters, and put out an official notice to say you were going on ‘Vacation’ for the foreseeable future! And you know what the best part of that is? Not a single one of those idiots even batted an eye~”
If Thorax was able to break from his chains, he likely would’ve been able to bash his brother’s skull in before he finished that villainesque monologue. Unfortunately, since the chains were thick enough to pull up an anchor, the fallen King was no real match against the stainless steel. So instead of dishing out any much-needed revenge, Thorax could only hang helplessly as the imposter continued his rant. “So now… You and I are able to have a lot more time together to ‘reconnect,’ as you’ve suggested countless times before~ Heh heh heh… Although, I’m willing to guess this wasn’t how you intended it to go, huh?~”
“NNNNFFFFFF!!” Thorax thrashed hard in his chains the moment Pharynx got back in his line of vision, and his murderous stare on the traitor grew more intense with each passing second. Pharynx was sure that if he undid that muzzle guard, he would likely hear a plethora of slurs and insults thrown in his face by the furious King. So instead, Pharynx took solace in his brother’s muzzled silence, and looked away from Thorax with a content-looking smirk.
“Oh, but don’t worry,” he said in a sickly-sweet, faux-assurring voice that was practically dripping with disdain. “I’m not planning to kill you, dear brother. After all, it would be far too suspicious if you were to disappear, and I had to constantly switch between our two forms all the time like some bad sitcom plot. Not to mention, my Queen was intent on keeping you alive, just so you could see with your own eyes what she’s able to do…”
With that pause, the fake Thorax grew an evilly wide grin as he looked back at his binded brother. Thorax still looked enraged, but his squirms lessened as he took notice of Pharynx’s demented smile. His breaths through the muzzle guard weakened, and his expression showed a notable look of fear. As for the unchained changeling standing before him, he only took another moment to marvel at his work before he lit up his magic even brighter. “Or more specifically… What I was able to do without you knowing…”
The captor closed his eyes, and activated his changeling magic so a fiery inferno of green flames enveloped his body. The flames may have not been able to burn anything, but Thorax still averted his eyes from Pharynx due to the intense brightness. The entire cavern was illuminated with that vibrantly green magic, which lingered across Pharynx’s form for far longer than usual. However, as soon as the flames finally depleted, and the changeling was left in a thick plume of smoke, a flash of white light soon came afterward to reveal Pharynx’s new form…
Or more specifically, his original form.
Thorax gasped in shock the moment he took notice of his brother’s new shape, which happened to be the unreformed version that was commonplace before Chrysalis’ expulsion. Pharynx’s moose-like antlers were gone, and only the misshapen chitinous horn was what remained atop his bald head. His stature was much shorter than before, and was glistening from the smooth black chitin that encompassed his form once more. The holes in his legs were back, which didn’t seem to faze Pharynx at all while he shot a cocky grin up at his captive prey. In fact, judging by how many of his fangs that could be seen in his wickedly wide smile, it seemed that Pharynx was downright elated to be back to his insectoid state.
Thorax looked absolutely mortified, and his eyes sunk in fear as he realized just how horribly things were likely to go for himself.
“I know, right?~” beamed Pharynx as he narrowed his dark purple eyes on him, and gave a giddy-sounding chitter while his wings buzzed against his back. “I couldn’t believe the effects of that putrid ‘reformation’ were reversible myself! But apparently, when Chrysalis and her allies captured a bewitching book from Canterlot, she was fortunate enough to craft her own spell that could counteract your ‘love-giving’ bullshit! And guess what?!”
Since Thorax was rightfully frozen in fear, still in shock that the reformation process could actually be undone, Pharynx flew up to get in close to his brother’s face and say with a deathly grin, “While you wallow away down here, I’m going to reverse it for Every. Single. Changeling~”
“NNNNNNNNNGGGGGG!!!” Thorax tried to lunge in and attack his brother, but he was barely able to move an inch due to those chains. Meanwhile, Pharynx cackled to himself gloatingly as he flew back down to the ground, and left his brother thrashing furiously to no avail. Unfortunately, it seemed that Pharynx wasn’t done with the bound King just yet. Even though he could’ve easily went back up to start Queen Chrysalis’ horrifying plans, the changeling made his way over towards a far-off corner in the cavern. And for Thorax, who was still desperately trying to free himself, his eyes widened as he followed the glow of Pharynx’s horn, and saw him reach for something that was hidden underneath a heavy tarp.
“And you know what’s the best thing about reconnecting with our Queen, Thorax?” he jeered as he shot a cheeky grin back at his brother, and gave a theatrical pull of the tarp for his big reveal. “She was able to send me gifts!~”
Thorax almost had a heart-attack, and screamed through his muzzle guard the moment he saw those thick, glowing changeling eggs laid out in a makeshift nest. He had no idea how Pharynx was able to acquire something like that without detection, but there was no denial that those throbbing, insectoid-like eggs were as real as could be. The luminescent greenish glow helped to light up the cavern even more, and revealed just how much Thorax was trying to writhe himself away from those eggs. Meanwhile, Pharynx casually trotted back towards his panicking brother as he asked, “Oh, what’s the problem, brother? It’s technically morning right now, so you might as well get some eggs for breakfast~”
An even louder scream emitted from Thorax’s muzzle guard, but his muffled cries for help only echoed fruitlessly within the confines of the cavern. Meanwhile, Pharynx chuckled lightly to himself after making that little quip, and shook his head as he got up close to his brother’s bound form. Since he already revealed his de-reformation, the changeling wasn’t too worried as he gave a quick flash of his green flames to change form again. But much to Thorax’s surprise (or at least, what would’ve been a surprised reaction if he wasn’t continuously screaming and thrashing away from Pharynx), those flames dissipated to reveal that his brother had turned back to Thorax’s appearance.
“Aaahhhhh… I’ll be so glad to rid you of this fru-fru form soon enough,” Pharynx said with a strong tone of distaste as he glanced down at one of the lime-green hooves Thorax possessed. Nevertheless, the changeling shrugged to himself before he looked back up at the petrified state the real Thorax was carrying in his terrified, wide-eyed expression. The traitor may have been aware of how “wrong” it may have been to do all of this, even if he vehemently supported his Queen’s cause without hesitation. But as soon as he saw Thorax starting to cry again, the changeling groaned with a roll of his eyes. “Oh, come on!” he said as he quickly illuminated his horn. “I didn’t want to go this far to make you comply, but I guess that can’t be helped, can it?”
With a strong flash of his magic, Pharynx’s ghastly green aura illuminated around Thorax’s head. The King instantly clenched his eyes shut, and tried his hardest to resist as he squirmed uncontrollably in his restraints. But down below Thorax’s dangling hooves, Pharynx carried a determined grin while he kept that magic in focus around his brother’s mind. And despite how much Thorax tried to train himself to counteract any mind-control or hypnosis spells Chrysalis may have had, Pharynx’s unreformed magic was able to weaken the King’s defenses in less than thirty seconds.
“NNNNGHHHH!! Nnnnnnnnn… Mmmrrrrghhhhh…” Slowly but surely, Thorax’s strained movements against the chains weakened as he felt that changeling magic taking hold of his conscience. His eyes tried their hardest to remain tightly shut, even as his mind succumbed deeper to those horrible auras he was forced to use so many times before the reformation. His lips began to quiver behind his muzzle guard, and his weakening state made his last remaining tears trail down his cheeks. But eventually, as Thorax’s muffled screams turned to faint and mumbling groans, it grew scarily clear just how effective Pharynx’s magic was to leave his brother compromised. And as soon as he released his magical grip around Thorax’s mind, the chained King laid completely limp in his restraints, much to Pharynx’s delight.
“Sooooooo…” The captor, who was still taking Thorax’s form with a curious smirk, raised up a hoof to gently rub against his brother’s thigh. “... are you still gonna resist your Queen?~”
The real Thorax slowly lifted up his head, and revealed a blank expressionless face that made Pharynx grin excitedly. And when Thorax finally reopened his eyes, it was obvious that he was under the captor’s control as they glowed brightly with Pharynx’s green magic. The changeling was no longer thrashing in his restraints, and laid completely dormant as he hung before his brainwashing captor. Fortunately for Pharynx, his question didn’t go unanswered, and it only took a couple seconds before Thorax groggily shook his head.
“That’s what I was hoping for~” purred the fake Thorax, who was grinning even more upon seeing how effectively he disabled his brother’s resistances. He rubbed up and down Thorax’s leg more sensually, and looked up at him with his eyes narrowed with intrigue. “Mmmmm… I gotta say, you’re a lot more tolerable when you keep yourself silent,” he said with a more alluring tone, not seeming to mind that it was technically his brother’s voice. He glanced up at Thorax’s bound form, and grew a look of contemplation for a moment before saying, “You know what? I’m gonna keep you in the chains and muzzle guard. You won’t complain, right?~”
Thorax gave another slow, half-conscious shake of his head. It seemed that he was looking down at the mimic of himself who was grinning more cockily, but it was hard to tell since his eyes were glowing so vibrantly with green magic. Nevertheless, Pharynx still chuckled upon seeing the King’s compromised state, and brought his chitinous hoof up closer to his brother’s hips. “That’s a good thing to hear, brother~” he said rather cheekily, making sure to place some emphasis on that relation like he saw it as a joke. “Because with the plans I have for you, I have a feeling you should stay off the ground for a while. After all…”
His smirk became more lustrous as he glanced down at Thorax’s waist, and stared directly at that exposed sheath. The changeling race may have been more open-minded about sex (obviously due to how essential it was to retrieve love before Chrysalis was defeated), but incest was one of the few taboo kinks that many of the drones refrained from practicing themselves. But judging by the grin that fake Thorax was carrying on his muzzle, it seemed that Pharynx wasn’t against seeing his brother’s sheath and balls up close. The package may have not been too impressive while flaccid, but Pharynx seemed optimistic about the work he was about to give to his former Superior while finishing his statement. “... it would be such a shame if any of our Queen’s eggs were to break inside of you~”
With that, Pharynx didn’t wait to hear a reply from his brother, and stood on his hind-legs so he could be in a better position before his brother’s crotch. The Thorax mimic closed his eyes as he leaned in, and dragged his tongue along the inside of the real Thorax’s thigh. Aside from a small twitching of his muscles, the only real response that Thorax could give was a soft and muffled groan through his muzzle guard. Meanwhile, his captor continued to work his way up towards Thorax’s member, and moaned a little while he lapped across his brother’s smooth chitinous flesh.
