Prison Break
Before the Bell Rings.
Load Full StoryNext ChapterPrincipal Celestia was on the verge of a mental breakdown, why oh why did she not think of the phones of the students? They're on their phones almost all of the time, she was busy pacing in her office, she had recently gotten a call that a government official had gotten wind of what had happened during the Friendship Games and had backed up and taken most of the videos down almost immediately, claiming they were hoaxes or special effects. A knock on Celestia's door made her nearly jump out of her skin. "C-Come in!" She said trying to keep a handle on her nervous voice. She felt immense relief when it was just her younger sister and Vice-Principal Luna open and come through the mahogany barrier.
"Tia, you need to relax." Was the first sentence out of Luna's mouth when she entered.
"Re-RELAX!? How can I relax!? The government knows about magic! They could take the girls away! Oh god what could happen to Sunset? What if she tells them about Equestria?" The principal of Canterlot High was hysterical.
Luna, knowing her sister just opened the desk drawer and pulled out a paper bag. She opened it up and handed it to her, "Breathe." She commanded. Tia took the offered bag and started breathing in and out of it, the paper bag inflating and crinkling with every breath. "You need to stop watching those conspiracy videos, and you also need to stop jumping to conclusions."
After calming down Tia looked at her sister, "I just don't want anything happening to any of my students."
"Nothing will." Luna rubbed Celestia on the back, "I promise."
There was a second knock on the door that echoed throughout the office of the principal. Owner of said office took a deep but shaky breath, "Showtime." She said and opened the door. As expected there was an agent, black and white suit and tie, sunglasses, briefcase, the works, he had short brown hair and a short beard, he wasn't as tall as the women but his aura held a message and the message was clear. Don't mess with.
The agent cleared his throat and asked in his deep voice, "May I come in?"
"O-Of course!" Celestia said, "Can I get you anything to drink? Water, coffee, alcohol?"
The agent looked up at her when she said the last one and raised an eyebrow over his sunglasses. "She's kidding!" Luna said and stared at her sister, with a what the hell is wrong with you face.
"I frankly don't care what kind of alcoholic beverages you have in your office, that's for the school board to reprehend you on not Homeland." The agent said as he took a seat, prompting the principal to take a seat and for Luna to stand next to her sister after closing the door and shutting the blinds.
"I have a few questions before we get started." Celestia said.
"If you're worried about us taking the girls, you have nothing to worry about. Keeping an eye on them? Yes, we don't kidnap people. Not anymore at least." The agent replied.
"Secondly your name?" Celestia asked, "Or do I just address you as Agent Smith?"
"Connors, My name and title is Agent Joseph Connors of the Department of Homeland Security. We're not robots, we aren't built in a lab. We were born here, raised here, and we joined here. We were trained to have cold indifference, however some of us are a little more indifferent than others, and some like myself have a little less indifference." Agent Connors said, "Now shall we proceed to why I'm here?"
Celestia gulped and nodded. "Yes, let's proceed."
"I'm more than positive you already know the situation surrounding Canterlot High and the magical influx. I commemorate you for attempting to keep a lid on this, but with how things are nowadays, it's easier to get ahold of information now more than ever."
"Yes, I understand. What are you going to do?" Celestia asked.
"It's our beliefs that any attempt to remove the portal would incur more repercussions than benefits, and we're not going through the portal as we would wouldn't know what would happen if we do. Some of our best scientists we keep an eye on the portal and any other magical anomalies that happen to enter our world, from a distance of course." Agent Connors then continued, "The problem is that you tried to keep this from the government, and hiding things from us. Especially when it could end our very way of life is not something that would put you in a favorable light with us."
"There must be a reason why we're still here instead of the school being shut down and everyone taken in for questioning." Luna spoke up.
"There is, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle." Agent Connors said.
"What do they have to do with this?" Celestia asked incredulously.
"Redemption, we kept an eye on Sunset. After all, people don't just pop up out of nowhere with no birth certificate or social security card. The fact that she found a job is amazing to say the least." Agent Connors commented, "Back to the topic at hand, we are willing to forgive your transgressions and are willing to work with you, however there has to be some changes with how things operate around here, there will be no changes to the staff, aside from assigning a school resource officer. Secondly, there will be no more sending these girls out to solve magical problems by themselves, at least not without the proper training and resources to effectively eliminate said situation. Thirdly, there's going to be a program instituted."
"What kind of program?" Celestia asked.
"This program is experimental, we'll start with a control group of four. With your track record of being able to redeem students, we believe that the same could be done for juvenile criminals." Agent Connors said.
"Wait. You want us to take in and teach Juvy criminals?" Luna asked, "That's insane!"
"It's these kids last chance. Juvenile Hall is not working for these children. And some of them do want to have an education, like I said. The program is experimental, if it goes awry, it's going to be shut down. Cooperation is within your best interests."
"You said a control group of four, which four?" Celestia asked.
Agent Connors brought up his briefcase and set it on the desk, popping it open and placing four files on oak desk, he took the briefcase off and lay it next to his chair. Celestia opened the first file as Agent Connors began, "First off we have Johnathan Deal he's 5'8, brown hair and green eyes, he weighs 180 lbs. John is a genius, he scored a 195 on an IQ test that he thought was a game so he wasn't taking it seriously. Records show that he's shown more than a capability to escape almost any confinement we put him in, he's picked through his handcuffs using a paperclip before. We locked him in a mental institution room. He's in juvy for hacking into several banks and redistributing money to the poor. Modern day Robin Hood, except his bow and arrow are digital. He's also extremely violent, put a fellow delinquent in the ICU by stabbing him with a pencil repeatedly. Any test he takes will have to be in crayon."
Celestia looked at the Agent who stared back at her. She put the first file down and moved onto the next one. "Okay." She murmured.
"Next we have Bogden Petrov, to his friends he's known as the Russian. Standing at 6'9 with black hair and brown eyes. He weighs an intimidating 295 pounds. Family immigrated from Russia to America in the late 90's around the time he was born. He quickly made a name for himself as being the biggest guy in the room. Which made everyone want to fight him, one day he just snapped and put 15 kids in the hospital that was in the 4th grade. By the time he was 15 he had hospitalized 47 and was potentially questioned for a murder, however nothing was ever pinned on him. His father has possible ties to the KGB, but nothing has been confirmed. Most dangerous thing about this boy is that his father is former Spetsnaz, and trained his son in sambo. Nothing short of a taser or gun will stop this kid, we're just lucky that his father instilled a respect for authority in him."
"It seems to me that you're intent on giving us the worst of the worst." Luna said.
"Trust me, while these kids are tempermental, they get reduced sentences out of this program. So they have incentive to keep their heads down." Agent Connors said.
"Let's move on." Celestia said while putting the file down, and grabbing the next one.
"The next one is Lucas Tamberlin. He's an even 6 feet tall, dirty blonde hair, an even 230 pounds. He was a drug dealer before we caught him. The boy had a lot of fingers in a lot of pies so to speak. Weed, coke, meth, heroin, crack, jet fuel, extacy. You name it he's sold it, the man could sell ice to an eskimo and fire to a man in hell. His old man was in the KKK. Lucas didn't agree with that so one night, he switched his dad's sugar in his coffee for a cocktail of drugs he calls the Kiss of Death. His dad was a druggie so it's not known whether it was Luke or not, all signs point to yes but he claims that his dad was looking for a fix and stumbled onto the wrong thing. Kid's a genius when it comes to any chemicals, that's why we keep him out of the laundry room." Agent Connors said.
"So, a hacker, a brute, and a drug dealer." Celestia said, "Hopefully it won't get any worse." She moved onto the last file.
"The last one is a bit of a mystery, as far as we know. His name is Jackal, or that's what everyone calls him. He likes the previous three because they don't take shit from him. He was found in an abandoned asylum feasting on rats, took down 8 cops before they shot him with enough tranquilizers to put a baby elephant to sleep. He's willing to learn and understands basic english, we believe his parents abandoned him and he became mostly feral. We say mostly due to the previous reasons, we'll keep an officer with him at all times makes sure he doesn't start attacking others." Agent Connors.
"These four boys are willing to come to our school and cooperate? Socialize even?" Celestia asked.
"They have incentive to keep their noses out of trouble. Some of them might need tutoring, the others need guidance." Agent Connors said, "They'll start at the beginning of next week. You have enough time to make an announcement about the program, or you can say that new students are going to attend Canterlot High, how you do it is up to you. But I wouldn't hesitate to say something. I'll be making my leave now." Agent Connors said and got up collecting his briefcase, "The files are your copy, we have ours digitized and backed up." He then took out a business card with a single phone number written on it. "This is my number, call me if anything happens. I'll be close by." The agent strode out the door continuing out of the school.
Celestia looked at Luna, "Looks like we have an announcement to make."
"Intercom or Assembly?" Luna asked.
"Assembly, the personal setting would help students adjust." Celestia stared down at files and then back at her sister, she then sighed. "I need a drink."
Meanwhile in Canterlot Juvenile hall the four aforementioned teens sat around a lunch table. Not saying anything to each other as they ate, John's head perked up as he looked at an approaching security guard, he dropped a note at John's feet who stretched his legs and covered it with his shoe, pulling it over to himself, he reached down to scratch an itch and then he picked up the note, reading it, You're in the program. John grinned to himself and got up looking at his as Bogden would say, comrades. He coughed and got the attention of the other three. They stared at him with a slight glimmer of hope in their eyes. "Boys, we've got a lot of work ahead of us. We're in."
