Night of a New Moon

Moon POV

I slowly woke up from another day of dealing if the fall out of the last few day in the castle. After taking a shower I looked at myself in the bathroom mirror and let out a sigh. It has been almost a week since Nightmare Moon was brought back and the ponies in this world were still adjusting to her. From the rumors of the castle staff and guards it seemed like when Artemis came back.

The thought that she was still evil and going to take over was still on the minds of ponies. The princes had told the nation that she was not what the old story. It will take time but it will all pass. As for me the castle now didn't know what to make of me. In this world females were the weaker of the two genders outside of the very few guard mares.

Getting dressed I left my room and went to the guards training field. With it being mid day most of the field was empty. The two guard sets usually switched so the lunar could use it. Putting my Jacket in a bench I did some basic workout routines 100 situps, pushups, wingups, pullups, lifting some weights and ran on the track.

Being done with my worm up I walk over to a training dummy to practice some simple moves. I would rather not show any of the ponies what I can really do. Before I can do anything i was caught off guard as something pushes me away from the dummy and of my hooves. Looking up from my new spot one the ground I see five sol guards.

"Well guys, look what we got here a filly that thinks she can play guard." One of them says mockingly.

"Hay isn't that the filly that was with the moon beast?" Another asked.

"Oh, hay your right. I heard she took out all the guards and the captain that day." Yet another added.

"Yah right. No way can a filly or mare fight that kind of numbers and win." The first one said giving me a one over.

Getting back onto my hooves I dusted myself off. "Y'all mind gettin' out of da way so Oi can get back ta trainin'?" I asked.

"I would watch how you talk to a stallion. No pony likes a back talking mare." One said walking closer to me.

I shot him a glare. I was getting sick and tired of being looked down on for being female.

"Why don't you let us take you back to your heard. I'm sure that your mother and fathers are looking for you." Said one of the guards in the back.

"How's about ya go buck yourself?!" I spat back with a growl.

"You know why don't we teach you a lesson." The first one said putting his hand on his sword.

The others nodded and did the same as him. I was going to get in to a fighting stance but a group of three ponies with dack cloaks walked in between us. The taller of the three turned and walked up to me.

"We leave you alone for just a little and you somehow pick a fight." The figure said.

'That voice Oi now that voice. ' I thought looking at the figure in front of me and started to take notice of my surroundings.

"I'm happy to see your ok those two were worried sick about you. Also play along." Dawn said whispering the last part to me.

"How the buck are you three!?" One of the sols demands.

"Part of the night guard." Dawn said undoing his cloak and letting it fall to the ground. The others do the same.

"What the buck? Why do you have two mares in armor with you?" One of the guards asks.

"Well if you must know. The two of the are part of my unit and my heard." Dawn said as Scoots and Midnight walk over to us and stand next to me.

"Bull shit! Its illegal to have more then one mare in a single heard!" A guard argues.

"Normally yes but not for thestrals." Dawn counters.

"Give me your names and ranks!" One demands.

"Very well. I'm lieutenant Dawn Shield. And going from left to right. This is specialist Midnight Light, specialist Moon Rune and specialist Scootaloo." Dawn said introducing us all.

The lot of them start to look nervous and then they walk away. We leave the field and head into the castle.

"Thank luna we found you!" Midnight cheered and hoped on to me with a hug.

"Yea what she said." Scoots adding herself to the hug.

I gave them both a passionate kiss each. "Oi missed ya all so much. Ya have no idea how bad Oi wanted to get back ta ya."

"From the look of that kiss you just gave them, we can tell. Now we're my loving?" Dawn the spread his area.

I walked over and gave him a hug. "Oi missed ya dude."

"Dido Moon. Now let's go find Princess Luna she left us to find you and did not look to happy." Dawn said.

I froze in place as what he said just hit me and gave him a worried look. "Princess Luna came with the lot of ya?"

He nodded. "Yea why?"

Before I could answer his a explosion went off in the castle. We all looked at each other and ran in the direction of the sound.

"Give her back you whorse!!" as we got to the throne room we could hear mum yelling. We ran into the room just as Nightmare put a barrier up to block a magic bolt.

"Who are you!! And who are you talking about?!" Nightmare yelled putting more magic into her spell.

"Don't play dumb with me!! I know you have my daughter!!! Now give Moon Rune back!!" Mum yelled stopping up to the barrier.

"Buck me." I whispered so low that noponie could hear it.

"What!!!" The twins behind me yelled but I stayed focused on the two alicorns in front of me.

"Tell me were she is before I send you back to the bucking moon!!" Mum hissed. I saw her eye and noticed that they had become more like Nightmares.

Without thinking I tackled mum from the side. The two of us rolled for a little before jumping up in a defensive position. Well mum defensive me ready to run.

"Moon?" Mum asked and I just nodded.

Mum sat up and pulled me into a tight hug using her wings. I let out a sigh and hugged her back letting her know that i was alright.

"Mum ya need ta stop. The Nightmare Moon of this world is not the same as in ours." I told her hugging her tightly.

"Fune but I still dont trust her." Mum said with a huff.

"Umm.. Sorry to interrupt but can we talk about the baskalis in the room?" Midnight asked giving me the stink eye.

"Yes. Please now that things have calmed down some." Nightmare said lowering her shield.

"Okay ask what you will we shall try and answer the best we can." Mum said letting me go.

"First off, my I ask who you are?" Nightmare Moon asked.

"I'm am Princess Luna, co-ruler of Equestria and Princess of the Night." Mum said.

"And my sometimes over protective mum." I added getting a slap in the head from her wing.

Nightmare just stared at us Midnight look mad, Dawn look surprised and Scoots just shuck her head. My ears stud up as the sounds of hooves got closer to the room. Looking back Shining Armor, the Elements and the princes entered. With a quick hand motion my team came to stand by me and mum. The Elements and the guards in their infinite wisdom got in front of the princes.

"By order of the crown stand down!" Shining Armor yelled.

"By da God's your a broken record." I face palmed.

"What seems to be happening here?" Solaris asked raising a eyebrow.

"Well Solaris this mare has come to get Moon Rune and take her home." Nightmare said pointing to mum.

"Tis true. I have come with my guards to get my daughter." Mum said.

"I see. You must be Luna." Solaris asked and mum gave him a nod. "Your daughter has told us much about you."

"Not to interrupt you all but could you have your guard stand down? I'm not liking the looks they are giving us." Scoots asked pointing out that the guard were getting ready for a fight.

Solaris sent the guards away and the five of us and them went to the dining room. The princes and mum talked about the differences between the two worlds. The Elements would ask questions. Me and my team just sat at the far end of the table and waited for them to finish their conversation.

I was eager to get home so I could make up to Scoots and Mids for missing our date. By the time we left it was almost noon. When we dot to the mirror we all said our goodbyes to each other. I walked up to the mirror and taped it to see if it was working and to my glee it was working. Looking back at the other I nodded then walked in to it.
