Spoiled Rotten, Diamond Rough
5: Huh
Previous Chapter“So, Bloom…”
Diamond slung a sidelong glance at the girls around her. She’d hoped to find a moment alone, but Sweetie and Silver Spoon were constantly underhoof as they chased Scootaloo around the dorm in the hopes of making her look her best for the track meet that afternoon. Luckily for Di, they were so caught up in preparations that a few vague dismissals about her weekend had seemed to satisfy their curiosity.
Bloom was a little less surreptitious. “Yeah, I dunno what I was expecting,” she said loudly, throwing her hindlegs up onto the table, “but it wasn’t what I got.”
“So…” Her gaze slipped down to the front of Bloom’s jeans. Honestly, Di couldn’t tell. Bloom had taken to wearing jeans long before the weekend they’d just endured, and her usual loose-fitting clothes did nothing to answer her burning question. Personally, Di had opted for one of her mother’s dresses for decency’s and secrecy’s sakes. “Did you…”
“Yeah!” Bloom giggled and leaned in toward Di, who couldn’t help but watch her seams flex. “Applejack does this thing now where I say ‘down!’ and she’ll just sit and listen, just like one of the pups at the farm! It’s great!”
Di’s eyes widened at the possibilities that traipsed through her mind.
“I’ll have to find an antidote for the long run,” Bloom continued, oblivious to her friend’s nervous glances, “but she isn’t mad or anything. Just embarrassed. Says it’s nice to be able to sit and listen without her pride and stubbornness getting in the way, but she doesn’t really like how it happened, you know?”
“But what about…” She took a minute to “You know, the second potion. Did you…”
“Nope! I didn’t need any extra confidence once AJ stopped treating me like a foal.” She crossed her hooves behind her head and smiled proudly at the ceiling. “Felt like a friendship lesson all over again.”
“Oh.”
“Why? You need an antidote for that too?”
“Couldn’t hurt,” she mumbled. It was fun, sure, but she didn’t want to make dresses a staple of her wardrobe. “So, Bloom…” Her hooves rested upon her lap, as if she could hold back the faint pressure that she could feel building there. “Can I have your dose?”
After all, she was having dinner with her parents again next weekend, and she knew a certain stallion who could use some… motivation.
Bloom shook her head. “Nah, I gave it to Scoots.”
A voice rang out from the other room. “What the f— Awesome!"
