Spike Drake, an average eighteen year-old who lost his parents two years ago; is now living on his own with the help of his best friend, Twilight Sparkle and her family when one day some sort of 'bird' falls out of the sky in front of him. After risking his life to save/nurture it back to health Spike is made into a magician via the 'bird' which turned out to be a goddess.

After being taught the 'basics' of magic Spike is convinced to transfer into Twilight's school where one of his first assignments is to summon a familiar. However, much to everyone's amazement Spike summons a familiar that's way stronger than any other familiars.
