The Dragon Bounty Hunter
Spike You Got Some Splanin To Do Pt.3
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSpike took a few more deep breaths, trying to get the air back into his lungs. He looked at the room, the ring was on the floor, Eve, Sophie and Belle were playing with a massive ball of yarn, Discord was sitting in a floating throne as everyone was enjoying some soup. Spike blinked, he was trying to process everything he saw. "Um..." Said Spike.
Everyone looked at the now alive dragon. The trio of animals looked at their master and pounced on him. "MASTER!" Cheered the three headed beast. Spike laughed as he was getting licked by Belle's tongue, it wasn't as weird as Eve's, but it was still weird.
Spike sighed. "Hey girls, I miss anything?"
Sophie slithered up between their bodies and looked at Spike. "Sorry about them, Discord laced the ball of yarn with some strong cat nip and he somehow made goat nip as well and added it too. Their out of control right now."
Spike nodded. "Thanks for the update Sophie." Spike used his strength to pick up the giggling mess that is his new friend. He looked at the ball of yarn and shot a strong flame at it, burning it to ashes. "Sophie, can you keep them in one place for a while, until it wares off?" Asked Spike.
Sophie nodded her head. "I can, master."
Spike smiled as he put them down on the ground. Spike picked up the ring and walked over to Discord. "Hey Discord, it worked."
Discord looked down. "Good, I was wondering how you were doing. Did you meet Death or Grim?"
Spike nodded. "I did, a little heads up about her would've been welcome, but I got to know, what size is she?" Asked Spike.
Discord nodded as he pulled out a white board from his throne. "Well, I've never seen her myself, but from what I could gather, she's bigger then a C, but smaller than F."
Spike nodded. "Yeah, that tracks, but I'm leaning towards the latter, probably D cups bordering on E's."
Discord nodded as he added to his notes. "So how was everything else, how is Tiamat doing?"
"She's doing well, so is my dad and Grandma Lilith. Next time I go visit them, their going to be taking me around the afterlife, we're going to see the family pet, and their cave. But as for mom, she wasn't happy when I told her that Death tried to hit on me."
Discord laughed. "Yeah, that's nothing new for her. She was always protective of what was hers." Discord then gave Spike a extra bowl of soup and a spoon. "Here, dying is not easy work, you won't be doing that much for a while."
Spike smiled as he took the bowl. "Thanks Discord." Spike took the spoon and began to eat. The soup was great, it was thick like a chowder, but light like vegetable soup. Spike looked at Discord. "I didn't know you could cook."
Discord laughed as he gave Spike the recipe for the soup. "This is for you." Said Discord as he was now in a robe. He turned blue and became transparent, he started to fade out of existence. "Good luck and remember, life is meaningless, without a little chaos to spice it up." Said Discord, he was gone, leaving with the last words as echoes in the wind.
Spike nodded as he took a seat next to the others. "Hey guys, sorry about that, I was just visiting my parents." Said Spike as he took a sip of the soup. He looked at the others. "So what'd I miss?" Asked Spike.
"Well we know how you and Gabby got to know each other, and might I say, it's very sweet of you for listening to her for so long." Said Twilight.
Spike shrugged. "I just did what was right, she was upset and I just can't say no to a cute girl who's upset." Said Spike as he took a sip of the soup.
Gabby blushed, 'Did he just call me cute?' Thought Gabby.
Rarity looked at Spike and Gabby, and something felt off, but she brushed it away for the moment. "Yes, our Spikey Wikey has always had such a kind soul. I believe that came from his mother."
Spike laughed at hearing that, he looked at Rarity. "Rarity, if your talking about Celestia, then your right, but if your talking about my birth mother, then you are so far down the rabbit hole, you could say hi to Tirek in Tartarus."
Everyone gave Spike a confused look, "Really, Tiamat wasn't kind?" Asked Rarity.
Spike shrugged. "From what I know about her, I would say she's actually very nice, when she wants to be. But if you get on her bad side, she can make your life a living hell. For example, the second time I died, I was still trying to come to terms with the whole death thing. But that didn't last long, the moment she saw me, she started to pound my head into the floor, I was fine though, by that time I was in my prime and couldn't feel anything. Or how about the fifth time I died. I drowned in the sewers of the gambling town of Seedbank after I was done collecting my target. Well it turns out that if you drown, the water from reality goes with you into the afterlife, where you can get it removed. My mom did that when she kicked me so hard in the gut, that I emptied out my lungs in the living world. And just now, she's planning something involving Death and poker night." Spike smiled at the memories. "Aww, good times."
Everyone was shocked. The griffons were shocked to hear that Spike had died multiple times, and the ponies were shocked to hear that Death was a real person. Spike looked at the group, he was confused on what was wrong. "What?" Asked Spike, not really seeing the problem.
"You've died?" Yelled Gabby, Gilda and Gallus. Gruff was asleep, but he had a pass, he was in his late 80's, and griffons are greedy, they'll squeeze out all their time up to the last second, and not while asleep.
"Death is a real person?" Yelled the ponies.
Spike sighed. "Yes, she is real. In fact, she runs the afterlife with her son, Grim. she is very nice but also very promiscuous, so when I go back I'll be looking out for her." Said Spike, he looked at the griffons. "And yes, I've died 11 times now, but since my mother was a god, her boss gave her some extra time on her soul, the same with my father, since they were mates, they both got the same amount of time. In reality they both could of survived for another 10000 years or so, but after the final battle with Grogar, my mother, Tiamat gave up her extra time to keep my egg alive, and after my father, Bahamut reached the end of his natural life, he decided to do the same, because he couldn't find my egg. I also found out that I have 754 years of their time left." Said Spike, he took another sip of the soup.
He looked at the others and smiled. "So aside from dying a moment ago, I don't really have much more to tell, so lets get to the part where I was gone for ten years." Said Spike.
Gabby sighed as she nodded at Spike. "Spike, I read the newspaper yesterday, I have a lot of questions, but the real big one is, where were you?"
Spike laughed as he finished his soup. "Well, it all started 10 years ago, 2 years for everyone else. I was helping Twilight with a spell..."
One summery of the previous 10 years of Spike's life later. "And we just got back this afternoon, any questions?" Asked Spike.
All the griffons nodded their heads. "About 20000." Said Gabby.
Spike laughed at the answer. "Not as many as I thought you would have, but can we limit it to around 10. I need to go find someone today and I'm going to get a ear full from him." This statement confused everyone, but that didn't stop Gabby from thinking of her 10 questions that she wanted to know.
"Ok, how strong are you?" Asked Gabby.
"Well, I'm able to lift around 10 tons and I can punch solid rock, but that's right now. I haven't had time to test out the benefits of Valiant Mode, so that could go up." Responded Spike.
"So cool. How fast are you?" Asked Gabby, she was giddy to learn about the new Spike.
Spike shrugged. "Eh, no clue, on all fours I'm pretty quick, flying not so sure." He looked at Gabby. "Maybe next time your in town we can take a fly and see, how does that sound?"
Gabby blushed, but she nodded slowly. 'Did he just ask me out?' Thought Gabby. "Sure that sounds nice." Said Gabby.
Hearing this made Spike smile. "Cool, just tell me when and I'll make sure to be there." Said Spike.
Gilda sighed, she was more interested in hearing about Spike than her cousin's love life. "Ok, great, its a date, can we get back to the questions?" She looked at Spike. "Ok, so what are you planning on doing now that your back?" Asked Gilda.
Spike shrugged again. "Well, I'm still going to be a bounty hunter, I'll go around searching for criminals, helping towns in need, traveling to new places, that sorta thing, but not for a while. I'm still trying to reconnect with everyone first." Said Spike.
Gilda shrugged as she leaned back on the wall. "Cool, I guess." Said Gilda.
Gallus was curious about something so he looked at Twilight. "Um, Princess Twilight, is the name of the school going to change now that Prince Spike is not dead?"
Twilight looked at Spike. "Um, I'm not sure actually." She looked at Spike. "Do you want us to change it?"
Spike shrugged. "I don't really care, I'm honored that you decided to name it after me, but it really wouldn't bother me, If you did." Said Spike.
Rainbow Dash sighed as she was really getting tired of getting sidetracked. "Gabby, what else did you want to ask Spike?"
Gabby snapped out of her thoughts. "Sorry, right." She looked at Spike. "What about those creatures from earlier, what are they?" Asked Gabby.
Spike nodded. "Sure, that's easy to answer, but lets use the short explanation method." Said Spike as he pulled out seven ammo tubes except the Stingbees. He looked at the griffons. "Um, you might want to stand back, Fang can be a little over protective of me and their still in their Power Mode, so distance is the best option for everyone they don't know." Said Spike. He looked at Bell, Eve and Sophie, the former two had come down from the Nip ball. "Girls, you three need to stay as far back as possible, they might attack you on sight. With that being said, I will protect you from them, but they still want to get payback for Queen and the hive." Said Spike.
They nodded as they moved away from Spike. She was followed by the group of griffons, all of which didn't want to see the creatures that made something like a Chimera terrified.
Once Everyone was clear, Spike released the seven groups of creatures, filling the room.
Spike looked at all of the creatures, they were in their Power Mode. "Hey, eyes front." Said Spike, the whole room fell silent as everyone was looking at Spike for orders. "Ok, I know you have all heard about Queen and the hive."
"Yeah, where is that taxidermist fever dream? I still want to have a quick chat with it." Said Alvin.
Spike sighed. 'This isn't going to be easy.' Thought Spike. "First off, I have come to an understanding with them, they have agreed to apologize to Queen and the others they hurt. On that note, it was our fault that they were here in the first place. It turns out that the pack of Timberwolfs we ran out of the area, made their way to the Chimeras former home. Knowing this, I have offered to let them stay here with you all." Said Spike.
Char started to sign to Spike. He nodded. "Yes, I know its a stupid idea, and yes I know you are still upset about it. But have you met us, we practically live off stupid ideas, and they always turn out for the best." Said Spike. Char face palmed at Spike, she signed one more sentence. He started to laugh at her as he rubbed her head. "You know it, but you still love me Char."
Spike looked at the group. "Ok, with that out of the way..." He looked at Belle, Eve and Sophie. "Girls, you can come here and meet the others." Said Spike.
The sisters moved right next to Spike. They looked at the group of creatures that were all staring at them. Belle gave a nervous chuckle. "Um, Hi." Said Belle. "If it helps, we didn't know that you all lived here."
"It doesn't." Said Alvin.
Eve sighed. "Look, because of Master, we lost our home. We followed the scent the pack left and wound up here, and we looked around and found no one living here, the place was empty. We didn't expect to see a bunch of flying creatures here, we only attacked them, because we didn't want to lose another home."
Sophie sighed. "Yes, but thanks to Master, we have learned from our mistake, and we wish to apologize for what we have done."
All three lowered their heads, hoping for forgiveness. "Fine, but your on thin ice with us, you hear me." Said Alvin.
Spike nodded. "Good, now lets get the others here." Said Spike.
The griffons nodded as they walked over to Spike. "Ok, everyone, these are some more of my friends." Said Spike. "We have Gilda, Gallus, Gruff, and Gabby." Said Spike as he pointed to all of the griffons.
Gabby looked at the group of creatures with wide eyes. "Oh my goodness, they're adorable." Said Gabby.
After the meet and greet, everyone was sitting around the fire, Gabby was covered in a mixture of all the ammo, Grampa Gruff was asleep with Banger nuzzled up in his fez. Gilda was looking at Pinkie and Sparks trying to talk to each other, and Gallus was sitting around looking bored.
Spike laughed as he got up. "Well, I'm going to be right back, I'm going to go get my son." Said Spike.
This made the room fall silent. Twilight looked at Spike. "Yeah, tell him aunt Twilight says hi."
Spike laughed. "Sure, will do." Said Spike as he shot a flame at his feet, sending himself to Peewee's location.
Once Spike was gone. Everyone looked at Twilight. Gabby grabbed Twilights shoulders and started shaking her. "Spike has a son?" Asked Gabby.
Twilight sighed as she removed Gabby from her person. "Kinda." She looked to Rarity and Rainbow Dash. "Remember the phoenix egg, when Spike followed the migration?" Asked Twilight.
This cleared the confusion from all the ponies. "Aw, that's right, Spike did raise him from the moment he hatched didn't he?" Asked Rainbow.
Twilight nodded. "Yep, I was wondering when Spike was going to remember Peewee."
After a short flight, Spike reemerged at the base of a large tree. He looked around hoping to find Peewee, but all he saw was the tree. "Ok, so he must be in the tree." Spike opened his wings and started to ascend the tree looking for his little Peewee. Spike started at the base of the tree and moved up looking at each level of branches for some sign of a phoenix nest. Spike first stopped at a large bore hole in the tree and looked inside, there he found a squirrel feeding her little squirrel baby. She looked at Spike and got mad at the intrusion, she threw a acorn right into Spikes face, and chittered something that would of given Fluttershy a heart attack. "Sorry ma'am." Said Spike as he went to the next level.
He found a nest hanging on a branch, but it was way too small for a phoenix to live, seeing that normally phoenixes are over 3 feet tall when they stood straight up. This was probably meant for a robin or something the same size. But there weren't any eggs and it looked half built so unless he wanted to get his eyes pecked out, Spike moved on to the next level.
This continued for a few more levels, Spike ran into a owl that brought up some very annoying memories, and after questioning the bird for a few minutes, led no where. Then he found a family of chipmunks, thankfully these didn't talk back and cuss like no other. Lastly he ran into a rather rude racoon that gave Spike the bird and not the one he was looking for. Spike sighed as he reached the top of the tree, and sitting near the top was a fully completed nest, it was just the right size for a phoenix to live, but oddly enough Peewee was no where to be seen. Spike looked down into the nest and found a pile of ash sitting inside of it. Spike poked the ash and smirked at it. "Ok, your not Philomena, get back together and see your old man." Said Spike.
Suddenly the ash pile ignited into a large fire ball. Spike smiled at seeing the fire ball. When Peewee first hatched all those years ago, Spike had brought him to meet his mother's pet phoenix Philomena, he was hoping that she would teach him how to be a phoenix. She did and then some, Peewee decided to take after his new aunt's sense of humor. But thankfully Spike had grown up with Philomena, and became desensitized to the sight of a bird burning to ash, so the first time he saw Peewee do it, Spike only went into a small panic attack.
Once the ball of fire died down, standing in the nest was a fully grown phoenix, his orange and yellow feathers were pristine and well groomed. His crest feathers were slicked back and if he didn't know any better he might of looked like a prime male specimen for his species. Spike gave him a dead pan look. "You done?" Asked Spike.
Peewee shook his head, he then gave a cocky smirk. Peewee dropped the smirk, and smiled at Spike. Spike smiled back. "Hey boy, how you been?"
Peewee flew over to Spike and wrapped his wings around his fathers head. Spike smiled at seeing that Peewee was happy to see him, but he didn't have a place to sit, so he started to drop to the ground so they could talk.
When Spike reached the ground, he sat on the ground and leaned up against the tree. He pried off Peewee from his face and smiled at him. "Hey, aunt Twilight says hi." Peewee smiled, he flew to the ground and perched on Spike's leg and started to squawk and move his wings. Spike nodded. "Your telling me, also why didn't you come visit before hand, it's not like I could fly back then." Peewee squawked back. "Hey don't use that tone of squawk with me, I taught you how to lie, I can tell your hiding something, now cough it up right now." Said Spike.
Peewee slumped as he pointed to a nest in the tree, it was close to the top but just below Peewees nest. Peewee squawked loudly, and moments later a female phoenix popped her head out, she flew down and perched on Spikes other leg. She looked at Peewee and nuzzled his neck affectionately, Peewee hummed. Spike smirked at seeing his boy already had a mate. "So who's she?" Asked Spike.
Peewee blushed as he looked away. He squawked at his mate and she nodded. She flew back to her nest and disappeared. Peewee pointed up and flew up to the nest as well. Spike looked up. "No, really?" Asked Spike as he flew up to the second nest. Sitting in the nest was both phoenixes, but the female was sitting on something special, an egg. Spike dropped his jaw, he looked to Peewee. "And your the father, right?" Asked Spike. Peewee nodded as he got close to his mate and soon to be child. Spike smiled at seeing that his son had started a family. "Poor kid." Said Spike. Peewee and his mate squawked shockingly. "Calm down, I don't know about you mama, but Peewee has too much of me in him, he was snarky, sarcastic, witty, along with thinking he was great looking." The female nodded. She looked at Peewee and squawked. Peewee slumped and sighed. She giggled at her mate. "I'm worried that he will rub off on the next generation, so for me, give him a good swat to the head when he needs it, and if you ever feel like dropping by Ponyville or Canterlot, I want to hold my grandson." She nodded as she pulled out one of her feathers and gave it to Spike.
Spike smiled at seeing this. Celestia told Spike that to show the bond between a pair of phoenixes, they will exchange a feather. She had gotten a feather from Philomena when she grew close to her, and right before Spike returned Peewee to the wild, he had given him one of his feathers. Spike smiled at the feather, he reached out a claw and scratched the females head. "Welcome to the family. Would you mind if I gave you a name?" Asked Spike.
She shook her head. Spike hummed in thought, he was trying to think of a good name for a female phoenix. "How about Kenna, it means one born of fire and finely made."
She nodded her head, happy to have a name of her own. Spike smiled as he laughed. "I'm glad you like it, hey do me a favor and help Peewee live a long happy life, I have a place for him and you too when you guys think it's your time." She nodded as she draped a wing over Peewee. Spike smiled as he flew back to not set the tree on fire. "Peewee, don't screw this up." Said Spike as he sent himself back to Twilight and the others.
When Spike popped back into the castle, he landed on his feet. He looked around and noticed that most of the ponies were gone, only Twilight and Rarity were left along with all four griffons. Belle, Eve and Sophie and all the ammo were gone as well. Spike walked over to the group, and sat down on a stone. "So, how was Peewee?" Asked Twilight.
Spike shrugged. "Pretty good, I'm a grandpa apparently and he has a mate, her names Kenna."
Twilight nodded. "Ok, well, I was waiting for you to come back, I'm going to head back home and get ready for tomorrow's trip." Said Twilight as she teleported back to the castle.
Rarity nodded as well. "And I must get back to my shop and get started on fixing your outfit. I'll bring them by before the Q&A starts Wednesday." She walked over to Spike and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. "Don't stay out too late Spike." Said Rarity, she took a few steps back and teleported back to her home.
Spike chuckled as he placed his hand on his cheek. Gabby growled slightly at seeing that, so she tried to one up her. She walked over to Spike and smiled at him. "Hey Spike, it's a long flight back to Griffonstone, so we're going to head back." Said Gabby.
Spike smiled as he nodded at Gabby. "Ok, Gabs." Spike pulled her into a hug. Gabby smiled as she returned the hug.
When they broke the hug, Gabby looked at Spike and pushed up to his face and gave him a kiss on the opposite cheek. Spike was shocked as he watched Gabby walk back to her family. She turned around one more time and gave him a friendly wave goodbye. Spike watched Gabby and her family start flying back to their home. He sat back down on the ground, he just got kissed by his childhood crush and his pen pal and friend. Spike groaned, as he placed his head into his hands. "I'm not in the mood to have this major interpersonal debate right now. I'm going to head home." Said Spike. He pulled out the Stingbee tube and released the hive.
Spike looked at the hive, Queen and her escort were able to fly, but they looked beat up. "Everyone, take it slow, and get Queen and the injured back to the hive." Said Spike. The hive buzzed once and flew off with Queen and their wounded back.
Spike sighed, he shot a flame at his feet and teleported himself back to the castle. He popped up right in front of Twilight but he just walked past her, still trying to think about what happened to him moments ago. He walked himself up to his room and plopped down on the bed, falling asleep the moment his head hit the pillow.
