Dragon on the Moon
Coffee Break
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWhen Spike and Luna got to the streets it was already starting to snow lightly. Spike looked at Luna. "We better hurry." Said Spike. Luna nodded as the 2 of them quickly made it down the street and took the corner. They reached a coffee shop called Carapace Coffee, and Spike smiled at seeing who was working the counter, but that smiled fell the moment he saw the glare she was giving him when she saw him outside. Spike gulped. "Luna, I might die in the next few minutes so if that happens, I just want you to know that I love you." Said Spike.
Luna looked at the woman in the coffee shop. "Wait isn't that Thorax's mother, Ms. Carapace?"
Spike nodded. "Yep, me and Thorax have been good friends since middle school and that means that I've known Ms. Chrysalis for a long time." Said Spike as he walked to the door and opened it. "Hi, Aunt Chrissy." Said Spike worried she was going to snap.
"You have three seconds to tell me what happened to you or I'm going to tell Velvet that your here." Said the tall woman with dark green hair, and an apron on. She looked at Spike as she walked out from around the counter and walked over to the teenager. She then pulled Spike into a tight hug. "Spike, when I turned on the news Monday, and heard what happened I was so worried about you."
Spike sighed seeing that he wasn't going to get a lecture. He returned the hug. "Yeah, it’s a long story Aunt Chrissy, but please don't call my mom, I've been cooped up in the apartment for the last two days, and I just needed to get some fresh air." Said Spike.
Chrysalis released the hug on the boy and looked at him. "Ok, I won't tell Velvet, but let me get you something hot to drink, you'll catch your death out there." Said Chrysalis, she then looked at Luna. "Ms. Solaris, what are you doing here?" Asked Chrysalis, she was surprised to see the vice principal of her son's high school at the door to her shop.
Luna walked in to the establishment. "It's nice to see you again Ms. Carapace, how is Thorax fairing at ManeHatten University?" Asked Luna. She was the one who helped Thorax apply for the university and the second one he told when he was accepted.
Chrysalis smiled. "He's doing very well, though I do miss my little baby very much. But you didn't answer my question."
Luna sighed. "Well, if you have the time, I'll explain." Said Luna.
Chrysalis nodded. "Trust me, I'm not expecting a large crowd so close to the storm, in fact, you two will probably be my last two customers for the day."
Luna nodded. "Ok, then I'll take a vanilla bean mocha."
Chrysalis nodded. "One mocha coming up, and Spike you want your usual?" Spike nodded. "Ok, one mocha and a triple shot hot coco, with extra whip cream." She gave Spike a kiss on the cheek and walked to the counter to start the orders. Luna and Spike took a seat in one of the booths and sat down.
Spike looked at Luna, she was giggling. "What's so funny?" Asked Spike.
Luna pointed at Spike's cheek. "She marked you." Said Luna.
Spike groaned. "Aunt Chrissy!" Yelled Spike. He and Luna could hear Chrysalis giggling. Spike sighed as he grabbed a napkin and wiped away the lipstick mark that Chrysalis left on his cheek. Spike looked at Luna. "So, Ms. Solaris, what are you thinking for dinner tonight?" Asked Spike.
Luna hummed in thought. "Well, Spike, I was thinking of making some chicken breasts for dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans." Said Luna.
Spike nodded. "We should have all of that in the fridge. So, I don't think that will be a problem." Said Spike.
Chrysalis then walked over to the pair and took a seat next to Spike. "Here you go, you two. One mocha for Ms. Solaris and one hot coco for my little Spike." Said Chrysalis. She then looked to Luna. "Now, tell me why you are here?" Asked Chrysalis.
Luna took a sip of the drink and looked at Chrysalis. "Well, Ms. Carapace, the incident that hurt Spike was caused by my stupid idea and the at the time, unknown shady dealings of the pervious vice principal. But in all honesty, I never meant to hurt Spike."
Chrysalis glared at Luna. "What happened?" Asked Chrysalis.
Luna sighed. "Originally, Spike was to help the librarian, Raven Inkwell, restock the books, but over the weekend she sprained her ankle, I told my sister that I wouldn't mind helping Spike in the library on Monday. We met up that morning and got to work. About 8 am, I was trying to put one of the books up on the top shelf, I was careless and wasn't thinking. Spike noticed what I was doing and ran over to help me down."
Spike nodded. "That's when she shifted something, and the book case started to topple over, I rushed over to stop it from crushing her, I used my body to prop it up for her to get clear."
Luna looked sad at remembering what she did. "Yes, so I jumped out of the way, and once I was safe, Spike tried to get out as well."
Spike sighed. "I wasn't quick enough to get out of the way. The last thing I remember before waking up in the hospital was Ms. Solaris screaming my name." Said Spike.
Luna nodded. "Yes. After that I used some of the thinks my older brother taught me about treating broken limbs. I propped the bookcase up using some books. Then I pulled Spike out from under it. I applied a simple splint and called 9.1.1. They showed up a few minutes later and wheeled Spike to the ambulance, I rode with him to the hospital, and waited for his parents to arrive, where I told them everything that happened. They were not mad, but they were worried about his education. So, I promised to bring him all of his assignments and teach him all the things he's missed." Said Luna.
Spike smiled. "Ms. Solaris has been doing a great job, and I'm glad she's helping me." Said Spike. Luna smiled at hearing this.
Chrysalis sighed. "Ms. Solaris, thank you for taking care of my little Spike."
Luna nodded as she took another sip of the drink. "Well, I needed to take responsibility for what happened, and he has been a perfect gentleman." Said Luna. 'Well, outside of the bedroom at least.' Thought Luna. She looked outside and noticed that the storm was picking up strength. "Spike, it looks like we should head back to the apartment. The storm is picking up."
Spike looked outside. "Damn, it really is." He looked at Chrysalis. "Aunt Chrissy, head upstairs and hunker down, I have a feeling that it's going to be bad." He then kissed her cheek. "Thanks for the drinks. Tell T I miss him." Said Spike. Chrysalis's shop was above her home, so she was never late for work.
Chrysalis smiled as she gave Spike a hug. "You too Spike, please be safe." Said Chrysalis. She looked at Luna. "Ms. Solaris, please be careful on your drive home." Said Chrysalis.
Luna smiled. "I will." Said Luna, she didn't want to tell her that she was going to be staying with Spike and Twilight for the rest of the week.
The two walked out of the coffee shop and back to the apartment. Luna looked at Spike. "So, Spike, are you ready to take down the boss?" Asked Luna.
Spike nodded. "I've been ready for a while, but what about your account, I don't have a second computer for you?" Asked Spike.
Luna smiled as they arrived at the front of the apartment. Luna unlocked her car and pulled out a computer bag. "Don't worry, I have my gaming laptop." Said Luna.
Spike smiled. "Let’s log in." Said Spike as the two got upstairs to finish what started their relationship.
