Luster Dawn has always been an eager student and a hard worker. However while learning about friendship she is given a mission by Princess Twilight Sparkle to become friends with a special stallion with a starling secret who also has never had a friend before and is refusing to make any for personal reasons. After reluctantly accepting the task Luster Dawn moves in with Spearmint and his family in Ponyville where she begins her mission to befriend this friendless stallion.

As Luster Dawn and Spearmint's relationship progresses they are unsure whether they should stay friends or reveal their feelings.
