DiscoveryView OnlinePrincess of MemoriesDiscoveryBirds were singing, flowers were blooming, people were asking Twilight to let them study her talking dog. So far, it seemed like a perfectly ordinary day in Other-Questria. "AAAAAAAH!" Today wasn't a normal day for a certain Wallflower Blush, though, who woke up to see strange markings on her face, starting on the edges of her eyes. Not only that, but the patterns of the markings resembled that of the memory stone, a magical artifact that Wallflower wished to forget about. "Where did this come from?!" Wallflower exclaimed in shock. "I don't remember painting this!" Suddenly, the door creaked open. "Wallflower?" It was Sunset's voice. "S-Sunset?!" Wallflower grabbed the first thing she could find, a towel, and used it to cover her face. "Fwa ahw ya oih n ah oom?!" "What am I doing in your room?" Sunset replied, earning a nod from Wallflower. "You called me here in order to come pick you up, remember?" "Oh, ah orgo." "Okay, now, before we go," Sunset grabbed the towel and gently started pulling. "Could you tell me what are you doing with a towel covering your face?" "Hmm... Ahionh hahehan?" "Fashion Statement or not, I'm afraid I'm going to need you to take it off." "Eah ih aon!" Wallflower tightened her grip. "Wallflower, I'm sorry, but you can't go to Canterlot High with a towel on your head!" "Ah anh yh!" "Wallflower, seriously, take it off!" What followed was a test of strength between the girls, one that lasted seconds before Sunset pulled so hard, she brought both the towel and Wallflower to the ground. And with this action, Sunset got a faceful of Wallflower's fancy new facepaint. Her reaction was... Subdued: "Wallflower, when did you get into facepaint?" Wallflower jumped and backed away, putting her hands on her cheeks as she answered, "I didn't! I woke up and found these things on my face! They don't even feel like they were painted on!" Sunset got up. "Really?" "Here, let me show you," Wallflower grabbed one of Sunset's hands and made her touch her cheek. "See? Completely flat! Even thin paint would leave a sensation, but this one doesn't!" "You're right, but you know what?" Sunset smiled. "That only lets me get to see how soft your skin is." Wallflower blushed and backed away. "Don't mess with me like that!" "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you feel weird," Sunset stood up and dusted herself. "Anyway, I also noticed that's the same pattern as the memory stone." "Yeah, I think that thing has something to do with it too," Wallflower stood up with Sunset's help. "But how could that be? You and your friends clearly destroyed it months ago!" "Hmm, it could be a residue effect of the memory stone, but then nothing mentions this happening..." Sunset shook her head. "We'll have to talk with Twilight about this later, for now, let's go to Canterlot High and explain-" "You're going to drag me to school even when I look like this?" "Wallflower, there's nothing wrong with you." "Sunset, I have strange facepaint running down my eyes, which resemble the patterns of the memory stone! Even if nobody pays attention to it, which I'd find hard to believe, how are you going to explain this to Principal Celestia?!" "Wallflower is currently suffering from an unforeseen side effect of her usage of the memory stone, a magical artifact from Equestria, so I'm requesting she be at the very least allowed extra time to figure out what this side effect could mean." Wallflower planted her face on Principal Celestia's desk, the absurdity of Sunset's statement being far too heavy for her disbelief. "Wallflower, please refrain from planting your face on my desk," Celestia calmly requested. "I'm sorry, Principal Celestia," Wallflower lifted her head and took a deep breath. "Anyway, what Sunset says is true: the patterns are identical to the stone, and I just woke up with it this morning!" "Hmm... Now that you bring this up, nobody has done any research on the possible side effects of using magic, so this could very well be a result of that," Celestia scratched her chin. "And it would be very problematic if Wallflower suddenly started to use magic powers without having any idea how to control them." After a little more thinking, Celestia came to a conclusion: "Alright, this is what we'll do: Wallflower, until an idea of what's going on with those markings is clear, I'll have you stay at home and try to work out whatever magical powers you may have gained thanks to your use of this memory stone." Wallflower, though shocked at first, eventually nodded with a saddened expression. "Yes, Principal Celestia." Then, the woman turned to Sunset. "Can I trust you to help me with Wallflower's caring? I can help her stay up to date with her classes, but any magical stuff will be relegated to you." "Of course you can trust me, Principal Celestia!" Sunset wrapped her arm around Wallflower. "Even if it takes days or months, I'm going to find a way to help Wallflower deal with this magical anomaly!" Principal Celestia smiled. "Good to know. Now, with this set, go to your classroom, Sunset. I'll tell Luna to take Wallflower back home." Next thing Wallflower knew, she was walking back home, side-to-side with the vice principal of the school. And it was a rather silent walk at that. Not that it was very surprising, since neither Wallflower nor Luna seemed like the talkative type- "I know it must be scary." Okay, maybe Luna was a bit more talkative than she was given credit for. "To have something magical happen to your body, causing it to change in ways you couldn't imagine. I saw Sunset and Twilight go through the same thing before." Wallflower's eyes widened. "What did they do to fix it?" "They got the magical corruption beaten out of them with the power of friendship," Luna let out a chuckle. "But if we're lucky, your case won't need to go that far." Wallflower forced a laugh. "Hey, we're here." The duo stopped on Wallflower's house, and after exchanging a little bow, they separated: Luna walked back to Canterlot High, while Wallflower walked inside... Only to find Trixie of all people sitting on her table, eating a muffin. "Wha-who-why-huh-TRIXIE!" Wallflower snapped as she stomped to the teenager. "What are you doing here?!" "Have you forgotten?" Trixie took a bite out of her muffin. "The Great and Powerful Trixie was assigned as your roommate after the incident with the memory stone." "I'll never understand half the logic Canterlot High's school council runs on," Wallflower rubbed her forehead. "What I mean was, what are you doing back at the house? Shouldn't you be at school?" "Well, that's the thing: The Great and Powerful Trixie was suspended for today because of a previous magic show gone wrong," Trixie took another bite out of her muffin. "But perhaps it's not that bad, Trixie has company with you." "Yeah, maybe-wait a minute," Wallflower raised an eyebrow. "Trixie, did you see I had this weird stuff on my face?" "On your eyes? Yeah, Trixie saw-" "Why didn't you tell me about them, then?!" "It's none of Trixie's business what you decide to do with your face," Trixie grabbed a muffin and put it close to Wallflower's cheek. "Here, have a muffin." As she begrudgingly accepted the gift, Wallflower spat: "Ugh, forget about it!" It was in that moment that Wallflower's markings glowed and light came out of Trixie's eyes that was absorbed by the marks, which kept glowing a light blue shade once Trixie seemingly turned back to normal. "What was that all about?" "Even better, what's up with that paint?" Trixie asked, raising an eyebrow. "Trixie understands you can do whatever you want with yourself, but you could at least ask Trixie about something so gawdy! Even if the colors look nice." "What are you talking about? You just told me you saw my markings this morning!" "Trixie remembers no such things!" Wallflower opened her mouth, but hesitated, realizing what this meant: Trixie had lost her memory. Wallflower had somehow manipulated her memories... Without the memory stone. So, instead, she asked: "Remember this morning?" Wallflower's marks released the light anf it returned to Trixie, returning them to their original state. "Okay, now let's try this," Wallflower frowned. "Trixie, you saw I had these markings on my face this morning, right?" Trixie deadpanly took a bite of her muffin. "Trixie said that, yes. Did Trixie stutter?" Wallflower's eyes widened, and one thing became clear: "I need to contact Sunset. Now." Author's Note MLP may have gotten a conclusive ending, but EG certainly didn't, so I'm planning to write EG fics for a while longer. For now, have this Wallflower-centric story.
LibraryView OnlinePrincess of MemoriesLibraryMystery WJH: What. Just. Happened? One minute, Vignette Valencia was walking around the street, minding her own business. Then, she saw a kid playing on the street about to be run over by a bus, so she bolted to them and tackled them. But then, an odd sound was heard: *VROOM* And then, once Vignette opened her eyes, she saw she and the kid were back at the spot she jumped from. Logic would've dictated they landed at the other side of the walk at least, but for some reason, that wasn't the case. Vignette stood up and released the kid, who ran to their parent as Vignette continued walking, this time losing herself in though. I.S.I.J.F: I swear I jumped forward. At least hard enough to go past the bus. And yet, I landed right back where I jumped. Vignette lifted her head. Was it something I did? "Opal, get down!" Vignette turned around and looked at the source of the familiar voice: Rarity. She was standing near a tree, waving her hands at a white cat that was clinging to a branch. The cat said nothing, and stayed completely still. Should I help? Vignette pondered, scratching her chin. I mean, Rarity would totally not want to see me again after the whole rollercoaster incident, right? But then again, cats can be a pain if dealt with alone, and nobody seems to be going to her aid- "Oh, Vignette!" The girl flinched and forced a smile as she was approached by Rarity, who looked surprisingly happy to see her. "H-Hi, Rarity." "I'm glad I found you," Rarity pointed at the tree. "My cat got stuck on a tree... Again, and I was wondering if you could help me get her down." Vignette frowned. "Nobody else is going to help you?" "I mean, I just got here, and I could wait a little longer, but Opal's bath's coming up and I need her down now." That was a rhethorical question... Is what Vignette wanted to say, but she instead silently climbed the tree and went to Opal's side. The faster it was over, the better. "Okay, little cat," Vignette extended her arms forward. "Come to me. It's time to go back to your owner." Opal hissed and lunged at Vignette, clawing at her face hard enough to cause her to fall off the branch. But before a terrible end could be met, Vignette had one important thought: I want to go back to Rarity! Suddenly, Vignette was surrounded by light before she and Opal disappeared, then reappeared next to Rarity, whose arms Opal jumped into afterwards. As for Vignette, she got a couple scratches, but nothing too serious. "How did you do that?" Rarity asked in awe. "Survive a clawing attack? Easy, I put protective face cream on my face," Vignette answered as she dusted herself. "I used to own a cat, and I can count all my fingers the times it ruined my face with their claws-" "No, not that!" Rarity interjected. "How did you disappear, then reappear next to me?" Vignette paused, looked at where she stood, and slowly processed that she had gone through the same thing she did with that kid: she should've hit the ground, but instead had landed where she wanted. One could even say she teleported to the desired destination. "I have no idea," Vignette answered honestly. "I just thought I wanted to be back with you and not the cat, and boom, here we are." "Hmm... This seems like something Twilight could help you with," Rarity took out her phone and began typing. "Tell you what, I'll tell Twilight to meet you at the park, and she can help you figure out What's up with you." "Do I get a say in this?" "If you want to understand, or try to understand what you did, then no." "Ugh, fine." Vignette walked away as Rarity excitedly called Twilight, and their talk was completely ignored by her, who hoped this Twilight could help her... ... Come to think of it, who was Twilight again? Vignette was going to get her answer soon: she was at the park, at the hour Rarity told her to be at. It was a very good thing she managed to buy a new phone since the rollercoaster incident, else, things might've been more difficult. "Hello!" Vignette turned around and saw a purple-skinned girl with simple clothes and glasses approaching her. "Uh, hello?" Vignette replied. "I'm Twilight Sparkle," the girl said. "I was part of Rarity's friends during the rollercoaster incident." Vignette remained silent, not sure what to respond. "Anyway, you're Vignette Valencia, right?" Twilight asked as she reached for her bag. "I came here to help you figure out what's your magical power." "Teleportation by thought... I think," Vignette answered without hesitation. "Hmm, interesting..." Twilight smiled. "In that case..." Twilight took out a small gadget and flashed a wide smile Vignette couldn't help but find unnerving. "Are you ready for some research?" Vignette frowned. "No." "That's the spirit!" Author's Note Just a short chapter to tie the other main character of this tale. What will happen next? Feel free to guess.
RecoveryView OnlinePrincess of MemoriesRecoveryResearchery "So, let me get this straight," Sunset started. "You told Trixie to forget about something, your markings glew, and next thing she knew Trixie couldn't remember that thing?" "Yeah, and when I asked her if she remembered, the process rewinded the memory back to her," Wallflower added. "I think that's the way the markings work." "From the way you speak, it seems Trixie was of help. And she says, your welcome." "Don't be so calm yet, Trixie," Wallflower said. "I still need to show Sunset how the process works." "Trixie insists that, even though Trixie's so Great and Helpful, she shouldn't be a guinea pig anymore." "We weren't going to use you as a guinea pig, Trixie," Sunset said. "Still, we need someone to use Wallflower's powers on. And I don't think she can use them on herself." Wallflower looked at the ceiling anf scratched her chin, humming with curiosity before Trixie grabbed her arm and dragged her. "Alright, we're going out before you get any crazy ideas." Sunset, Wallflower, and the Great and Third Wheel Trixie walked down the streets, Wallflower barely getting any eyes on her despite her notable markings. "You know, I had the feeling I was going to become the center of attention with these things," Wallflower pouted and folded her arms. "But it seems nobody minds." "Trixie suggests your forgetability is to blame." "Wallflower doesn't appreciate the sass!" "Sunset might have found the perfect candidate!" The girls paused to get their syntax back in place, and they turned to Sunset's target: a certain purple dog digging on the ground, Spike. "Isn't that Twilight's dog?" Wallflower asked, before growing excited at a potential implication. "If Spike's here, then Twilight must be nearby!" "Or Fluttershy, or any of our other friends taking him out for a walk," Sunset added. "Spike doesn't always equal Twilight being around." "Aw." "Oh hey girls!" The girls flinched and looked at Spike as the dog walked to them, Wallflower looking particularly flabbergasted as she said: "Did the dog just talk?" "You get used to it after a while," Spike answered. "Anyway, is there anything I can help you with?" "Yeah," Sunset wrapped her arm around a blushing Wallflower. "My friend Wallflower here gained strange memory powers and I need someone to test it out-" "And your first option was a talking dog?" Spike asked. "Trixie has to agree with the puppy: using those powers on a human is problematic enough, using them on an animal would get Wallflower scorn from everyone!" "Not if she asks first," Spike added. "Do you want to do this?" "I guess, but do you want to?" Wallflower scratched the back of her head. "We can always look for someone else." "Nah, It's fine," Spike tapped the ground. "Twilight went off to test someone else and she left Fluttershy to take care of me, but she got sidetracked watching some swans, so I got nothing better to do." Wallflower eyed Sunset, who gave her an approving nod. Then she turned to Trixie, who did the same. Wallflower promptly walked to the dog, crouched down, and said: "Spike? Forget about..." Wallflower paused and got an idea. "Forget about how to talk." Light came out of Spike as the markings glowed and absorbed it, turning purple in the process. By the time Spike turned to normal, he tried to talk... And all he let out were little barks. "Fascinating, okay, remember how to talk!" The light came out again and returned to Spike, turning everything back to normal. "Whoa-ho! That was weird!" Spike said, putting a paw on his cheek. "I haven't felt like that since before the friendship games!" "Okay, so, from the looks of it," Sunset said as she walked to Wallflower's side. "You can manipulate memories to the extent you can alter certain things; telling someone to forget how to talk would turn that person mute." "It works for dogs," Wallflower said as she brushed Spike's head. "It might work for humans..." Wallflower frowned, and Sunset extended a hand forward. "Let's go test something else before you think too much about that." Wallflower grabbed Sunset's hand... And everything went black. "Wallflower?!" Wallflower opened her eyes, but she was no longer at the park. In fact, she wasn't anywhere in Other-Questria, as far as she could tell. She was at a pitch black void, decorated with rectangular screens showing events... Seemingly playing out from Sunset's point of view. The Fall Formal, the Pillar, Snips and Snails' transformations, even stuff after that like the Battle of the Bands and Camp Everfree. Not that Wallflower recognized the latter two. "Where am I?" "Welcome, visitor!" Wallflower turned around, and to her shock, she saw a girl sitting on top of a pitch black throne. The girl kinda resembled a daemonette, with cherry red skin, black sclera with blue eyes, claws, a red-yellow flaming dress with black boots, demonic wings with holes, pointy ears, and red-yellow hair in the shape of a flame. That's the order of things that caught Wallflower's attention, apparently. "Welcome to Sunset Shimmer's Memory Dumpster!" the demoness greeted. "We don't get visitors very often, you may feel honored. Or disgraced, either one works." "Either one works?" Wallflower parroted. "Who even are you?" "I'm Sunset Shimmer, sweetie. A past version of her anyway," the creature spoke as she stood up and approached Wallflower. "However, having the same name as her... I don't like the idea of that. So, I decided to give myself a different name." The demon paused until she reached Wallflower. "You may call me... Sunshine Luster." "Okay... Sunshine Luster," Wallflower clenched her fists. "Where are we?" Sunshine snapped her fingers, transforming the void from pitch black to an odd grey, with one strange revelation: the rectangular screens hanging around? Sunshine and Wallflower were standing of a pile of them, shaped like the floor. "Like I said, this is Sunset's memory dumpster. The place where Sunset throws away and forgets certain memories." Wallflower winced at the mention of "forgets" and began searching the floor of memories... "Looking for memories about you?" Sunshine asked, grabbing and pulling Wallflower up. "Sorry to tell you this, but look up." Wallflower reluctantly obliged, and the rectangular screens changed, showing events related to herself. A picnic, a date, their first meeting, their actual first meeting.... "Sunset hasn't forgotten about you since you two made peace," Shine bitterly stated. "Now, if only she could make peace with herself in the same way." Wallflower looked at Sunshine. "What do you mean?" "Do you really think I'm here because she forgave herself? No!" Sunshine dropped Wallflower harshly. "I'm here because Sunset would rather forget about what she did than try to make peace with it! I gave her a couple nightmares to see if that would work, but that just resulted in her seeing therapy and looking me away with the rest of these dead memories." Sunshine turned around and folded her arms. "Now, I'm stuck here, watching how Sunset lives her life." Wallflower paused. "Do you know how to get out of here?" "Pst, sure, anybody but me can get out; just last week someone named Pinkie Pie stumbled upon here and left just as quickly." "Well, then I have an idea," Wallflower stood up and dusted herself. "In exchange for helping me get out of here." Wallflower flashed a confident smile. "I'll help you and Sunset make peace." Sunshine raised an eyebrow, but her confusion turned into joy as she realized what this meant... "Wallflower, come on, wake up!" Sunset shouted as she shook her unconscious body. "Please, wake up!" "Trixie thinks It's not working." "Sunset thinks if you're not going to help, then buzz off!" "Wallflower... Thinks... You're too loud..." Sunset, Trixie, and Spike-yeah he was still there-turned and saw Wallflower slowly open her eyes and flash a smile. This was before she stood up, put a hand on her chest, and took a couple steps away form the group. "Wallflower, wait!" Sunset called. "What happened?!" Wallflower stopped, slowly turned around, and with a straight smile she said: "I landed in your memory dumpster, met your evil self, and got out in exchange for helping you make peace with it." Before anybody could process what Wallflower said, she groaned in pain and lowered her head, covering her face as from her back, the same demonic hole wings of Sunshine sprouted from her back. "W-Wallflower?" Sunset stuttered. Wallflower's hair grew bigger and wilder as red streaks spread from the top down to her quills. "What's going on?!" Spike asked. "Trixie's scared!" Finally, Wallflower raised her head to reveal the final changes: her markings were red with yellow lines, and her sclera had turned black. This, along with Wallflower's worried expression, made Sunset realize what had happened... "Wallflower, what have you done?" Author's Note Sunflower Blush, everyone? Or I don't know, what other name do you have for Wallflower's form in the end?
