Mother Son Bonding Time

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

As Celestia was carrying Spike to her room so he could rest after the long day he's had, Spike's stomach had other plans. It growled loudly and echoed down the long hallway. Spike blushed in embarrassment. "Hehe, sorry mom, now that I think about it, I haven't eaten anything since last night."

Celestia smiled. "Spike, it's not a problem, we're near the kitchen's, why don't we stop there and get you some food?"

Spike smiled. "Ok mom, by any chance does this world have a Ms. Platter?" Asked Spike. Ms. Platter or Serving Platter was the personal chef for Celestia and her family. In his world, Spike wanted to surprise Celestia on Mother's day by cooking for her, so he asked Serving Platter to teach him how to cook her favorite meal. But teaching a 7-year-old how to cook a steak to medium rare with a balsamic mushroom reduction and baked potato three ways, in a little over 3 hours was a little too far out of the kind woman's wheelhouse, so they settled on making a pizza instead. But that didn't stop Spike from catching the cooking bug. For the next 2 years, Spike would spend almost all his free time with Serving Platter in the kitchen. So when Mother day came along again, Spike presented Celestia with a beautiful steak cooked to medium rare with a balsamic mushroom reduction and baked potato done three ways, her absolute favorite meal.

Celestia nodded. "We do sweetie, she's the head chef of the palace, what would you like tonight?" Asked Celestia.

Spike hummed in thought. "Well seeing as your a pony, or alicorn, I'm guessing that your an herbivore, so the meat is out..."

"No, not entirely Spike. You see, being a princess of the kingdom is pretty similar to being the CEO of a company, creatures from all around, come here for important meetings. Dragons, Griffons, Lizard Men and Diamond Dogs are just a few of the creatures on this continent that actively eat meat, there are even more on the other side of the world. So as a show of good faith and honoring their traditions, I have eaten food that other ponies couldn't stomach, meaning that Ms. Platter is also trained how to cook such a meal if you'd like."

Spike shook his head. "No thanks, the last time we ate dinner together was the night before I left for my year abroad, and I would feel like a jerk if we couldn't eat together, plus all I've eaten in the last month has been high-class food, so how about a pizza instead, and none of that fancy crap that has all of its ingredients flown in with white truffles as a topping. I'm craving something that is probably 70% grease, with enough cheese to drain a cow, and olives that don't cost 5 bucks each."

Celestia giggled at the statement. "Well, I'm pretty sure that can be arranged. But what about dessert?"

"What about it, it's always cake, your favorite, and mine." Said Spike.

Celestia smiled at hearing this, she moved Spike over to her front as she kept walking. "So, Spike, would you care to explain why your girlfriend, Ember, showed up in my office last week, wanting to talk with you?" Asked Celestia.

Spike was confused. "Wait, Ember was at the office last week?" Asked Spike. "She didn't tell me anything, in fact, we haven't even spoken in a year, and the last time I saw her was when we broke up over three years ago." Said Spike.

"You two broke up, but I thought you guys were going to try long distance?" Asked Celestia.

Spike nodded. "We did, and it didn't last more than a few months, we just grew apart is all. She started dating a guy named Garble, and I went on a few dates during my college days, but none of them lasted for more than a month or so. Soon we just stopped talking to each other and I thought it was over, simple as that."

Celestia sighed. "Sweetie, I love you to bits, but sometimes you are as stupid as your father. Spike you were her first boyfriend, she loved you very much, and to be honest, I think she still does. I think that she was using that Garble character to help fill that void." Said, Celestia.

Spike sighed. "That doesn't make sense, she's the one who wanted to end things." Said Spike.

Celestia sighed. "Well, that's something you'll need to talk with her about when you go back. After you explain to everyone where you've been, what happened to you, and praying that they don't toss you into the looney bin." Said Celestia giggling.

Spike groaned. 'She is 100% my mother, stupid jokes and all.' Spike looked at Celestia. "Mom, earlier, dad told me that he was locked up for 1000 years, but he's only in his late forties, and I know it's one of the three things you never ask a lady, but just how old are you?"

"12756 and four months." Said Celestia simply. "Your aunt is 10342, Cadance is 3078 and Discord is the oldest out of all of us at 98486234963 years old."

Spike went limp hearing that his mother was over 10000 years old. Celestia giggled at the look on Spike's face. "Oh it's not so bad Sweetie, I've done a lot in my time." Said Celestia.

Spike looked at his mother. "Mom, I love you, I do, and for a woman in her twelfth millennium, you are beautiful, but I just can't wrap my head around it all." Said Spike.

Celestia giggled as she pulled Spike up to her and kissed him on his forehead. "Don't worry about it, Spike. Alicorns can live up to 100000 years. We grow up like all creatures, but by the time we reach our 10000's we stop aging until our 95000's. I've looked like this for the last 1500 years or so. Luna just stopped growing last century and apparently, she got our fathers jeans." Cosmo was a short man, only standing at 5'7", but when compared to his wife Lilith, who stood at a massive 6'10" tall, he was a mouse, and that's in Spikes world where Celestia was only 6'4" and she matched his grandmother's height. "Cadance on the other hand still has a few more millenniums until she's done and Twilight was 20 when she ascended, which normally takes around 7500 years for a to alicorn look like that. So she's kinda stuck looking like a 20-year-old until time catches up with her."

Spike kinda understood it better, but not really. "Ok." Spike looked around. "So how much farther until we hit the kitchens?" Asked Spike.

"Oh, we've been here for a while now, I just wanted to talk to you a little more." Said Celestia as she pointed at the doors to the royal kitchen.

Spike sighed as his stomach growled. "Mom, I love talking to you, but he didn't like it." Said Spike as he pointed to his stomach.

Celestia giggled. "Fine, I'm sorry Spike's stomach, lets go find Serving Platter." This seemed to calm down the angry beast that resided in Spike's gut.

Celestia opened the doors and walked in with Spike still in her magic. "Serving Platter, can you come here?" Asked Celestia.

Not two seconds later, a light purple woman with graying blond hair and a horn on her head appeared in front of Celestia and Spike. "Yes, your highness? We are finishing up your meal for tonight as we speak, and your nightly cake tower is about to be frosted."

Celestia smiled. "Excellent, but tonight I'm hosting someone special to me, can you ask the chefs to make him a normal pizza, with olives, extra cheese, and pepperoni." Said Celestia.

Spike looked at Celestia. "No, you don't have to, I don't want to freak you out." Protested Spike.

Serving Platter, who hadn't even heard a word Spike said, nodded at the princess. "Yes ma'am, Princess Celestia. Would you like to dine in the dining room tonight?" Asked Serving Platter.

Celestia shook her head. "No, tonight we shall dine in my chambers."

The serving platter nodded. "Of course princess." She looked at Spike for the first time. "And what would they like to drink for the meal?"

"Um... Can I just get a soda, regular, preferably lime and lemon-flavored?" Said Spike.

"So, Sprite?" Asked Serving Platter.

"Yeah, thanks." Said Spike.

Serving Platter bowed to the princess. "Of course, it will be ready in fifteen minutes." Said Serving Platter as she ran off to start the pizza.

He looked at Celestia. "You guys have soda here?" Asked Spike as he was carried out of the kitchen by Celestia. They were headed to her bed chambers.

Celestia nodded. "Yeah, a few Discords in the other realities, actually invented a couple of the soft drinks that you know in your world. We have Coke, DR. Pepper, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Fanta, 7 Up, and ginger ale."

Spike sighed in relief. "Oh, thank god, you guys don't have Pepsi."

Celestia shivered. "Spike, Discord is crazy, but not evil."

Spike chuckled, but then he looked at Celestia. "Hey mom, dad told me that you guys were close to getting married here, what happened?"

Celestia sighed. "Spike, that's a difficult subject to talk about, ok. We lost something very important and we dealt with it in very different ways." Said Celestia in an 'I don't want to talk about it' kinda tone.

Spike read the room and nodded. "Ok, if you don't want to talk about it then we don't have to, I get it." Said Spike.

Celestia smiled slightly. "Thanks, Spike." Said Celestia as they arrived at Celestia's room. Celestia used her magic to push open the door. She placed Spike onto the bed and propped him up with some pillows.

Spike looked at the room. It was massive, it easily dwarfed his parent's room in the penthouse. Spike looked at the bed he was on. His parents had a deluxe king bed for their room, and this one was easily the same size except a little longer to match Celestia's size. The room had a massive balcony that looked over a beautiful white city. The walls were inlaid with gold trim. There was a desk in the room, but it wasn't made of solid oak like the one in Celestia's office, this one was made from gold with precious gems as the nobs. Spike looked down to the tiled floor and for the first time got a great look at his face thanks to the almost mirror-like sheen from the marble floor.

Celestia giggled at the sight of Spike. "I know, but when you're a princess of a kingdom like mine, the contractors don't skimp out on lavish." Celestia walked over to the door that leads to the balcony and opened the door. She stepped out and looked over the city. She looked back at Spike. "Spike, this world is a little different from the one you know, and that's mainly because of the blood that runs in my and Lunas veins. For generations, the Solaris household has ruled over the sun and moon, and that is because we are the only ones that can move them." Celestia then powered up her horn and focused on the sun's core. She raised her hand and moved it towards the west, the sun followed the motion of her hand right as it fell past the horizon, leaving the sky a dark orange color. "Every day, I raise the sun and every night Luna raises the moon." Celestia was expecting Spike to comment on what she just said, but when he didn't say a word, Celestia looked back to find out why.

Spike was stuffing his face with the pizza that they ordered. He looked at his mother, his mouth half stuffed with dinner. "Sorry, food showed while you were talking, smelled too good, only caught about half of what you said." Said Spike, he swallowed the pizza. "But whatever you said is no doubt really cool."

Celestia sighed as she walked back into her room, and closed the door to the balcony. "I swear I will never understand how you graduated college, if you weren't stuffing your face, you were spending time with me or your father, and from the state that poor pizza is in, you still have that massive apatite."

Spike shrugged as he took another piece of the pizza. "Well what do you expect, I'm your son, Ms. We need 3 Cakes at the wedding, one for me, one more for me, and lastly one mostly for me, but Discord can have some, probably. That day you got promoted from princess to queen of cakes." Said Spike, he went for his drink and gulped half of it down.

Celestia giggled as she started eating her salad. Spike groaned. "I see you stuck on the image diet here as well."

Celestia nodded as she took a bite, she swallowed. "Yep, but it's not all bad, I do this so I can have my cakes, if I ate like everyone else plus my cakes, I would look like a ball."

Spike shrugged. "Probably." He looked at Celestia. "Hey, mom. Thanks for all of this."

Celestia was confused. "All of what Sweetie?"

"This, the pizza, the bed, the talk, all of it."

Celestia was still confused. "I'm still not following Spike, what's this all about?"

"I know you're my mother, but your not my mother, and I'm not your son, and yet you just..." Said Spike.

Celestia smiled as she sat next to Spike and wrapped him in a loving hug. "Sweetie, I am Celestia, you are Spike, you may not be from this reality, but that doesn't mean your any less my baby boy than I am your Mammy, or Luna is your Woona, or Cadance is Candy. We all love you, Spike, even if you just suddenly popped up here because you are Spike."

Spike sighed as he placed down his last slice of pizza. He looked at his mother and hugged her. "You are just like her, mom. I'm glad I wound up here, with you and everyone else, I've missed you guys since I left."

Celestia smiled. "Trust me, we missed you too, Spike." Suddenly there was a knock on the door, Celestia used her magic to open it.

In walked Serving Platter, she was carrying a massive tower of mini cakes on a stand. She placed the towel on the coffee table and left the room without a word, she didn't want to interrupt her princess. She closed the door as she walked out of the room.

Spike looked at the doorway. "Wow, she really is just like her back home." Spike looked at his mother, but when he looked to where she was, she wasn't there, instead she was already stuffing her own face with the cakes. "HEY! Leave me some cakes, mom." Spike using his one good leg launched himself towards the cakes, hoping to at least get a single bite before the cake queen destroyed the frosted tower.

Celestia used her magic to catch Spike before he hurt himself and placed him in her lap right by the cake tower. She levitated a cake into Spike's hands and looked down at him. "Don't worry, my little cake prince, mommy didn't forget about you." Said Celestia.

Spike smiled at Celestia as he started to enjoy the cake with his mother.

One hour has passed and the cake tower was completely gone, not even a crumb of it remained. Spike's belly was full and he was in a food coma. Right now Spike was under the covers with Celestia. She was snuggling up to him and holding him like his mother did when he was scared. She looked down at Spike and started to cry. "I always dreamed of doing this with you, my baby." Said Celestia.

A single tear dropped onto Spike's face, but this wasn't enough to wake him up. Spike squirmed for a moment, he shifted around, and using his left arm he draped it around Celestia and pulled his face closer to her chest. "Mommy," mumbled Spike as he went back to his deep sleep with a smile on his face.

Celestia smiled as she just looked at her son. "Yes Spike, mommy is here." Said Celestia as she pulled the covers up so she could fall asleep.
